I use to use this in high school and switched to acne products like Neutrogena rapid clear when I thought my acne took a turn for the worse once hormones kicked in. Little did I know that salicylic acid 2% products were way too harsh for my skin and only made it worse. I thought I had acne prone skin, but I just needed a consistent face routine.
Velocity has now become my go-to product! Ever since I switched back to it (ive been using it for 2 months now), my skin has been in tip top condition! It does not have acne fighting compounds normally found in acne cleansers (like salicylic acid or benzyl peroxide), but it is great for blemish prone skin. I still get the odd zit here and there but still two thumbs up, my face feels so smooth!

Eh, this cleanser is alright. It's gentle and has some super fine, almost nonexistent, beads that help remove makeup and impurities. It's drying to my skin, though it makes it soft. Like I said, it's alright but I won't be repurchasing.

The Velocity cleanser, I've used many times, and I think this cleanser is alright. I like the light fragrance and it has enough preservatives in it to kill the acne causing bacteria. If you have very oily skin, this soap is not too bad. However, it's not the only thing you should be using if you have adult acne. After using this Velocity soap (or any soap) you need to follow up with a good salicylic acid which has a 2% concentration in the form of either a toner or moisturizer. The Velocity Moisturizer is not good enough to fight acne, it has almost NO salicylic acid in it. (Please see my review on that) If using a 2% salicylic acid toner, be sure to wait at least 10 minutes before applying your moisturizer to allow the toner to work and melt out the oil in the pores, otherwise you will make the toner ineffective if you apply the moisturizer too soon after the toner. Be sure to follow up with a good moisturizer, again not the Velocity one, it does not have enough salicylic acid. Again, the best thing about the Velocity Cleanser is it has synthetic ingredients in it that will kill bacteria, but unfortunately it won't clear out the pores since it has no salicylic acids. The only reason not to buy this again is the price, $10 is very high, if you are a Mary Kay Consultant, then you can get it for $5, which is actually a great deal then, almost like Wal Mart prices.

Everyone has different skin and some products work for some and some don't. Velocity is my holy grail facial cleanser. It's very light and has a light fruity smell, it's not overwheling what-so-ever. The cleanser cleans your skin really well, and the moisturizer makes your skin really soft. Been using it for a year straight and NO breakouts or problems. (:

This is a general cleanser, marketed towards younger women (Velocity.) I personally find the consistency too thin and the product not moisturizing enough for my skin. Definitely not the best Mary Kay cleanser- try time wise 3-in-1, it's magical

My daughter used this twice in one week and she started with a rash, then itch, then it spread all over her face and neck. I gave her benedryl, zyrtec, ice to calm the burning sensation. Her entire face started to turn red, burn and itch. Her eyes sweeled, her ears swelled, and neither of us slept well for days. About four days after the rash first appeared. I took her to the doctor and she is now on steroids. I hope that works. MK should do a muich better job. I am reading a lot of reviews on other sites about reactions and lots of folks defending MK. MK you either make products that are good or you don't! Stop making excuses! Nice job making profits at our expense.

I used to use this cleanser. I thought it worked for me but it didn't. Over time my acne didn't change and my skin just still remained covered. This may work for others but I am extremely acne prone.
Since trying this, many many years ago, I have switched to a regime of AHA lotion and Tea Tree oil. My mild acne is almost gone but I still haven't found that "omg my face is glowing!" product yet.

This cleanser is for sensitive skin, for sure!
There was this one horrible time period where my face was completely covered with acne, whiteheads, and oil. Of course, I started to shop around for the holy facial cleanser. All of the products I tried dried my skin horribly but the acne still kept popping up! As I was about to give up, a family friend introduced me to Mary Kay Velocity because it had worked for her sister. I was dubious at first but slowly, I began to notice that my face became clearer. After years of using this product, my face became almost like a porcelain doll. I am very pleased with this product.

Only thing I will use on my face and I have VERY angry sensitive fair skin. Was introduced by a friend who sold MK and was hesitant..had intermittent acne and almost every cleanser made my skin red/irritated. Proactiv made my skin lose all elasticity completely and I only had mild (maybe 1-2 whiteheads a month).
I have been using thisfor 3 years now. It is not marketed specifically as an acne wash, but it kept my acne at bay (if you have clear skin it will keep it clear, it will not spot treat pimples). Provides just enough of everything (cleansing, toning, exfoliating) for me and my skin reacts well to it, esp. when used with the moisturizer. A bottle last a while for me, so I am willing to shell the $ for it.
Only cleanser/moisturizer I have ever repurchased (4 or 5 times). Love. Love. If they ever pulled it off the market I would cry.

It's a good cleanser. It's also a slow worker, but it does work. I'm not sure if I'd buy it again, but for now I put yes. I love the velocity moisturizer too <3

I was using Avon Anew, but wanted to try something different for my small breakouts i have around my pierod time and i heard that proactive can stain your wash rags and bedding and clothes. But the smell of this Velocity is crazy! It smells like freaking urine or something! This cleanser would be perfect if it was fragrance free. On the other hand i like how you only have to use a tiny amount because it spreads really well, but i dont know if i can get past the dreadful, horrid smell.

I absolutely love this product. It smells amazing too!
So many great ingredients are packed into this cleanser. I have combination skin that tends to flare up often. I wanted a cleanser that could tackle acne but not dry my skin out. I tried lots of different cleansers but they were either too drying or didn't work.
Salicylic Acid in a cleanser is too harsh for my skin and that's all I seemed to find in acne cleansers. This is Salicylic Acid free! :)
This one tightens my skin up by just the right amount. No dryness and I feel super clean afterwards. I can't comment much on it's effects on acne but it seems to help.

I have been struggling with cystic acne for nearly 15 years and have tried LOTS of products. I used Proactiv for several years but was never completely satisfied and very harsh and drying, which you'd think would be a good thing for my super oily skin but not so; and not to mention it stained all my clothes and towels - what was it doing to my skin?! Then my sister introduced me to Mary Kay. She got me in touch with her consultant, and after a lengthy discussion, she recommended I try Velocity. I've been using it for nearly a year now and my acne has improved so much! I still get the odd breakout here and there, but NOTHING like i used to have to deal with. And it has really helped with my oily skin as well. I am so glad i switched and will not use anything else. I really enjoy the fresh scent as well.
The price is very reasonable and it lasts me about 4 months, which is a really long time for me. I like the squeeze bottle, but a couple of times i didn't close the cap quite tight enough and the cleanser leaked out all over my counter, so now i have to make sure its closed tightly to avoid the mess and wasting this great product. I would recommend this product to teenagers who are just starting to break out; i wish i'd had this product as a teen - it would've saved me a lot of embarrassment; glad i have the opportunity to finally have decent skin.

I finally found a cleanser that worked for me! I love this product, I am 19 and for awhile I have been having really terrible skin, but ever since i started using this product it is the only thing that has been working for me lately! I've tried many drugstore cleansers but this is the best! I also use the moisturizer too. This leaves my face fresh, smooth, and clear! definitely recommend!xoxo

I was very reluctant to buy this product because I have used many acne cleansers that haven't worked for me (Clearasil Acne + Scarring, Neutrogena Pink Grapefruit, Neutrogena Bar and the Acne Free System) and the ingredients list for Mary Kay's Velocity Cleanser didn't list the Salicylic acid or Benozyl Peroxide I was used to. I was sure that using this product would end with a massive breakout, but I thought I'd try something new anyway. I have been using this cleanser + the toner and velocity moisturizer for three weeks now and I haven't had even one pimple since. This is a HUGE deal, because I usually wake up with one new pimple everyday. This product did dry me out (though it might have been the toner?), so I use it once a day at night and use Aveeno Positively Ageless in the morning. My face feels great and my skin is so smooth (I wish my acne scars would go away though). I highly recommend this product.

So i have been using this cleanser for about 4 months now and i really do like it. it cleared up my horrible acne, reduced my scarring and it does a nice job of cleaning my skin. I would indeed recomend this cleanser to a friend because it work wonders I rated it a four because im not sure if it would work as great without the toner.

One of my favorite face washes ever! It cleans really well but it doesn't strip all the moisture from my dry skin. 100% recommended :)

I love this face wash! I've struggled with those tiny bumps, whiteheads, for a long time! I've been using this for about a month and my skin is so smooth! I have seen a great improvement in the texture of my skin. Also- I have oily skin and this has really helped keep it at bay, even with the moisturizer! I'd say for the price, it's worth a try if you have skin like mine!

I wanted to like this. Everyone I know with acne-prone skin loved it and gave it glowing reviews. But it was just too harsh for me. I use ProActiv and this cleanser was too harsh! Not good. My skin was very dried-out and flaky. It didn't help my acne. However if your skin is a serious oil slick you might find some luck with this product.
