After all these years, this is still my "go to" foundation. Since Prescriptives discontinued selling locally in Dillards, I attempted other brands. Nothing worked on my acne prone, sensitive skin. This doesn't have fragrance and provides good coverage. Just wish I could purchase it locally instead of online. My 31 year old daughter had also used this since her teen years.

This is the HG of liquid foundations!!! If you have oily to combination skin, this is the foundation for you. There are so many colors to choose from and the coverage is medium to full and very buildable. Also, when used with a stippling brush, the finish is flawless. You can no longer purchase Prescriptives in retail stores, but you can now purchase online!!! Check it out, you will NOT be disappointed.

This is the best matching foundation, I've ever used, my skin is oily, I never get oily with it.
The color is a perfect match. It stays matte, it does not move around the face, nor does get into creases.
I will buy it again.
I use it in Fresh Antelope.

I am writing this for my daughter who has used this foundation for 3 years. She has one backup and that's it.

Too bad this line has been discontinued... now we should expect another hugely priced mu line -- don't know if any of you have noticed, but a good foundation is now starting at over $ 40.00.... pathetic.

My friend told me about this foundation and it's a really good one. I used this product for about 4 years (bought other foundations in between but always seems to go back to this) and I like it a lot. It's medium -full coverage with matte finish and the color matches my skin tone exactly. It lasts a long time since little is needed to cover the entire face and the price is a little high $45 but considering how long it took me to finish it was worth it.
However, I didn't like that it was a little dying during winter~~ even with a good moisturizer I still had dry patches.

This is a solid foundation. It is the best used in the summer though. When i used it during the winter, it seemed to look... odd? I am not sure how to describe it. I really liked that it helped keep my oil under control. Sad thing is this brand is now over. :(

This is the best foundation that I have ever used. I am a total product junkie and have never brought myself to feel strongly enough about a product to actually write a review about it. I normally try a product and then eventually get the urge for a new one and swich within a month or so. However, virtual matte is the most tride and true foundation that I have found. I have been using it for about 2 years. I apply it with a sponge and it goes on so smoothly and evens out my skin tone perfectly. I put on a little loose powder on top and throughout the entire day my skin looks flawless. It covers everything and I never have a need for a concealer. All that being said... I am DEVESTATED to know that it is being discontinued by Estee Lauder at the end of January. I want to know if there is anyone else out there that has fallen in love with this foundation too and has now been able to found another product that is similar to this.. possibly by Estee Lauder? Any reccommendations would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

I have noticed that the vast majority of reviewers on this site are MAC fans...I have been a die hard PX customer for over 25+ years. I purchase the custom blend foundation twice a year for special occasions and I use the Virtual Matte Oil Control Satin Finish in Vellum everyday foundation.

I love this product, and I find that it does not settle in my fine lines or wrinkles (I am 45+ years old). It has never caused me to breakout (acne prone/oily skin) and it never looks too dry or wet on my face.

been using this for 3 days - got a sample. Nice coverage, not too heavy or too light. Just matte enough for my older, oily skin. No new breakouts either, which I always get with MAC products

love this foundation! my new favorite and maybe my hg foundation. covers extremely well that i don't need to use concealor. matches my skin perfectly and after hours of wearing this on my face it is still matte. not shiny at all! absolutely love this stuff. only downside is the packaging. i wish it came with a pump. would definitely recommend this to people with oily skin. will buy over again.

I love flawless skin the most but this one is just as good especially for day wear. I got fresh antelope and im really pleased with the results. Very natural looking and easy to take off at night. Lasts all day and the color remains the same no oxidation at all. Perfect undertones for my skin, i fall in the yellow/orange category. Highly recommended.

I love this foundation on the clear areas of my face. I think it gives a nice finish, controls oil well and the colour match is great (I am fair and use Fresh Cream). But on my acne-scarred chin, it just looks cakey, sinks into my pores and accentuates the scars. I have tried every way to make this work (stippling with 187 brush, using different powders, setting with Fix+), because I love the colour match and coverage and it really does help stop me getting oily, but it just looks really obvious and unnatural on my chin. If you are oily but don’t have acne or acne scars, and your pores aren’t too large, I think this would be a great foundation, but it just doesn’t cope well with flaws.

Love it, hate it, then love it again. I have had a complicated relationship with this foundation. This summer, I love it. I initially found it to be a little too "made up" looking on my skin. But I just really had to be careful not to use too much. I could never use this in the winter, the salicylic acid is too drying then. But in the summer when I am oilier, I like it. It holds up well on my skin. I do get some shine, but not for quite a few hours. I love the coverage. I love Prescriptives color range. I think I will buy it again, I only wish it wasn't quite so expensive.

I've tried this product a few times. The color match was great and it blends well into your skin. It feels very light like having nothing on at all. Now for the bad, if you have any flaws, it tends to accentuate them. I am recovering from a bad break out. It looks flawless on the parts of my face that weren't affected. As someone else mentioned, it doesn't photograph well. For some reason, it makes your face look lighter than it is. Not sure what causes that.

yes this product is genius.
blends so well and colour is absolutely perfect. nothing cakey and phenomenal in any light.
but it says to use everyday as it reduces oil buildup. i wouldn't use it everyday. it gives you full coverage and does get greasy after 4 hours (mac blot powder is needed). but you can cos it feels like u've got nothing on.
plus it is pricey so really want to use it sparingly
BEST thing is any makeup on top of it looks amazing
too good

Like most, I have tried it all. This foundation is by far the best I have ever used. I am on my third bottle and can not imaging finding any thing that would be better. It matches my skin well, blends beautifully, stays on all day, and doesn't cause my acne prone skin to break out. I have since turned my 20 year old daughter on to it and she LOVES it as well. I will be using this for a long time.

I've been wearing this foundation for the past year and I'm still in love with it. I wear color Ecru 02 and it's a perfect match. It goes on smooth, blends easily (I use a foundation brush), covers any discolorations, and stays put for pretty much the whole day. I use a primer under it (Avon Magix) for some more staying power, but I'm extremely happy with this foundation. I will probably keep buying it over and over until I find a "better" alternative... although I don't see that happening :). It's a little pricey, but it lasts me about 3 months, so I consider it a good investment :).

i bought this product but NEVER used it so that is part of why i'm giving it 3 lippies BUT i did want to share that i was nervous about using this liquid. i switched from mac studio fix because prescriptives was supposed to be superior line for foundations. well i did some on-line research and discovered that the ingredients in the prescriptives virtual matte liquid foundation are identical to the ingredients in the mac studio fix fluid....IDENTICAL!!! now of course i don't know the amounts but they are listed in more or less the same order. i know for a fact that the studio fix fluid broke me out very badly. there are just a lot of ingredients in both of these products and one is algae extract which seems to be a bad ingredient for acne type skin. i just felt compelled to write a review to let people know. if you know you don't like mac studio fix fluid, do your research and determine if you're willing to try the virtual matte, i for sure wasn't so without using it i returned it and have now opted for a highly recommended, bismuth free mineral makeup.

I received this as a sample because I almost never buy foundation without trying it for a couple days first. Foundation looks good at the counter right after the MA applies it, but it could turn out different at the end of the day. Also, I have extremely acne prone skin and I need a foundation that doesn't cause break outs. I LOVE this product. It really stays on matte and it's a great liquid foundation. The colour was a little lighter than my skin tone, but it was the perfect colour (I kinda like colours that are a little light for me). I applied it with a sponge and it didn't streak. It gives medium to full coverage depending on how you apply it, but you still need concealer. It's not that insanely full =P.
I also set it with my blotting powder and it loasted the whole day and didn't feel drying or heavy by the end of the day.
I'd say it's worth every penny, but from reading the other reviews, it sounds like some people aren't happy with it. I'd make sure it was right for me before buying it since it is on the pricey side. I'm 20 and although perscriptives seems a bit old for me, if it works, it works.
Best LIQUID foundation I've tried (however, there is a powder foundation which I don't think anything will ever live up to.... Benefit's Get Even (read review on that).

Update: On my second bottle. it really doesn't control oil for me but since it is a good match I will continue to use it.

Had issues with color matching, SA thought i was much darker than i really am, and then put an even darker color in the bag. So i had to go back i bought Fresh Vanilla R/O. Perfect match, i think that is why i love this so much. My skin has a lot of red acne scars and it softens the look but i still need concealer. And it is a semi-matte finish, which is awesome cause anything dewy tends to make me look like a grease ball. Last a really long time applied with a make up wedge, a brush gives more coverage but i thought it was too much makeup on my skin.
