i had high hopes for this as it's been raved by many users. however, this made my skin break out so it's now being used by DH. not a fan of the scent as well as the texture. back to mario badescu enzyme cleansing gel for me!

Very gentle and smooth cleanser! A little goes a long way, so I wouldn't recommend using more than a pea size for your whole face. It is a bit pricey but the bottle lasts pretty long!

Ive been looking for a nice cleanser for my inflamed, irritated, dull looking skin, not soft either anymore as of late. Got a sample of this from sephora and after one night of using it my face really felt much happier that same night. The irritation went down and it once again became soft again. Cant wait to buy the big bottle of this.

Purity made simple for those who dont know the philosophy line is a daily facial wash, that is meant to be used morning and night. Its has a consistency of a thick milky white liquid with a very faint smell of rose. This cleaner is used to remove dirt, oil, and makeup while using many natural ingredients including- sodium lauroamphoacetate (cleanses); meadowfoam-seed oil (moisturizes); rosewood, sandalwood, and sage oils (soften and soothe).
Purity Made Simple has been awarded 'Reader's Choice' by Allure Magazine every year since 2008. Consumers (NOT ME) like how it foams up quickly to whisk away makeup, unclog pores, and leave skin feeling velvety.
Everytime I see this in Allure, listen to my mom rant and rave about everything philosophy, or read these outstanding reviews- I wonder if they are talking about the same product as me? I wouldn't say its the worst cleaner I have used... but I wont be buying it anytime in the near future. First, I cant stand the smell. Its a very light rose scent, but I really dislike it and cant seem to get it out of my nose after its all rinsed off. I used it for a week- in the morning before i applied my lotions and makeup, and in the shower before bed. I found that it made my skin oily. This was very surprising because the cleaner itself is so gentle, it reminds me of washing your face old school with a good bar of soap. Those with dry skin may really like this, as it does TOO GOOD of a job moisturizing (at least in my opinion). Another thing I dislike is the price. You can spend up to $40 on a bottle of this. Just because its got natural ingredients thus the 'purity made simple' and has the brand name philosophy on it, doesnt make it worth the price. I will spend $2 on a bar of soap and get the same results (and I wont have to worry about a headache from the floral mess in their formula). My mom really enjoys this product, she has combination skin and is a bit sensitive to cleaners that have harsh properties in the formula. She swears by it, and will lay down the money no questions asked. The only positive feedback I can give for this wash, is the ease of washing off my makeup at night with it. It would get everything off- from my heavy foundation to the waterproof mascara. I think it was because of the oils in the formula- the same ones that make my face shiny and gross. I also have to add, I dont mind when a product has oils in it, and makes my face SEEM like its oily- just because of how well it seals in moisture... I do have a problem with face looking shiny, feeling shiny... getting little break outs where I never in my life have broken out before! Not cool. If you do decide you want to try this wash that EVERYONE seems to love (according to Allure), go to your local sephora (not your department stores, because they wont be as generous) and ask for a sample, tell them you want to try it out before you decide to spend the money. They have mini travel sized samples they will give out to sample beforehand! Sephora is very generous with their samples, so I would go there first (if you are able) before going to Ulta or a department store! You may end up loving it, or you may be like me and find that it makes you oily and doesnt clean anything except the makeup on your face!

I am going to keep checking back on here because i am curious to see how people respond to this cleaner in the summer, when our skin is generally more oily than it normally would be- due to climate change, humidity, sweat- creams like sunscreen and bug spray- all of these being factors linked to summertime- and the last thing we want is a product adding even more oil when we have all these other factors to worry about! I give this product two stars/lippies because it did a wonderful job as a makeup remover (even with my 20 coats of waterproof mascara). Although, its the most expensive makeup remover I have ever used... I will stick to pampers baby wipes, my HG for CHEAP yet the BEST makeup removers of all time!

Love this cleanser. It takes off all my makeup and I feel it really does clean my face better than any other cleanser I've used. The smell is nice and not too overwhelming. It leaves my face extremely soft and has prevented me from breaking out.

Bought a 3pc set off QVC for $65.00 which included a 32oz bottle of Purity, 32oz bottle of Microdelivery & 8oz jar of Hope

The price was great! The purity cleanser does do a good job in taking every speck of makeup off, I have to say that, but I do not like the tight filmy feeling my face is left with. So I wash again with my very moisturizing Mary Kay Timewise 3-in-1 cleanser. I will definitely keep using it & buying it but will always wash my face again with Timewise

I love using this cleanser to remove all makeup. It is gentle on my skin while also being effective at cleansing bacteria and dirt from pores. I have not found that my skin is dry or cracked after using this. Consistency feels very silky on face and the smell is very refreshing.

Very good basic cleanser. I finally discovered that no matter which cleanser I use I should always try to remove most of my makeup before hand. I have been using coconut oil as a makeup remover and it works great. I only purchased a small bottle of this but I loved every drop. I enjoy the smell, reminds me of how a spa smells. Cleans well and doesn't leave my skin feeling dry or tight. The only downside is how expensive it is, I think $20 for a "normal" size of this cleanser is a bit ridiculous. If I had a gift card I might use it to splurge on this cleanser since I do like it, but I have found other cleansers that work just as well, and even better, than this cleanser. I have been loving Lush's Fresh Farmacy lately, you get a big chunk for $10. Purity made simple is a good cleanser with a bad price tag.

I wanted to like this cleanser so bad because i'm such a Philosophy fan however this cleanser did nothing for me. It failed to take off all my makeup even though I don't consider myself a heavy makeup wearer. It did not give my face that "clean" feeling that other cleansers do, it felt like I was washing my face with something that was going to leave it feeling oily and worse off than before. I ended up giving this cleanser away unfortunatly.

My mom introduced me to the philosophy brand and I do like some of their products. As for this cleanser, I wish I could give it a 4.5 because it's almost perfect. Super gentle, your face won't feel dry or super oily after using it, just really smooth :) Gets rid of makeup fairly well. But the only thing is that it is kind of on the pricey side. Other than that, it works well!

I wasn't sure how this would work with my acne-prone skin or my heavy mascara but it does. It removes all of my makeup really well and I don't feel the need to use a second cleanser afterwards. Whilst I wouldn't say it's necessarily improved my acne, it certainly hasn't made it any worse. It doesn't ever leave my skin feeling tight either, it's so gentle but effective. I personally think it has a lovely scent, it reminds me of spas! The only reason I'm not giving it a 5 is because a) it is pretty pricey and b) it can sting my eyes if I get it in them by mistake when I'm removing my eye makeup but it's nothing awful. I would repurchase this as it's perfect for lazy girls like me who want to remove their makeup, cleanse and tone all in one step!

I was skeptical to try a cleanser with oils listed in the ingredients, but after hearing how sensitive the product was I figured why not try? Within a week or so, I noticed my skin was moisturized, my skin around my eyes were noticeably less dry and over all I had a good experience. I have now had this product a couple months and when I go to re-purchase I'll deffinitely buy the huge bottle! Only thing I dislike is the bottle, there's no pump. But whatever. It's a great cleanser that's easy on the skin, I'm going to combine it with my clarisonic routine.

For some reason, this cleanser was very drying on my combination skin--my face feels really tight immediately after using it. That's the only thing keeping me from buying it again; otherwise, I actually like the smell (it's kind of sweet and mildly lemony scented, at least this is what my brain is telling me) and the lather is really nice and frothy. You don't need much, so a little bit goes a long way. While it may not suit my skin, I wouldn't dissuade others from trying it...

I like that this cleanser doesn't dry my skin out like some others I've tried. This leaves my skin feeling soft after i have used it. I will repurchase if i don't find something else (i like to try out a lot of different skincare products)

I love this cleanser. Since my first purchase many years ago I have tried other cleansers from premium brands but nothing else gives a thorough clean and lovely soft finish to my skin. Recommend to all skin types.

I purchased this a few years back after hearing amazing reviews. I also had a friend who swore by this. I ended up buying a big bottle at Sephora, thinking Go big or go home. Boy was I wrong!
My face instantly broke out after using this. Huge cysts, mostly on my chin.
I stuck by it for a few more days, and I was convinced it was Purity. No other part of my routine had changed.
So in the end, it went back to Sephora. I didn't even think it removed makeup well or leave my face clean. It just seemed overpriced, overhyped, and disappointing.

I bought this product because one of my friends suggested I should buy this and use it right away after she saw my face. I used to have clear skin and I was proud of it. I still don't know the reason, but 2 years ago I start to break out crazily around my cheeks and it was those hard and painful acne that leave scars. Let me tell you that it is not a miracle product that you use it once or twice and see the result of clearing face. I was quite disappointed at first because I did not see any change, I was still breaking out, however after two or three months, I noticed that I do not feel the bumps whenever I wash my face. For me (I guess combination skin but now my face is getting drier), I would give 5 out of 5 because it helped me a lot, but for my mom who has very sensitive and dry skin, it sting her on her first trial, so I guess it depends on different types of skin of different people. If you want to give it a try, I would recommend using a facial brush because it is quite difficult to cream a foam with your hands - I use Olay's Pro-X brush.

I must be allergic to some ingredient in this product. It is fine for every once in a while, I like the smell, which is slightly herbal and I want to love it, really I do, but if I use it for more than three days in a row, my skin starts to flake and burn. I get scaly dry patches that HURT and turn red. As soon as I stop using it, my skin starts healing. This happened to me years ago when I first bought the product, but I was hoping it was a fluke. Nope. Back then I had to use primrose oil to soothe the burning patches and it was the same old song and dance this time around as well. I don't even have particularly sensitive skin.
