How mad was I when I discovered this was discontinued?! It is the perfect setting/finishing powder and I've been using it for over 15 years. It gives such a great smooth almost airbrushed kind of finish with just a tiny TINY touch of sparkle to make your skin appear luminous in the right light. It prevents me from getting the shineys all day and I stock up when I order online. Got 5 of these on ebay for $10 so I should be well supplied for a while. :P

I use this every day. It controls oilyness so well! It gives my face that extra coverage when I finish applying all my make-up. Also makes it last a bit longer. I love this because there is no shimmer. It is all matte. I got this at Big Lots for like $2.50. Not bad at all!!! Love it.

This powder works great in fact. It controls the shine well on my fairly oily skin. It actually makes my skin look fresh because there are very very small shimmer grains in there, so it gives my face a fresh look, but not a glow. I would have given this product five lip sticks if this had a twist off cap, and an easy area to dip your brush in (without the seive) like the setting powder from Makeup For Ever.

I love this powder. It controls shine fairly well and adds a nice, healthy glow to my skin without looking ashy or OTT matte. It has small shimmers in it but doesn't look glittery or strange. It blends in with my skin very well as I am super pale and most powders are too dark or cakey on my skin. It's good for blotting in your T-zone. The only complaint I have is that it's a little messy to use if you shake too much out of the sifter. I can use this with a brush, a powder puff, and the puff it comes with. Totally worth the few dollars it cost, too, I don't think I'll ever run out.

Smells funny, verryy strong. It gets annoying after hour or so. I don't agree that is good for sensitive skins, gave me itchy face (sounds funny but its just horribly sensitizing). i have never had problems with "regular" powders, never had "itchy" face before, maybe i'm allergic. Also didn't give me any soft glow look that some people mentioned. won't buy or recommend it.

I have this powder in my bag for touch ups, and for that it works fairly well. I agree with the previous reviewer that said a light touch is needed - otherwise it does look dull and cakes up. It doesn't change color or oxidize throughout the day. It seems finely milled, and is transparent as long as it isn't piled on. The problem is the scent - it is strong and perfumey. It doesn't really disappear quickly. Why would anyone want their face to smell like old-lady perfume? I guess it does work as an appetite suppressant though - I don't feel like eating after powdering my nose with this!

I have used this product for years and like it best in the warm, humid months. I need to use a light hand when applying or else it looks heavy and flat. The color never changes, and it absorbs excess oil very well.

This is a great summer powder for my sensitive, combination skin. It sets my foundation and doesn't interfere with the color or application, which I was impressed with. And it controls oil all day without looking like a mask (at least for me). Yes, there is a definate fragrance, but it doesn't seem to bother me. I use this in the summer and early fall, whenever the weather and humidity bother my makeup, and I do use it off and on all the rest of the year, in conjunction with my Lancome loose powder. Good product that's been around for years - I think my grandmother and mother both used it as well.
EDIT: This disappears after about 4 hours, although the weather has been really humind and hot lately. I've had to reapply a lot and it kind of makes my foundation smear a bit. However, I think that if I use less moisturizer that may help. I'll try that and see.

I'm always looking for a powder that will help keep my oily skin matte, for longer, especially in the summer. This was the only powder at the drugstore I hadn't tried, but I took a look at the ingredients online, and immediately went and bought one. This has Silk Powder, Kaolin, and Zea Mays three excellent oil absorbers that most pressed powders lack, so I was excited. I love the compact it's very cute and feminine, the spongey puff actually gives a decent application, the powder itself really minimizes pores and doesn't really alter my foundation color, just makes it smooth and shine free. The only bad thing I can say, is that the fragrance in this powder is overwhelming, not sure why they made it so strong and perfumey, so one lippie off for that, but I do love this powder so far, and will continue to use it, barring any breakouts. UPDATE: I changed my mind, I can't tolerate the fragrance in this! It never goes away, it's VERY strong, and I feel like it's suffocating me all day until I wash it off. It literally gives me a horrible headache, and I generally don't mind fragrance. If they ever take out the overbearing perfume scent, I'll wear it again.

I read the wonderful reviews on here and knew I had tried this before, and could not remember why I didn't use it a lot. I tried it on and it looked perfect. Even after 5 hours of battling a migrane I still loved it. Went in to remove my makeup and the migrane was immediately gone. I was like huh, was that the makeup or was it allergies. So I tried it 2 more times with the same result occuring less than 10 minutes later each time. I was so sad. Not sure if is the ingredients or the fragrance. Best of luck and hope that it works for you. Looks are the only reason for the lippies, or I would be at 1!

I really wanted to like this product since I have the worst luck finding a decent powder for my shiny "T-zone"...sadly, this was not it for me. It made me break out horribly under my nose and chin. It was just "ok" at controlling oil. I found I had to re-apply more than a couple times a day. I've decided the best thing for me is to blot the oil with a clean tissue whenever I notice shine. On a positive note, the translucent shade did not interfere with my foundation, but still will not repurchase.

I too had not used this powder since the early 90's. My mom gave me this a year ago because she though she bought the wrong shade. I used it and loved it.The matte look lasts. I was wearing CG pressed powder but it seemed to wipe my makeup off when I applied it. Anyway I went to Walmart and found it in the small Sally Hansen area. Now they quit carrying it. I had to go to Walgreens and pay 5.99. The other day I saw it in the Bealls Outlet for 2.49!!! I need to try Biglots too.

Cornsilk, you're my hero! I love, love, love this powder. I'm a PPP with cool hues, and this powder is the first that is: a) not too dark for me, b) completely able to control my shine, and c) actually able to enhance my skin. I'm not kidding... I went to my grandmother's house and slapped on some cornsilk and mascara in the morning, and all day people complemented me on my skin. I'll never switch... Cornsilk, I love you! :)

It did a fairly good job at controlling shine (lasted a few hours before I had to re-touch) and it never gets cakey or makes my complexion weird, but UGH THE SMELL! I've never been that sensitive to even bad perfume unless it's really really really really strong, so I've never had any objection to the scent of any makeup since I usually can't smell it, but this smells so bad I have to hold my breath while I apply it. I think it smells like old people or something. And the packaging? This must've been really innovative back in the '80s. And I don't mean 1980's, I mean the 1880's. I don't think I could dream up uglier packaging if i tried.
All in all, a wonderful powder but shitty packaging and an unbearable smell.

I was reading through the Cornsilk reviews this morning and laughing since I haven't used it since junior high in the early 90s, so I decided to go grab one a lunch for kicks. I'm so glad I did! I wear EM makeup, and even though I use a loose translucent powder in the morning, I usually need a touch-up on T-zone by midday. There's no way I'd ever schlep around a loose powder and brush in my purse, but a compact? I think I see the light. First of all, the scent took me back to the gym locker room and images of all of us crowding around and daintily daubing our noses with this stuff. When I put it on just now, it looks fantastic! I'm quite a ghosty girl, so the "no color" actually matched my complexion almost perfectly, and I looked very flawless immediately--no chalky interim. Not bad at all. The sponge, though, could use an upgrade. With one application on a not very oily face, it already has that ground-in grease look on part of it. If the other reviewer is right and this is a new formula (mine indeed says "made in Taiwan") then I like it better than the old version--this seems to coat a lot more than I remember. Just so there's no confusion, the complete label on mine says "Classic Translucent Naturally Sheer Pressed Powder 35-02 No Color."

i really like this product. it controls my oil for hours. longer than any other powder i've used. i just wanted something that helped my oil without having any color (cause it usually looks cakey on me) and this product is perfect. doesnt look fake. seems to actually help my breakouts because it controls the oil. some complaints i have are...the packaging is odd..could look better. plus when my mom picked this up for me at the store she said one of the powder were open. also, this powder broke in the center when i was rubbing the puff on it. yea..cheap. i'm afraid the sides will break now. i still love this powder though..even though it could be packaged better. my word of advice..dont use it if you are going outside and will sweat. it might have been because it was mixed with sunblock, but when i started sweating it was streaking white. gross. i recommend this product nonetheless.

This powder is great. I have really oily, acne prone skin and it keeps me looking shine-free longer than other powders, it seems very gentle as well, and I haven't broken out. The price is pretty good at 5$, and the translucent color doesn't make you look made up. It goes on a bit thick for the first minute, but it seems to soak into your skin (maybe soaking up my oil...ugh!), and then you can't tell you have it on. Highly recommended for oily gals. This is my HG!
Update: Still a great powder, but now that I found Ben Nye neutral set powder, I dont reach for this anymore. I prefer the true lack of color in the Ben Nye to the mostly lack of color in the cornsilk.

I really like this powder for summer because it keeps my face matte and keeps my eye makeup from smudging. The only thing I'm not so keen on is the container. It can get really messy at times. However, that won't keep me from buying it again.

i've been using this and the loose powder for over 10 years now and IMO the only thing that's changed is that it went from a dark burgundy package to a blue one. the smell and texture is the same. i dip my puff, press it into my makeup, wait a minute or so and dust off the excess with a brush. i end up with an ashy cast that melts into my skin 5 minutes later and my makeup is flawless for most of the day. i love the compact, because as other reviewers have said, the loose version has little sparklies in it. also, when they say no color, they mean no color. this is one of my staples because it's readily available to me, but it's not an HG product. also, one lippy off because this used to cost $2 and change--it's now almost $6. the best powder, IMO is Ben Nye's Neutral set, which you have to get at a costume supply shop and you can get WAAAAAAAAY more powder for the same price.
