My review is for the UV Perfect for oily to combination skin available in Australia. Active ingredients for this version are:

Octyl salicylate 50 mg/g

I have combination skin with pores that tend to block in hot weather. This sinks in quickly, is somewhat matte finish and definitely doesn't make me oilier. I like the fact that it is a combination physical and chemical sunscreen, and it is the only one of the UV Perfect range which doesn't include ethylhexyl methocinnamate, which is a chemical sunscreen ingredient I am allergic to.
The tiny little 30ml tube is handy to have in my purse for touch ups, and although it is expensive, it is worth it to find something that is comfortable in summer, can be worn over an antioxidant serum, and underneath light makeup. I will repurchase, but probably on Ebay where I can get it considerably cheaper. By the way, I purchased this for less than $4 a tube at Coles, where it is a discontinued item. Usual price in Australia is around $17 for a 30ml tube.

I am so frustrated that we can only get SPF30+ in Australia, so I am basing my review on the SPF30+ version of this product. For some reason, products with as SPF over 30+ are not allowed in Australia because they are considered dangerous due to the nano particles or some such! Anyway, prior to using this, I was buying La Roche Posay Anthelios SPF60+ from Strawberrynet. I really did not think I would find a sunscreen product that would work as well under makeup, but I ran out of my La Roche Posay and didn't get my order in time, so I needed something else in a hurry as I use a vitamin A serum at night and sunscreen is a must!
Sunscreens in Australia are usually thick and fairly greasy. I tried the tester in the store and this one seemed fairly thin in comparison and not unlike the Asian and European sunscreens. The price was fairly good, so I thought I might as well give it a go until my order arrived from Strawberrynet.
The first thing I noticed is that it did absorb well into my skin. Not in the same way as La Roche because that is quite matte, but in a nicer way. My skin did feel moisturised and did not have a white cast or greasy look about it. The real test for me is how it looks under makeup and how makeup applies over it. It passed the test on both counts and it passed with flying colours! My makeup applied smoothly and did not get that greasy look you sometimes get when you apply over sunscreen. It stayed that way all day. I did not notice it on my skin at all. It was comfortable and caused no reactions.
It is much cheaper than the Clarins and La Roche Posay products and I am now a convert.

This is way too greasy for Asian skin. I bought about 3 at one time and continued using it because the packaging was really good - small and handy and it is spf 50. But I get spots from this because it is so greasy and my skin does not absorb it well. The oil keeps coming throughout the day. I gave them away to my friend with dry skin and it works really well for her.

As a sunscreen junkie, this is my HG of sunscreens! I have oily/combo skin and want a sunscreen that goes on light so i can apply makeup over it, is non sticky, and doesnt make my oily zones worse as the day goes on. This definitely does all that! I used to use Clarins UV plus, but i went through it really fast and it was getting expensive to repurchase as much as I did. I wanted to try the new sunscreen formulations with Mexoryl - so i purchased La Roche Posey Anthelios XL where i live in the UK, and had my family in Hong Kong send me the L'Oreal UV perfect in both the tinted (slight beige) and anti-dullness (purple tint) versions. La Roche Posey Anthelios is directly comparable to Clarins in my opinion, so i was already happy with that. But the UV perfect was even better! Out of the two version, the anti dullness (purple one) is by far the best for my skin. It gives this incredible finish that is somewhat like a primer - without the telltale sheen that all sunscreens have. It feels smooth and moisturizing on my skin too. I still have to moisturize, but often with sunscreens layered on top of moisturizers, it can be too much for my oily prone skin. This product doesnt feel like i have as many layers on as I actually do and it last all day. Will definitely purchase more!

Have been using this product for 5 years and have finished tons of tubes but still can't get over the fact that It's a BOON for asian skin..
i use Transparent skin.
i have an extremly dry skin.. Agree, too much of it makes one look greasy but then why apply too much in the first place when just a little bit can go a long way. Have tried Clinique, clarins et al however i totally swear by this product. It makes my skin glow. Hard to imagine my day w/o it... two thumbs up for UV perfect. :)

I've bought this in my quest for the perfect, high level spf sunscreen in both the purple and transparent 'flavours'. It does a great job for a cheap (NZ$15) grocery store sunscreen with high spf.
PROS
Easy to find and relatively inexpensive
Does improve the skin (wrinkle reduction around eye area for 4-5 hours after applied directly to clean bare skin
High spf
No white cast
Does not sting eye area
Does not break the skin out
Do not need oil to remove
Not overly fragranced. I think one of the pp was referring to another L'oreal sunscreen (which I also owned and after getting a wiff of the scent, religated it to being a leg sunscreen, it was that bad and long lasting).
CONS
Not good on its own under make up. Leads to my foundation being chalky and overapplied.
Clings to any dry skin and does not really add much moisture.
I apply it on cool, clean, dry skin after my shower and let it absorb and bond to the skin for a good 20 minutes then apply moisturizer which gives my skin the base it needs for make-up.
A good buy and I will probably keep coming back to it but am still on the prowl for the perfect sunscreen/moisturizer.

I bought this product after watching that Niu Er has used this product on the Queen's show (for those of you who don't know what this is...it really doesn't matter...xD)
I am reviewing the clear version of this sunscreen. Overall I think that it's a pretty good sunscreen and it's not very expensive, so I would definitely repurchase this product. This product does not sting my eyes at all. I think the biggest con about this product is that you have to be careful not to apply too much of this product or you may look greasy/need to using a powder on top of the sunscreen.This actually really surprised me because I'm used to using milky liquid sunscreens that dry with a matte finish. This sunscreen reminds me of Anessa's facial sunscreen, which I love, because both products are creams (not milky liquid sunscreens) and they both leave a radiant dewy finish. However, I would probably choose Anessa's sunscreen over L'Oreal's because when I applied a lot of Anessa's sunscreen I would remain looking glowy whereas when I over applied L'Oreal I looked greasy.
I've used the anti-dullness version as well as the clear version and if I were to repurchase I would stick with the anti dullness version or try the tinted version.

Wish I could love it, but it gave me 3 cystic acne zits that are still lingering 2 weeks later :( If you have oily, acne prone skin, this might not be the SPF for you!

This is extremely greasy and does not fully absorb. It became greasier as time went on and dissolved the make up on top. It made look like a well, oiled mess. If you are already using department store stuff, this is a big step down. I recommend the following as alternatives, they are much higher in quality and absorb fully leaving you smooth and non-greasy: Clarins UV Plus, Shiseido SPF 38 or 55 cream, even neutrogena sunscreen for face is much better. This is an unfortunate waste of time.

I wasn't going to purchase this as i had almost given up on finding a good sunscreen for my face, but i'm so glad i did!
Most sunscreens either ...
1) Break me out
2) Sting my eyes/skin
3) Leave a noticeable white cast
4) Make me look extremely oil
5) Dont wear well under makeup
6) Highlight the dry areas on my face
7) Despite spfs of 30+ still don't stop my freckles from darkening
This one i'm happy to say hasn't done any of the above.
I accidently bought the 'anti-dullness' formula, which is strangely tinted a light purple. Once putting it on i noticed that my face was quite shiny but after a few minutes it had sunk in, and looked pretty undedectable. I then set it with Lancomes Matt powder and was good to go.
Throughout the day i looked 'dewy' and not oily in any way.
The packaging is very nice and you do not loose any product, which is a problem with most sunscreens.
After taking this off today i noticed that my skin has improved! I normally have what i would call micro-pimples covering my forehead. You can't really see them but i can feel them. I notice some products make it worse and others, like this actually improve it. They are a lot flatter and my t-zone is less oily :)
The price isn't too bad, even though there is not much product it is still good value. I do wish they sold these in bigger sizes though.
I have problems with pigmentation and notice that even when using sunscreen, wearing a hat/sunglasses and sitting in the shade most of the time my frekcles STILL get darker, even with high spfs.
UPDATE: have lowered the rating to a 3. This is no longer my HG sunscreen. Although i LOVE the spf and ppd factor, i simply do not like that this contains perfume, colours etc. I dont like putting it on my face, and my skin hasnt reacted well. Although,im not too sure if this is the cause. I have since switched to 'QV moisturising day cream with spf 30' and like itmore.
I will be repurchasing, and hopefully they'll launch the 'anti-redness' formula here in NZ as i've read great reviews on it.
FINALLY i've found a great, innexpensive sunscreen for me :)

I started using this sunscreen (I bought the transparent version in Asia) 2 months ago. I like it that the texture is light and easily absorbed into the skin. The tiny bottle is convenient for travelling, and it is easy to use. I find it especially good in drier climate such as winter or for dry skin types (of which I am one). When I first used it in humid weather (Singapore), it left a shiny film on my skin. The shine got a lot better after I cut away my usual moisturiser and just applied a hydrating essence before the sunscreen. So it might be a bit heavy for oilier skin types I suspect.
Now that I am in China (winter time), this suncreen is perfect for me as it adds a moisturising layer to my skin without feeling heavy or looking greasy (I still apply my moisturiser and sometimes, a hydrating essence) before the sunscreen, due to the drying indoor heating). I have gone through different sunscreens and many of them are either too oily/heavy (hard to apply) or drying (light texture but dries out my skin after a while. This is one which is a good balance between a light texture and adequate moisture. Also, it is very affordable for daily use (i bought mine for around SGD12) even after considering the tiny 30ml bottle it comes it.
They have a few other versions of this sunscreen (to boost radiance, to hide redness and to even out skintone). I might try out the radiance-boosting version next :)

I bought this on a whim because it was NZ$16 at the pharmacy and I'm going to be needing a high SPF in the coming months (spring here in NZ at the moment). I got the anti-dullness one (only other option was transparent). And I'm pretty impressed. Was previously using Neutrogena Healthy Defense SPF 45 stuff which was way too heavy for my skin. This stuff is pretty good, and has both chemical and physical sublocks in it. Hasn't made me break out more than usual, definite bonus. Doesn't take much to wash it off, and I haven't gotten burnt, and haven't reacted to it! The colour doesn't really make any difference to me but I've got pretty gross looking skin anyway, so might make more of a difference if you don't have bumpy discoloured skin :p
Definitely worth a try, and I'll be repurchasing. Though I do have some SPF 20 Neutrogena Healthy Skin coming in the mail so I might end up alternating. Oh, and I thought the scent was nice, and pretty faint. No qualms there. (And considering what other reviewers have said - yay for NZ, for once we get something before USA? Unheard of!)

i like sunscreens that contain sufficient uva protection like mexory sx/xl. however, this is just too greasy and sticky on my face and it leaves a white cast, too. i probably won't repurchase this.

SPF 50 was quite impressive for a drugstore UV blocker with dullness-altering benefits. I purchased the lilac tone. My oily acne-prone skin can be quite cranky to L'oreal's products. So far, white perfect radiance-boosting essence works well for me. I thought, this might too. First 2 days it works well, on third usage, i noticed small pimples surfacing. My's skin's method of telling me a product is just not suitable. If my skin has not reacted, this wld be my staple. It is a good product overall, just not suitable for moi.

As I couldn't ever find this at canadian drugstores, I had to get it through Ebay at about 20$CAD including shipping. My only choice was the Anti-Dullness one, so I got that one.
This sunscreen is really light compared to other sunscreens - which i LOVE. It's moisturizing, so I can put it on and forget about it unlike other sunscreens.
I can't really detect the 'gross sunscreen smell' even though it smells like something, and the smell's not offensive at all.
Even tho the anti-dullness one has the purple tag on the package, my product wasn't really purple/mauve at all (?) it was actually something like the pearly white...but i couldn't really detect shimmer on my face after application. or any brightening effect.
at UV protection+ 50 something, this product is amazing.
Oh, and one amazing thing -
I wore this sunscreen (one ligh applicationg) at a week-long hawaii trip, and DID NOT GET tanned at ALL. amazing.
Perfect for ppl who don't want to get tanned/sun burnt.

This is a great sunscreen! Spreads well, easily absorbed, not sticky or greasy and it doesn't sting if I get it in my eyes, unlike many other sunscreens. It feels more like a moisturizer than a sunscreen and so far it does it's job as a sunscreen extremely well. I have dry/combo skin and usually apply this over a moisturizer, but I think it would do just fine on it's own too.
My mother brought home a tube for me from Malaysia, I really wish I could get hold of this here in Sweden.

i'm using the transparent one as my daily sunscreen under my foundation and after day cream. i can't review on it's sunblocking powers yet but it has mexoryl xl, i trust that it is doing its work!
i can review on the texture however, and i must say it is a very pleasant to use, few drops is enough and is quick easy to apply , i spread it on my fingers , press it onto skin and smooth out quickly, i don't feel it at all after applying makeup. if used alone it leaves a light transparent sheen which some people may find oily, but it is not oil. is perfect to use under makeup and best thing is the price is very affordable and lasts a long time. i was considering to buy the clarins uv plus hp mineral sunscreen but that one is at least twice the price of this. i'm happy to have found this!

I use this in Transparent. As I have strong yellow undertones, I avoid using "brightening" or "anti dullness" formulas as it creates a very obvious contrast between the face and neck. This is a white cream which goes on the skin slightly greasy and leaves a shiny/dewy finish which does not disappear. I dust several coatings of powder on and my skin looks matte for several hours.
This retails for $14.95NZD, however I can only find this for about $17 at a mid-end department store (which lists a shelf price of $26....!). I am glad this is not an Asian market exclusive any more, however its distribution may still be limited to Asia Pacific regions.
I have combination skin, underlying dehydrated with an oily t-zone. I have some skin sensitivities which are aggravated by the liquid (alcohol heavy, silicone polymer film base) Japanese sunscreens. Although they may be good mattifiers, but they make my skin flake within a few days of continued use.
UV Perfect is by far the best SS I've used. It does not feel uncomfortable on the skin at all, whereas compared with Neutrogena Dry Touch, despite its matte finish, it feels taut against the skin and causes mild blotchiness. The first time I tried this was during a heat wave, it was 99-100+% humidity. This stuff does not last through those extreme climate conditions, as it runs slightly if you perspire. However, if you blot then the skin stays matte completely.
This rinses clean in water, and does not need double cleansing to remove. My skin does look a few shades whiter, however it does not make me look pasty (as once someone commented that I looked like I have calamine on my face after applying a generous layer of Sofina Rise...)
I wish they would make these sunscreens in generous tubes or bottles, as I'd like to use this for the neck and body as well.

I am on my second tube of the "Anti-dullness" formula of this excellent sunscreen. This comes out of the tube a pale cream colour with a gold sheen to it. It does not have any sparkles or glitter in it. On my face it is completely translucent with a subtle glow.
I have oily, resistant skin and as such have had no reaction, stinging, or itchiness from it. It has not clogged my pores and hasn't made my skin any oilier than any other moisturiser or sunscreen I have used.
The texture of this sunscreen is light and it spreads easily. It has a fairly strong but inoffensive scent. I would prefer it to be unscented but that is a minor quibble on my part.
I have been wearing this over the New Zealand winter and spring and it has protected my skin well. The true challenge, however, will be to see how well it does against the harsh summer sun we have here (damn the hole in the ozone layer!).

I bought this product in Singapore and wish I had bought two. I got the peachy one. PRO: Extremely light texture, doesn't feel like anything on the skin. No white cast on my medium-toned skin. CON: Leaves my face very shiny. I always powder on top, but my face gets shiny again much quicker with this product. It's so thin and fluid that I wonder if I am really getting all the spf (as opposed to Neutrogena's dry-touch spf50+ which goes on more creamy). Very small tube, hence expensive. ** UPDATE ** Down to 2*. The shine is simply too much. If I powder over it, it can look uneven and orange. Maybe the white/transparent version is better. Only for dry skins or winter use.
