I got this for free from strawberrynet (as a first-time buyer), and boy am I glad that I just got it for free! When I chose this as a free gift from the website, I was feeling quite optimistic because of the good reviews I read about it here. The packaging is quite good- I like the mirror they have included in the compact, however, I think someone should come up with a better packaging idea for creamy face makeup- I accidentally dented the product straight away. I know- I'm a klutz! :S
Application was wonderful- I was a bit worried about the colour (chestnut- for reference, I am between NC45 and NC50 in MAC) as it looked kind of too light, but it blended in nicely like a dream. I had a bit of difficulty knowing just how much Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer I had to wear on top, and as it turned out, I didn't really need to wear any! This product looked pretty medium-to-full coverage on me, although it seems kind of sheer when you first put it on.
And now for the makeup tragedy: after about 8 hours of wear...CAKEY CAKEY CAKEY! Disgustingly so! I totally looked like I was wearing a mask, so I got terrified of my own reflection in the mirror! There was a particularly horrible spot of clumping smack bang between my eyebrows! don't know why this happened, because I did my usual routine (moisturiser + primer+finishing spray+blotting). I have a suspicion that my very dry skin is perhaps, the true culprit. I think this foundation would fare better on oilier skins- it's so drying it seems like it saps the oils straight out of your skin! I am definitely not going to re-purchase, but will continue experimenting with this one- I'm by no means a make-up guru! Maybe the colour match would look closer in winter, when I turn NC45 again...
Still on the hunt for a foundation HG, unfortunately! :(

I had this in Camel for my NC 35 skin. Curiosity & admiration at this master at work leads me to this product. I believed Holt & Renfrew once carried this line. I got mine at strawberrynet. The colour runs a little lighter but by no means unnatural. I used it over a clear silicone primer. This product has kaolin in it, for the staying power & the primer will help to spread it.
It does even out the skin, & takes care of the pore issues. I never break out so cannot comment on it.
The package is quite classy looking, I like the way it opens. The sponge is rather useless to me, I find using the Mac 187 is much better.

I bought this in alabaster...unfortunately even this shade is too dark and orange for my skin tone. It does have full coverage and really reduces redness. It's very creamy and easy to blend out but it does cake into fine lines and pores. Exfoiliating and moisturising is very important before applying the product. It doesn't have the best ingredients (parabens and mineral oil), as all in the Scott Barnes line.

I received the foundation in Alabaster. Very nice texture and colour. BUT if you like to use it, you need to have a really PERFECT skin, because this foundation will mark every single pore (it sinks in), every wrinkle, every blemish spot, etc! My skin is not perfect at all, so I would not repurchase.

I just tried this on today and I feel like a model that just got her makeup done by Mr.Barnes. It really is just beautiful. My skin is not really problematic, just a few dark spots here and there. This just erases it.
I make sure my skin is moisturized and I use a buffer brush to apply this creme. This is my first creme foundation, so I see the diffrence between it and liquid. I am only sad that he is no longer creating this line. Figures.
For reference, I am NC 45 and the color I am using from Scott Barnes is Chestnut.

I normally like tinted moisturizers so this was a stretch for me. It has amazing coverage though, I was recently sunburned and my face looked like a lobster and I applied this before going out that night and it literally showed no sign of my burn at all! It lasted all night too, I live on an island in texas and the humidity is crazy, but this creme foundation stayed in place all night long. This isnt an everyday makeup for me, but its great for night, especially if your going to be somwhere very humid. I would also recommend this for people with discolored skin because it covered up my sunburn great! This is def. not for dry skin though, I dont have dry skin and I make sure I am VERY VERY moisturized before I even think of using this stuff. But it gives a great glow just like the rest of his products. Now days I use MAC face and body plus the select sheer powder and literally everything else I ever use is Scott Barnes, thats how AMAZING his stuff truly is.

I've been using this foundation for a few years now and I love it on a "I really need coverage day". I apply it w/BareEscentuals-bareMinerals Handy Buki Brush. It helps to buff the m/u in and it gives me that glowing perfect look. I especially like this during the winter months b/c it gives me a perfect canvas where I can create a believeable rosey cheek look. I use it in Camel (medium beige undertone) but the color is a teeny bit light but like I said it evens out my skintone so well that I can create a fresh look w/out looking too made up. Not only would I fork over the $40 but I have several times over the years. I get mine at Saks. It might be a little tricky for oilier skin types due to that it's creme to powder and that type of formula can cause the oilyies. I have combo/dehydated skin and I get the T-Zone by mid-day. It can also be order at www.scottbarnes.com

I have been wearing this foundation for around a week now. Firstly, for my non tan nc25 skintone beyond beige is perfect!! Not as much yellow in, mac's nc25 has more. The coverage is sooooo natural and beautiful id say medium (I needed a concealer in places), and slightly glowy. But the only thing is I can't get it to look right on my nose. It gets into all the pores and won't look smooth there no matter what. From a distance (someone sat opposite you on a table) my skin looks 'perfect'- even my mum said so and she usually hates foundations. But close up my nose looks blotchy and smeared after an hour or so (I have an oily t zone) and u can see the pores so much. Other than that I will try and try to sort that out because this is truely a wonderful foundation- i think i could definitely say in terms of coverage, shade and the way it looks- the most non-fake foundation i have.

I find with this foundation you have to make sure that your skin is well moisturised otherwise it can accentuate your flakes. If you moisturise well this gives you a flawless and smooth complexion and keeps your skin matte for most of the day. Beyond beige was a great match for my skin. It also feels comfortable on your skin, I have worn it through the day and night and it lasts. This doesn't make my skin break out.

Hate to ruin the good reviews but I didn't like this, it just sat on top of my skin, highlighting all my flaws (and I have pretty decent skin), didn't last but I haven´t found a single cream foundation that I like, for example Liquid Chanel Vitalumiere looks great on me but the cream version looks really awful, same with Teint Innocence etc.

*Update* I'm finally figuring this foundation out, and am increasing its rating to 5. Skin has to be well moisturized for it to blend properly. I use a dense foundation brush (Lancome) and dab it onto areas needing coverage. It blends out nicely and you don't need to use it everywhere. Best of all, it feels like nothing on. A fluff of the SB Diamond Dust on high spots and you're good to go!
The color match is nice too(Beyond Beige, for NC 25-30, Chanel Shell skin).

When I was looking at foundations for my wedding I had my face done at Scott Barnes and bought this foundation in Amber. It feels great and looks good, but it is not an exact color match (its a bit dark) and I think one shade lighter would have been too light (the SA refused to even try one shad lighter). This covered everything including pretty dark acne scars and helped my nose look smoother. Sometimes it can look a bit dry until it settles in.

If you are looking and like cream foundations this might be an HG ,the texture is so so smooth, the coverage is perfect ( i don't even need concealer under my eyes when i use this),the easy application, takes 5 seconds to apply and it's perfect,i use Beyond Beige which is the best match i've ever had in a foundation (LLL yellow undertones),i love his packaging,i get it from QVC dor a total price of $48.19 inc s/h,which is not bad considering how good this stuff,i don't need powder or concealer after using this *update* after using for a couple of weeks, this unfortunately broke me out (i knew it)but i'd still recemmend it for girls with normal skin, not problematic like mine

Oh, my! Gives me such a luxurious finish! Super creamy and soft and very easy to blend into skin. Apparently, this is supposed to have calming ingredients, also. While I don't notice any of that, it doesn't irritate my sensitive skin, either. Even when I had my hormonal nasty breakouts (like, cystic type--ew!). And amazingly, no other foundation I've tried can cover my breakouts better. This is one of the few foundations that don't break me out...and I break out from everything (like BE, even). I find the adjustable coverage med-full, and the finish too polished for everyday. So, I save this for special occasions or spot use it for concealer, which is wonderfull, too. I normally use my fingers or a foundation brush. The sponge it comes with is one I find useless because it picks up WAY too much product. I'm yellow-toned light to medium skinned and use it in Beyond Beige. Nice packaging; very sleek and snappy. This is kinda expensive for me at $40 a pop, but I will repurchase if I can't find anything better.

Love this foundation! Can you say, "LUXE?"
Thanks to the detailed reviews, I chose the right shade, sight unseen. My skin is normal (not dry or oily); NC30ish - give or take - light(but not the lightest) w/yellow undertones, and Beyond Beige is perfection. Gorgeous shade that spreads beautifully (w/foundation brush)& can be layered to adjust coverage. Dewy, elegant finish that has a polished, sophisticated look.
A word to the wise regarding prepping for this. I first used BB Extra Moisturizer spf25, which is an ultra-hydrating moisturizer. This was ideal, & the foundation spread like silk. The next day I started off with Clarins UV Plus spf40 and it was not good! This Clarins sunscreen leaves a very matte/dry finish to the face & the foundation was unspreadable.
Lastly, after applying this I fluff on my HG Beige Chic to cut the dewiness just a bit because I'm not used to that look yet, having used powder foundations for years. Really, really happy I took a chance with this product because I love it. I've worn it for 4 days now.
SB packaging is soooo elegant. I love these cases. A real trip.
Edit: Feb 6, 2007 -- Still loving this foundation. Beautiful finish, but feels like there's nothing there, and application is sooo fast and fun!

I hate to be one of the few who this product has not worked well for but alas I did not have good luck. If you have any suggestions please e-mail me. This was expensive and I want it to work. OK here it goes, I used a MAC foundation brush and blended well, over smashbox primer and ana moisturizer, set with MAC powder, also tried Lancome absolute powder. Product did not cover well, minor sundamage side of face near temple and jaw line. Settled into pores around nose. Same powder used with MAC liquid studio fix, no settling. Very oily by afternoon face felt goopy. Tiny amount used. Combo skin, early 40s skin, overall good skin. Color #3 will be swapping soon if this is the best this foundation does for me. MAC studio fix liquid covers and looks much better on my skin. Sorry...

Loooove this foundation!!! Caramel was a great match for my NC35-37 skintone. I bought this for a wedding and it lasted the whole day with minor touch ups. It even works better when used with MAC Fix+ to set it. I don't think this is my everyday foundation though. Everyday Minerals is for everyday. Evened out my complexion and looked natural at the same time.

This foundation is perfect to take with you when you're going away for the weekend, or if you just don't have a lot of time in the morning to do your makeup! It's very creamy and covers *everything* without feeling heavy. I have this in Beyond Beige, which is the second lightest shade. It matches my light olive skin very well. My skin is dry and sensitive and this foundaton has never caused me any irritation or breakouts. I've recently repurchased it for the second time, and I noticed that Scott has improved the sponge. It still comes in the plastic pouch, but it seems to spread the foundation more evenly without wasting too much of it. I don't use this foundation everyday, because I do find it to be pretty heavy (as in FULL coverage). But I always reach for this stuff when my skin looks bad, because I know that nothing covers better!

I bought the chestnut colour foundation (am C5/NC42 ish). Ordinarily I wouldn't have purchased it as the colour on the compact is very "golden/tan". However, by using my fingers and applying a minimal amount along the t-zone of my face, the colour happily blends away and brightens according to your skin tone. It's so sheer but yet it gives coverage without feeling you have a base on your skin. This is going to last me ages as I use so little so the expense is def worth it. My only advice is to check any colour from this foundation range in natural daylight. Don't rely on store lighting as some of my friends did!
