the only thing i hate about this product is the price and the smell. it smells somewhat weird but it deep cleanse my face really well and my skin feels really fresh after that. plus it doesn't dries off my face and i woke up with glowing skin the day after ( well i use a hydrating mask later on).

This is a great product for mild acne. It works well as a mask, but it's so darn expensive that I very rarely use it like that. I have a couple of much cheaper masks that are equally effective (Lush cosmetic warrior!!), so I save this one for use as a spot treatment. I dab on a teeny bit on a pimple overnight and in the morning it is often much smaller. It works the best on very very new pimples - sometimes this treatment can prevent them developing at all, although I must admit that is rare! I find it a more effective spot treatment than most salicylic acid products.

This is expensive, but still a good investment, in my opinion. I use it as a mask, and as it dries, I can immediately see it drawing out the oil from my pores (gross, but at least I know it's working!) -- tiny dots appear all over my face where the mask is. I have dry, sensitive skin, but it isn't too drying at all; it leaves my face soft and brighter. It smells earthy, almost like cinnamon, but it's not a bad smell. It's a wonderful spot treatment, too! I would buy this again -- Fresh is pricey, but I have rarely been disappointed in one of their products.

How can anyone not LOVE this??? It makes your skin feel super clean, you can use it as a spot treatment, mask or face wash (although it's officially a mask), and it smells wonderful. The price is absurd, and for that reason alone, I will not be buying again, but will try Fuller's Earth as recommended here. Still, this is a nice treat once in awhile. (I don't know why Fresh has to overprice their products so much) Anyway, love it, but won't repurchase.

I saw this in the latest issue of Lucky magazine. I hear they rave about it a lot in Lucky and usually i don't care what the majority says because what works for the majority rarely works for me. Although I had a cystic zit on my chin and one between my eyebrows....yes my eyebrows HELLO...haha that had been there for almost a month ugh. i believe it was caused by an ingrown hair after I got my eyebrows threaded but ne ways neither of these wanted to go away. Soooo desperate as I was last week I made a trip to Sephora to get a sample of this mask/treatment. I wasn't going to pay $48 for this having never used it plus the price seemed crazy high to me and I'm always concerned about ingredients causing breakouts...especially since this contains natural oils which my skin never seems to do good with. Now I can't say this is a miracle product like Lucky may claim because it didn't make these cystic zits go down overnite but it helped reduce them in the slightest....i mean very slightly....probably only i noticed. But after 4-5 nites of leaving this on my spots overnite they are almost gone, as in the bumps are flat, I of course am left with a pinkish/reddish scar even tho I never touched them...gotta love cystic zits. So would I repurchase this mask/treatment? I'm not sure yet....I got a sample pot from the SA at Sephora and she filled it to the top so it will last me quite a while. I'm going to wait til my next cystic zit comes up...most likely on my chin as always and test this stuff on it when I feel it starting to form...if it can stop the zit in its tracks i may have to purchase this when I run out. But typically I use manuka honey on my spots....although I wanted to try something else because I feel my skin has gotten used to it. I should also mention that this mask doesn't seem to dry out my skin that badly, most likely because of the natural oils added to it. I would def reach for this over BP any day....that stuff dries me out horribly.

I had a Fresh consultant do my makeup. I had a wedding coming up and i was looking for a good foundation that would last all night. She noticed the pimple that was forming on my nose and told me about the this treatment. She said to dab it on my bad breakouts and leave it on overnight. What she said is that it would keep my breakouts from spreading and getting deep. Clears up the breakout. She gave me a small sample which I made last for a week.
Use: spot treatment in the evening for 1 full week. used on acne cyst, a few deep pimples on my chin.
Results: cysts did not get deep or spread wider. They we're not painful and got smaller. By the end of the week pimples gone.
What happened that was unexpected is my chin which looked darker than the rest of my face because of the acne scars of multiple deep pimples/cysts started to clear up. The deep areas started to get smaller, you could see the individual blotches. And now my skin is becoming clearer and my chin back to a normal skin tone.
Considering it cleared up my chin, I want to use it on my whole face. But, I think it would get dry if I used it that way daily. So, I'm going to use it all over my face maybe once every two weeks. And as a spot treatment daily if I have breakouts.
I'm impressed with this product. I was shocked with the price, but I purchased it because I thought it was worth it.
My acne has been a lot better after using Peter Thomas Roth (PTR) Acne Kit and now adding this to my skincare. I think I finally found a great balance for my skincare regiment. If you want to read about the PTR Acne Kit you can find that detail in my diary.

I initially liked this mask a lot. It was gentle, didn't cause any redness, and cleansed my pores well. However, it doesn't rinse off easily. There's always some brown dust on my cotton ball after I use toner to swipe off the remaining product. It icks me a little to have mud dust in my pores--it's like having to clean off left over makeup. Will be searching for another face mask.

Wanna save a bunch of money on this product? Go to mountainroseherbs.com and order their Fuller's earth clay. Youcan get a pound for $7.50. It is every bit the same product as Fresh's, only its not in a tube or bar form. It is loose powder and you can mix as much or as little as you need. Heck you can even do your back , or anywhere else you have an oil/acne problem. Also you do not have to use this as a mask only . It is a great face wash and exfoilator- just massage in with a little water and rinse off. Finish with toner to make sure it is all off. I too used to spend huge amounts of money on Fresh's product until I read these same reviews and a great fellow member recommended the Fuller's earth. She said it was the same exact thing. I tried it and boy was she right! For $7.50 its worth a try! You can always go back to Fresh if it does not work(but it will!).

I love this as a mask. I have combination skin (oily T-zone and dry cheeks) and ocassionally break out. I use this very sparingly only because it can be a little drying. I especially love using this product as a spot treatment. When I feel a zit coming on I dab a little of the clay treatment over night and by morning it's much improved if not gone. Will definitely re-purchase.

I've fallen in love with this Face Treatment. I asked for a sample at Sephora, so that I could try it out. I've read so many good reviews, but I wondered if I would really find it helpful.
I've been using the Umbrian Clay as a spot treatment, even leaving it on overnight as suggested in a lot of reviews. A little might flake off, but it doesn't leave any mess on my pillows, and in the morning I can see that most of it is still on my skin. It does not irritate even very unhappy skin, and actually feels soothing on inflamed areas. It seems to dry up spots quite well, without drying my skin in general. I don't need any extra moisturizer because of using this, just my normal routine is fine.
My biggest skin complaint is my hormonal breakouts, around my chin, which drive me crazy. This has been helping with them a lot, clearing up spots faster, and helping to prevent developing ones.
It smells like clay, a sort of "clean dirt" smell that's not disagreeable, and my DH has said several times that though, yeah, it gives me crusty green/gray spots on my face, it doesn't bother him. He's even commented that it's working well.
Using this just as a spot-treatment, a whole bottle will last a really long time. When I do get the full bottle (which will be happening very soon, indeed) I'll experiment with using it as a mask, and update my review as appropriate.

I've had a whole bottle of this for quite a while, and I still really like this product. I mainly continue to use it as an overnight spot treatment. It's nice as an all-over mask, but I actually think I get more benefits from it when leaving it long for a longer period of time. So using it as a mask for just 10 or 15 minutes almost feels like I'm 'wasting' it. One benefit of using a mask like this as a spot treatment is that if you're prone to picking at your skin, or even just touching or poking your spots, this will deter you. When I'm really tempted to pick, I can put on some of this, and not only is it actively helping my skin, it's also providing a physical, but more importantly, a psychological barrier to stop me from picking at anything.

I just tried using a sample size of this mask. The clay mask is fine. But did anyone else dislike the scent? Maybe the lack of scent made it smell worse than I expected, but honestly, I could not get over the smell. It smells like someone farted, and the smell is all over my face and neck.

I have super oily, acne-cyst prone skin with large pores in the t-zone. This mask is one of the nicest masks i have ever used. It is not thick but fine textured and says what it does which is suck your pores and leave you with fresh clean soft skin. This can be used on severely blemished skin or severely irritated skin and will not burn but will actually soothe it. I am sad I didnt buy a 2nd bottle in exchange with some other fresh products I bought which were overrated. Only catch is that I dont like the way this washes off - since its so fine - like silt you have to make sure you get it all off. But i dont like taking off any of my masks so. Definite repurchase again and again.

I almost wish that I didn't like the Fresh range of skincare products as much as I do, as it would save me lots of money. At the same time, the several products I have tried have been fantastic, and really helped my skin. The Umbrian Clay treatment came as a GWP with a Sephora order. My skin has been breaking out lately due to hormones and I decided to try the mask out to see if it could help calm it down. The mask is a little bit hard to spread, and also, it separated a bit in the tube, so a bit of clear liquid came out prior to the actual mask. I left the mask on for about 7 minutes. It washed off easily enough and my skin was left feeling really clean, soft, and not at all dry. My skin tone looked more even and it definitely helped clear my skin up within a day or two. My SO commented on how good it was looking (which nearly made me cry with joy considering how horrible I felt about my breakouts.) While the product is expensive ($48 for 3.4oz) I bought the full size. I would rather purchase something I know to work than spend time trying to find something else that is cheaper. I often wind up spending the same amount on the trial and error as the expensive product!

As of March 13, 2009 beauty.com is giving away a packet of Fresh sugar scrub with a $45 Fresh purchase, so it softens the blow. Couple that with the ebates refund (if you go through ebates, one can get 6% cash back) and the drugstore.com reward points, and it isn't the worst deal out there.

On the package it says I can use it as cleanser and spot treatment as well as the mask! Multi-use for one expensive tube? I'm all for that.
Besides, it treats my acne-prone areas, especially around my chin. I put little dabs of this and little bumps are so much better by next morning. I haven't really try for all over face mask yet. I'll try that when I get a full size bottle. Would buy again!

This is a very nice mask for normal/oily skin. Leaves my face feeling very soft & clean, but not stripped. It is $48 for 3.4 oz, but it only takes a thin layer, so it will last a long time.

LOVE THIS MASK! I use it when I have breakouts and it works really well as a spot treatment (put it on in the evening and then in the morning the blemish is seriously diminished in size). Definitely use a mosturizer afterwards though so your skin doesn't get too dry. I also love the lisa hoffman spa facial clay mask, it’s great because it cleans out my pours but it doesn't dehydrate my skin (especially great in the winter when my skin is so dry). I try to use a clay mask at least once a week and it's really kept my skin looking (and feeling) great!

I tried a sample of this product from sephora. I was excited because I heard some great things in magazines about this product. When I applied the mask, in about 2-3 minutes my face felt extremely stiff. I let it sit for another 10 minutes and then began washing it off. I felt like I was scrubbing concrete off my face. I don't think I applied a thick layer, I'm pretty good at spreading the product around my face. I was a little concerned about all the scrubbing I had to do because I'm afraid it may cause wrinkles or such...especially since I was scrubbing so hard under neath the skin under my eye (not the delicate skin, but where your cheek begins)....anyway...the product did clear my pores well...but my face felt sooo tight after wards even after I applied my moisturizer. I like that the product is organic and that it did a good job of deep cleaning...but I have tried other masks from Ren and Mychelle that do just the same job and don't leave me skin feeling tight. I would also recommend trying Korres cinnamon and clay mask!

amaaazing product.
i first used it as a mask and then read about some people using it as an overnight spot treatment so i decided to try that the same night.
i get pimples on my tzone monthly and they are the worst kind.. often they would be smack in the centre on my nose or in between my eyebrows...THE worst places to break out and hardest ones to camouflage!!
however, when used as a spot treatment, the one on my nose shrank overnight and was less red, a lot easier to conceal!
a bit pricey but will probably last me a while since i''ll be using it as a spot treatment instead and perhaps an occasion mask. i feel like using it as a cleanser may overdry my skin. thank goodness for my sephora employee discount...

This is hands down the best product I have ever used... as an overnight spot treatment, but not as a mask and certainly not as a cleanser! I am so glad I read the reviews here. I was under a ton of stress and my skin looked awful, really bad breakouts, the worst in years, and I bought a bunch of new products to try and save/fix my poor face. This product did miracles for me and definitely helped to restore my skin back to normal. When I feel I'm getting one of those awful big once-a-month cystic pimples, I dab a bit of this on in the evening, let it stay put overnight, wash it off in the morning and wow - the previously large pimple has shrunk to the point where the area is totally flat, and all I'm left with is a bit of redness that is easy to conceal. Expensive but worth it for me. I like the much cheaper Queen Helene Mint Julep Masque as well, but I find that's it is way too harsh to leave on my skin overnight as a spot treatment. As an overall mask, this product is also pretty good - leaves my skin nice and soft, smells gross if you leave it on for too long, though. Don't waste your money by using this as a cleanser... all those good ingredients will go down the drain without the necessary time to do some good work on your face.
