My hair is a dull red, but when I spend a lot of time outside in the sun it lightens and I get natural lighter streaks. This is what I was trying to achieve with this product, and it definitely worked! It made my hair just look brighter, and softer. It added subtle light to darker parts of my hair, and I love the way it looks! My hair is also so much softer whenever I use this. I'm currently on my third bottle.

I just hate the smell, it is disgusting. I want to gag whenever I open the container, but aside from that I love this product. It is a little expensive in my opinion, but I don't use that much at a time so it's not so bad. I'm really glad I bought this! I just love the way it makes my hair look.

A few months ago I reviewed Cynthia's Stout shampoo, and in that review I mentioned I thought I was noticing brassy tones peaking their way through my blonde hair. I returned that product and continued to use Marilyn, because it left my hair silky and such. When I went to have my hair colored, my stylist asked "WTH" had I been using in my hair. There were streaks of chicken fat yellow that took a time consuming, heavy head of foils to correct. After discussing ingredients and such, we narrowed it down to this product. I still to this day don't understand why companies that make products for blondies that are YELLOW. That's the last thing we want in our hair. I am not certain whether or not these products actually impart yellow tones, it might just be a psychological aversion. But if you think about it, bleached/heavily highlighted hair is porous and has been known to soak up color, even if it is from a pool. But I digress. Something in this did not agree with me.

ANYWHO, if you are a light blonde, be careful with this! Ask for a sample first. This was a $100+ mistake for me. :(

- My favorite Lush hair treatment, actually hair care product period.
- Packaging is OK; typical Lush black tub
- I thought the smell to be quite nice, not overpowering but long lasting. I can't really descripe it, I'm sorry. ;-(
- Although Lush hair treatments are rather expensive and I can only get 4 uses out of them (on dry hair / good coverage) this product is worth it.
- I have fine but a lot of honey blond hair prone to damage, frizz, dry and fly away hairs. I also use heat (CHI iron) twice a week, but I stopped with the bleaching a year ago... and this is a miracle worker. Marilyn makes my hair soft, shiney, full of moisture and even a little 'blonder'... I will always have at least one tub in the house!

Lush hair treatments are all just fabulous. I like my hair au natural, the colour is very dark brunette with some goldish and coppery red pigments. Thanks to Lush, it's very healthy, thick and beautiful, and there are a lot of them. However, enough on my hair:) I want to tell you a trick I do to get the most out of Marilyn. I made my own chamomile infusion and poured it in one empty spritz bottle of a Lush toner. I spritz it on my hair before applying Marilyn. This way I get them hair damp and application of Marilyn is even easier that way, it spreads easily and doesn't acquire that much product in quantity. I used to henna my hair with Caca Rouge, but due to my dark hair colour the result wasn't the radiant red I wanted. With Marilyn, it doesn't only removes my ugly orange from henna, but I can see my brunette becoming more and more goldish with each use! I have to make sure to expose my head to some light, sunlight is the best. It is beautiful. People ask me if I've dyed my hair! I get about twenty (20!!) application out of one pot, and it lasts me a bit less than a year. That way it really is worth the money.

I have super thick hair that tends to get a little dry, so this is a great mask to add moisture. I feel that I get more benefit (and money's worth) by applying it at night, and washing it out the next morning. I always have good hair days the day I wash it out! I don't know if it adds any blonde tones, but my hair is shinier than before I used it. It is pretty runny so I have to be really careful when applying. Wish it came in a bottle instead of the tub. It is pricey but not too bad if you use it once a week as a mask.

MY FAVOURITE LUSH PRODUCT EVER AND ALSO MY FAVOURITE HAIRCARE PRODUCT! I would repurchase this over and over and over again, it does wonders for my damaged, highlighted blonde hair. First time I used it, I got so many compliments for my hair, everyone was asking if I had had it cut or styled at a salon! It really gives salon-washed hair results for me, it looks as if I've paid to have it cut and styled. It makes my split ends look non-existant and really smooths, detangles my hair. The smell is a little weird, not awful though, kinda like lemon and oat/cereal scented..I can't describe it. First, I shampoo with Aussie then condition with Aussie also, then apply Marilyn for as long as possible, usually 1-2 hours however on the container it says you only need 20 minutes, which imo isn't long enough to feel the full benefit. I know it is pricey, but I get 4 applications of this, which is quite good and my hair is 4 inches past my shoulders. To be honest, I wouldn't say it made my hair any blonder/lighter but it makes it look so healthy and light looking, which was what I look for in a conditioner/treatment mask. I keep feeling and touching my hair when I've used it, it feels soooo soft and clean looking! When straightened after using it, it works so well and it actually stays straight all day. Doesn't weigh hair down or make it look greasy like other conditioners. Couldn't recommend this more, it is fabulous.

I've only tried this product with wet hair and honestly it's done an amazing job for the first time ever!
My hair feels softer already and I know when I straighten it, it'll feel amazing!
Price wise, it's a little pricey..but if you use this with another moisturizer and switch them up you'll be fine.
Packaging I LOVE, the little personal touch with seeing who's made your product is really cute and something I like.
I'd buy this product again and try it like I should with dry hair and let you know how it goes :)

I wish this and Hair Doctor were both larger because you need *a lot* to cover your whole scalp/hair. I found it really did wonders for my light frizzy blonde hair, and I felt it definitely made my hair healthier. As per the blonde-ing effect- the John Frieda blonde(r) products work better. However, I felt that with my highlights this product changed the tint of my blond--making my hair look overall more natural in color. So its either keep my regular routine of deep conditioners + John Freida blonding products or buy this again. I think it will definitely find its way in my life again, but it would be nice if I could permanently replace two products with this one.

+Great scent
+Hand-made (apparently)
+Nice texture
+Moisturises well

-Can be too heavy, hair gets greasy quickly
-Weighs my hair down
-Pricey
-Instructions are too difficult to follow (you supposed to apply it before shampooing and leave it in for like 10-20 min)

When I wash the mask out, my hair feels like snotty silk. And I love it! After drying it's still very soft, with a lovely smell. I don't think it does anything for my blonde hair, but I will buy again!

I have been using the product for about.. a few months now! I can honestly say at first I saw nothing, and now I see LOTS of difference. I wouldn't use the whole thing on all my hair because I find it wasteful.. so I have made my own recipe.. I wet my own hair first(damp not soaking).. I don't think more product equals more result when using this... then I mix 2 tablespoons of this in a bowl with 1 tbsp of water and 1 tbsp of pure squeezed lemon juice. Then I mix it all over my hair! But I don't leave it in for 20 minutes but rather would leave in for 1 hour to 1.5 hours.. if I'm lazy then only 30 minutes.. but I only leave it in if I go outside! That's the trick!! You put it all over and go in the sun for 30 mins to 1.5 hrs! At first the results were subtle for my light brown hair but now my bf's parents say I am a blonde! If you are a blonde this might make your hair more yellow than a salon would so I would recommend perhaps a blue shampoo to remove brassiness!
To tell you the truth, I find it really works in the sun! And, I would recommend it to anyone who goes in the sun just to lighten hair. It also makes hair SUPER soft, because it is a deep conditioner .. I probably wouldn't use it the same way if you just wanted a deep therapy for your hair. But it is now my HG hair lightener!

I tried this for my hair with a few other LUSH products, and was disappointed in this one. I found that I needed to use quite a lot of product, and since the pot isn't very large (very cute though, love the look of it in the bathroom), it ran out quite quickly - not good when a pot is quite expensive! I couldn't see a noticeable difference in my hair, and it definitely didn't do anything for its blondeness. Would not repurchase.

First of all I must say I looooove the smell of this stuff! It's one of my favourite smells!!goooood!
Anyway, this is an excellent moisturizing hair mask, it really does brighten my blonde hair! My poor locks have been through volountary hell: i'm a natural ash blond and have been all my life so in december i started experimenting with different types of blond (golden, platinum, darker with highlights...) AND I had a perm 6 weeks ago! So it really needed help. I stopped using harsh chemicals and now rely on oils and butters and honey and flaxseed gel to strenghen and moisturize it. As of 10 weeks I haven't done anything to my color so I'm using marylin to brighten everything up while giving it some TLC!
Needless to say I love it, my hair is soft and bright after I shampoo it out (I leave it on at least 30 mins- up to 2 hrs)
Have and will buy again!

Ive been using the Moisteriser for almost a year now. I love the smell and I love the effect it has on my blonde hair.

I leave it in for like 45 minutes, then wash my hair with any LUSH shampoo.
It leaves my hair soft, but not to soft and it adds an amazing shine to my hair and my hair is slightly lighter after using this product and it gives a lot of body/volume to my hair.

Mmmmm - what a fantastic mask!! I have brown, thick and wavy hair and wanted to treat it.. this made it incredibly soft and the smell was amazing! Such a sweet, pleasant smell. I love how smells bring about feelings, and this one made me feel light, refreshed and girly.

I can't believe no one mentioned this - put it on wet hair! That way you need less product and it goes on easier, that's what the SA told me and it was so easy to do. I put this on and wrapped my hair in a towel and waited for about 2.5 hours, I figure that's as long as it'll need to penetrate the hair properly. Then, just rinsed it out and shampooed twice, and conditioned. I got this as a sample in a jar, and my hair is a bit longer than shoulder length and it was enough. Remember the wet hair tip!

A staff member advised me to buy this when I ravaged my hair with bleach. It just left a heavy build up on my hair that made my blonde hair look dirty, dull and brassy at the time- RUBBISH!!! Used Aussie 3Min Miracle instead- it is the best thing ever- cured my hair!

man, i would buy this again if only for the smell. if lush has anything else that smells remotely similar to marilyn, i want to buy it. and i wouldn't describe it as lemon cream or any such thing. to me this smells exactly like the sweet tea you get in the south, maybe with lemon. kind of like how firefly sweet tea vodka smells! or an ARNOLD PALMER!!! consistency is a bit runny and it's a bit too expensive imo to use as anything other than a deep treatment. plan on leaving it on for another hour or two (it's on my head at the moment) and reporting the results.

fwiw i have dark brown hair that has been darkened with henna. i have heard good things about lemon & chamomile being some of the only things that will "remove" henna.

will update soon!

***

update! removed this stuff from my head and had a great shower w/ "the blonde" shampoo (also purported to lighten) and i have to say my hair feels AMAZINGLY soft. i'm really much more impressed w/ this stuff than the other deep treatments i've used from LUSH. i doubt i'll be buying it very often because of the exorbitant price. i imagine i'll only get one more treatment out of the pot, and i have barely shoulder-length thick hair.

as a natural brunette, i would caution anyone that this won't lighten your hair significantly, but it will give some nice brightening tones!
