I LOVE THIS. Really beautiful pink from MAC (somewhat a watermelon-pink). Bright without looking overly bold. Lustering is definitely one of my favs out of all the MAC lippies I own. Love sporting this when I want a pop of pink but dont wanna go full on hot/ fuchsia pink. Speak louder from MAC is also similar but of a cremesheen finish and just a tad brighter (lustering is well, a lustre lol). Lustering sits nicely on the lips without drying my lips out. However, I wouldnt say it is moisturising to any extent (it just doesnt dry your lips out too crazily). Overall definitely a nice one from MAC and I do recommend watermelon-pink lovers like me to pick this up!

in tube this looks super bright but on the lips its sheer upon first swipe. i usually build it up to pack more of a punch on the lips. the colour is a light-medium bright pink. the lustre formula makes super creamy and moisturizing. i sometimes layer this over more matte shades i own to moisten them up and give some colour complexity. the only downside is that you must re-apply after eating/drinking in order to maintain that pretty, moist pout. i dont find that it leaves a pigmented stain on my lips after it wears off.

Love love love this lipstick. It's my everyday lipstick. It looks natural and it's kind of moisturizing. It matches my NC35 tone. The smell is like vanilla, makes me want to eat it. The staying power is not that long need to reapply after eating.

My favorite MAC lipstick by far... Lustering is the perfect no fail easy lipstick to grab and slap on. It's not drying or moisturizing really, and it never bleeds or settles in my lip lines. A lovely bright pink that isn't too warm or neon, I loves it :)

I actually bought this lipstick going to the MAC counter intending to buy MAC's Vegas Volt. I had heard great things about it for fair skin, but when I tried it on it just wasn't for me. But my eye had immediately gone to the tube of Lustering in the display. It's just a beautiful bright pink with the teensiest bit of mauve, I guess? I always go for either a red or berry lipstick- I never buy pink. But for my fair, cool skintone, this is very flattering. It's a shade that offers a great, bright pop of color, but it's also very wearable. Love it!

I was a little hesitant about trying MAC lipsticks again after my first try with them, a shade in their sheen supreme line, was a disaster. But the love they get here on MakeupAlley, plus the recommendation of a good friend of mine, convinced me to give them another go, so I decided try out some of their other lines. And boy, am I glad I did! I only just bought it today, but I had to rush home and leave a glowing review.
The color is a super pretty watermelon pink that really flatters my fair skin tone, but that I think could look great on any skin color. I can apply it lightly for a "my lips, but better" look or build the color for a stronger look. This color isn't as bold as some of MAC's other pinks, so if you're looking for a pink from them that isn't as intense as some of their other colors, but still vibrant, this is a great shade.
The formula itself has a nice bit of shine to it, and doesn't shrivel up my lips the way most lipsticks do. It goes on fairly sheer at first, but like I wrote above, you can build it up easily. And the price is great, especially for the quality you get. I can see myself going through this one quickly, and then going back for more!

Absolutely love this color! I went to Mac knowing I wanted a lip color that is both darker and brighter than my natural lip without being overdone, but not knowing what kind of color. I am VERY fair and I think I have a tendency to look washed-out when I don't add a lot of color, and some days I just don't want to do heavier eyes. I tried on several shades, (didn't get the names of the rejects) ranging from reds to spice shades before realizing I wanted a pink. The consultant was very helpful and she brought out a pink that I thought was gorgeous, but it was very opaque and a little too bold for someone not used to such a bright lip (I have stayed with a neutral lip in the past...Hue is my old standby). She suggested Lustering as an alternative and as soon as she applied it, I knew it was perfect! It brightens up my whole face, makes my skin glow, and even though it's so far from my eyes, the contrast makes them the color of sapphires. A lipstick that enhances my lips AND my eyes? How can I say no!
As usual, love the quality and the staying power is great. I can apply it sheerly or build it for a darker, more intense color. No complaints. I'd describe it as a watermelon pink, and on me it's definitely a cooler color. Absolutely love it and I know it will become a staple.

If you have medium or Olive skin this is a must try!!!!!!!!
I love this lipstick. I mean it's amazing it is such a pretty pink color and next to my skin it literally brightens me up, it is so beautiful!!
When I went to the Mac counter I was wearing blush Melba and a muted gold eyeshadow from Lancôme. The lustering looks great with Melba! I'm so excited about this lipstick.
I fun it bold yet classy

This is my absolute favorite MAC lipstick (aside from my red ones). It's a warm and sheer pink color. The formula is lustre so it looks very nice and glossy, but by no means is it shiny or sticky like a gloss. It's a great color for the summer and really brightens up my face. It's the best shade of pink if you're looking for something fun and bright without being in your face. I have no problem with the staying power and it's quite moisturizing!

WOW!! I had to decide between this lipstick and Impassioned and the SA explained to me (what I already knew) that Impassioned is an Amplified finish, so it would be MUCH bolder than Lustering. So, being that I'm a total chicken when it comes to bold lip colors, I chose this one. And MAN! Am I glad I did!! It brightens up my face SO much for the summer! I'm in love!

Lustering on me comes out as a muted medium/dark hot pink with a HINT of warmth. this is a great colour because i can wear it with slightly heavy eyes and it will still not look overpowering. it is quite bright and kind of sucks in the light, but it isn't at all neon or anything like that. this also reminds me a lot of MAC's See Sheer (also a Lustre, like this) in the way that the colour behaves because it's bright, vibrant and a little deep but still very very buildable. a neutral statement lip!
this particular shade also has really good staying power because it leaves a 'just-bitten' berry stain behind due to its actual colour. i also use lip balm under this which really helps with the buildability and staying power.

Just got Lustering in the mail today. It has been on my WL for a while now and every time I went to get it, it was sold out. I don't live anywhere near a MAC counter so when I travel somewhere it's one of my first stops. And after two weeks at a MAC counter it was still sold out..... I am stoked to have it finally. I absolutely love this Pink shade. It's not too bright or too sheer. The perfect color for every day wear..stunning on my NC45 skin. I know I will be reaching for this often! Loooove. Thanks MAC! :-)

Great bright and uplifting watermelon-pink shade. It's pretty and punchy for summer but not garish - the Lustre formula keeps is moist and translucent which makes it more modern and easy to wear. Standard MAC bullet packaging and mid-point pricing; one of the more universal & consistently pretty shades of the permanent lineup. I've seen it look pretty on lighter people such as myself (NW/C 20ish) and on darker skinned friends (NC35-40ish tanned/olive skin tones). A great shade to try if you're a bit timid with brights (it's bright without being neon) or if you work somewhere where a full-on bright might be inappropriate. Possible dupes: Chanel Rouge Allure Insolente (more blue, but similar translucency); MAC Girl About Town (more opaque, more fuchsia/hot pink).

This is one of the easiest to wear bright pink lipsticks you'll ever find. It is bright but not screaming pink on your face. It really lightens up your complexion and it's one of those shades that although being bright they can be worn on full daylight and you can wear it at the office without looking over the top. I will repurchase it for sure.

A great shade of vibrant pink without the in your face "I'm wearing bright pink lipstick" look. Somehow it doesn't appear to be too intense but it lasts fine for a lustre finish. Definitely a watermelon kind of pink and great for my NW20 skin.

This is the most amazing lipstick I have ever bought! I was looking for a lipstick with vivid pink colour but not that intense. Lustering gives an amazing glow and colour on my lips and is definitely by far the best lipstick from Mac I have ever tried.

I just bought this and OMG I've finally found my HG subtle pink lipstick! It was absolutely MADE for my NC20 skintone! It's an incredibly flattering, subtle sheer lipstick that makes me look youthful and fresh. It's hard to describe the color, I guess I'd describe it as a watermelon pink but it's not at all overpowering. It's a real my-lips-but-infinitely-better shade. It makes my lips look and feel incredibly smooth, well-moisturised and luscious! Some pale pinks make me look washed-out and my pet-hate is too-pale pink lipstick but this makes me look healthy and I'm sure it even makes me look like my skin is glowing. I'm in love!

This has become one of my favorite colors. I have pigmented lips and this colors shows up like a deep watermelon pink on me which I love; it really completes the look - just the right amount of color. I have tried so many pinks that don't show up or turn out to be a cool fushia color and looks horrible. This has to be my HG pink it's also one of my first MAC purchases...definitley getting another just in case it is discontinued!

I want to love this but I just don't. I normally like lustre formulas but this one wears very strange on my lips. First off, it seems like I can't get enough color to show up. I know it's a sheer formula, but I expected a bit more pigmentation. Second, it wears away on the inner part of my lips and leaves an ugly 'rim' of color around the outer part.
