Caveat on this product, don't use so much that it feels like plaster on your hair...a little goes a long way. I remember when I was wearing my hair in a more natural curly style, I would use this product to keep the frizz down and it worked! Also, don't let this product get too cold (or likely too hot), it will ruin the consistency and you'll never get it back.

Good also for smoothing stray hairs...but be careful how much you use.

Preferred to Sumo Wax since more versatile, as a result of being lighter and less oily. Buildable, yet easily washed out, and leaves no noticeable residue between washes. Expensive, yes, but lasts for months.

This product is okay. I have fine, thick, wavy hair in a pixie cut so I need something substantial to texturize my hair when I style it because I like it to look piecey. I think Sumo Tech does the job alright, but I found I disliked the scent, which is kind of pungent/masculine and on the strong side. I wished that it added some more moisture to my hair, which tends to be a bit dry, and provided more lift. I tried layering it with Bb grooming creme but wasn't impressed. I have found other products that do the same job, cost less for much more product, and smell better. I won't be repurchasing this.

I am consistently impressed with Bb products. I see a difference when I use products together rather than just using one at a time. I wash using my shampoo du jour (currently Biolage color care until it runs out, then back to Bb) and condition with Bb Super Rich. I spray Prep all over my towel dried hair and comb it out. Then I use Bb Styling Lotion and spray all over before blowdrying. I usually do this at night, and when I wake up in the morning I rub Sumotech between my fingers and quickly run my fingers through my hair...kind of pulling on the sections that I want to look piecy. It keeps my side bangs in place without making them greasy. I just do that and I'm good to go. The best part is that I can go another 2 days without washing my hair. I have NEVER been able to do that using a similar product. My length just reaches my shoulders and I highlight every 8-10 weeks. I previously had very dry ends, but not washing every day has changed that immensely. I'm afraid my husband will discover this little jar on my side of the counter and he'll steal it! Love Bb!!!

here's the lowdown -- sumotech is a wonder product in a jar. for my male, thick, coarse, asian hair i put in about dimes worth while its damp and run it through my hair, push my hair into place, and when it air dries it's matte finished, de-puffyfied and looks natural and feels touchable. if i want to slick it back and go for a more vintage look i'll use a bit more product while its damp and slick it into place. if i want to wear it more naturally but want a little more separation and definition, i'll blow dry it into place then take some emulsified sumotech and rub it on the ends of my hair. for ze LADIES, after i've done any kind of curl set or just sets in general, i well take a small amount and just rub it into my palms, have my ladies flip their hair down, and push it into the ends of their hair to, again, creat more definition in layered/pieced out long cuts. bottom line is, this product is so versatile - from short to long to edgy to conservative - once you find the right amount to use for ur style, when you should apply it, and how/how not to treat it ---- its a wonder product in a jar!

I recently cut my hair short, and while getting ready at one of my guy friends houses, decided to try using some of this for texture. I Immediately fell in love! It doesn't weigh down your hair, and you can restyle as necessary. I started with a little, which would be great for a day time, but love to totally texture my hair to the max when I'm going out or even for pictures. This stuff even looks amazing on long hair, just work some onto the bottom 2/3 of the hair and voila, gorgeous texture and definition! Love the versatility.

On my second one. I love the fresh scent, the matte finish and the hold. Growing out my bangs, and this gives perfect hold without making my hair stiff, or flaky. Will continue to purchase this great product!

This gives great texture and control without being greasy. It also has a matte finish which I like and the jar lasts forever since it doesn't take much to work.

I like this a lot, though it worked a little better before I got a thinned-out cut to make my hair flip a lot more out at the ends. (I have straight hair that's fine, but I have a lot of it.) Where it never used to weigh my hair down at all, now it can if I use too much. Usually I don't like scented products, but the smell on this is so fabulous, clean and long-lasting.

Just chopped off all of my hair and am using a pomade for the 1st time in years. This offers texture without being sticky or stiff and it wears very well throughout the day. It does not offer a lot of control or hold but that's not a deal breaker for me - I'd rather have a more natural look. Why is this not a "5" for me? I don't really like the smell and I suspect I could get something similar for a cheaper price. Overall, I think I like this product and would probably re-purchase, unless I stumble upon a better-smelling product.

I've been using this for about a year now, ever since I cut my hair short. It's very nice, though not all that different from other styling waxes (like Fiber). I love the scent -- light and clean. It gives nice body and control to my hair, without being stiff or sticky (unless I use too much). It is, however, a bit stiff if I use it on damp hair. A jar lasts for about 3-4 months or so of daily use (I use a small, pea-sized dab, rubbed between my palms before applying it to my hair).

with shoulder length hair, this product provides definition to my frayed layers. It also helps to add more volume to the top. I warm the product between my palms, then swish it over my hair. Then I use my fingertips to apply small amounts to the ends of my hair. Great smell.

I got this based on the reviews here and hate it. I dug a tiny plug of this wax out of the fancy jar and dabbed it on my long fine hair and could not understand why I should be using it.
It is very hard, just like unmelted parafin wax which I believe is what it is. I tried warming it up to melt it in my hands but I think my hands would have to be at least 200 degrees to liquify this enough to be usable in my hair.
I was hoping for some hold and frizz control, or some definition or something, but spreading solid wax on my hair is not the answer.
And I feel really ripped off as I paid about $20 for this pretty jar of wax.

Probably my favorite wax/paste product, at least for now. It performs basically the same as the other waxes/pastes (dirt, fiber, etc.), but it has a really neat, unique scent that I like.

I use a pea sized amount, rub it between my hands and put it into the hair, then repeat however many times necessary. It gives a little bit of a "dirty" look and can help the hair clump together or control it.

My hair is really fine, and the product does weigh it down somewhat (but pretty much all products with weight do). Sometimes I mix some hairspray with it so that it has more hold.

Great for definition. Is a little stiff/thick at first. It works better if you have slightly damp hands. Dab on ends of hair for curl definition or for styling bangs that you are trying to grow out.

I've used some other B&B products before, like Surf Spray (love it!), and decided to try the Sumo Tech. I must agree that this is a really great styling wax because it isn't greasy and it gives good hold. With fine hair, and lots of it, I found that medium hold waxes wouldn't last all day, but this one does. And, when I was in the salon the other day buying the tub, a stylist gave me a GREAT tip. She said if you just wet your hands a little, and then run them through your hair, the water will re-activate the wax and you can restyle, fluff, whatever. This tip worked for me, and like the stylist said: it gives you a good reason to play with your hair all day.

I was using the Aveda whipped stuff before and my hairdresser used this on me and I liked the smell and what it did. However, trying to use it myself I am having problems applying the product. I can't warm it enough in my hands to make it spreadable. I have short highlighted blonde hair that is very fine. So any clumpy thing will be visible immediately. I am more than happy to get some insight from some user as to how to apply it properly. THats the only reason for me to say I would not purchase it again.

I went out and bought this product after reading all the great reviews on MUA but I found that this wax didn't give any hold to my shoulder-length fine, straight hair. It didn't give me much texture to hold and was gone by an hour or so. I did like the smell though...my friend described it like "men's cologne."
