I got a sample of this today at Sephora. After my skin had a horrid reaction to a Too Faced BB Cream (I did a review on it), I removed it and tried this one. WOW, I loved it. It made a wonderful base for my skin and made it feel so soft. I don't have any discoloration or blemishes to hide so I don't know how full the coverage for this is, but if your only issue is dry skin, I definitely recommend this! :)

I've not yet purchased this tinted moisturizer, as I got a sample of it from Sephora about a week ago and I'm giving my face time to get used to it. So far, I've used about 1/3 of the small sample, which just goes to show how little you need to use to get good results.
I love this product. No weird scent, no streaky oiliness, no clogged pores. I find it applies most evenly with my fingers (I use a buffing brush for other foundations) and once it sets down and I apply a light wash of powder over top, it stays beautiful all day. I still get some shine in my T-zone, but not nearly as much as when I use regular foundation or other tinted moisturizers, and it's simple to just blot it down and go. It doesn't get swirly or make my skin look cakey and fake.
It also does not break me out.
And it's cruelty-free.
The price is a little intimidating at first, but I believe you get what you pay for when it comes to foundations, BB creams, and the like. Any drugstore face product I've ever used has been a waste. I will definitely purchase this when I start to run low on the sample. Note: I've used it six times. Anyone who's ever gotten a sample at Sephora knows that they give out a thimble's worth of product for you to try (which is fine). So I imagine I will get another week or two out of this before needing to go for the full-sized tube.
Can't comment on packaging yet, but what I saw at the store seemed pretty nondescript. Pretty, not overwhelming, and hygienic.

PROS
+ looks very natural
+ gives a nice amount of coverage, not enough to really cover any pimples but evens you out and makes you look nice and healthy
+ does not oxidize
+ nice and light and creamy texture
+ does not get oily throughout the day

CONS
- transfers easily, if i put my face on anything white, theres an orange streak from my face on it -.-

Now, the reason i will not be repurchasing: the first week i used this i noticed a had gotten a few hives on my face and neck but decided to ignore my skins warning. Then the breakouts started:( i have so many new pimples on my forehead and nose- which are places i NEVER break out:( I am so disappointed because this really is a great product. It just didn't work for me.
Regardless, i would still recommend trying this because it really is amazing, it just didnt work for my skin, i guess my skin didn't agree with something in this.

Woah baby, I lovelovelove this stuff- so much so, I've purchased twice. This used to be marked as simply the Smooth Operator Amazonian Clay Tinted Moisturizer, but they've since added BB to the title. While normally this would strike me as a cheap marketing ploy, I think this product does share some properties with a BB cream in that the Amazonian Clay really does treat your skin. I have oily prone skin and this does an incredible job of controlling shine throughout the day and I think that has to do with the Amazonian Clay ingredient. I would say the coverage of this is more like a light foundation, but it feels nice and light on my skin. Other tinted moisturizers I've tried do not pack this type of coverage, and they leave my oily skin greasy while this feels like I am wearing nothing at all. I've also mixed this with a bit of full coverage foundation on days my skin is being a bit more problematic, and it has performed well then too. Also, the shade range is awesome- descriptions are clear and allow you to match to your skin's undertones. With the SPF, this is a perfect everyday light coverage product and while a bit expensive I haven't found anything that tops it.

I love the coverage, and the smell and it doesn't make me greasy throughout the day!! Yay! It's a little on the pricey side with being $47 here in Canada but a little goes a long way so I say it's worth it! I've tried other tinted moisturizers like the sephora brand but they don't do this stuff justice. I loooooove it! Gold star :)

Not a bad TM, but my search continues. My favorite TM was discontinued (Cosmedicine Honest Face) and I haven't found a good replacement.

CONS (for me)
I like a TM that can function as my moisturizer too, this doesn't for me, but I have very dry skin.
Heavier coverage than I like in a TM; I have makeup with less coverage than this.

PROS
Didn't irritate my skin or break it out, and I have fairly sensitive skin.

I mix it with my moisturizer and it works fine, but I will not be repurchasing.

first of all, am I the only one confused as to why there is "bb" AND "tinted moisturizer" in the name? lol. anyways, I asked for a sample of this at sephora a few months ago, and it made my skin look AMAZING, glowing, clear and evenly toned. my mom kept complimenting on how good my skin looked.

- I'm in the color Light-Medium. I've held off on buying it because of the price, and because I fell so deeply in love with Covergirl's new 3 in 1 foundation and have been using it everyday for more than a month.
- It is one of those products that give you the "no-makeup makeup look". This doesn't create a layer on your skin or cover it like foundation does. It enhances your skin and helps it to be even-toned. This will not cover blemishes so don't be surprised that this isn't full coverage. I do one light layer on my whole face, then I dot some of it on the areas where I need a bit more coverage (mostly redness in the centre of my face).
- It absorbs quickly but is blendable.
- Does not oxidize into a darker or lighter color. What's in the tube is its true pigment.
- This lasts pretty long for me. AS long as it lasts me through the workday which it does, I'm happy.
- the key disclaimers on the bottle are: 1) oil free 2) antioxidant rich formula 3) no parabens, mineral oil and a few other ingredients.

If you're somewhat interested and curious about this product, I always recommend going to sephora, and asking for a sample of this. Also ask for comparable products as well to see which works best for you

I got a sample of this from Sephora a few weeks ago. I've used it about 10 times since then and there's still plenty left. I apply Aveeno SPF 30 moisturizer first and then use a foundation brush to buff a dime-sized amount of this moisturizer in. It gives me an awesome, airbrushed look with really great coverage (i.e. it's buildable and covers blemishes easily).

My skin gets oily in the summer, but I recently went to the beach and found that this stayed on well. It didn't slide off or fade, which is a big pro for me. It's a little pricey and I'm sure there are better tinted moisturizers out there, which is why I gave it 4 stars, but I'll definitely be picking up another sample of this in a few weeks.

THIS IS AMAZING.

I recently tried the other BB Cream from Tarte and it made my skin soooo flaky! I really liked the texture of the other one but the way it accentuated my dry spots was a big nono. so the associate at Sephora recommended this. Can we please have a moment to thank her???
I have combination skin so my t-zone is oily and everything else is dry. But theres a twist. my t-zone always flakes when i put anything there even tho it is oily. So when i put this on it doesnt flake AND it doesnt make my nose super oily.
My trick is to put MAC Blot Power under this tinted mosturizer and tah-dah. no more oily-ness.
This is my to-go face product for now on considering it is almost summer and this has SPF of 20. :)

****EDIT: After a few weeks of using this, i noticed little red bumps on my cheeks which i have NEVER gotten! I stopped using this product and noticed they were gone. Man, I thought this was gonna be my HG product.... Going back to Ulta ASAP and trying a korean BB cream now****

I was really excited to try this product as I love Tarte powder & concealer, but this made me break out. Also the color match wasn't great. I have since moved on to the Tarte BB primer & love that. If this doesn't work for you, I would suggest trying that.

I purchased this TM for weekend wear, looking for something sheer with a spf. I have been very impressed with this product- it really evens out skin tone and looks very natural. I tried wearing to work once but felt it lacked enough coverage. In the meantime, I have been trying unsuccessfully to find a HG foundation for work days. So, I tried adding a touch of undereye concealer (dermablend) under the TM, then finished with Rimmel's stay matte powder and the effect is fantastic! I get a satin matte finish that looks natural and stays put all day. For reference, I have fair freckled skin with yellow/pink undertones and the 'light' is a great match. Only negative goes to packaging which should really be opaque to prevent oxidation.

I'm not exactly the faithful type when it comes to makeup. In fact, I get easily distracted by pretty packaging and new products all the time. So after going through my THIRD tube of this thing I figured it was about time I did a review on this.

Why do I keep coming back to this plain jane TM even when I have an impressive lineup of other candidates? It basically boils down to one thing: it gives me everything I could want in one squeeze tube bottle. It provides great coverage, has SPF and is low maintenance. I don't need to breakout my fancy face brushes or beautyblenders to "make this work". All I need is my fingers and blending is a breeze. Agent 14 works year around for my winter and summer shade (NC35/40) so i dont have to worry about purchasing two. I do have a slight gripe with the packaging - it should be opaque to maintain chemical/physical stability but other than that, it's a winner!

Tarte Smooth Operator TM has made an honest woman out of me, and I really hope this never changes!

I was really excited to try Smooth Operator tinted moisturizer because all the rave reviews. When I arrived at Sephora I noticed they changed the name to BB cream. The SA told me that the company realized it was doing all of the things a BB cream does so they changed the name--same product. Just FYI. The product itself is great, and I can agree with all the positive reviews except it has made me breakout every day since I started use (about 4 days ago). Alas, I will return this product. Others with acne prone skin have not had any issues, so it is worth a try. For some totally inexplicable reason my skin has been tolerating MAC studio fluid foundation the best, really weird bc this stuff used to give me cystic acne...maybe it was all hormones after all...

This has been my go to Tinted Moisturizer since I jumped off the "Foundation Every Day" band wagon. This applies like a dream. I can literally rub this into my face, using my hands, haphazardly, as if I were applying regular moisturizer and it looks beautiful. It evens my skin out and blurs pores and imperfections without looking like I have anything on my face.

I have pretty horrendous dark circles, and I usually have a blemish (or 5), so I use a fuller coverage concealer with this.

My skin is very oily, and while I do have to blot a few times throughout the day, the finish holds up great and the product doesn't break down under all the oil my skin pumps out. If I set this with MAC Blot Powder, I get fuller coverage and the product lasts MUCH longer without getting oily compared to the usual Sonic Kashuk powder I use with it.

My skin is also very, very pale. (Warm tone, yellow/golden undertones) and Agent 00 is pale enough to work for me. I've noticed if I don't use a seperate moisturizer underneath this product, and use this AS my moisturizer, it looks a *smidge* yellow/dark for me during the winter.

I really do love this. It's so easy to apply, and I feel as if my skin can breath and isn't being smothered. If this controlled my oil better it would get a 5 star rating.

This is my first review ever on this website, but I ALWAYS depend on the reviews here because I find them to be the most reliable/truthful. I felt the need to finally share my experience with this product because I didn't come across any reviews that related to my issue. I've tried almost every powder/foundation and had no luck with them fixing my problems. They were either too oily, too dry, oxidized easily, etc. I finally decided to go with something different and I bought this tinted moisturizer which also had a "BB Cream" sticker on it when I bought it (don't know why). I was so excited to try it cause it had one of the highest reviews for tinted moisturizers. Unfortunately, I did not like it. About a year ago, I had to break the habit of exfoliating, because two years prior, I would exfoliate two times a day, EVERY SINGLE DAY. My skin was stripped of my natural oils (and I used to battle extreme oily skin). After reducing the use of the over-exfoliating habit, my skin would peel everyday, no moisturizer or serum would help. Every powder, foundation, tinted moisturizer, etc would make me flake!! Yet at the same time, cause oil to come out...excessively. It may not make sense but lets just say I have EXTREME combination skin now. Ive been trying to let my skin repair itself, but I'm still constantly peeling and flaking. This moisturizer finally provided something different..it did not make me peel AT ALL! However, it makes me extremely oily even with touch ups. I just can't seem to win, and this is going back to Sephora. I don't like peeling, but I know I absolutely hate being a grease ball due to this tinted moisturizer. So the search continues...

I dont like to wear foundation. But in all honesty I need something because I'm starting to look closer to my age. Time does indeed catch up with us all.
I read a review in some magazine a few months back that recommended this tinted moisturizer.
So I gave it a try. And I love it. It's not heavy, but it DEFINATELY improves my skins appearance, its less blotchy and blah when I wear this. It visibly improves my luminosity as well. There were a few times I was running late for work and skipped the makeup (scandalous I know, but I really am a lazy make-upper) Everyone asked me if I was feeling ok? Was I tired? Coming down with something...pfft.
And the few times (cough) I've forgotten to remove my makeup at night (really most of it's worn off anyway) It hasnt broken out or pissed off my skin at all)
For reference I wear "Agent 6 aka Veil" and it is the ONLY foundation I have found that evens out my pinkness. therefor I love it and covet it.

Love it! It doesn't even feel like I'm wearing anything when it's on. I don't like foundation, so this is the perfect amount of coverage for me. Keeps the shine down when finished with a powder. Works well as a primer too. Keeps my eyeshadow fresh all day too. Love it! I use the agent 00, and it matches perfectly. It is a bit pricey, but worth it!

I really only have one problem with this product - it just happens to be a deal breaker for me. This product oxidizes on my skin - horribly so! I was looking pretty darn orange after an hour. I tried wearing it with and without my daily moisturizer, mixing it in my normal foundation, using it with and without powder - but nothing could mask/help the orange tinge.

I exchanged it for lighter color (though I was color matched first time around) and again - this moisturizer turned orange on me. In a nutshell, $40 down the tube.

Hey, but if your fake tan, this might work for you! LOL :)

I wanted a good tinted moisturizer, and I got one. This matches my skin perfectly (the shade was Agent 02) and I really couldn't be happier with this stuff. It's my no-fail foundation.
