This is a very shimmery, metallic, cream eyeshadow. It has tones of champagne and light pinky peach. The previous reviewer who commented that it is similar to Mac's stilife paint is right on the money :-) There are a couple of major differences between the texture and staying power though. First of all, the Laura Mercier goes on like silk. It is easily one of the smoothest and easiest to spread cream shadows that I have tried. The problem is (on me, anyway) that it has a tendency to crease and if I wear it without any sort of eyeshadow (powder) on top, my eyeliner melts into my crease. Its a very nice color and I adore the texture when I'm applying it, but the staying power isn't that great, in my opinion. At $22, its not super expensive (it will last forever, because you only need a tiny dot for each eye), but I won't buy again.

I love this cream shadow. I think it is a great shadow base in addition to a highlighter.

LM Creme Eye Shadows are absolutely incredible, and I think I've officially collected them all! Platinum is gorgeous, although the name is misleading. It's not "Platinum", but more of a shimmery champagne/beige (simliar to MAC Stilife paint). As with all LM creme shadows, the texture and consistency is exceptional. This glides on like a dream, and doesn't budge at all on me. It makes for a wonderful base for powder eyeshadows, and because the color is so neutral, this would work for just about any colors you pair it with. All in all, huge raves and one I reach for quite often and adore!!

I got this product as a free sample so I can't comment too much on price. I have to say that if I did pay money for it, it wouldn't be full price. I'd definitely try to find it discounted. It's a nice shimmery golden champagne color. It creases like most cream shadows do on me but can be easily fixed with one swipe of a finger. I grab this color anytime I want to keep my eyes fresh and understated. While I like the color and consistency of this product, I don't think that it's special enough to warrant Laura Mercier's usually high price tag.

This is the best cream eye shadow I have ever used. It does not crease at all and you only need a tiny amount. At first I was worried that it was a little too frosty, and might make me look tired, but it is very pretty on. It also comes off very easily. I will def try some of the other colours!

It's a everyday color for me. It doesn't smudge, stays on all day, and I can pack on color on top of it. I'm so happy I found it!

The first time I used this, it was a sample size received from Sephora as a VIP. I loved it so much, I used it everyday. This made me realize that I should purchase the full size. And I still love it! This is an easy, daily use staple product. Platinum is a soft, shimmery pale, champagne. Be careful not to apply too much... it leads to creasing. Lasts 6-8 hours without a base/primer. A fabulous product.

I love this product so much that I use it almost every single day. The packaging is so adorable and practical - because it comes in a tube, you don't have to worry about contaminating the entire product whenever you use it (unlike pots). This glides on creamy and smooth, and the color is extremely buildable - you can go from sheer to very metallic/shimmery. When I am in a hurry, I use only this on my lids - no primer, no shadow - and I am good to go! Otherwise, I use this as an eyeshadow base under my shimmery neutral eyeshadows (Christian Dior palette in Iridescent Leather). Another plus is that a little goes a long way with this product, so one tube will last you quite a while. I plan on buying this again whenever I run out, and I'll probably also grab this in the other colors.

This lasts pretty well for a cream shadow; I'm impressed. I like this metallic-yet-soft shade under the arches of my brows and to highlight the inner corners of my eyes. It's a color you can find with probably almost any brand on the market, but the formula is blendable, lasting and soft so I would consider repurchasing.

I got a smalle version of this as a gift with purchase. I use it from time to time and still have plenty left. I like to wear it over my whole lid. Recently, I bought Alloy (silvery taupe) and use them together.
It's got shimmer, but done well. It's not flashy. All the colors are flattering. It's expensive, but you'll get your money's worth.
It stays on long too. I rarely need to reapply and I have oily skin.
I want to get the Mercury (lavendar taupe) color next.

As a professional MA I have tried many many products for an eyeshadow base to use on my clients (and myself!) and this is the best hands down. It never creases in our hot humid Ohio summers, doesn't feel/look dry at all (I'm talking to you UDPP) gives a bit of shimmer to non-shimmery colors or helps frosty/glittery colors stay put (even MAC Lustre's) and on my days when I work 9am-10pm my shadow looks amazing still (esp. with my MAC or UD shadows) when I get home. It is shimmery for sure but you can sheer it out or wear a non-shimmery powder shadow over it, although I can definitly see people not liking that part, but for me it works. UD Primer Potion's got nothing on this IMO it works 10x's better. Like I said, I'm sure it's not for everyone, definitly not for a simple boring basic look, but for dramatic, intense looks that last, it's my HG!

Although a bit tricky to use...beautiful color (a goldish, sheer, satiny champagne), and beautiful length of wear. Although this is recommended to be a "waterproof" eye shadow - I wouldnt go swimming in a pool or Ocean and expect this to last, but in my experience it ALWAYS makes it through my workout at the gym...as well as dips in the hot tub. I would definately repurchase, and am looking forward to hopefully swapping for other colors!

Pretty cream shadow. Lots of shimmer, but in a sophisticated way. Color has silverish undertones not beige really. Lasts long and doesn't crease. Laura Mercier has a lot of standout products.

I've never messed with cream eyeshadows much because they always crease. And while I was happily surprised at this one, this is no exception - if you put on too much. If you're like me and have a tendency to squeeze out a little blob of stuff when I first try it, my advice with this is to start with a teeny tiny dab and work your way up to find the right amount for you. One tube ought to last a very long time.
I say I wouldn't buy it again because it wasn't the color I expected. I bought it, sight unseen from the LM website, where the picture was a lovely peach frost, like Max Factor's "Starlet Peach." This is much, much more golden and darker, but still pretty and a good quality.

This IS the best metallic creme eye shadow EVER! At first I was disappointed it went on a sheer wash, but then the sun shone through my windows and wow! - it hits me how beautiful it was to have this translucent metallic layer over my eyes. It brightens my entire face!
Pros: creamy, easy to blend, does not crease and I've never used a primer. in fact, I use this as the base layer when i do layer other colors over it.
Cons: a bit pricey for a tiny tube of creme eye shadow, but they last for quite a while, so I'm not complaining, really...

This is a very unique product. I have not had much success using it on its own, but layered, it has been great. It adds a little shine and brightness to the eye area. I have to layer it over my Trish base essentials (I'm sure the Laura eye basics would work just as well), in order to get it to cover. When used alone, the metallic creme colour tends to crease. But when it is layered, it works beautifully!
****EDIT 3.31.08- I just found out this is waterproof! LOVE IT! I have also been playing with other colors - used alone and layered under regular shadows. Def my HG!

I have tried this shadow on bare lids at the counter. The product is very creamy (I dare to say, even oily) and much softer than MAC paints. The colour is a sheer wash, and although the champagne colour is beautiful I would have liked a bit more pigment. The problem with this product and such low rating is the performance. It didn't adhere to skin too well in the beginning of the application. It felt like I was just merely moving it around the lid. The effect was pretty, safe and pleasant, but not stunning. It has also creased within an hour. (Although, I did have a layer of Topaz e/s on top) Regardless, it's unacceptable. For me, creme shadows that require a primer are absolutely worthless. I have no use for this product and will not purchase a full size when there are better alternatives that control oil, last longer, don't crease and can be blended with other powder shadows.

This is a very pretty shimmery champagne color on me. The cream formula doesn't crease at all (but then again, I use UDPP). This was the first metallic LM e/s I tried, and I will definitely buy some more of the colors. I probably won't repurchase this one in particular, as it's too similar to my MAC Stilife paint, which is much cheaper. But I do like the formula itself. I just use my finger to apply and it works great.

I require my eyeshadow to be absolutely dummy proof. This is not. It is WAY too easy to wear too much. Use the smallest dot - rub on eye - wipe off excess. It also seems to migrate into the creases after a few hours. The color, itself, is very pretty. I think this would be a good product for someone more skilled at the art of makeup application than I am.
