I'll start out by saying i am a pale person. i do tan, but it takes me WAY too long so i prefer self tanner. anyways, i normally use the Fake Bake Airbrush Self Tan, but it was out of stock so i decided to try the mousse instead. I really do NOT like this product. first of all, the guide color was barely noticeable on me and i'm pale. after i applied it to my whole body i let it set for a couple of hours and then noticed it looked really patchy on areas of my body that crease (elbows, knees, neck, etc.) so i applied more there hoping i could combat it. NOPE. no matter how much i applied it would just not tan those areas. you can NOT sweat at all when this is setting. even a small amount will cause the formula to dissipate. i ended up just going to bed hoping that by the morning things would have evened out. They didn't, and i wasn't even that noticeably darker. i've had better results using the jergens gradual lotion on the first day. it was a lost cause. i jumped into the shower to wash off the guide color, and it left me with a tiny tint of brown. i paid $26 for this and i've had better results with an $8 product. VERY disappointing. this has completely turned me off to all Mousse self tanners. if you do not like this product i would suggest using the Fake Bake airbrush tan. it gives MUCH better results. I use it once and i'm as tan as i want to be, and i never getting streaky. I guess self tanning is kind of hit and miss. you don't know what you hate until you try it, and now i know i hate this mousse.

Too much trouble for too little pay-off: (i) consistency: too watery to promote uniformity of application; and, (ii) colour result: insubstantial and uneven.
Try St Tropez mousse for superior performance.

Don't be put off by the negative comments. It is best if you try it yourself. I like this product very much. When you put it on and wait for a few hours (in my case I put it in the evening before going to bed) and then you go take a shower, the upper layer washes off, but this is what is supposed to happen. I am medium, so I need to do that three days in a row to get the tan I want. It even says on the packing that you should use it as many times one after another until you get the desired colour. As I said, for me 3 days are enough- the tan looks great on my medium skin, so I will definitely continue using this product!

I bought Fake Bake Beyond Bronze Self Tan Mousse for £25 and what a waste of money. I am the same colour as I was before I put it on.

Price - far too expensive for what it does.
Application - quite easy to apply, but did take a while to ensure it was even all over my body. Tanning mitt helped. The colour guide was a gorgeous brown so I was quite hopeful.
Smell - didn't have that initial horrendous fake tan smell but after about an hour it did smell as strong as most other fake tanners.
Length of application and transfer- Left this on overnight as you generally do, did transfer onto my sheets as expected but they washed clean with no staining.
Final tan - I had a shower 12 hours after the application and pretty much the WHOLE lot washed off down the drain! I tried again the next night thinking it may need a top up but the same thing happened again, and within a day, any slight colour I had has now gone.

I myself am olive skinned so I already have quite a brown base colour. I don't know if this is any good for someone with a fairer skin tone, but if you're darker skinned like me, do not even try this product. Would never buy it again or recommend it to anyone - in fact, I think I'm going to write a complaint to Fake Bake about wasting my money!

I'm an experienced self-tanner; have tried nearly all the high end brands. I recently began using Fake Bake after a few years hiatus. I usually buy the lotion, but it was out of stock, so the SA recommended the mousse. I really really don't like it. The mousse is quite difficult to apply and kind of gets clumpy. It also takes a VERY long time to dry. Really, it doesn't seem to dry at all, even after hours. I waited 3 hours the first time without dressing, yet it still got all over my clothes and sheets.
And the worst part? It gives nearly no colour. The colour guide is very dark, but once you've rinsed off, it only leaves you with the SLIGHTEST colour, barely noticeable. It also makes your face look fairly dirty.

In my opinion, go with the lotion. Much better product

This is my all time favorite tanner. It has awesome color, it dries fast and it has an excellent color guide. I apply this self tanner with a kabuki brush and it gives a perfect, streak free finish that's dried in seconds. No orange hands and it's mistake proof with this method. I use the kabuki for all my sunless tanning applications, working the best with mousse formulas.

This is the first high end self tan i have purchased, I have tried many high street brands..preferring to go with a dry mist fake tan, but due to it becoming patchy after a few days I opted to try fake bake. I got it online for £17.99 for the 118ml bottle, about £5 cheaper than the RRP.
I chose the Mousse as it states that its easier to apply and can be used on the face, as its non comedogenic (i do sometimes suffer with spots). I also found that i'd get a rash on my chest after showering when i've used other self tanners.
I followed the instructions, i made sure i exfoiliated and moisturised. I doned on the latex gloves that came with the product and started to apply. The first time did take a good half hour as i was scared of applying it wrong and being streaky. I think the guide colour does freak you out a bit but dont worry! I put it on my face initially but it looked so dirty! i think i put too much on so washed it off and put a light cover on my face..bit better. It did look a tad green/grey under lights, but I left it on and went to bed...it does rub off on sheets but easily washed off.
In the morning i showered and the guide colour ran down the drain, it wasnt as dark as i'd imagined but still left a nice natural bronzed colour - no streaks!. I did think my face looked a bit dirty, but on the 2nd day it looked nice n bronzed.
I do really like this fake tan. With practice I can now put it on alot quicker as i know it wont streak, i dont even bother to exfoiliate beforehand. One bottle did last me about 10 applications..which was quite good. If i want a darker colour i'd repeat the next day, I tend to use a dry face mist self tanner for my face as prefer to use a makeup bronzer to give me that 'tanned glow'.
I've had no problem with it going patchy, it fades well. It doesnt take too long to dry, but may feel tacky for a while. But i still put on my pj's and its fine.
I've repurchased a 2nd bottle so sticking with this for now :)

I have a real love/hate thing with this mousse. I have also used St Tropez mousse and Piz Buin mousse for direct comparrisons.

Things I love about this
- The colour, on fair skinned blondes or similar that don't naturally tan then this gives a fabulous colour.
- Easy to apply with a mit or gloves, it rubs in well. The colour guide is alarmingly dark, the first time I used it I nearly had heart failure, but at least you can see where you have it and if it's blended evenly so no streaks or blotches at all.
- OK smell

Things I hate
- It takes ages to dry, it's not like St Tropez when you slap it on, wait 10 minutes and head out the door. You really need to give yourself at least 45 minutes before dressing if you need to go out and then wear dark clothing. This WILL stain any light clothing or your bedsheets until you have washed off, but it does seem to come out in the wash.
- When it says don't get wet or sweat - DO NOT get wet or sweaty. I used this when I stayed in an air conditioned villa and that was fine, but here in the UK when it gets hot at night you sweat!!!! The first time I used this I used my roll on underarm deoderant as usual before applying and that was a huge mistake (I never have a problem with ST). So for 4 hours you need not to get hot or wet or dressed!
- People, you can smell the self tanner smell - it's really no better or worse than St Tropez, just a bit different.

So do I buy this again? No, the airbrush version is so much easier - I just cannot devote 4 hours to standing in a climate controlled area each time I want to look tanned!

I was the color of green poop. I am lucky though because any color I got from this mousse washed of in two showers. On the plus side, the mouse smells OK. I do not reccomend this one.

Pros: Very little self-tan smell. I've used a ton of different self-tanners, and this is one of the only ones that doesn't smell that funny. It's also a great color once you rinse off the color guide - not too orange or yellow, just a nice brown.

Cons: This was the most difficult mousse I've ever applied. Savage Bronze and Neutrogena's mousse go on much smoother. Like the other reviewers said though, when you rinse in the morning, your tan is even - for the most part. One area of my arm is a little nasty looking, but it was drier than the rest of my body, so I'll forgive the tanner. The biggest con is that this tanner gave me a rash. I couldn't sleep last night because I kept itching, and now that it's been about 12 hours, two showers, two applications of Creme de Corps, and a Claritin later, the itching is starting to go away.

I'll be returning it, but would give it another chance if not for the rash. Very little odor and nice color. Hope you all have better luck!

I really like this product, as it has never turned me orange or streaky. Just a nice bronzey-brown that looks totally natural. I've even put it on areas that have never seen the sun (like my butt and chest) and the color looks perfect. The indicator is VERY dark and dirty looking, so it's best applied at night a few hours before bed. I usually hop in the shower, exfoliate like crazy, then apply this. The next morning I look tan tan tan. Always use gloves. I made the mistake of thinking I would just wash my hands after the first time, but this stuff is very quick drying so I had to take a pumice stone to my hands, which was a bit ouchie. So worth the price, and blows all of those drugstore brands off the shelves.

The guide is a little dark, so if you're not planning on going anywhere... Stay home! Also, be wary about applying this stuff before you go to bed. I happened to drool in my sleep that night and had a green streak on my face from that stuff. People complained about it being green... It states on the bottle to not get it wet for a few hours... So that is probably why. Drool, water, same diff.

I don't know where this went wrong, but I am a streaky mess. I applied like i used to and love the dark color guide, but when I washed it off the next morning, I looked like a had a skin disease and I was dirty. I followed the instructions to a T and I am so disappointed. I had used this before I loved the results. Again not sure what happened, but I will not repurchase. I will stick with my L'oreal Sublime Bronze in Deep. It may stink like crap, but I get a nice, even natural tan.

I am very fair and have tried all kinds of self tanners, from the most expensive to the cheapest. I always come back to this one. There's no doubt that it's a little weird to apply, but as long as you use gloves and know in advance that the color guide will look muddy and a little streaky - don't panic and try to overblend - you'll be fine. After the guide comes off the color is such a perfect light golden brown (anything darker on me just looks too obvious) and I've never had a problem with streaking. I understand why you might freak out when trying it for the first time - but the streaks you see on your skin from the guide will not show up on your tan - it's very even after you wash. The mousse fades evenly, but incidentally I used the lotion on a trip to Hawaii and it did seem to fade in a spotty way (could have been because the color was much more pronounced, and I layered three days in a row) so I can only really vouch for the mousse in that area. The lotion and gel are a little too sticky for me, but the mousse dries right away. It lasts about the same any other good tanner, I don't think there's any magic formula out there that lasts more than 3-4days anyway. Most importantly, this product does not give me the horrible dried out lizard skin that almost all the other tanners do, so my skin is smooth. Even though it takes a little extra effort, I think it gives the best results I've seen. Definitely recommend this 100%, but be sure to follow directions, or I can see how you may not be happy with it. I'm going to put some on right now.

After reading good reviews on this, I tried it. No luck. The color guide color was so dark on me and I couldn't get it to blend properly. I rushed into the shower and rinsed it all off, as I was scared it would dry streaky. My savage bronze from Sally's blends better, so I will stick with that. I can't comment on the color as I didn't let it dry.

This is such a great product!! Im on my 3rd bottle and would not use a different self tanner.
A lot of you are saying you find it hard to blend and rub vigioursly!! DONT!!!!! You are applying the tan wrong!
When you apply it literally just smooth it over your body, rubbing gently a bit at a time. The guide colour is excatly what it is - a GUIDE! Its not the actual tan itself, once the product is distributed over your skin it will tan perfectly and not streak!!

I find the mitts you can buy in the chemist very helpful especially for mousse application!

Fantastic product. On my first application - a subtle hint, on my second - perfection! The results? Extremely natural, healthy and glowing. I adore the colour. The tan lasts much longer and fades better than other brands, most of which left me rather yellow and orange!

I have noticed some very slight streaking when applying, but if you have made sure to apply thoroughly and evenly, it is most likely just the colour guide and will not affect your final results. It did not for mine.

**Recommended for pale to medium fair individuals. Not recommended if you desire a deep, intense bronze - it may be achieved, but only with numerous applications.

I'm still a bit unsure about this and am glad I received it in a swap rather than paying for it!! It has both good points and bad but I think overall the bad outweigh the good. Its incredibly difficult to apply (and to think I thought St Tropez was a pain) it needs an even application and alot of rubbing in to avoid streaks. Its very messy and stains hands (wear gloves at all times!). Having said that when applied well the colour is natural looking and not the slightest bit orangey. Staying power is ok but not as good as St Tropez. Overall I doubt I'd repurchase.

This is the absolute worst product ever created! Its color is a greenish light brown, its unatural! I was talking to a girl who loved hers, and she was the color of veggie loving dog's bowel movement! Its sticky, smelly and hard to apply! I usually love other self tanners, but this was a waste of money! A tip to everyone out there who uses it and loves it, you dont look natural and you dont look good! Its like lindsay lohan with white hair...its just not right! Discontinue use immediatly!

Im on my 4th bottle of this..like everyone else..this color is good if your PALE!! This isnt one of those dark, crazy orange insane tanning lotions..its light and gives a natural tan look without being orange! Some people are shocked at the "green tint" it has..Uhhh yeahhh green neutralizes the red/orange tone that most self tanners have..so it washes off, then your left with a brown color...LOL This stuff is totally foolproof, unless you have dry cracked skin..but this will come out even on you, and its not hard to apply, just takes a little effort thats all..but its worth it in the end:)
