A familymemeber had this one, and I just adored it. I surfed the net for hours and hours, and I finally found a place (Galaxy perfumes, UK) where they had the perfume. I ordered it, it was quite expensive. But when it arrived I soon realised, its a true headache inducer. Everytime I wore it, I would get migreanes. Terrible. I ended up giving it away. Its the worst scent I ever had, I hate it. But have to admit, it smells very unique, and when my fathers wife wears it, its absolutely perfect, so...I guess this one depends on who wears it!

Very piney. Smells like real Christmas trees. Paradoxically though I think of it as 'blooming in the heat' it will never be my hg but I would repurchase. Sillage is huge and sp not bad. Notes as per Fragranctica are:
aldehydes, artemisia, lavender, green notes and nutmeg flower; middle notes are cyclamen, carnation, orris root, jasmine, hiacynth and rose; base notes are leather, patchouli, musk, oakmoss, cedar and sea notes.

I love this fragrance as it is totally unique, nothing I had smelled before smells like it and if you prefer to have personality in your scent, this is definitely a must get. It is also quite rare, selling at crazy prices on the net due to it being only sold during the holiday season, limited edition and news every once in a while that is is now really discontinued for good. I find that it works not only during the holiday season but during every season due to the green, sparkly, effervescent notes in it.
Wrappings opens with a dose of aldehydes, which causes an explosion like, scintillating effect that lends fragrances an unparalleled passionate character that nothing else matches. The aldehydes are sort of scintillating, green but with waxy character and the green notes are there with a bit of spice and then the florals rush through almost instantly and the floral notes in it are also quite unique and extremely feminine in nature, carnations with their spicy, cinnamic scent and hyacinth.
Sillage is really good but I find that lasting power is not the best, it can be reapplied during the day though. It is a very elegantly and unusually rounded composition of greens, spices, flowers and woodsy resinous drydown, however, almost linear.
I discovered it accidentally being offered a bottle at a great price thinking it was Aromatics E which I love as well but the two are quite different despite having a slightly similar base. I was so happy to have discovered it that I went back to get a Xmas gift set which are now 25 % off at the Clinique stores, if it is discontinued I want to have my bottle for sure and one goes to my mom to enjoy.
If it quite an experience and what a ride to wear this perfume.

This is one my favorite fragrances along with YSL Opium. It has a woodsy, floral oriental smell that is very unique. I have resorted to using this on special occassions because you can only get it once a year. Which every Christmas I ask my husband to get me a bottle. This is one fragrance where 1-2 sprays with last you an entire day. I love fragrances that wind down to a beautiful lingering scent into the evening. If you get a chance this winter season, seek it out and give it a whiff. You might find that this fragrance lures you in as well.

Wrappings reminds me of the Christmas season. Perhaps that it why you can only buy this at that time of year. It is exceptionally strong, and if you overdo it, it can be quite unladylike. It smells of pine cones and holly. It is heavenly in cold weather, especially when applied lightly. Heavy and overwhelming in hot weather...do not attempt it unless you want to be stoned! It smells like nothing else and if you are familiar with it at all, you will recognize it right away. I love it. Small bottle lasts forever.

First, let me state that I don't know how one can rate perfumes because what smells good can be so subjective. That being said, I've loved this scent for years. I get mostly an initial blast of sage, rosemary, and lavender from Wrappings and I love the woody, piney drydown. If I catch a whiff of it later on my clothes or sheets I'm always amazed by how wonderful it smells. I've gotten many compliments wearing it. I would put it on par with Chanel's Sycomore or Hermes' Un Jardin Sur Le Nil or even with Light Blue -- all of which could be described as unisex scents. Except I won't wear Light Blue anymore since it's become so ubiquitous. Wrappings is not a scent that you have to worry about others wearing. First of all, Clinique doesn't even market it and only a few stores sell it around Christmas time. The name sucks and the bottle isn't much to look at. I called Estee Lauder (Clinique's parent company) and was told that it was discontinued. It's not -- you can currently get it through the Clinique website -- but it's ironic that the Estee Lauder Corporation doesn't even know about one of its lines. A lot of people seem to think it's discontinued -- I see it for sale on eBay for more than I can buy it new at Clinique. I just bought another bottle because I fear that, with no marketing emphasis, it will eventually be discontinued. Longevity and sillage with this fragrance is great. A little goes a long way. And compared to Chanel and Hermes it's uber affordable. The ingredients note that Wrappings has both treemoss extract and oakmoss extract which makes me wonder if they're still selling stock made pre the IFRA ban. For more cogent reviews, by people who are more literate in perfume terminology, I would suggest checking out basenotes.net. Some reviewers have deemed this an unusual scent, but for me it's eminently wearable and lovely.

This was my signature scent in college. It's a beautiful chypher, with pine, cedar and citrus notes. Unlike many here, I actually like the stark, green opening, and I agree with those who've described the sexy, incensey middle as Christmas in a bottle. Alas, these days I find the carnation and jasmine notes somewhat cloying in the drydown. If the top and middle notes were the whole experience, I'd probably still be wearing Wrappings daily, instead of 5-6 times per year. It should be noted, though, that I have bad chemistry with florals; for many people, the drydown will be the most enjoyable part of this fragrance. And you'll get to enjoy that drydown for a long time, because this baby has astonishing sillage!
Clinique only sells Wrappings during the winter holiday season, which is also the perfect time to wear it. If you like chyphers, I strongly recommend seeking it out. Don't judge it by the smell in the bottle or on a paper strip; its middle and bottom notes will not reveal themselves there. Apply to the skin... SPARINGLY, because as others have noted, it's strong! I now pity those who had to endure me walking around in a cloud of this stuff in the 90's, especially since chyphers are such a love-'em-or-hate-'em affair. I assume the hate-'ems were just too polite to say anything; on the love-'em front, I received loads of compliments, with strangers sometimes literally chasing me down to ask what I was wearing.

I am so glad to have a chance to try Wrappings as I found out that not all of the Clinique counters carry this fragrance. This is an unexpected and unusual fragrance. To me it smells like limes, pine, and eucalyptus over a blend of warm herbs. Love.
Edit Dec 9, 2009: I purchased the gift set that included the edp and body smoother - this stuff is amazing. It's almost like a citrus aldehydic-chypre that's made especially for cold weather. Will purchase again and again.

This is a clean, woodsy fragrance with a hint of citrus and sage. It is potent and long lastig so use sparingly.

Very, very woody - pines, cedars etc. - can't detect any flowers in it- neither do I smell any melons. If you cannot stand any "normal" perfume based on lovely, romantic flowers - it might be worth a try. It is not very feminine, but rather harsh and uncompromising.

Wrappings is an unusual offering from a cosmetics company who generally plays it safe. Wrappings smells like the magnificent Yatagan when he's off his meds and in a skirt: not a frilly tutu, but more of a kilt, and with his bare, hairy legs showing. In other words, Wrappings comes off as rather masculine and would be perfectly at home on the guys.
There is a melon-like note that hovers around for hours. The melon note reminds me of something Roudnitska used in his Le Parfum de Thérèse. In Wrappings the melon is a mindful wink that this fragrance is marketed to women, but the note isn't very aggressive and the message gets lost in the piney woods. The fragrance has a wickedly long half life (which survives over many washings and at least one shower) and an equally powerful radius, so it must be applied very lightly. Very lightly. There's supposed to be a marine or ozonic note in here. I don't smell it, unless the marketers say ozone when they mean melon. I smell virile woods, lots of virtual cedar, pines and cypress along with the melon note. If Caron ever messes with Yatagan's formula, you'll know where to look for a suitable substitute.

This is one of the most feminine fragrances ever! I don't get any pine, or marine smell from this one; on the contrary, this smells very smooth to me, woody and spicy with something dark hidden, waiting to come out. It smells citrusy at first but only for the first half hour. It's VERY longlasting as others have mentioned and very ladylike. A little goes a long way, so be careful how to apply it. I used to wear it when I was 22 but I think it's really a woman's perfume. To me, it's simply the essence of a woman; a lady, a mother and a generous lover.

This is a scent I always love to smell on other ppl, but on me? not so much. It turns to something rather sharp and piercing, like an icepick to my sinuses.
RoseAmber kindly listed the notes here, but all I can pick up is the carnation, sage and cedar. Which is not bad at all. The first time I sniffed Wrappings, about 20 yrs ago, I said, "WoW! that smells like Christmas!" It seemed then to be all orange & pine & clove, like a pomander ball. Funny, guess my chemistry has changed in 20 yrs!
It does last forever on the skin and sillage is about 2 square miles, so use sparingly please!

This one is the prime example of less is more. I find the actual EDP spray near impossible to wear--no matter how little I try to apply it seems too much. Then, I spend my day in a cloud of insect repellant until I break down and take a shower. If I get *just* the right dose of scent on me, however, I understand why people enjoy this. Very green and fresh, and does remind me of Christmas! It's a happy-inducing fragrance. The body smoother is the way to go on this--it provides just the right amount of this scent--just don't apply it all over. A little rubbed into my pulse points is all I need. Heavenly! This only gets a 3 from me because it's too high maintenance. Hard to get the just the right amount on, hard to find, etc. I'll enjoy the body smoother I have but won't bend over backwards to track it down on the internet or at xmas time next year. It's something I'm only in the mood for on rare occasion.

I've had this fragrance since college and since then I havent used it very much. It was because Clinique had discontinued this wonderful woodsy, floral, oriental like scent that i fell in love with. It's a scent where 1 spray will last you an entire day because its intense, yet the scents calms down and just lingers for hours. I just found out today that Clinique brings back this scent just for the holidays and I am so glad. I'm due to get a new bottle and pass my wonderfully aged wrappings to my mother.

I have been using this on and off for years, discovered it when I worked for clinique. Initially I totally ignored this fragrance. My coworker was wearing this one day and when she told me it was Wrappings I could not believe it. When I first spray this on it smells like bug spray and pine. The dry down is totally different. It smells creamy and very clean at the same time. I can smell this on my clothes later in the day and it just smells so good. I never thought that a fragrance that initially smells hideous can dry down to such a lovely scent.

I don't know here folks, I smelled this fragrance about 10 years ago on some lady strolling through the airport, and it smelled divine on her. I bought it thinking that maybe it would be good on me too. I couldn't get past the initial smell, it's too green, too piney, and too potent,(which would be great if I liked it). I did get one compliment on it, but I couldn't get myself to wear it out, more than twice. Sent it to my friend, but she hated it. The only thing I would say I liked was it's strength, it wasn't wimpy, like some of the other scents out there, that charge a fortune, and fade pretty much right away.

I have heard so much about this scent and have read all the contrasting reviews on it, i couldnt wait till the holiday season to see what all the fuss is about. I can see why its such a love it or hate it type scent. Its very strong and powerful. A lot of reviews say this smells like pine. It is piney but it is also lemoney too. Actually, i find this VERY similiar to Eau Sauvage and Diorella. In my review of Diorella i described it as a carefree walk through a lemongrove on a bright, sunny, warm day. I would describe Wrappings as a walk through a powderey snow covered forest in sub zero temperatures with beautiful, tall pine trees all around you. Also, mother nature has chosen to bless the area you are walking in with a beautiful lemon orchard as well. Additionally, i am surprised Veitver is not a note in this scent. To me it dries down to a pure Vetiver scent, very very similiar to Guerlain's Vetiver. Its a shame this is only available in a tiny bottle and only once a year. Also, i find it very androgynous as well making it suitable for men as well as women. This is my favorite scent to wear when its freezing cold outside. Freezing temperatures seem to bring out the notes best in Wrappings. UPDATE 11/16/07: I just got through buying 4 gift sets of this stuff because i dont want to run out before winter is over. I think its a wise decision on Cliniques part to only offer this when the weather is turning cooler. Wearing Wrappings during hot, summer days just wouldnt seem right to me. I just wish Clinique would offer a full-size, 100ml bottle instead of the tiny little one.

I love this scent. It smells fresh and classy & expensive. I do smell pine in it. It is rather strong, so I can see why it wouldnt be for everyone. I just use a quick spritz before I put my top on and one squirt is enough for the whole day. I am also really glad that Clinique didn't totally discontinue this scent. The shelf life of this scent is also great!

I liked this Wrapping at the very beginning. It's fresh, clean, and green. Just like forest breeze on late summer. I can detect the pine scent very much. The staying power is amazing, I can still small the fragrant after 2 days I sprayed it on my jacket. I took 1 check mark off for the horrible packaging. I took another check mark off for I have never received any compliments from wearing Wrappings, eventhough they said that you should only wear fragrance to please yourself.
