Violet is a mid-tone true purple with a little sheerness to it, to still preserve that glowiness that a previous reviewer mentioned. it's pearly and frosty with an iridescence to it, and it's a kind of ghostly colour, not in the sense that it's pale, but in the sense that it's sheer and delicate looking once you scoop your brush in, but then packs a hell of a punch! it shows up beautifully. it's a very unique colour to own in my opinion, because this is so versatile. i wore it today over MAC's 'Tan' pigment and then put some darker browns and purples in the crease, and it all showed up this metallicey, warm glimmering lilac that you couldn't quite place your finger on. i think this pigment is perfect for layering over other colours because of it's translucency. here are some ideas:
*(worn alone of course for a beautiful purple in all its glory)
*over golds and coppers
*over champagnes (like Stila's Kitten) or silvers
*mixed with shimmery browns and bronzes
*mixed with colours like MAC's Cranberry/Star Violet
*mixed with blues
the combinations are endless!
that's why this pigment is a must-have. because it's not a block of purple. they are easy to come by, it's a TOUCH of purple that still has phenomenal pigmentation, and because it's a loose pigment, you are freer to really tailor the colour to your needs. hope that all made sense!
now on to some other things. there is a little fallout with this, but because this pigment is so fine, unlike some others, it's really easy to just grab a fluffy face brush and gently sweep any mess away. i always do my foundation and concealer last anyway.
i recommend this to you if you are a fan of purple eyeshadows and if you are after a product that adds purple to any eye look very effortlessly.
i would repurchase!

I would say that it is pricy, but due to how long it lasts I would say that I LOVE LOVE LOVE IT! I have a few different pigments but this one by far I get the most compliments on. Everyone notices it but it is just really pretty. it makes your eyes stand out a lot no matter what eye color you have! I use a Q-tip to apply it and that makes me use it sparingly. I dab the end in water and dip into the pigment to apply.

My bestie gave me hers, I used it today and I think its gorgeous. A really bright metallic purple shade, it looks really vivid and makes my eyes pop. I dabbed it on with a shadow brush rather than stroke it on for a higher impact. Will be experimenting with a smokey eye for nights in/out with this!

Violet is my first pigment from MAC, and I absolutely love it! I've seen many people wear this and I knew immediately that I had to have it. It's a gorgeous purple shade that applies really beautifully, and looks great with many other colours. A must-buy for people who like bold purple eyeshadows!

This is one of the first MAC pigments that I purchased years ago. I LOVE it. I don't have any issues with application, either by itself or with a primer. This is my "go to" purple. I must admit, that once MAC went to the smaller container for about the same price, I was very disappointed.

After my success w/'Blue Brown' I wanted tot try other pigments. I got a sample of this and paired it with BB
Colour:literally the colour of blue violet
Finish: soft shimmer
Texture: creamy
It's a vibrant lavender so will flatter any eye colour and skin tone.
If u like taking a chance w/makeup or like experimenting, pair this with any gold/light brown eyeshadow. It's an intense sudden pop of colour that works so well!
Cute colour that I can use everyday.

Ok... So I have only purchased one other MAC item and that is NYLON for my highlight, which I LOVE! However this Violet pigment is a tad disapointing. I wanted a purple, a GOOD purple thick, vibrant and just PURPLE! This one is purple but it is still sort of sheer and lilac-y. Even after 'packing it on' it still is sheer. I have a NYX pigment that does the pretty much same thing. Oh well it was worth a try, I will still use it of course after spending $20!
Till next time :o)

So many wasted years *sob* *sob*. I bought Violet the other day for the first time & it has become my HG purple eyeshadow. It is sooooo amazingly puuurrretty! Agh I'm so excited!

First the pigmentation in this is breathtaking. It is an intense violet colour that makes green eyes pop! It stays on incredibly well, but I always use MAC paint pot primer before applying this. If you apply this to a naked lid it will not stay well (given it is a loose powder it makes sense it needs to stick to something).

I paid $39 for this, so is a lil exy BUT totally worth it for such an amazing shade. And a little goes a long long way, so there's your value for money!

I can't fault this shadow. If you love purple then you have to buy this right now!!!!! If you don't like purple buy it anyway cause it is *that good* :-)

Hands down love this color, purple is my fav color so I had to get it & I must say its amazing, I used it for a purple smokey eye look, blush & mixed it with some clear lipgloss to make a purple lipcolor (this look was actually used for a photoshoot) but it still looked hot!! But once again my only down fall with all the pigments & reflects is that the container is smaller & there is no filter to help prevent spillage!! If you want color this is a must have pigment!!

I'll never run out of this! Little is more! I saw a MAC beautician "modeling" it and it was applied on heavy & it was beautiful.

This pigment is gorgeous. I wore it for the first time on a purple and black smokey-kinda eye, and it really made the purple pop. Just made my eyes look alive! Its annoying to have to deal with fallout, but easy enough to clean if you leave your base until last. This looks like a boring sort of purple in the jar, but it really does look great on. This is my first MAC pigment, and despite being very pricey here in Aus, I hope to buy many more! Highly recommended

I love this pigment definitely a must have ! It's the perfect purple and for the amount you get I don't mind paying £15. However MAC seems to do away with slot of their decent shades I hope they keep this I don't know what I'd do without it!

Violet pigment is the perfect neutral. It's not too red or too blue. It's right in the middle. This color is very vibrant and looks great with Golden Lemon, Bell- Bottom Blue, and Teal pigments. Great color to have in your collection.

i love this pigment the color is beautiful. its a little pricey but then again it will last u a long time. theres not that much fallout if u pack it on fisrt instead of brushing it on. i read a review where that was a prolem for someone but fyi all loose pigment has fall out u just have to apply it correctly so its not that much.

i'll be the first to admit it - i have a serious purple "affliction". i have SOOO many...But it is hard to find what i call neutral purples for my skin tone (ones that don't make me look like i've got 2 black eyes) but this one is absolutely perfect for me. it's like satellite dreams on crack!
just a sidebar rant here - i read this time and time again - (user slaps self in forehead EVERY time i read comments like it) for those who are complaining about being disappointed with mac pigments and all of the "fallout" and how terrible they are., here is some good advice - 1. buy and use a good eyeshadow primer., 2. learn the proper makeup application techniques for the product you are using and last but not least., - 3. get the right tools for your makeup application. you'll find yourself not so disappointed in the future with quality products.
Now with that said - i'll be the first to say there definately are some MAC pigments (rose, frozen white, pink opal etc. just to name a few) that are way chunkier than others but this certainly isn't one of them., The consistency of MAC Violet pigment is like silk. its a gorgeous color, if you're eyeballing this one, just get it - YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED.

I've heard that purples are supposed to make dk. brown eyes pop, well over the years I tried several purples from various brands, but they always either made my eyes look bruised or raccoonish. Well I think I finally found what I've been looking for, violet pigment gives just the right amount of color to be an all over lid color or crease color. I think this will look beautiful paired with the new mac venomous villians mineralized purple eyeshadow.

Eep! This is my perfect shade of purple! I'm in love with purple eyeshadows--they compliment my brown eyes really well, so I have a collection of them. This pigment is really easy to apply--I don't notice any fallout--and it's a bright, but not overly so, shade of purple that just rocks. Will def. repurchase, although pigments last forever, so not sure I'll ever have to...
