I use this for two things. One is to put on my lips before bed, the other is my main use which is as eye makeup remover. I have tried like ten different eye makeup removers and this is the only one my eyes can tolerate long term. Others make my eyelids (top and bottom) red, dry/scaly and unbearably itchy after prolonged use. But not this. I take a dab, massage it onto eye makeup, take a baby wipe and wipe clean. And to be honest it takes everything off very quickly without any harsh rubbing unlike a lot of eye makeup removers.

I think the only thing this is good for is your eyelashes. Everyone who uses this product is always cackling about how moisturizing this is and how much of a great base this is for makeup. I highly doubt this moisturizers skin at all, and it isn't water soluble so it will make it quite hard for you to cleanse your face. However I swear is does make eyelashes grow. Apply it to lashes at night and you'll soon see results.

I honestly can't believe why everyone is so crazy about vaseline.
It has given me something that looks like a butterfly rash ALL over the face.. (Go look it up if you wanna know how it looks like)
I was lazy applying my usual normal moisturizer so I just used the vaseline that was on the nearby table(with clean hands). Suddenly when I was sleeping(30 minutes after I applied it) it felt(and still feels) all itching and stuff. I went crazy. My skin is not sensitive, it's just oily~normal and rarely dry but somehow this happened? I just hope the redness will only be temporarily and leave no scars...Luckily I got some creams prescriped from the doctor. I just can't deny I always have at least one jar of vaseline and one from liptherapy (which doesn't moisturize effectively for real either, it just reduces the annoying feeling of chappy lips...) just because it's traditional I guess.
But I never Intended to use it directly on my skin as a moisturizer. I do however, when I bleach my hair protect my scalp with a thick layer of vaseline which I wash/scrub away immediately.
I don't know if I am the only one but vaseline is terrible for my skin!

And I don't want to ruin the fun of everyone whom is a fan of the cheap product vaseline, I just want to mention that my doctor said vaseline does not moisturize or makes your skin soft. It just clogs and basically ''masks'' your skin... It does not have any useful ingredients whatsoever.

Again this is my experience. However I doubt this vaseline actually moisturizes anyone...

okay so when I saw this on makeup alley I got SUPER excited. Because who doesn't love vasseline? Its one of those things I don't remember not having in the house growing up. It does like a million different things. Like google uses for vasseline and the list goes on forever. Its cheap. Comes in a ton of different packaging and works magic. Go get some and you will see.

This is definitely the best! I mostly use it on my lips and it works better than any other lip balm. Just leave it on overnight and you'll wake up with the plumpest lips! I have used it for other purposes like one extremely dry skin (dermatitis), removing makeup (when desperate) and adhesive labels (yes it works). Cheap and cheerful!

I use this product for soft feet.
Before I go to bed, I apply moisturizer on my feet thoroughly. After letting it sit for a few minutes I apply a good amount of vaseline and then put clean socks on. When I wake up, my feet feel softer than a baby's bottom.

This is also amazing for chapped lips, scrapes. however if you are using it on anything else, i suggest using a moisturizer first.

My family uses this for everything: chapped lips, chafing summer thighs, dry skin, makeup removal, to protect skin around face when dying hair, etc. my favorite use for this is for dry skin. In the winter my hands crack from dryness. This is always the fastest cure. And my legs in the winter get so dry that they get itchy. When that happens, I reach for this. It's a miracle cure for dry or irritated skin.

I never have a problem with it being too greasy. I use a small amount after a shower in the morning and small amount at night. A little bit goes a long way. It is the best moisturizer around.

C'mon people! If you don't already have this product in your house you're missing out! It's extremely cheap, and completely multipurpose! I use this on my lips when they're chapped, on my eyelashes when they're brittle, on my elbows when they get dry in winter and so much more! You can buy this in little baby tubs, or huge tubs. Whatever fits your needs, it's a medicine cabinet staple.

I really hate to burst your bubbles but I'll explain why my review is bad.
If you want softer lips or skin, to seal in moisture, grow your eyelashes etc. I don't think a petroleum product is what you need. Let me recruit you to the Extra Virgin Coconut Oil review section on makeupalley. Coconut oil has identical reviews and claims as vaseline. The difference is that it actually DOES heal and moisturize, it's not greasy, smells great and it's much much better for a person to have near their face/ eyes or on their skin than Vaseline. Please consider.

Vaseline Original is is a pure skin jelly that is whitish in color and it comes in a tub packaging. It is applied using your bare fingers or brush if you want. The product is worth buying aside from being a cheap dirt in price it can be used to moisturize skin over night and to remove eye makeup. I love how it moisturizes my lips overnight and woke up with such baby smooth lips. It does not have a putrid odor and I love how simple the packaging. The only drawback of this product it is when deeping your fingers it can get very unhygienic.

This moisturizes well, but it comes off really greasy on my skin. Do not recommend using this on your lips at all. You're better off using a cheap lip balm. Overall, this product isn't one I would recommend.

I've tried using Vaseline and petroleum jelly products numerous times. Every single time, I end up with horrible results (dry skin and/or clogged pores). Even body lotions with petroleum jelly irritate my skin and make my KP clogs much worse. Using this as a protectant for lips or nose does not work well for me either, and I usually end up with skin that is more chapped than it was to begin with. Who knows why I'm one of the unlucky ones who cannot tolerate this cheap, popular product. As I said, I've tried several times to make it work for me. But amidst all the controversy surrounding petroleum jelly, maybe I'm better off without it.

Vaseline is 100% petrolatum and not everyone is allergic to it. In fact it is quite unlikely.

However, since I have very sensitive/eczema skin, I try not to use this too much.

Lips: Soften the lips but caused dark brown spots on my lips. (rectified that with Burt's Bees' lip balm. Lip discolouration is gone).

Body: When I had dry dry peeling eczema, this is good in creating a total barrier (not moisturising, different thing) the water so my skin barrier improves and heals. What this means is, it actually suffocates the skin so the skin is unable to breathe and causes clogging too. However, as I was having severe drying and cuts all over so this helps in creating a false skin barrier. Do not mistake that for moisturising.

Face: I don't use this on the face but due to excess usage on body, some got transferred to my chin and caused clogging / bumps along a large area. I am too old to have acne skin, normally my skin is pretty ok and dry-ish. I couldn't even get the vaseline off after numerous showering and face washing. In the end, I used Acne-Aid liquid cleanser on my chin to be able to remove the vaseline. Skin smoothes out immediately.

When I check out of the hospital and my doctor prescribed me some more vaseline, I just refused. Went out and got Burt's Bees Baby Bee ointment. Works wonderfully and is organic without petroleum jelly.
Another organic moisturiser option for eczema skin is raw coconut oil.

Note: since I have sensitive skin, the Acne-Aid must only be used on the spots where vaseline cannot be removed. First day, I used all over my face and my face became red (but not dried out). So beware people with sensitive skin.

To the person who said that Vaseline dried their skin out on their face, this happened to me as well. I used it for 4 months on my face and I too got severely dry skin and my skin started to feel really tight. I think it messes with oil production on our face and are face just isn't designed for something so heavy. I too found it very difficult to was off and was applying Vaseline on top of Vaseline.

I also use this as a primer for plucking my brows. Wipe it on and within 5 minutes the skin near your eyebrows is super soft and prepped for plucking! My mother used vaseline, my grandmother used it and so did my "big mama" (great grandmother) All these generations can't be wrong! xoxo

As much as I LOVE my EOS and Simple lip balms, this stuff is a classic! IT IS AMAZING! I put some on before bed and my lips feel like clouds the next morning lol! I have the ones in the tub! I prefer a tube for lips but the product makes up for the packaging! :) I would love to see Vaseline come out with new flavors besides cocoa butter!

I love any kind of this stuff!! it is great for dry skin on any part of your body! I do recommend only using it at night as it is kind of sticky. I put it on my feet before bed and put socks on I also put it on my lips when they are feeling dry.
