I have natural long and thick eyelashes so when I asked at the store for a mascara that will not "show up" a lot, they gave me this mascara!
it was expensive (24-29 euros which is 31-37 dollars) but it was exactly what the girl in the store said! it just toned my naturally long and thick eyelashes, just what I needed! That's why I understand why some people would be frustrated with this product!
The reason I give this mascara 3 lipsticks is because it dries up REALLY quickly (after like 1-2 months of NOT EVERYDAY use!)

I'm the kind of person who never wears makeup. So when I decided to try mascara, I wanted to buy something good. Knowing Estee Lauder was a little on the pricey side, but good quality, I decided to try this mascara. And wow, I was impressed. I had never seen my eyelashes look so long! It also made them look much thicker, and didn't clump them together like other mascaras. It's worth the money!

I really wanted to try an expensive mascara just to see if it was better than the drug store ones. I should've checked MUA before I bought this one...
It did thicken my lashes at the roots, so this could look good even without eyeliner for sparse lashes as mine, but because the consistency is so thick, I can't get it out to the ends of my lashes, so it's definitely not lengthening. I wouldn't call this an XL mascara - it actually makes the lashes look pretty natural and definitely not dramatic. Because of the thick and dry consistency, it took me a lot of time to get my lashes covered - big drawback for me: I don't want to use 5 minutes just to put on mascara. Didn't smell yummy, but haven't really ever thought any mascara do. Stays on well, no fallout, so with this one I would never worry about getting panda eyes at the end of the day. Held a curl very well on my lashes (all the way from the roots), but they are naturally a bit curly. Also, it's expensive.
Would not buy again, because of the consistency: the fact that it couldn't cover the tips of my lashes and took a lot of time to actually get on. Minus one lippie for the price.

I purchased this after using MagnaScopic and I wanted length. I figured who cares about lushes thick lashes. I need length. Well....I didn't need length. I doesn't XL my lashes. It has a nice applicator which gets in the corners and the smell is good and i like the wand. I had to apply several times and I am lazy. I don't like having to pull my eyelid and swish back and forth several times. Anyways I'm not going to buy this again. Its too pricey for what it does and what it doesn't do. I want thickness and this isn't it. Granted it was good on my bottom lashes. But thats about it.

I really disliked this mascara. Luckily i got the sample tube. The main issue i had with it was the scent. I dont know if that was just my mascara, but it smelled so AWFUL! Im usually not too picky with scents, but this scent was just unbearable. It smelt disgusting! after using it once, I was scared to open the tube, because it smelt so bad! The actual mascara wasnt anything special. It was a little clumpy, and many drugstore mascaras are countless times better.

I love that this mascara lengthens, separates and volumises, without being too over the top - perfect for my day make-up, I only need 1-2 coats and as another reviewer has said before it does fan out your lashes perfectly.
It also has a really light formula, my lashes feel soft and light, like I have no mascara on and it has great staying power through the day.
I'm taking one lippie off, only because it doesn't hold a curl as well as some of my other mascaras, but other than that, no complaints :o)

Not one of EL's better mascaras. Lash XL does not thicken or lengthen lashes. It barely looks like you are wearing mascara that is how thinly it applies. The applicator wand does not do a great job at separating the lashes either. EL's More than Mascara, Sumputous or Magnoscopic mascaras are better choices in the product line. To get some good length with other brands, try using a lash primer ( EL or Clinique) and Avon's Astonishing Lengths mascara or Skinn Cosmetics Luxe Premier Fiber Optic Mascara.

Sumptuous is still a better option. Average in packaging and quality. Simple.

Does nothing that a container of $3 RiteAid or Walgreen mascara won't do. This does nothing for me. Not only do you have to apply many coats just to get this noticeable but it doesn't even separate lashes all that well. Would not buy again.

I generally like Estee Lauder products, but this mascara doesn't do anything for my eyes. This mascara gives my lashes colour and they are separated (the formula doesnt clump), but no length or thicker lashes. More than mascara (very nice everyday mascara) and projectionist (separated and longer lashes) are better imo than lash XL.
Maybe I'm just spoiled after using Diorshow Unlimited ;)

I love how this mascara seperates EVERY SINGLE lash with the brush, its a no fuss mascara, it literally fan-ed my lashes- my lashes looked very natural and healthier- I really liked the result. I didnt find it to volumizing so I guess I still like the Magnascopic Mascara by EL alot better because it provides real volume that I desire.

I really do not like this mascara. The wand makes it difficult to use, the brush does not help with the application of the mascara, but instead the clumps and globs that the formula has tend to accumulate in the brush and stay there. For a lengthening mascara, this is surprisingly bad. It is VERY clumpy and dries way too fast to build into layers and the brush does nothing to alleviate the clumps, only makes them worse. The wand is also ridiculously long and the whole thing is just, well, BAD and hard to use. If I had not received this as a gift I would have returned it. It makes me long for Maybelline Great Lash, that is great in comparison to this.

I thought it was pretty clumpy until I threw it out today and took out my sample of BeneFit Bad Girl. Now XL looks like a star in comparison.
It did a fairly decent job of making my lashes thicker and slightly curlier.

To my surprise, I actually love this product.
My own is GWP. This mascara add length, curl, no smudge, stays put all day on my Asian mono lid eyes. Amazing thing is this is not even waterproof type.
I won't buy the full sized my own though because number one they always have gwp promotion, second I'm too cheap to invest that much money on a mascara that I will have to throw it away in a few months, LOL.

Not the greatest mascara, especially compared to Lauder's other choices. Try their new one - Sumptous!

This is not the best mascara by Estee Lauder, though it is still very good. It lengthens while keeping a natural look, while providing a little volume (understandable considering this is a lengthening and not volumising mascara). The brush is not necessarily the best brush ever as it does have trouble getting small lashes. However, the brush is not a total failure in the sense that it does not clump. Yes, it occasionally clumps, but that can easily be fixed with another swipe of the brush.

I think I was educed into buying this because of how good the models lashes looed on the adver- turned out to be a very expensive mistake. This mascara was so clumpy, seemed dry and never gave my lashes the definition and length I expected. A really bad product that did not last even month because it felt as if the product had dried out.

Very good mascara, pretty much like Definicils by Lancome, which is the only one I always come backto after trying others. Probably less-lasting than Definicils. But definitely much better than Inimitable by Chanel and YSL mascara.

I found this to be one of the worst mascaras I've ever tried. I have pretty great lashes so all I really need from a mascara is definition--lengthening, thickening, etc. are just bonuses--but this clumped my lashes like crazy and looked awful. I bought it at Nordstrom so I assume the tube was fresh, but the mascara itself seemed old: very thick, dry, crumbly and gluey. I also found the brush to be one of the worst I've come across. I've gotten good (if not great) results from nearly every mascara I've used (and it's a long list), but as many times as I tried with this, I always wound up with Katie Couric-lashes. The other EL mascaras I've used haven't been much better, so I'll keep away from buying any in the future.
