If your color fades easily, you want sulfate free shampoo - seems like there's tons of those on the market now - but not many sulfate free clarifying shampoos - this is one and it works great - it really removes all the build up - kinda smells like rosemary and leaves the hair squeaky clean!!

I hate, hate, hate this shampoo! O.M.G what a waste of money. I cant even figure out how anyone could possibly like this.
It doesnt smell nice, nor does it lather really well. It doesnt lather well because once put anywhere in my hair it turns those hairs into a matted, knotted mess and the product cant spread throughout my hair.
I thought that it just was bad for my hair type but i also tried it on both my kid's hair and even suggested it to my husband to try because he has an oily scalp. It didnt favour anyone and we all had yucky, tangled hair.
Ive also tried using the smoothing shampoo and condiotioner from purology after to replace moisture but the results were still bad.
If your looking for a clarifying shampoo i'd suggest trying the redken cleansing cream or joico's chelating shampoo, they are gentle on the hair but still clean very, very well leaving hair silky, shiny and swingy.
This stuff right here left my hair looking like i had just fried it with bleach and it looked bad and was unmanagable for many days after.

What. Is. This. Garbage?! I paid $30 to turn my hair into a disgusting, matted, mess that took weeks to get back to normal. Now, I'm not afraid of some serious shampoo. I have a greasy scalp, I use serums, I love sulfates, I adore Prell. So once I colored my hair with a semi and a serious shampoo didn't seem like an option, so I paid thirty friggin dollars for this, and I'm here to tell you that it's just awful, suave daily clarifying is far better, and I don't have a particular affinity for that either. It made my hair the tangliest, driest, mess you could ever feel. I mean I seriously don't know how to describe it, it was just nasty. And I'm not talking about that squaky clean feeling (which many people mistake for dry), my hair literally just did not feel like hair. But despite all this, my hair and scalp didn't feel anywhere near clean. It still looked greasy, and for a clarifying shampoo, it left me with tons of build up. The smell was pretty awful too, it was kind of a sweet mint with a sickly metallic tinge. I don't mind mint, but as my hair dried the mint faded away and my hair just smelled metallic and kind of...alkaline? Like the smell of overbleached hair right after a process. Or over heated batteries. Unsettling to say the least. Like I mentioned earlier, it took me WEEKS to get my hair back to normal. It felt more like I had a severe chemical process than a shampoo. Overall, just a trainwreck of a product, and a very expensive product at that.

I was nervous to try this product because I am not a fan of Pureology products at all, not even their Nanoworks line, but I was anxious to get my hands on a sulfate free cleanser that was easy to find. I ordered the 2 oz size from Amazon with free shipping and I will probably buy the bigger bottle next time.
I loved it and will never look for another clarifier. It left my hair very soft and very clean. I expected to have dry hair immediately following the Purify shampoo since it is a clarifier, but my hair did not feel dry at all. After I shampooed once with the Purify, I followed with my regular sulfate free moisturizing shampoo(Aquage Sea Extend Silkening) and the matching Aquage conditioner, and of course these products worked better than ever after clarifying.
The reason I followed the Purify with my regualr shampoo is because my conditioner works best with the matching shampoo, and also because I heard a stylist say that after you clarify, you should always follow with a moisturizing shampoo in conjunction with a good conditioner because the two together add more moisture back into the hair than using a conditioner alone. You would think that following with another shampoo might dry hair out, but if it is a moisturizing shampoo, it will add moisture and make your conditoner work better.
Five lippies!!!

This shampoo is great... my hair was very dull from so much chlorine build up (i actually had to buy a shower filter due to so much chlorine in our water).. so my highlight were dull and not shiny... i put this on, massage it for 5 minutes and let it work for 15 min while i was chilling in the tub... i washed and condition... ohhh men!!! my highlits came back to life, and the smoothness.... incredibily shiny and sooooo soft... will definetely buy again... only down size is the price, nearly 30 bucks... but it does last for a loong time, almost a year for me.... so still worthed, even being pretty expensive... i higly recommend!!

This shampoo really protects your color, and keeps blondes bright. Sulfate free. Really like the Pureology brand a lot.

I really don't understand why people are having problems with this? I have well water and I just bought this last night to remove build up my water leaves behind. My hair felt a little tangled right after I used this but after I used conditioner my hair was fine (right now I'm using TIGI dumb blonde.) Better than fine my ends felt like straw before but are now so soft; its almost like my conditioner was not able to get to my hair before because of the hard water build up. I had no problem combing through it either. If you're having problems maybe try a different conditioner or maybe you're not using enough? My hair is still a little brassy and the price was a little high for me (27 at rite aid) so I could only give it 4.

I was looking for a clarifying shampoo that was safe for color treated hair and found this when looking at Pureology products.
It is expensive but given that I will only be using it once a week at most I easily justified it.
It is true that it can tangle your hair up pretty bad when using it in the shower but I followed it with Pureology Nanoworks Restorative Hair Treatment and the two together feel as though my hair has started over. My scalp feels clean, my color is vibrant, soft and easy to style.
I wouldn't use the shampoo without a good deep conditioner afterwards and I for sure wouldn't use it more than once or twice a week but it has made my hair feel salon fresh at home.

I love this product!....Although it is sulfate free and will not strip your hair, it is important to remember NOT to wash your hair with it everyday. The point of this shampoo is to take your week's worth of build up, and rinse it off. I suggest using a deep conditioner after you're done rinsing with this, that way the build up on your hair won't block your conditioner from doing it's job. When I use this I normally do it every Sunday along with my Ojon deep conditioning treatment. Pureology is a great brand and is definitely safe for color treated hair (which I don't do, but thought I'd put it out there). Once you rinse off the product I guarantee your hair will squeak...and that's the best part of this, especially since I have super oily hair.

This shampoo left my hair a tangled, dull, dry mess. Even conditioner didnt really help it much after using this shampoo. It also felt like there was some build-up left on my hair from the shampoo itself. This was no better than a $1.99 bottle of Suave.
Hair type: dyed blue/black, 3C

While this product smells great and does a great job with taking all the build-up out of my hair (what it promises), it also leaves it a tangly, overly dry mess. It's meant to be used only every once in a while, so it lasts a long time and is therefore actually worth the high price tag. As long as you also have a great deep conditioner to use in tandem (which Pureology itself does), this can be a great treatment for your hair. Sometimes, though, I feel like it actually makes my hair feeling MORE icky -- when my hair was very long and thick, I could barely wash this shampoo out, since it doesn't really lather very well! Like most Pureology products, I have very mixed feelings about the purifying shampoo.

LOVE this product!! I fell in love w/ Pureology back 6mos ago. I've been learning more about the no-poo routine..using baking soda + ACV rinse has been transformative for my hair. Well, this product has baking soda in it to clarify w/o the fuss ...it's not that expensive..I got mine for $19 total off Amazon...and considering I'll use it once a week at most - the bottle will last at least a year..so well worth it when you factor cost/use - that's how I justify spending money on premium beauty products.
This product clarifies w/o stripping and hair is left so soft/salon worthy. Do use a conditioner after to avoid dry hair. I rarely use conditioner with my fine hair..but found it helpful to add moisture back to hair after using this shampoo. HG!

Should I start with how well the product works for my
chemically treated/color treated hair or the aromatherapy
side effect? I'll start with the shampoo clarifies my hair
without stripping it or leaving that stripped feeling with
tangles. I find that I absolutely must use this shampoo
at least 2-3 times a month to maintain manageablity
of my hair since I use so many styling products/creams.
As for the scent, I love it. It is a soft woodsy/green scent
that I find invigorating.

I typically don't like to leave negative reviews, but I honestly think that this product shouldn't be on the market -- especially with it's high price tag.
I'm a fan of Pureology Nano and Hydrate shampoos - but I HATED this shampoo. Horrible. My hair was a tangled mess before I could rinse the product out of my hair.

Pureology has always been one of my very favorite hair care lines, and this product has re-affirmed my love! A big misconception that people get with the Purify Shampoo is that it is a regular shampoo. IT IS NOT. Of course your hair is going to feel dry if you use it more than is recommended! (Recommended usage is 1x a week). It is the best and only thing to keep hair in tip-top shape concerning a clarifier. It gets rid of hard water/mineral water build up, styling residue, chlorine, among other things. Shampoo once a week with your Purify shampoo, rinse it out, and immediately follow that with your regular shampoo (some good ones if you feel dry are Pureology Hydrate or Pureology SuperStraight), rinse that out, then use your conditioner. The best thing I've found is doing this on my day of the week to Purify.
1. Purify Shampoo
2. Rinse
3. SuperStraight Shampoo
4. Rinse
5. Hydracure Intense Hydrating Treatment for 5-7 minutes (I'll shave my legs)
6. Rinse
And then I'm good to go! The Hydracure is a Pureology moisture mask they say to use 1x a week, so I just save myself brain space and use them both on the same day. That takes care of the "dry hair" issue. I love love love the smell of the Purify, I think there are some essential oils in it. Love it!!

First off I'd like to tell you ladies that clarifying shampoos are best used once a week for most, and twice a week tops! There are not meant to be used as a daily shampoo, even if you have very greasy hair. I've tried several different kinds of clarifying shampoos and this one is the best. It definitely gets the hair squeeky clean without stripping the color and all the moisture out of the hair. And the amount you need is so miniscule that a bottle will seriously last you at least a year.

I used to use this shampoo once or twice a week, and use the hydrate shampoo for the rest of the week.
I believe this shampoo is at its best when it's not used every day (too drying) - I believe a lot of the less-than stellar reviews for this product can be attributed to using a clarifying shampoo every day, which is just not a good idea for most people's hair.
This was my all-time favorite shampoo until I discovered PureOlogy's nanoworks line, to which I've been converted.
Nonetheless, I'm considering buying another bottle of this to use every-so-often just to get my hair *really* clean.
This shampoo should definitely always be followed with a hydrating conditioner. When I used to use it, I coupled it with the hydrate conditioner (also an excellent product), but I think the nanoworks conditioner is even better.
This is the only clarifying shampoo I know of that can get your hair really really clean without making you lose some of your color. The only reason I give this 4 stars instead of 5 is that I believe the nanoworks line is better.
