i love this. it's just a basic dark brown! you wouldn't think it was the most exciting colour in the world to have, but actually it is pretty exciting because it's a gorgeous, flawless application (thanks to it being a Veluxe) and it's a colour that would suit everyone because it isn't a warm brown or a cool brown. it's just a neutral dark brown that is extremely useful and enriches any look without changing the tone of it.
you can use this as a crease colour, an eyeliner, or even for your eyebrows. i personally love it as a crease colour!
i would recommend this colour for everyone as it's very practical and performs so well.

For some reason i imagined that this color was the perfect crease/outer v color for me-but boy was i wrong. i guess i forgot how pale i am. I think it would look nicer on someone darker. Oh well, I'll have to swap it when i get the chance :)

Brown Down is my darkest crease color. Most importantly it is of the Veluxe formula, the best Mac has to offer along with the more expensive Pro Longwear e/s's. I used to use Handwritten but this is much smoother (Handwritten is a Matte2, not as good a formula), more pigmented, but still has some red in the brown (green eyes, so works for me). Here on the MUA board Mac e/s's are not liked much, but people forget there are many formulas, the best rival any very h/e e/s. Veluxe, and even Pro Longwear. Frost is also, and the frost is a sheen, very pigmented. Back to this e/s, I pair it with Pink Frontier and other pinks/violets (have green eyes) on my lids. It replaced Handwritten and is a much better formula.

This has been my go to crease color for a whole year now:) I can't beleive I haven't reviewed it yet.

Matte brown on the warmer side.

This color can be super intense or really light and subtle, which you can't really get that with a black. Love the versatility of this shadow. It's on the warmer side and it's a dream to blend!!!

Brown Down is my current matte dark brown eyeshadow in my MAC palette. It does have a very slight red tone to it, but also has a grayish cast making it a lot more neutral than Handwritten (which is more red). It's texture is very smooth but densely packed making it harder to get product out. This works to my advantage because I like to build up my darker colors until I get my desired intensity, which in Brown Down's case is 2 or 3 swipes of the pan.

I am NC25-30 for reference and would recommend this to anyone searching for a dark brown eyeshadow.

When i went to the mac store i was looking for a brown smokey eyes combo. The lady suggested this one and patina, and they look amazing together! I also use orb with it (which i already got). this has become my everyday look! it doesnt look too much in daylight either! If you wanna use it as evening makeup you can just put on a little more of brown down and tada! It makes my blue eyes stand out without being to harsh.

I chose Brown Down over other similar browns like Espresso etc because I felt it was warmer. I like it a lot. I find the texture soft, easy to work with and very blendable. I use it as a crease colour with lots of eyeshadows. I tame Coppering with it. I pair it with Woodwinked. I think it goes well with Expensive Pink.
I am very happy with my Brown Down eyeshadow and I got it over the counter, so authentic stuff. I am contemplating getting Swiss Chocolate to expand my collection.
I am NC25 for reference.

Brown Down is an AMAZING eyeshasdow! It is my go-to outer-v color! Along with having excelling color payoff, the texture of this particular eyeshadow is so smooth - and I mean, if you touch this with your (clean) finger, you can feel the smoothness. I love it and I see no reason to get Espresso or any other dark brown color.

I love MAC shadows but this one is absolutely crappy. From what I read from other reviews people like it, so maybe I have got one from a bad patch but mine is so hard to get onto the lid. The only way I can still get some use out of it is when I use it as a eyeliner with a damp brush.

This is so pigmented! Just the slightest touch from my brush picks up visible colour. Perfect for a more earthy toned, wearable smokey eye.

Hands down, the perfect redish-brown eyeshadow for me.I use it all over my green eyes lots of black mascara, and creme d nude on lips.Gives me an easy-quick way to have a sexy look, makes my green eyes pop,but actually i do think that it is a must have for most women,no matter what colour,it is a brown that we can easy use everyday girls-and boys-.

Very nice warm brown color but the texture of the eyeshadow is not the best. I prefer my eyeshadows powdery but it's ok I guess. It's kinda hard to blend though. I wish it was more silky and blendable...

I LOVE THIS !!!!! ... this is a great versatile shade that i carry around with me everywhere i go. Although the color isn't very unique at all, i choose to purchase this over and over again due to its heavenly texture. This shadow guarratees me either a perfect natural look or a great brown smokey eye. I definetly consider this as a must have for it really warms the whole look up.

This is a really great brown! It is deep enough for a corner definer, but can be applied softly as well. This is a must-have MAC shadow!

Love, love, love. It's a neutral dark brown (if such thing exists) because you can use warm and cool colors with it. I've even used it with fuschia eyeshadows and it's still pretty awesome. I like using it to smoke things up a bit so I smudge it on my lash line. (MAC NC42/43)

I am NW 45 for reference. I bought this to use as an everyday crease color. I can use it with any color shadow because it is a buildable color that is very blendable. I have Embark, but it is too dark for everyday use. I have tried many shadows to give me the look I get from Brown Down and had not achieved the look it gives me.

I brought this off of someone I know who was selling it because they didn't like it, I'd never tried it before but for the price I couldn't resist.

So far, I am highly pleased with it. I love the velvet texture of the eye shadow, it glides on smoothly and blends perfectly. I'd been looking for a nice crease colour to pair with woodwinked to create a natural, nice make up look. This is a really nice natural deep brown and fit the bill perfectly. The matte texture really neutralised my whole eye. I'd been pairing woodwinked with Bronze, but I feel the shimmer really made it a bit too glizty for everyday wear. The brown in this is also a tad darker and deeper than Bronze, which has a touch of a goldish tinge, so it stood out more on the lid when paired with woodwinked.

The packaging is the same as all other MAC eyeshadows, in the black case with the clear top. Sturdy and doesn't break when you drop them.

So far, I like this. I wore it in the crease with Modelette and it looked good. I also wore it as an eyeliner with Modelette and Naked Lunch and it was a great dark brown almost a HG! I didnt have any problem with blending.

This color just didn't work with me. It's a reddish brown, pretty warm and intense, and I admit I highly prefer cool browns and taupey shades because they suit me better, red undertones just make me look like I'm sick or like I have been crying a lot. Despite the color itself, the texture of this eyeshadow is a nightmare to me. I just couldn't blend it and it remained harsh and awful. I hate it. Won't repurchase, and will certainly give away this one.
