I'm completely hooked on this product.
During the warmer months, I like to reapply sunscreen at least once during the day (more often if I'm spending a lot of time outside). This left me having to completely redo my makeup. This product streamlines the whole sunscreen/makeup process. It moisturizes and protects my skin with a mineral based sunscreen. After a couple of minutes, it sinks in and leaves a natural finish that provides moderate but still natural looking coverage.

I'm loving this TM. The version I have is SPF 30, which is excellent. I find it provides a fair amount of coverage, and it leaves a nice soft finish.

I'm finding this TM excellent! I'm reviewing the new spf 30, can't comment on spf 20 as never used it.This has good coverage for a TM.Better than I expected. It's quite thick when it comes out the tube, but glides on effortlessly. I wouldn't describe it as "barely there" It's good coverage.I do use powder and concealer with this and also use a sunscreen underneath ,but it's better than some foundations I've used. Looks very natural on. Never cakey and does not settle into lines around eyes.Excellent sun protection, physical only sunscreen which is a godsend for me as I can't tolerate chemical sunscreen around eyes.No alcohol or fragrance.Feels light on, as if I'm not wearing anything. I ordered samples of light/medium and medium, and could use either on my nw 15-20 complexion.I was looking for a lighter make up for summer and this is everything I was looking for. This will be my summer make up for as long as it's available.I was going to try a BB cream and now we have CC creams. But really, they are just tinted moisturisers. So happy to have found this.

Very sheer coverage - even lighter than I expected from something with Barely There and Sheer in the name. I prefer light coverage, but this stuff couldn't even even out the mild redness on my cheeks. It's also not particularly matte - I set it with powder and still found myself a bit shiny.
If you like a dewy finish and barely there coverage, you'd probably like this. It's not a bad product at all but it doesn't suit my needs so I won't purchase a full-size after I use up my sample.

Their old formula was great; their new shades suck (for me, anyway).
There used to be a shade called "Sheer Neutral" that was perfect for my skin tone. Just as I was starting to run out of my very first tube of it, they went and changed the formula to increase the SPF. This is normally a good thing, I know--but the colors all changed in the process, and now there isn't one single shade that I can use. My slightly-light medium skin tone puts me somewhere in between their makes-me-look-corpsey tint and their hey-everybody-I'm-wearing-that-orange-self-tanning-stuff-from-the-70's tint.
I find my HG for SPF tinted moisturizer, and then they have to go and mess with it.
Back to Square Zero. Damn, damn, DAMN!
:-(

Just bought this again after many years not using it. Was intrigued with the increased sunscreen. I bought medium which was the right tone but this made my skin look shiny and dull at the same time. Also the color turned orangish on me. Coverage is super sheer and did not barely even out my skin tone.
However, even though sheer you must get the right color because the colors I tried run yellow and if you get the wrong color it may oxidize on you. It did on me and I HAD the right color. I tried this under a foundation as well but it adds too much additional color for that and messed with the look of my normal foundations.
I give up. Just not a good product for me. Wanted to love it since it is an all physical sunscreen and fragrance free but tube is small for 15 bucks of sheer orangey tint. Cannot even compete with my Lancome TM which gives me SPF 30 and evens my skin tone without turning orange.

I've used this product for years. I used to buy a regular foundation and "cut" it with my moisturizer, this solves the need for that. Light coverage, just enough to even out my skin tone. I think a little more product for the price would be nice, but if you look at the price for amount of other department store products its pretty equal.

Pro: perfect color for my skin tone. I have very pale, yellow based skin. This stuff evens my skintone out, without looking like 'pancake'.
The package is perfect, and very hygienic.
Con: it's VERY expensive.

I love this. My skin is quite clear, so it only requires a bit of evening out.
This feels almost luxurious in texture but absorbs very well and applies very easily, both when using a brush or just fingers.
Its finish is lightly glowy and I use a mattifying powder for my combination skin. Lastly on performance, it does not irritate my skin at all, which makes me very happy.
The colour selection probably isn't marvellous: I use the lightest, "Sheer Fair", and it suits me perfectly when I am NC25 in the summer, it's a touch too dark for the winter when I am NC20.
Nevertheless, it's one of the few products in the general foundation category that I would buy again due to its great attributes.

Ok I like this product. My skin is finicky and I have no problems with this. Coverage is sheer, but I like that. The Zinc oxide seems to calm my skin. I am fair with warm tones and that is who this is for. Good buy!

This has a very nice sheer buildable coverage. By this I mean it can be layered to light coverage but after all it *is* only a TM not a true foundation. It seems to be a bit shiny unless topped with powder. After that it wears well.
I like the sunscreen so I do not have to bother with using another product.
All in all a good product. Just don't count on it being truly matte without a good matte powder on top.

I have quite oily skin. I purchased the sample size of this foundation just to give it a try, since it says "matte" in the name. It's very sheer, and applies wonderfully. Unfortunately, after a few hours I felt absolutely disgusting and had to wash my face. It made my skin even more oily than usual. I much prefer Almay or Cover Girl options to this.

These shades are way too yellow for me - even the sheer fair. It is a little too sheer too. I prefer more of a light coverage. It is shiny, but not oily shiny, just reflective shiny - I prefer the more matte, silicone type of finish (like a primer I guess). The SPF is wonderful in this and it didn't cause irritation or breakouts for me. If you're looking for something a little less-yellow and with a little more coverage, check out Revlon's Nearly Naked foundation.

I love this product! BUT, let me say right up front, that this is a tinted moisturizer NOT a foundation so adjust your expectations accordingly. I do like her foundation but I do not like the look of a foundation and full makeup on a daily basis. I have a fairly active job and casual attire, massage therapist, so I feel full classic makeup doesn't fit me on a daily basis. But, still I like a little help in the skin department even though I don't want full coverage. This product does just what I'm looking for, slight evening of skintone and just makes things look a bit better than they do on their own. It's light and not thick and sticky like many tinted moisturizers. Some days I wear powder with it, some days I don't. I have dry skin so I do wear a moisturizer under this as well but still it doesn't feel tacky or sticky. I just really like the all natural look I get from this product.

Purchased this on a whim and during one of my "makeup" binges. I've been using this recently since my usual facial sunscreen has started to break me out. I actually like that there is very little pigment in this product. It definitely won't cover anything - but it evens out slight tone-changes and my skin doesn't feel sticky or clogged at the end of the day.

I am in the color sheer ivory. Honestly.. this product has very poor coverage, and most definitely is not matte. Also, I noticed after a couple times using it I was getting cystic pimples. I'm almost positive this had something to do with it because they occurred only when I started using this product.

I was really pleasantly suprised by this, I haven't had a great deal of success with Paula's Choice products so I expected this to be a fail too.
Once this has set the matte finish is probably the best lasting of any foundation I have ever tried....to the point of being slightly drying (something I'm none too familiar with since I have disgustingly oily skin!). Unfortunately the lasting matte finish also tends to accentuate fine lines around my eyes but I guess you really can't have everything. I can see this getting some serious use on those hot, humid summer days when makeup normally slides right off my face.
This offers very little coverage but layers fairly well, but even layered it won't cover imperfections so if you need coverage this probably won't suit you. If you want minimal coverage so that you don't look made up then this might be worth a shot.

I just got a sample of this, and all i have to say is that this is NOT for cool toned pale skin ladies.
i sampled this product in Sheer Fair and it is too yellow and does not match my skin at all!
Good thing i only got a sample because i would not be able to leave the house wearing this.
I was disappointed because her toner & serum is great and i had higher expectations for her products.

Perfect! I have oily skin and seborrheic dermatitis, and most foundations for oily skin (including PC Best Face Forward) accentuate any irregularities in skin texture. But not this! It can also be layered for a little more coverage. EDIT: I had to stop using this because it doesn't blend well over my beloved PC Shine Stopper. I've gone back to the Best Face Forward.

I got two samples of this so I could wear it for a week to see if I like it. I LOVE the fact that you can get samples of Paula's Choice products for a small charge to see if you like the product. I've been wearing it for a few days now and I have decided not to purchase the full size because this just doesn't provide enough coverage for me. It's called "Barely There" for a reason - it's so sheer that it's almost not there. The pros: It does have a lovely light texture and blends easily, and it does provide light, non-greasy moisture. The color match was perfect: I got Sheer Ivory and it matches my yellow-undertoned, NW25 skin perfectly. I love that it isn't too pink. It sets to a slightly dewy, glowy finish. No fragrance, no white cast from the sunscreen. The cons: not enough coverage to even out my red blotches and Rudolph nose. This is a really nice product for someone with slightly dry, almost-perfect skin. Unfortunately, that's not me. The search goes on....
