it brightens your skin almost immediately and it has a nice smell to it. it is gentle to the skin but it requires you to spread the gel all over your face and i do not like the idea of tugging at my skin so i would prefer a powder-like foliant like dermalogica to this. it smells like a perfume and i do not think that the fragrance would actually be good to the face. overall, a great product.

Despite it being fairly expensive, I really love this product. My YSL girl told me to use it everyday for best results. My skin is fairly sensitive so I used it every other day. It's been about 2 weeks now and my skin has definitely improved in texture and is more glowy.
You don't need to use a whole lot of the product - just enough for your entire face. It's a golden, slightly sparkly gel when you squeeze it out of the tube. You use it on a cleansed dry face with dry hands. After massaging for a minute or so (it's a bit sticky and hard to massage at first) it turns into an oil (much easier to massage at this stage). Once I wash the oil off, my face feels buttery soft and so moisturized - almost as if I just had a facial.
I like that it doesn't have grains as those exfoliators tend to irritate my skin and make me red after.
I don't love the fragrant smell, but I dont mind it too much. I've gotten my mom to start using it and she loves it too.
I'd be more inclined to purchase if it were less expensive, but nonetheless I do see myself rebuying this in the future.

I LOVE THIS EXFOLIATOR SOOOO MUCH!! I went to YSL just to have a look and ended up leaving w a lipstain (which is an absolute winner) and this gorgeous exfoliator. I have been looking for an exfoliator for a while but haven't quite decided yet. I exfoliate once or twice a week and have been using trilogy face scrub. I am not a big fan of exfoliator with granules thou. My skin is delicate and this granules free exfoliator is just perfect!! I can't believe how SOFT my face is after i exfoliate with this. I think i have found my HG exfoliator. Love love love.. I just wish the packaging can be a bit more luxurious because YSL is known for the luxurious stylish packaging. But i will definitely repurchase.

I got a sample of this product today when purchasing YSL mascara. I've never heard about this exfoliator before so I was somewhat excited to try it out at home. When I opened the tube and felt the strong parfume scent I became suspicious. Why would they add so much parfume for a skincare product??? Well, I applied it over my face eventually. Results: my face became extremely dry with burning sensation and red patches. No exfoliation happened by the way. Stay away from it.

I like but do not love this product. I'll use it if I have a free sample, but I wouldn't buy it. I prefer the action of REN's Glycolactic Skin Renewal Peel Mask.
You put a little of the YSL Gommage on your face and then massage until it liquifies. Then rinse. I noticed a small amount of smoothing with this Gommage. However, my skin is pretty nicely exfoliated from daily use of my Clarisonic.
I had hoped that the YSL product would help with the occasional flakies that I get from Ziana and Benzaclin. However, it is not strong enough for that.

I am in love with this exfoliant. IN LOVE! It is truly amazing. It's a very unconventional scrub in that it doesn't contain any granules. It starts off as a thick, gooey, honey like gel that you rub into your skin and as the heat from your skin activates the product it starts to thin out until it feels like an oil. When you rinse the product off I can't even begin to describe how amazing your skin looks and feels. It doesn't look red or irritated, it is simply glowing and radiant. And oh how smooth and soft your skin feels afterwards. Simply amazing!

This is a fantastic exfoliator. A little goes a long way! It starts off very sticky and gooey, but the the from your face slowly changes it into an oily liquid consistency. I massage it all over my, avoid the eye area. I spend more time around my t-zone and don't rub as much on my cheeks as I have fairly sensitive skin. I leave it on for around 10-15 minutes.. then I use warm water to rinse... it leaves my face amazingly soft and smooth. I use this twice a week and have dewy glowing skin. I get lazy when I am on holidays and on vacation and don't use this and I definitely notice my skin does not seem as dewy and clear. It is a pricey product, but considering how I only use it twive a week and only need very little of it, I think it is definitely well worth the high price tag. On a side note, my younger brother now uses it too! He has very sensitive skn and his nose area is always flaky and dry, but also tends to break out also... but he now uses this and he has noticed a great improvement!

Trust me, this is THE BEST PRODUCT EVER!!!!! EVER AND EVER!!!! Well, at least for me. All the exfoliants, either with particles or acids, irritate my skin so much that I get breakouts. This wonder exfoliates much better (I notice how smooth the foundation goes just after a few uses - I hope I will not need any foundation soon), but all without irritation. Don't be afraid that it feels oily in the beginning. My acne and enlarged pores actually are disappearing. This is only seeming oiliness, but in fact it dissolves your oils, debris and dead cells. No other product did it for me EVER!!!!

Well, I have to agree with the reviewers below who say that this doesn't do much for their face in terms of exfoliation. I can't say I noticed the dryness either, it's just a product that doesn't do much for my face. With that said, it does work well for something else - my lips and I am giving it 4 lippies just for that. I am one of those people that gets affected with ultra-dry, peeling, cracked lips in the winter. Putting balm on my peeling lips does not help much, but a regimen with daily exfoliation and moisturizing does. Unfortunately, most lip scrubs are too intense and tend to tear the skin on my lips, so in one desperate attempt to help my lips, I reached for this. Every night before I go to bed I use this product on my lips (same approach as for exfoliating your face - masagge until liquifies, then wash off, just make sure your mouth is closed so you don't swallow any), then put on a lip treatment (I use Dior, but any moisturizing treatment will work) and when I wake up in the morning my lips are ultra-soft and moisturized well. The key is to use gommage every day or almost every day (not more than once a day) and to moisturize afterwards. I can assure you you will see an improvement in a week. Yes, it is an expensive product to perform that function, but if you only use a tiny amount (you won't need a lot for your lips, maybe a pea size amount) this will last you forever.

Got this in a GWP set. I can't use abrasive exfoliants because they irritate my skin and give me bumps. Besides, they are too abrasive and not a very graceful thing to do to one's self- even La Mer Refining Facial, that people claim luxurious and gentle, is (although EL laced it with heavy base and tons of shimmery particles to fool you into thinking that it isn't!) . My hands should never touch my face except in a loving way only, any other way then it should be left to professionals.
This is a thick grease that is worked into a delightful butter by the warmth of your skin. I have never enjoyed massaging my face like this before- I tap and massage with my fingers for 5 minutes. Very luxurious texture. I follow up with my regular skincare routine. My face feels and looks smooth and bright afterwards with oilies at bay. No any visible 'heads' on my skin with this stuff. Beautiful. Need I say I am buying full size?

This product is cool - it turns from a thick oil substance to a runny smooth oil almost instantly upon application.
BUT unfortunately, for me, that's where the positives end.
I tried this product because I couldn't justify the huge price for La Mer's refining facial, even though I know it works a dream on my skin (all of their products do). So I decided the $45 I paid for this was a better investment than $200.
This product feels pretty nice, but it doesn't actually clean my skin nor does it exfoliate and remove any dead skin. Basically I just rub around for a few minutes, add some water and then rinse it off. But my skin will either be dry on my cheeks after using this, or my nose pores will be clogged.
I also find that this product is VERY HEAVILY scented and I really worry about this because I have quite sensitive skin.
So apart from being a unique thing to try once - it did not exfoliate at all and was a waste of money for me.

I just had to try this, but nope, back to Pumice Peel by Bioelements. Frankly, I just do not have the time to wait for this stuff to turn into liquid, takes too long and seemed to dehydrate my face. Pumice Peel like the reviews on MUA give your face a glow, shrinks pores and really does work. This was okay, but not worth the price or the time.
EDIT: Go for the Kate Sommerville scrub, much better (not Kate in a Jar, the other one)

I received a tiny sample of this and I must say I am truly impressed.
I have very sentive skin that is easily damaged by harsh scrubs and other peeling products. My usual skincare regimen includes a light scrub every fortnight with Clarins' Gelée Fondante Démaquillante (One-Step Gentle Exfoliating Facial Cleanser), which I love (the fresh scent is simply to die for), but can sometimes be too agressive. As a result I get red, dry and itchy patches, so that's not a good thing. A salesperson (who has sensitive skin as well) from my favourite perfumery raved about it and convinced me to try it. And so I did...
The formula works in a special way; you have to apply the gel on dry skin, start massaging it in and after a few moments it turns into an oily substance. This gives a nice sensation (slightly warming) and the gel has a clean, rather strong scent. After I rinse it off, my skin is smooth and supple, with no tight feeling at all. I use it at night and don't even need to put on extra moisturizer (which is usually a big no-no after cleansing/ scrubbing my dry skin). When I wake up, my skin is bright and soft, no signs of irritation or dry patches.
So far I'm convinced. I'm still using the same small sample tube , but I will probably buy a full size when I finally finish it (it looks like there will never come an end to it). The price tag is steep, but considering it works like a small miracle and you only need about a pea-size, I won't be reluctant to give in to it.
To all the ladies with sensitive, dry skin, don't be afraid to try it, because for once this really is a winner.

Me - dehydrated but oily skin, prone to congestion, sluggish skin turnover. Currently using Differin so I need gentle but effective exfoliation.
Actually, I can purely pinpoint the reason to this product's popularity down to the fact that nothing else like this exists on the European skincare market so it is quite unique for the functionality of it. But in fact, this is what is called a Control Cream product in Korean brand skincare. I was using Charmzone's New Control Cream (see MUA for another set of very high rating reviews!!!) and then came across this by chance on COSME.net so I had to investigate if these were the same things.... YEP!!!
This product is crude compared to Charmzone's New Control Cream. Firstly, it has an artificial pearl gold colour - reminds me of SLS-rich shampoo. The scent is ok, but does seem a bit sharp for something that is a massage product. I also got some into my mouth and the taste is quite foul. I suspect it irritates my skin slightly, and texture wise is a lot stickier than Charmzone, harder to spread and tugs a little. It does not moisturise the skin at all, in fact leaves it feeling taut and over cleansed rather than softened. After one use, I can positively say I will not repeat, I will not stray from Charmzone again.
Charmzone's New Control Cream contains hydrating essences, which means your skin will feel softer and it does leave a "film" as it deposits moisturising agents into the skin. If you are into variety, Charmzone makes about half a dozen variants of the Control Cream from the different functional lines, like TopNews, Medicell etc.
YSL Gommage sans grains - 75ml/45USD
Charmzone New Control cream - 200ml + 50ml travel tube/under $30USD (varies between $26-29 and retailers have ongoing specials). Charmzone is easily available from various online retailers in the US
You definitely do not sacrifice quality if you try Charmzone, and you can be extra generous to use more product for a luxurious massage exfoliation.

I didn't start exfoliating until I got a sample of this and then bought it. It has done wonders! I find that my foundation smoothes on more easily without so much flaking, and my skin is softer.
I love how there are no grains because I'm always afraid of using them on my face. When you squeeze some out of the tube, it looks like gold. It is pretty fun to use because of how it liquifies. The key is to use it as often as you want, use on a dry face and make sure you wait until you feel it ALL become liquidy.
This is a unique high end product and a good investment.

I bought this product when it first came out ages ago and it did nothing. Over the years I have received sample size tubes of this stuff as gifts and and without fail, I am disappointed every time. The product liquifies and feels great as I massage it around, but no exfoliation takes place. I can assure you I have used it as directed but to be honest this product is a total waste of time. You'd be better off using a microdermabrasion cream or glycolic acid pads. If you're sensitive, use an enzyme exfoliant. Don't bother with this stuff, it's just a gimmick.

Well.... it did not work marvels on me!! It’s a nice product but to me it does not exfoliate as a “regular” scrub would normally do. I have combo skin and perhaps I want to feel a really polished skin after a scrub….I mean this texture is a bit weird as it becomes liquid after a light massage. I do not like it very much (but I agree, it’s a very personal opinion).
I guess this product will do very well for those with dry skins that do not like the little grains.
I ended up my tube using it every morning for washing my face…. But I am not sure I’ll be buying again .. there are more effective products.

Love, love, love this stuff! An SA first showed it to me a year ago, and I was skeptical, so she decided to give me a generous tester to take home with me because she swore that I would be hooked. And I am!
This has a sticky, honey texture upon initial application, but after rubbing into the skin, it blends into a liquidy texture, and after I wash it off, my face just feels so soft and smooth. Since it has to be used on dry skin, I usually will choose to use it in the mornings. I typically use it no more than once a week (though I think you could use it more often without adverse effects), and it gets rid of all the flakiness without being abrasive or irritating the skin.
This is expensive, but well worth it.

I absolutely love this product! I've gone through 3 tubes of this Gommage and I am still unwilling to try anything else. i love that its granule free, because it just seems to be gentler on the skin compared to grains which are so coarse and leave the skin so dry. i have combo skin, and during the summer when its very very hot and humid here in hong kong, my pores get blocked every week and i have a big problem with blackheads!! i have to rely on this gommage to clear out my pores, i use it every other day to keep my nose from looking like a strawberry. (i use it just on my t zone every other day and i use it on the whole face about twice a week) even tho i use it so often, my skin doesn't ever peel or itch (i don't have sensitive skin or acne prone skin so i can't speak for every skin type) and actually just feels very refeshed and CLEAN afterwards instead of feeling hyper dry and itchy and in need of moisturizer right away. this is so far the best i've used. it makes me very skeptical of granular scrubs as they're not fine enough to get rid of my blackheads and they're too harsh on skin for me to use often enough to clear my pores (i've used origins charcoal scrub, shiseido pureness exfoliator, biotherm scrubs before and none were good) it's a must try.

I'm a huge fan of mild microdermabrasion about once every two weeks. I was using Mary Kay's microdermabrasion step 2 as a light scrub, but I felt that once in a while it was making me red and I couldn't help but feel that I was doing a disservice to my skin by using a scrub, however gentle it was. This is the coolest texture ever. I smooth it on and it's as if the warmth of my skin starts to liquefy the stuff's texture into something so unique. My skin just glows. It loses one lippy b/c it's outrageously priced, but I've had the same tube for about 3 years using a small amount every 2 weeks, and just now do I need to look into buying more.
