My dad got me this from duty free I think at the airport and I wasn't too sure at first whether I would like it.. The cream isn't as amazing as it's hyped up to be and I though the lip cream would be the same but I was very, VERY pleasantly surprised. At first the taste of it, I couldn't stand but as I've come to use it pretty much everyday twice a day, I've got used to it and can hardly taste it now but I literally cannot do my makeup routine without it. It makes my lips moist and un-dry for hours on end and is such a good lip"stick" to put on under my usual lipstick, gives my lips a smooth base and as I said, keeps them lovely and non-dry. It is very expensive and that is one of the downsides to it. I did find it a tad bit cheaper on amazon but only by a couple of pounds. Considering the packaging is very basic and plasticy, I'm surprised at the price but I am quite happy to pay it as I don't think I could live without it now!

I think that this product is very expensive for what it is. I find the packaging really cheap and the quality of the packaging not comparable to other brands at the same price range e.g. Christian Dior. The product itself is quite good and doesn't dry up your lips after 30 mins like some other brands or similar products. I've been very disappointed with some brands claiming to be a tinted lip balm but providing the tint but not the balm effect. Not sure why it's called 8hour because it certainly doesn't last for 8 hours. I think £14 would be the right price for this lip balm.

I really love this product. Its the only thing that I'm not allergic to and doesnt seem to make my lips worse in the long run. However its super expensive and it really doesnt last long. This problem is accentuated by the packaging. I've worn 2 lip balms down to the base but I swear there may be almost another inch of balm in their. I'm going to try digging it out of one and seeing if i can mould it into the other tube. I would buy it again but quite begrudgingly.

I was recommended this product a couple of years ago when I was suffering from terrible cracked and painful dry lips. After trying Vaseline, Carmex, E45, Blistex, Papaw ointment- you name it- I was resigned to the fact that nothing was going to save my lips. However, this lip balm is a miracle worker. It's the only product I've found that heals my lips completely when they're dry. I hated the smell at first (but I put up with it for the amazing results) and now I love the scent. It is ridiculously pricey and I resent paying almost £20 every time I buy it- but I don't think I will ever be able to stop buying it because it is a lifesaver and definitely my HG!

I always come back to this lip balm, it's really moisturizing on my lips and it stays on so there's no need to constantly re-apply.
I like how there's also a SPF 15 in this too and the smell is pleasant.
I've tried a lot of lip balms and I find this one is always the best. I'd also like to try the tinted version of this as it would be nice to have a little Colour to my lips.

The scent was such a shock at first but it kinda grew on me. The balm itself is mediocre as it didn't have any lasting power and wasn't moisturising enough. I probably will not invest in it again in the future.

I have been using this for couple months now and i love it. It works best for my sensitive and dry lips that use to crack easily. The smell was very odd to me at first, but i got used to it quickly. My lips feel very soft after putting this on.This product really helped me to get smooth lips even in wintertime. I have two 8h lip protectant sticks and lip tint. I don't like the tint that much so i think you should get this one. Too bad this is pretty expensive to be a lip balm, 20 euros is not cheap to me, but i got mine online by 10 euros.
positive and negative things about this product:
+ soft lips
+ great smooth texture
+ works well to cracked lips
- price
- doesn't last long, ends quickly (if you add it a lot)

This was one of the worst products I have ever bought! Well actually, I didn't buy it, it was given to me as a gift, and I'm glad I didn't pay for it because it doesn't come cheap - I think it was £18 per stick. First off, one of my friends had the original 8 Hour Cream, which I tried on my lips and was amazing, so thought I would give the lip balm a go. Well, the similarities stop there ... the lip protector has a horrible smell and instead of moisturising my lips it dried them out! I would find myself constantly needing to apply this stuff only to need to put it on again in 20 minutes! Even Vaseline is better than this! After this I went back to original go to lip balm - Softlips in Vanilla, which is only £2. This one dispels the myth that high end products are always better.

This lip balm is an extension of the best-selling 8-hour skin protector. In fact it has the same scent and colour as the 8 hour skin protector, except that it has been solidified in a bullet-formed lip stick instead.
The plus side is that it has SPF 15 to protect the delicate lip area from the sun. However, in terms of performance....I can't tell if this does much to my lips. I have tried countless lip balms, and I am disappointed to say that this is very mediocre- it moisturises the lips but does not leave it smooth, and does not soothe chapped/dry skin either. Would not repurchase this again.

I love the Elizabeth Arden 8 hour lip protectant (in the tin), it's really soothing and works and I'm the sort who hates putting stuff on for the most part. I tend to wipe whatever it is off immediately, I hate the feeling. This one though I can't go out without. It's multi-purpose too! The stick form is very moisturising as well (I was surprised when I first put it on) and I love the lipstick design but it feels a bit flimsy (for that kind of money I expect nicer quality tubes I guess). My bottom lip cracked and bled and I dabbed on some tin lip protectant once (I am way too lazy to apply lip balm very regularly) and that healed it. Awesome.
Love the smell (the 8 hour cream protectant in the jar is way stronger though, even smells like food?), I think it's HG.

I have been using this for a few weeks and i really like it. I have quite full lips and they can get very dry this does seem to have sorted that out. I would recommend you try this even if its at the counter then you decide. This is an expensive product to buy but have a look on ebay its half the price. Also when you apply lispsticks and you find that it steeps into your lines this will stop that from happening and give you very smooth lips apply first and then your lipstick works wonders.

the best lip balm I ever tried. My lip tends to be chapped because I live in a very low humid area. This lip balm is not greasy at all like most OTC lip balm did. It does not melt into oil like Kiehl's lip balm when the temperature get really high. It actually works great as a base for lip stick. I have few lip balms at the same time, Blistex, Avon, Co.Bigelow and they all make me feel like I apply them just because I feel I need to put on some lip balm not because they did moisture my lip.
It is a little pricey for the lip balm but it is totally worth it.

I don't have this in the stick form but the tub form (like the Vaseline packaging), got it in a 8 hour gift set box. I am in love with this stuff...it's the ONLY thing that helps soothe and heal my chapped lips. I've tried Blistex, Carmex, Vaseline, Chapstick etc and none of them worked. This one leaves my lips feeling so soft and smooth. I personally adore the smell - it's like a medicinal herbal sort of scent, very relaxing. It gives my lips a slight shine but not a glossy look. This winter my lips have been chapped, flaking, bleeding, sore...but this has sorted them out completly. I noticed results the first time I applied it. It's pricey but definately worth it. The only lip protectant I will use from now on.

I absolutely love this stuff! I can't understand people saying this doesn't last long, One tube lasts me about 3-4 months and I use it all the time! Yes the smell is a little strange but not strong or irritating and it really does repair any dryness or small cracks etc. Personally this is a must have in the winter months for me.I know it is pricey but I will definitely repurchase.

A balm that is worth the money. A stick version of their 8 hour cream protectant.
Pros - Long lasting moisturization
- No tint
- Smell - detracts from licking the product off
- portable
- price -def affordable
- Multi-use - Have also used this on my cuticles and dry patches I have had without any problems.
Cons - Has a bit of shine (which you may like)
- Smell - its like half medicinal, half herbal, def an acquired taste

I just started using this and I love it, my lips have seen it all, from nipple cream (yep!) to vaseline, to night creams. This blows them all out of the water, thank you!

I have used this lip balm for the past 9 years. I've gone through countless tubes. I was surprised by the fragrance, thinking that EA might spruce up the formulation meant for the lip area as it is rather close to the nasal region. :) But it's the same retro medicinal scent. You don't notice after a few minutes and no one asks to borrow your lipbalm. Har har! In summation, this is a dynamite buy. There's a reason this product has been in production for years and I'm happy as hell they had the brainwave to make the cult creme into a lip balm. Thanks Liz!

THE BEST lip conditioner/lip balm HANDS DOWN.
I have used up about 4 tubes of this and have tried exploring other options but I keep falling back to this. It is absolutely amazing and nothing works as well as this.
It can be used as a lip balm, night treatment and even a base before a lipstick/gloss. It is very moisturising but doesn't leave a thick layer like other lower end lip balms (Carmex, chapstick). So many people complain about the smell but to be honest it is not that strong. If you're sensitive to scents then maybe you can smell it first I suppose. Another reason I love it is that it NEVER leaves a gross chemical taste in my mouth. The packaging is simple and great.
In terms of price, we get a really good deal here in Hong Kong. In most stores such as Sasa (see www.sasa.com) they have a deal where you can buy 2 for HK$128 which is approx. US$9 each. For what it is, I think it is really worth it if you can get it at that price. However, if you have to pay more than say US$11/12 it might be too expensive as the tube is not that big. I use one up in about a month and a half with intense use (several times a day).

I had tried the eight hour salve years ago on my lips and I loved it. So when I was looking for a lip treatment I remembered that. To begin with the packaging looks cheap, there is a sticker slapped on reminding me more of a drugstore product than of a HE one. I was willing to forgive that since I had high hopes. I was wrong. It dries my lips once the product wears off, which is pretty quick. Instead of moisturizing my lips it made my lips worse, cracked etc! NOT recommended.

My HG lip balm / treatment - no question.
After 5 months on roaccutane my lips were incredibly dry, chapped, sore and sensitive, even bleeding some days. I tried everything from Vasaline, Carmex to Clinique's balm and nothing seemed to work for longer than an hour or so.
After reading reviews for this, I thought I would cough up the £17 and give it a try (I was desparate). I have never looked back. It really does help for a good 8 hours. It finally eased the pain in my lips and started to moisturise them. After finishing the roaccutane treatment I forgot about this in my makeup bag, but rediscovered it after this winter - it was the only thing that really helped keep dry lips at bay.
I love that it's not in a tub like carmex (I hate sticking my finger into my lip balms) or a messy texture like blistex cream. It looks like a lipstick (I have it in the plain white tube with the silver rim) and is the same texture as a lipstick. It glides on easily and if you leave it for a few seconds you can apply lipstick or gloss on top. It has a slight lemon scent (reminds me of summer), I don't think it has a taste and I wouldn't say 'it feels like you have nothing on' because it does - but then anything with a decent SPF does. I have the clear tint and it gives my lips a soft sheer if I wear it alone (as I often do). I'm not keen on the (really) bright colours in the range (I tried Berry I think once, and looked like a clown), but the non-tinted balm is the best in my opinion. Perfect for day-wear.
The only downside (apart from the price) is that I find it has worn down a bit over the months like all my favourite lippies do (at an angle from how I apply it) so I hope it doesn't end up breaking off. I'll be more careful with it.
Overall I love it. HG status for me. If you shop around there are some very good deals out there (i.e. ebay) and I think it is worth every penny. I'm never without! Especially during the winter I make sure it's the last thing I put on before going to bed and I have super soft moisturised lips in the morning - it really does last 8 hours.
