Fracas is undoubtedly a great perfume, in the sense that it "creates the taste by which it is to be relished." As everyone knows, it is THE reference tuberose. And for that reason, very much a matter of personal taste. A few years ago I developed a fascination for this opulent, buttery tropical scent. It is redolent of sex as almost no other perfume is. I don't get a refined soliflore, or a cosy skin scent, as some other reviewers have. For me, Fracas has something almost indecently fleshy about it. I find butteriness, yes, but also rubber, in a fetish sense. Think large fleshy petals. This perfume reminds me that flowers are the sexual organs of plants.

My love affair with Fracas has paled somewhat, probably because as I get older, I find myself craving subtler and more complex scents - Chanel Bois des Iles, Hermes Osmanthe Yunnan, Ormonde Jayne's Woman for day, or spicy orientals for evenings out (Guerlain's Attrape Coeur or Vol de Nuit; or my bizarre addiction to Prada's dirty patchouli and amber). Fracas is an obvious sex bomb; a knockout scent for making an impact on a swanky night out. I don't go to that kind of party anymore.

Another HG fragrance for me, I need to try the eau de parfum version of this as i've only ever had the parfum. Sooooo this is definitly what everyone claim's it to be, it's iconic in it's own right, powerful, strong and very much out there, the parfum is quite creamy, very strong yet soft, literally 3 dabs will do me and as much as i hate to say it i am the type of person who sprays perfume like its there's no tomorrow (slap me) but this is there till you have a shower, and even then you need to scrub this sent away it just will not budge! i'm definitly gunna order the eau de parfum when i get round to it, but personally i think everyone has to try this in parfum form, it really is the most beautiful scent, try it! i'm on my third bottle!

I finally tried Fracas, and although it isn’t the type of fragrance that I typically wear, it was everything I hoped it would be: intense and visceral. There are already several fantastic reviews describing Fracas, so I really do not have anything to add, except I can only imagine what it was like to sniff this in 1948. It must have been mind blowing, like hearing the Stooges’ “I Wanna Be Your Dog” for the first time in 1969, although Fracas doesn’t evoke same sense of self-loathing. Today, contemporary music uses new technology unavailable to Brian Eno during the 1960s and 70s. In perfumery, we have Carnal Flower, an excellent tuberose update; however, the 2005 iteration can only aspire to evoke the same magic (cultural relevance) created by the initial composition.

I've been wearing Fracas for a week, and every day I seem to register something different. For a long time, all I got was Smarties candies. Then on a hot day, it suddenly blossomed into a giant bouquet of tuberose, narcissus, gardenia, every white flower you could think of, and a touch of dirty musk. Tonight I got a weird gasoline-like edge, and it feels kind of thin. I think I would like to own it, but I don't know if I could wear it on the regular.
*edit* after trying an armload of big white flower perfumes, I keep coming back to this one. It doesn't tip too far into skanky, honey-urine territory, it doesn't get the shrill, sharp note I get with less-expensive gardenia and tuberose perfumes. It's balanced, rounded and radiant.

Well, there is nothing wrong with this perfume. It's a nice buttery tuberose. It's not one of those strong old perfume that you could use as a disinfectant. I found it pretty, but it's nothing "waow" on me. When I am wearing it, I get a little bit bored, there is no alchemy happening. That's probably the main reason why I am giving it 3 stars only. I have read many professionnal revues about Fracas and all of them say it's a great classic, therefore I wanted to love it. Your chemistry doesn't lie.... it happens or it doesn't. However, the perfume is really pleasant. It's like a milky tuberose, sweetened with a hint of orange blossom. It's quite a change to have a tuberose that is not solar. It's rather creamy and floral and it's well structured, you can see it's serious quality. Nevertheless, I could have given it 4 stars, but the dullness in it made me give it 3 stars only. It's really about my own personal taste and my expectation about perfumes in general. Really nothing is happening while I am wearing it. It's like wearing a beautiful eye shadow shade that everyone is raving about, but that just doesn't make your eyes color pop !

I'm in love with Fracas. Beautiful from start to finish. My husband loves it and I always but a spray on the back of my neck at bedtime..for snuggling. It's expensive. Be careful of ebay buys, as they are sometimes very watered down. This has been my experience. Bite the bullet and buy from a reputable vendor. Worth every cent.

Wow.... This is a true diva.

It's VERY floral, a strong tuberose. So if you don't like florals this is not for you. This is the only flower scent for me.

I feel very feminine when I wear this and I love it. First time I wore this I got so many compliments. A guy in the elevator, a women at the office and a some of my friends couldn't stop smelling my wrist. If this scent work with your skin, it's magic - but if you overdo it , it will kill it. This is very, very heavy so please, only two sprays. It last for ages (around 8 hours).

I could never choose one perfect fragrance, being totally perfume-obsessed...but this is definitely one of my favorites of all time. If you love big, bold tuberose scents, this is a reference frag.

I have been wearing this perfume for years but it is not for everyone. I think people use too much or buy the cologne. Also, i think there are some fakes out there.This is definitely for women, not girls. And men love this fragrance! i get so many comments, i think about where i'm going before i put it on - don't wear it unless you want to be the center of attention. This is the only perfume my husband likes. The body lotion is also very nice.

To start off on a good note, as recomended by a fellow MUAer, I contacted the company direct to request a sample. It came really quickly in the mail, with a nice letter and was no cost to me. BUT. The fragrance itself, at least to me was a disappointment. I was curious about Fracas because it has been around for a while, and I like florals. More powdery than floral. Very "old lady" smelling on me with my body chemestry. I am open to trying more fragrances from the brand since it is a well known HE fragrance company, and the company was so friendly about sending me a free sample. I am going to check out some other choices from the brand.

First wore this back in 1987. Thought I loved it until my friend politely informed me that I smelled like mildewed wet towels. OMFG! She was right! Never wore this again and from that day forward no matter who is wearing this regardless the event or their age all I discern is the smell of wet towels. Revisited this last year in the hope my nose had matured, it hadn't. I still loathe this as all I smell is musty mildewed towels with a little bit of rose oil. Sorry ladies who love this, but clearly this doesn't agree with my chemistry. Horrid.

Mais oui, mais oui! The first truly womanly fragrance I've ever owned that wears without being an unpleasant reminder of some ancient dowager draped in an expensive but musty Murano lace shroud.

Tuberose, yes. Gardenia, yes. But on my skin an underlying sense of something wise and intriguingly sinister. It makes me want to strut with an old-world feminine air... an air strenghtened by an in invisible core of steel... and I don't just mean corset stays. Although... this is precisely how I imagine Scarlett O'Hara would have smelled at the height of her denied passion for Rhett. If ever the word Fracas defined anyone, it would have been her.

I purchased the pure perfume, and unlike all the many reviews I've thus perused, I do not find that this scent is overwhelming at all, in fact it disappears on my skin rather too quickly. Must be my DNA aching to absord all that it can, as quickly as it can, from our mythical Scarlett.

This is such a feminine, floral fragrance. None of the androgyny of the more modern stuff that crowds the counters. It lasts all day on me, and I love catching a whiff whenever I move.

I'm a lurker on the fragrance board, and Fracas is a fragrance that comes up repeatedly as a legendary perfume. I thought I wasn't a fan of white floral, but I'm starting to think differently after testing Fracas. I sent an email to the customer service at Robert Piguet asking if they sold samples,they asked me for my address, and sent me a free sample vial of Fracas and Bandit eau de parfum! I received the samples only two days after my request. I'm incredibly impressed with their customer service. Most perfume companies are stingy nowadays, so I was pleasantly surprised at their generosity.
Fracas is absolutely gorgeous. It reminds me of Spring when the trees start flowering. I was worried that this was going to be so powerful it would knock me out—since I've read so many reviews that place emphasis on its potency—but the sample that I received isn't overwhelming at all. I put a dab on each wrist, and I can't really smell any insane sillage. I asked my boyfriend if he could smell it, and he said he couldn't until I held my wrist under his nose. It's a very clean and realistic floral. I don't see this as being sexy or brash, but rather ladylike, classy, and soft. There's a creaminess to it, and it just melts into my skin. I'd wear this with a crisp, white blouse on a sunny spring day.

Delicious! I love tuberose, and Fracas is the ne plus ultra of tuberose fragrances. I've read lots of reviews about how this is an ultrafeminine/diva fragrance for special nights out, but I wear it any time (in very tiny dabs: my tester vial has lasted almost a year). I feel like it warms up my somewhat androgynous wardrobe.

Oh, Fracas... Where have you been all my life??? This is a lovely tuberose/gardenia scent with just the smallest touch of cream for warmth. It reminds me of Le Meridien's lobby in Cancun where they keep fresh tropical flowers in vases... So fresh, so clean, so tropical, so me... :-)

Fracas has legendary status in the world of perfumes. And I so wanted to LOVE it because of that. I first found this in a corner drugstore back in the late 60's or early 70's (when there were still corner drugstores) that had a weirdly eclectic assortment of fragrances. I bought it with my babysitting money (that's how young I was). It was AWFUL on me. Years later, I found it again and figured that a fragrance that hadn't suited me as a teenager (when I should have been wearing Love's Lemon) would suit me now as a grown woman. WRONG. It still smelled dreadful on me - too heavy and cloyingly sweet. Just not the scent for me and my skin chemistry or my fragrance preferences or maybe both. I envy women who can carry this scent off; I'm just not one of them.

The EDP is a bit harsh to me. But the parfum . . . wow. It's a fragrance that, in parfum form, melds with the warmth of my skin and becomes part of my natural scent. I feel comfortable in this. This is a glorious tuberose, yet for me it's much more. My nose always picks up something different from it. There's something slightly edible about it---bread, a touch of salt, I'm not sure. I also smell paper money? All of it together smells like hot skin. I know that sounds strange. I used up my little decant and had to buy myself a larger quantity; this is a classic fragrance that will definitely stay in my wardrobe.
