I used a Blue Green Algae product sample last week and am still having a major allergic reaction (I've never experienced anything like this before - red rash on my face/neck/hands that itches, hurts, and dries - similar to hives) several days after discontinuing use.
Customer service told me that the spf was taken out as a cost saving measure, not because of any complaints, and basically told me that my aging skin was to blame not any of the other ingredients. *NOT GOOD ENOUGH* I wish this wasn't the case, as I'm a huge fan of natural products, but I would caution others when choosing anything containing Blue Green Algae in particular!

***Important Note: This product does not appear to contain any spf in it anymore. The "spf 15" no longer appears beneath the word "moisturizer" on the bottle.*** Other than that, it is great! I have used the moisturizer almost exclusively for about 2 years. At night, I use Aubrey Organics Vegecol. I have normal skin as far as oil production, but it is also sensitive. Most moisturizers are too heavy and make me greasy. Many also irritate my sensitive skin. This product is just right. Unfortunately, one of my favorite things about it used to be that it contained built in sunscreen so that I didn't have to use additional products. I'd put this on--it would be a little white on me at first, but would quickly sink in--then I could dust on a little mineral foundation, etc. and go. It almost seemed to act like a primer as well. At least, while using it, I haven't felt like a primer was necessary or even helpful. So, yes, I am a big fan. But the founder of Aubrey Organics did pass away recently (mid 2011 or early 2012?) and I was worried some of the formulas might change. I wonder if that is what happened here. I wrote to the company tonight as I just found out about the lack of spf in the product, so who knows what they will say. I do see they have a line of sunscreen. I might try dropping this and trying that instead--hoping it will be moisturizing but non-greasy. Still, I really liked this product and I don't want to give it up. I'm just not the type of person who wants to layer on 10 million products all over my face, so I much, much prefer a moisturizer with spf built in. Such a shame. I really didn't want to have to look for a new moisturizer right now. If it still had the spf, it would be a solid 5 stars in my book. When you compare it to high end moisturizers, it is pretty cheap. A bottle lasts a fairly long time and it dispenses quite easily (unlike the Vegecol where half the product gets trapped in the poorly designed bottle--but that's another story). So if you don't mind the lack of spf, I say try it. My super sensitive skin does seem to like it. Just wish under 'would you buy this product again?' I could have selected 'maybe' as that is a more appropriate answer for me at the moment, pending a response from Aubrey into my inquiry.

This is a great light moisturizer for the acne prone or simply anyone who is phobic about breakouts and shine. The texture and ingredients make it very worthy of its' place on my shelf. Very softening, absorbs well.
However, if you are someone who is very touchy about fragrance, don't even think about this product, run away! It smells strongly of powdery grandma perfume. I tend to not mind these things, but it's flat-out noxious to me sometimes.
EDIT: This is specifically the Blue Green Algae Moisturizer for combination/oily skin.

new thoughts. i still enjoy it but i dont love it. the scent smells good in the bottle but when applied to the skin it kinds smells like urine lol and it lingers. Now for the formula, its too heavy for me to wear w/ makeup all my makeup seems to melt off and disappear and it makes my skin too oily sometimes but other times my skin feels more on the matte side when i wear this, so idk. ill prob just finish up by using it as a body lotion, cus it feels like silk on your body but on the face it either feels kinda heavy and dry or heavy and oily. But i do like the fact that it has SPF 15 or 20 in it and its gentle and non irritating to the skin.

Great moisturizer. Nice matte finish, balances skin, and has natural SPF 15 properties. I purchased this as part of the travel kit to try the entire line - I like it alot. The color is brown, and it has a coconut acid fatty base.
UPDATE 2/22/2011 -
After I went through the trial of this lotion, for some reason, I decided to go to another brand. I tried Kinerase (which is good, but very expensive and not all natural). A few months ago when I was traveling in Italy, I used this travel pack that I had thrown in my bag. The entire week mys kin glowed. Now I am swapping out what remains of my Kinerase and going right back to AO Blue Green Algae. It leaves my skin blemish free, hydrates with a nice matte non-greasy finish, and helps to make my skin glow and look very fresh. I didn't realize how strong it performed until I walked away from it. Now I use this during the day time for moisture, and my Kinerase Clean Skin Moisture LIght at night (only because I like the kinetin in the product). I also alternate occastionally by adding a few drops of sqalene or argan oil in the evening as needed. What a wonderful product. A+ Aubrey, as usual! BTW - 1 regular sized bottle will last a VERY long time because this moisturizer spreads extremely well.

Having been so pleased with the Aubrey Organics Rosa Mosqueta Cream, I decided to give this a try as my skin has been getting oilier with the warmer weather. I actually bought a trial kit of the Blue-Green Algae range and used all the products as a regime, which is unusual for me. In addition I never usually use cleansing lotions / creams as I generally prefer a mild foaming face wash. Well, after about 2 weeks of this regime my skin was looking great in comparison to usual - neither oily nor dry (I suffer with both), glowing but not shiny and even managed to rid me of some stubborn blocked pores that had been sitting onmy cheeks for an eternity. I tried the kit for oily skin as well and, although I have no complaints, it didn't come close to the Algae range. The moisturizer itself works great as a base for my make up, causes zero irritation and even feels good on my eye area. I did get a bit of separation after leaving the bottle in a warm place for the day but after a good shake it was fine and it hasn't happened again since. I definitely recommend trying the Aubrey trial kits for whatever skin type you have -they're really good value and you get enough of each product that you can really try them out properly. A final note about smell ;-) I think this smells just fine, however for those who don't like the smell it does disappear pretty fast. Also, unlike some natural brands it doesn't have a strong 'essential oil' smell that would irritate eyes / skin.

I'm on the fence about this moisturizer...on one hand it works great, a little goes a long way and it moisturizes my combination skin well without making me an oily mess which is fantastic. The only problem is that smell! It's really strong and likely to cause headaches in those sensitive to certain scents and unlike another reviewer I didn't notice the smell going away all that quickly- I DID get used to it until my boyfriend confronted me about the stink.
It's a great moisturizer but I would much prefer an ok moisturizer with less of a scent, even if the scent doesn't bother you- it's likely to bother those around you. I'm returning this.

Like the package, price was about $15 I think so relatively cheap I guess.
Makes my skin very soft without any greasiness. I bought this when I was suddenly breaking out at age 25 for no apparent reason so I switched all my products. My only qualm was that it didn't moisturize enough. Of course, to be fair I should note that I am using 2 salicylic acid products (face wash and foundation) and using benzoyl peroxide at night.
The smell: at first I didn't like it, but it has really grown on me and is now probably my favorite thing about it! It isn't so strong and it's just all the natural ingredients without any chemicals to mask them. If you look at the ingredients then smell it again you can pick out some of them in the scent (chamomile/aloe/lavender).
I might repurchase this if, once my skin is fully healed, I don't feel the need for more serious moisture to prevent wrinkles.

This moisturizer does have a strong smell and I feel like it leaves a sort of residue after being applied. It didn't break me out but it didn't contribute to clearing up any of my blemishes either. It is a bit oily and separated so you have to shake it before applying it. Overall, I don't think I will repurchase.

This cream went on well, and was very rich. Just a small amount covered my face nicely. Consistency is thin, but rich-no gooey at all. Sadly, I cannot attest to how this works over the long-term, since it is heavily perfumed. It caused no irritation, but I noticed the smell all day, and it clashed with my perfume.

Was very disappointed with this product as I ad read very positive reviews and saw good ratings on MUA, I am going down the natural skincare road and thought this would be a great day moisturiser, however after a few uses, it caused a rash all over my face, I suspect it may be the Paba content, not sure but I wont be purchasing Aubrey Organics againdue to this, too scared to rick it as this rash is itching and very uncomfortable not to mention unpleasant to look at!

This is actually better than the cleanser. It's extremely rich so USE SPARINGLY!!! I learned this the hard way. As a person with very oily-acne prone skin, I tend to avoid any moisturizer like the plague, but this one was a very pleasant surprise. A little goes a very long way.

I received a sample with a purchase I made online. I decided to test this even if my skin is rather dry. I like it. it is very fluidy and still seems moisturizing. The smell lingers all the day but it never irritates my skin. This is not he face perfumey smell that most non organic companies use and in fact after using natural organic products for a while, I am really not liking the fake "pleasant to most" smelling cosmetics anymore at all. I will purchase full size.

Good product. Not too oily and not too light. They don't torture animals or add skanky perfumes and if the smell doesn't suit you, you're an idiot. It smells fine and it goes away after 2 minutes.

The entire Blue Green Algae line is fantastic, my skin is glowing. I love this lotion, it's very light and thin, but it's very moisturizing. It has antioxidants, essential fatty acids, organic aloe vera and a bunch of other great stuff. I love it.

Good moisturizer for combination oily skin. I use this with the blue green algae toner, and I only use a small amount of moisturizer. This has been one of the best nourishing moisturizers I have ever used, rich in fatty acids and protein.

I have been using this for 3 years on and off as my daily moisturizer on my combination skin. Provides just the right amount of moisture, never leaving me oily, even here in the sticky south. Occasionally, I am tempted to try something new but always go back, and I love the smell.

The best moisturizer I've ever used! I have oily, acne prone skin, and this not only cleared up my acne, but totally healed my scars better than any product i've ever used! It smells very refreshing to me! I use it once a day and I cleanse with Aubrey's Sea Buckthorn Cleanser....and i'm acne free, plus my skin just glows! I've used tons of chemical skincare in the past, and it all just made my skin worse...Aubrey products really do heal your skin!

This stuff smells terrible. Very much like plastic. Also, it's funny that it's supposed to be for acne but they put algae and coconut oil in it, which are very comedogenic. See zerozits.com for more info.

This is a great light moisturizer I always come back to. It actually helps keep my skin clear and isn't irritating. It's also very anti-inflammatory and helps fade red marks left over from previous breakouts.
