i am liking this very much. my skin stays dewy and calm which is very important. using 2 times a day and must say in the morning i look a bit refreshed so that is nice. the White Ice moisturizer is not quite enough for my skin and use the Mist with any moisturizer and works well.

Another Arcona product I did not want to like... but I do! I cleanse, tone, moisturize and then use one pump of Desert Mist. After it sinks in I apply sunscreen and then whatever makeup I decide to wear. My face is combination/oily and it just seems like my skin is happier since I started using this.

UPDATE 12/18/2012 - I removed a lippie because while I do like this product very much I don't know that it really does anything magical.

UPDATE 01/12/2013 - I added the lippie back in. After not using this product for close to a month, I noticed a difference and went back to it. My skin has become quite dry this winter and I find that using the Desert Mist makes a big difference. My skin stays hydrated and is much happier once again.

This was the smelliest product in the basic five kit. But! It really does seal in moisture. I like to pump it once in my palm, and then take my middle or ring finger and swipe it across my skin. Don't rub it in- if you do, it takes longer to dry and it might get tacky so it feels sticky. If you put it on with a swiping motion to spread it across your face, you won't have any issues with stickiness. I feel like this really does work- in the beginning the magic white ice wasn't moisturizing enough for me and the desert mist provided that extra hydration. Now, I feel like this the last step helps seals the moisture in my skin. I know it works because I don't get any more dry patches around my nose and between my eyebrows like I used to.

I don't know how to exactly describe this product. It is a liquid, not an oil but definitely has a slip to it. It is applied over your moisturizer to lock in moisture and provide a protective layer to skin. I use this in the morning over my Magic White Ice. It smells so gross, like soy sauce, but it makes my skin feel so good. If I am feeling dry I just put this on top and voila! my skin feels like it's had a drink of water.

This stuff is definitely odd, but I like it. It's a serum that is meant to be applied very sparingly to your face after your regular moisturizer. It acts as a barrier, keeping your face nice and supple against the elements. Sounds like B.S., but it's totally been working for me. My skin is combo with dry and oily patches. I have found that this has helped regulate and balance my skin. It does smell weird, but I don't mind it. I would describe the scent as soy saucey...I supposed it's from the sodium based moisturizer in it. But, the scent fades quickly. I would buy this again. It's not a necessary step in anyone's skin care, but for me it feels like a nice extra bit of pampering that's keeping my skin looking nice. I have not experienced any breakouts from this at all.

This product is like a facial oil, but absorbs quickly without the greasy after-feel. I have combo. acne-prone skin and find this moisturizer good for use on the drier areas of my face that do not have blemishes.

Not sure what this product is supposed to be. It's way too watery..even more than a serum. It doesn't feel moisturizing at all, so I don't really care if it's supposedly protecting my skin if just feels dry after application. Plus, the pump dispenser isn't the greatest, so you end up wasting so much of the product when it splatters out all over your hand. Just didn't like it at all!

I first tried Arcona's Desert Mist in the summer and thought it was too heavy for my combo, acne-prone skin. Then I tried it again in the fall and loved how it immediately and thouroughly moisturized my skin, without causing breakouts. I also love that it has no chemicals. I use it under Arcona's Reozone SPF 20 -- my skin has never looked better. A definite repurchase for those harsh NYC winters.

I have grown to love Desert Mist - particularly on days when my skin is dry. As others have noted, it can be sticky (but only if you use too much); it is a wee-bit smelly (most of the products do have a strong scent), but in moderation this is the best. If you pat it on a bit after the White Ice and give it a few minutes to set (usually I do this when drying my hair) it works perfectly.

I got a travel size version of Desert Mist in a Basic Five travel kit for oily skin. The product is intended for use during the day after the Magic White Ice hydrator. The stuff smells awful. It's a cross between soy sauce and meat tenderizer. Ugh. First thing in the morning it can be a little nauseating. I might be able to get past it if I noticed any benefit from the product. I just didn't. I like other ARCONA products but Desert Mist is a dud.

I got this in the Basic Five kit for normal skin. I used it religiously every morning after the Magic White Ice and before my sunscreen. After 4 weeks, I didn't see the point of using this product — as I understand, it's mainly to protect your skin from pollutants during the day — so I stopped using it (also stopped using the Gentle Solution because it wasn't as powerful as my MD Skincare daily face peel and clindamycin Rx, I was getting pimples from clogged pores). After a week of not using the Desert Mist, my face looked duller and didn't feel as smooth. I started using this product again, and another week later, all is as it should be!

I will repurchase, and I recommend this with some warnings. 1. It smells like soy sauce. 2. There's a fine line between putting too little and too much on. 3. If you're using the travel size, put your finger over the nozzle when you shake the bottle, or the liquid will get on the inside of the cap and things can get sticky.

I'm on the fence with this, I think the application of it is a pain. It's very hard when one is rushing in the morning to get this exactly right. Too much and your face is sticky, too little and it feels like it's not doing anything. I think I prefer a regular face primer before foundation than this.

This product might work, I don't know, I only used it twice, and I really can't get past the smell. It smells so bad, I gag when I squirt it out on my finger. I tried mixing it with my sunblock, but it just smells too gross.

My skin loves this stuff! I must say that I didn't get the complete benefit of any one Arcona product until I started to use the system, for moisturizing and night care anyway. I do use other cleansers and scrubs, but the treatments really seem to work together like magic. This element, Desert Mist, is supposed to be used on top of the Magic White Ice to further hydrate the skin, and the combination is absolutely perfect for my rather dehydrated (I'm 50 and live in LA with it's very drying air and water) though combination skin.

Since the product is very concentrated, I do one pump into my palm, and one pump of a nice neutral toner for more moisture, and I apply it to my face and neck. It provides a lovely makeup base, and if I'm not wearing foundation that day, I just lightly powder with something very sheer to take the glow off.

This, along with the Magic White Ice and the Hydrating Serum, plus the Gentle Solution every third night and scrub the next morning, balanced my misbehaving skin in a week!

The Desert Mist is tricky. It's very liquidy and if you use too much it will make your skin oily, especially if it's you're a combo type. But properly applied, it's soothing, moisturizing, and gives an overall beautiful glow. It doesn't break me out and I'm so prone to breakouts! It had excellent antioxidants and water-binding agents. I personally love the product, but I only apply a little on my skin.
EDIT: After about 8 months of using this product, I cannot live without it. It has changed my skin, made it glowy, soft and supple and is just amazing overall. I still have no breakout from it and the antioxidants in it are great for any skin. It's definitely recommanded. I'll keep buying it. For those ladies who don't use it often enough you won't see any difference in your skin. This is not an instant miracle worker. You need to give it sometime to see change. Seriously, it really works.

This product works nicely to top of the Magic White Ice. It's concentrated and only a little is needed. I use in all normal dry areas of my face and blend it in my skin well. It takes a few minutes to fully dry then my skin glows. I like the way it protects with the antioxidants. Very smooth and hydrated--more balenced skin since I started using this.

I am still not too sure if I like this product. It is supposed to protect my face from free radicals etc. But after I put it on, I think I look shiny and it takes a really matte foundation to cover it up. I also seem to be oilier later in the day. Perhaps I am using too much?

This product is supposed to protect your skin against pollution and other contaminants, but I'm not sure if it actually shields/protects my skin (as I've only been using this, along w/ other products in the Basic 5 Skincare Line, for a couple weeks). Yes, this product stinks! Yes, it's very oily if you use too much! I only use 1/2 a spray, rub it into my palms, then pat it on my face. Then I wait for it to dry, and apply sunscreen. Because you don't need to use much of this Desert Mist, it'll probably take me a long time to use the entire bottle. It also seems like the Desert Mist helps my makeup go on smoother and last longer (but it could all just be in my head...). :)

Got this in the kit too. What's it supposed to do? Might as well go outside, grab some weeds, boil it in water and spray on my face.

I got the starter kit with travel size products for around 90$. The other products are bearable, but this Desert Mist STINKS. It smells so horrible that I don't know how anyone can put it on his/her face! Smells something like wet beef jerky ... ick. I tired to use the other products, but they were too harsh for me.
