This has the worst taste and smell ever! It's like putting liquid plastic on your lips, and when you drink anything, your whole mouth and throat reeks of that sickening plastic smell and taste. Yuks! This is going straight to the trash.

I've always wanted to try Kiehls because of all of the positive things I've heard, so I bought this lip balm and was disappointed. My lips can be sensitive to lip color in that my lips get dry and chapped. Clinique lipsticks are pretty much the only lip color that doesn't dry out my lips, and Revlon too to a lesser extent. When I applied this, it was the opposite of relief or refreshing, which is what I like to feel when I apply lip balm. It was like I was coating my lips, and they almost felt itchy. I agree with a previous poster about the color separating from the oil or whatever is in there. The color was okay. Will definitely stick to more natural lip balms.

Kiehl's lip balm #1 is apparently a cult product, but I like my lip treatments to have a hint of color in them, so I was eager to try this, as it also contains SPF, which its lip glosses don't.

If not used for long, the product separates. When I first bought my tube, I squeezed out lots and lots of yellow oily goo.

I think the smell and taste is awful, like gasoline. No surprises, as Kiehl's does not hide the fact that this is a "Petrolatum" skin protectant, and it contains a whopping 67.9% petrolatum.

Petrolatum is bad as an emollient; I think there are better (and kinder) moisturizing ingredients out there, and this is just a cheap alternative, but you end up paying heaps more because of the brand name.

I was disappointed with the color too... it goes on nice and sheer, but has pathetic staying power and it's irritating having to apply and reapply so that I don't look washed out. Imagine having to put dollops of balm of your lips and have it sit there for fear of rubbing it off. But believe me, you don't even have to do anything, and the color will just FADE by itself as the balm settles. Highly annoying.

After about 2 weeks of using this, the condition of my dry lips hasn't improved much. In fact, it seems to further dry out my lips (could the sunscreen be responsible for this)?

Paying over $20 for a lip balm is helluva lot and I'd expect better results. Drugstore brands like Nivea are more effective. So, unless you're really curious and want to buy into the hype, get this.

I love lip products like this one, quick and natural "balms" that add color and shine. I have a ton of them and will keep trying new ones until the cows come home.
That being said, this is not a perfect product; it doesn't smell good (very petroleum-ey smell) and doesn't moisturize extremely well.
Now for the Good Stuff: it doesn't dry my lips out, does moisturize adequately, has sunscreen (spf 15, don't know if it's broad spectrum), and leaves a hint of beautiful warm natural sheer brownish red that I find very flattering. I imagine it working well with those who have pale skin. The packaging is also good, a tube that it can be whipped out of a purse and applied quickly and discreetly, not to mention cleanly (no tub or jar to put your grubby hands into) It also has a really nice glossy finish and can be worn over lipsticks to add warmth and/or shine. I always had this in my coat pocket during a trip to San Francisco last winter. It went with everything, and so it went everywhere with me. Like I said, not perfect, but it has good qualities in several categories. I'm almost done with my first tube and will buy another because I like having it handy.

I thought I would love this lip balm with its cherry red colour. However, I did not find it moisturizing at all. It felt nice going on but 5 minutes later my lips felt really dry. It also had a slight gritty texture. And the smell was not good. I don't want all my lip balms to smell like mint or candy but this just smelt off.

Pretty good lip tinted lip conditioner. The tint is a very pretty deep cherry color that is especially flattering on fair skin. However, the moisturizing feeling doesn't last very long - the product seems to evaporate off your lips soon after you apply it, unless you put loads and loads of layers on. If you are looking for a very hydrating product, I would skip this.

I still have it and I am still using it now. The smell is not nice, the color fades quite fast, but I think it does its job as a lip balm, if you want the color to last longer, they also have lip gloss in Kiehl's.

My one huge complain is that everytime I open it and try to push the content out of the tube, the first thing I get is always some oil, then I have to wipe out the oil before I can get the tinted lip balm, I asked the girl in Kiehl's counter, she said that's because my room is too hot, well, I am not sure that's the reason, but that keeps happening to me, so I am not sure I will keep buying it.

I bought two, one for me and one for my mom who is going through chemo, and was suffering greatly due to the dryness and mouth sores associated with her treatments. She loved this lip gloss, it really helped restore her lips, did not irritate her sensitive skin like other lip balms, and didn't have an obnoxious smell. Plus the hint of color made her feel pretty! I loved it too, after switching from plain 'ol chap stick, my lips have never been softer.

I love the not-really-there tint because I use this in school. Damned pricey, at $25 SGD and it doesn't even last for me to have a sip of water. Requires constant reapplication, and does not really moisturise. This stuff dries up too. Damn you, Kiehl's. I put it in my purse along my expensive things for show, but I don't use it that much anymore. Nivea strawberry lipbalm was better than this.

Eeew! Gross is too nice a word to describe this balm. It smells and taste horrible, sort of like petroleum. The colour doesn't go on smoothly and ends up making my lips look patchy. It doesn't stay on long enough for me to have a sip of water and it's expensive. I'd rather buy a tub of Vaseline, works better anyday.

I love the color of this and how it feels on my lips. The smell is a bit gross, but I can deal with that. I always have a tube of this onhand.

I'm normally a chapstick girl but my cousin gave me a tube so I thought I'd try it out. It gives a nice ruby sheen to my lips but I felt that I had to reapply too often. Might be the freezing cold Dallas weather, I cant wait to get back to LA and try it out, definetly a warmer weather product.

Read about this in magazines and while in Hong Kong last Dec, Kiehl's in Harbour City, Kowloon just opened its door. I was tempted to buy but held back and wanted to read more about it first. Then when I went back in July, Hue 30G was sold out! I went to 2 other Kiehl's and it was also sold out. Managed to buy several tubes of 58B for friends and one for myself. Love the colour and the smell.

When I heard Kiehl's is opening in Pavilion, Kuala Lumpur, I was thrilled. Asked a friend to purchase 30G for me but no stock! She bought the clear tube for me. I use it before sleep and it is very moisturising, better than Nivea Lip Care Original, which I have been using for years. It would be great if it comes in a stick. Price wise, Nivea Lip Care gives me better value.

I love this lip balm. I wear it alone most of the time, and it gives the slightest hint of pink to my lips. It keeps my lips moisturized at all times except the dead of winter, when only Aquaphor will do the trick. It looks gorgeous on, and it has no fragrance or flavor, which I adore. I have repurchased this time and time again, and keep one in my bag, my desk, my car, and coat pocket.

Let me preface this by saying I am NOT a lipgloss/lipstick girl. I hate shimmer and glitter and color. I bought this on a whim and the guy at Nordstrom helped me pick out a great balm with a subtle tint to it that still looked naturally pretty. It was only $8.50, and I've wasted so much more in search of the perfect lip product. I LOVE this stuff! It doesn't have a flavor or scent, but I can deal with that. Otherwise, I have found my HG product and will never look back at the glitter gloss again!

I think this balm works fine, and the color works well for my darker SE asian skin. I improve the moisture by layering this over my nude Make Up For Ever lipstick. I luv the effect, b/c the nude lipstick alone gives this undead effect, but with the tint from the Kiehl's, it appears sophisticated...like Angelina Jolie's everyday lip color, except slightly glossier. Hey, any product that lets me compare myself in any way to Angelina is a good find. I'm giving this 3 lippies, b/c I'm grading it as a stand alone product. Though I'm satisfied with the gloss for now, I won't be buying it again, b/c I'm sure I can find something else with the right color and moisturizing ability. However, my lips need the the maximum moisturzing power, which I don't think is typical. So this should work fine for others.

I have kinda mixed feelings on this one. I like the feeling of this lip balm. The thing I don't really care for is the taste and the smell. I may repurchase this, but not sure. I like Burt's Bees Lip Shimmers in Papaya better and is a bit cheaper.

This is nice. It has a nice tint and moisturizes very well, and the SPF is a bonus. The only thing I do not like about it is that it is virtually impossible to apply evenly directly from the tube, so I have to put it on my finger and I hate doing that with tinted products. Therefore, it ends up not getting used and I would not repurchase.

I like the color of this, but otherwise it's awful. At first I found the smell just a little offputting, but after a two days of wearing it the smell was really making me sick to my stomache. And my lips actually feel dryer than they were. The petroleum base really isn't moisturizing.

good stuff. this has pretty much everything you could want in a lip product.. colour, moisture and SPF. the colour is a warm sheer red on my hand, but looks more pink on my lips. i didn't really notice any difference between this and the other shade, except that this one seemed slightly more pigmented. not sticky at all, and it actually feels moisturizing. the scent isn't bad, i didn't even notice until i saw people complaining about it. price is pretty reasonable too.
