One of the worst moisturizers i have used!
when applying it couldnt stop bulking up and flaking on my skin. Went back and asked (unfortunately in Greece no money back guaranty) the clinique sales girl and she told me it was because i needed exfoliating! When told her i exfoliate an average of 1-2 times a week and dont thing that that was the problem and that i was not willing to exfoliate more to get this product to work properly she had no clue why it reacted like that on my skin.

One of my favourites. I use it as an anti-stress cream and if I go to the beach. Doesn't leave my skin greasy or sticky, never had any problems with it at all, using since 2010.

I love love love what this does for my skin. I've tried a lot of clinique moisturizers and this is probably my favourite because of the SPF and the feel. Don't let the consistency fool you - it's SO light and absorbs right into the skin, no greasiness. I'm serious!! You hardly even need to work it into the skin. Amazing. It is pretty expensive and there isn't a pump but just be sure to wash your hands before you dip your fingers in (which is what you should do anyway before you touch your face) and you're good to go. Definitely worth the money.

I bought it today, so I don't have such an experience, but now that I put it all over my face, I feel that my face for the first time in my life, is not greasy! I have an oily skin, so although I used to buy moisturizers for normal to combination skin, everytime I put the creme, my skin was oily. I'll make an update after a few weeks, to tell you something more, but for now, I would say that this one for combination to oily skin is really aborbed fast by skin.

Have gotten this as GWP a couple of times, never actually purchased it. Tried to like it since I love the Super Rescue night moisturizer and I thought this was the daytime version of that product, basically the same but with SPF. But the Super Rescue doesn't break me out and this does. I have combination skin and find that a lot of products with SPF cause me to break out, including this one. On top of that - I hate that it comes in a jar. And I can't say my skin responds to this any better than it does to a less expensive moisturizer, haven't seen any benefits that would justify the price compared to the 3 step moisturizer. Yes it has a lot of fancy ingredients but if you can't see the difference on your skin what's the point. They may be in quantities too small to be effective.

This review is for the combination oily/oily version. To me, this product has two major faults. The first is the packaging--I don't always avoid jar packages, but I'm a very pale person for whom sun protection is very important, so when it comes to SPF, I really worry that the ingredients are degrading every time I open and close the jar. I don't want SPF stored in a jar. The other problem is the eye-burning: after only a week or so of using this product, I started having a strong reaction to it, where my eyes would burn and itch and water for a while shortly after I applied it. That's disappointing coming from Clinique, who I feel like I can normally rely on to have non-irritating products. The only good things I can say for it are that it's not too greasy and it didn't break me out.

I needed some intense moisture as fall was coming and my skin was dried out from sun and environmental stressors. This is a great cream but it burns/stings a little when applied after I use my clarisonic. And God forbid I apply this accidentally anywhere near the eye area.
The packaging includes a little tab that keeps the product moist/safe even if you forget to screw the lid back on overnight.
This white cream feels very smooth and blends in very well. No white is left over after application. I prefer white or clear products to products that contain dyes and colors.

Simply my favorite for years now. Shame it's so expensive though, although I would nearly say it's worth it.
From time to time when my budget is tight I go for other facecreams like L'oreal, but nothing else really does it for me other than this Superdefense from Clinique.
Just love the light, fresh, non-perfumy smell, the way it glides onto your skin, moisturizing all day and keeping you safe from the sun with its 25SPF. It gives me a dewy glow and I always get complimented on it, ever since I started using it.
No break outs here.
But, like I said, at £36 a pop, it IS pretty expensive!

I have a combo skin: my cheeks are dry but T zone always oily and acne prone. I bought dry/combination skin version of this product. I t gave exactly what my skin needs: some moist to cheeks, mattifying T zone. And this version 'dry/combo' is a very rare option overall moisturizers so since it exactly describes my skin, I had the optimum benefit. I just changed my moisturizer because I started to use a series of products to get rid of my imperfections but when I finish this treatment, I will definetely turn back to this product.

I have struggled to find my HG moisturiser and this one is not the one. My skin flakes easily and is on the dry side. I use the dry combination skin type for this product. It does moisturise but it is not anything spectacular. It feels a bit heavy and yet is unable to moisturise to my desire.
I think it also clogs my pores a little too (but I believe all cream moisturisers clog pores to some extent) . I bought this because the sales assistant suggested it. I know I will definitely not be listening to them again.
It is not the worst moisturiser but for the price it is definitely not worth it. It is way too expensive for an average moisturiser.

I really do think my skin has improved since using this.
After only a week I felt my skin looked more even and was definitely softer. Its sun protection isn't failsafe because I still got freckles on my nose after a day out in NYC in the 80's (I have medium skintone). You only need a tiny amount and it covers very well. I imagine that it could cause breakouts if you use too much.
I will definitely buy this again.

I was already a bit of a fan of Clinique skincare because it doesn't cause breakouts, itches or rashes on my dry and sensitive skin; something which 90% of creams I've tried do (I've tried many different brands from all price ranges), so I thought that Superdefense Moisturizer would be a safe bet...
There's not much to say for this product. I used it twice a day for almost two months and I still had visible dry flakes of skin, about three hours after application. Also; the formula felt gritty upon application.
I didn't notice any other improvements either i.e. skin tightening, glowing or fine lines being reduced. A disappointing waste of time and money.
I've added a star for the SPF and the fact that Superdefense didn't irritate my skin.

I have been using the combination oily to oily formula since i was 24 and i am now 30! It is great. i think this is the only beauty product that i have purchased again and again for over 6 years.
I use this here in the UK all year round and also if i go away on holiday. Note - if i am away abroad and the sun is strong i will also use another product cotaining SPF over the top (primer, tinted base, sun tan lotion for the face etc). It is a lovely base for primer and make up.
This has never broke me out or made me dry. If you put too much on then you can feel greasy, but over the years i have learnt how much my face and neck can take!! You don't need that much and a pot generally lasts me around 5-6 months! The fact that it protects your skin from the first signs of ageing, has SPF 25 and is specifically aimed for combination to oily skins makes it a winner for me.
I will continue to repurchase till i need something for older skin.... i.e. wrinkles...

This moisturiser has not been a good purchase for me. I think since I started using it around January time, I have suffered from worse acne, discolouration, and fine lines than ever before! The pot is unhygienic as you have to dip your fingers in, and the moisturiser itself has an odd synthetic smell. Sadly, I would not recommend this moisturiser as I can't really think of any postives about it.

I have the one for dry to very dry skin. Oh, nothing breaks me out, but this does and I have sahara dry skin. AND it could be from the jar, WHY when we know bacteria gets in there, we use our FINGERS Clinique, to get the stuff out.
Darn, SPF above 25 or equal to is a real challenge if you are too dark to wear all mineral. The beat goes on.

I am pleased with a lot of Clinique prodcuts. I really like this one been using it for few weeks now after my 3-step. Live in sunny California and this works great with my dry combo skin. It never interferes with my foundation (actually makes it come on smoother!).

Packaging is nice and all but the creme doesnt moisturize very well, I have normal to dry skin but after using the creme it gets flakey and dry after only 30 minutes. This product is too expensive for what it is.

I have repurchased this product twice because I am a big fan! I have really sensitive skin and use the dry/combo version. The cream easily blends into your skin and leaves it fresh and moisturized. I can't stand perfumed creams and love this one even more as there is no smell. I have had slight problems with redness, but this cream has helped to even up my skin tone in the long-term.
I have read reviews saying that the product is overpriced. For me, it is absolutely worth it as it just works for me like no other cream!

I got a free sample in a gift, and woah. It STINKS. How can I describe it... Burned licorice and dead rat in formeldahyde. So bad, used it on my hands and feet once, then it went in the bin. Btw, hands were 'dry' after 5 minutes. The smell only got worse. Clinique, are you serious?

Now one of my favourite moisturisers!
I first used this at the end of the summer - We went to Uganda and I used this as my face sun cream (applied very frequently as it was 30 degrees C + on some days) and did not get burnt at all! (had previously been using Givenchy Hydra Sparkling which was good, but having to use Clarins Spf over the top). Since then this is the cream I have been using every morning before putting my makeup on. I use the Dry/Combination cream, and have found that it stops my skin from drying out and does not give me spots! The weather here has now changed ......COLD!!!! I am still using this cream, and my skin seems to be happy with it - going from about 2 degrees C whilst waiting for the train, to inside and considerably warmer.
While its not the cheapest moisteriser out there, it is very good, and has the added spf which really does work! In the long run Iam hopign this will keep my skin looking good and save it from the sun!
