Fruity, fizzy, fresh, bright, refreshing and lovely!
( I do love civet. That is the best part of many vintage perfumes. Among the more modern fragrances, Pamplelune is finally something fruity and fresh I can enjoy from start to finish. Then again, I also like Kouros and Eau d'Hermès, so...)

I want to give this a ZERO. This shouldn't be listed under fragrances at all, its a stench! I got this as part of a gift set...all the other Guerlains smelled great but this one was terrible! My hubby was outraged at the 'cat pee' smell which we just classified as an ammoniacal odour! I find it hard to believe it has anything to do with body chemistry cuz it smells the same even on just a piece of card! I can't believe Guerlain is even producing this stuff! I threw it in the trash cuz I can't give such a horrid smelling thing to anyone and had to wash it off me!

Omg. I tried it in sephora today. I swear, it smelled just like the kitty litterbox after we've gone away for the weekend and left the cats indoors. The smell is uncanny. If it didn't waft up and hit me in the face I would never have believed that a perfume could smell like this. Wow.

I cannot believe all these reviews about cat urine! This fragrance does not smell that way on me, but I apparently have the body chemistry for Guerlain fragrances because I've never tried one that didn't smell good on me. This starts off as a bright citrus ("pamplemousse" or grapefruit, hence the name of the fragrance) and fades to a more sophisticated musky citrus after a while. Unlike my other Aqua Allegoria, this fragrance is quite strong and required no more than 2 spritzes. It's not like it will take your breath away, but my other I apply almost like a body splash or cologne. If I did that with this, I'd be smelled a mile away!
So anyway, if Guerlain fragrances work for you and you like citrus, try this. Perfumes can be hit or miss so don't let negative reviews keep you from trying one. I have noticed that the Aqua Allegoria line is not highly rated, but I love the two I have, especially for summer!

I tried to order this from Sephora, as I had a gift card from my lovely son. Actually I had two gift cards, and was ordering this and the new jasmine one. Long stories being short, I had a computer problem and could only order the jasmine one. Two days later, husband was out of town, and I could go shopping without any nagging. Decided to pick this up. Sprayed it on my arm and - YUCK! I am one of the unfortunates that it just does not work on. I thought the whole cat pee thing was really people being overly touchy and dramatic. But, for me they where right. This was GROSS (on me). I am Guerlain lover and have never found anything that I did not like - except this. I bought the mandarin - basilic, which I thought I would dislike, but turns out I love. I had the floria nymphea - my absolute favorite. I can see the mandarin eeking up there to become a favorite, too. My suggestion would be to try this one on first. So many people seem to love it that it must be awesome, if it fits your chemistry. SO sad for me, as my goal was to collect them all!

I've been lemming this for quite some time. I love citrus and patchouli fragrances. Finally tried this while I had a girlfriend with me who is great at identifying notes. Little spritz and I got the grapefruit, maybe something piney and a boatload of other things. She said the same thing "there's so much going on here!" I got the earthiness right away and liked it. Wandered around some more, waited about 20 min and took another sniff. GDMFSOB. I got the BO smell. Had her sniff again, the way she reared back said it all. By the time we got home (about an hour later), she sniffed again and (without reading any of these reviews) said "cat pee!" Yep, I am one of the few that this goes completely rancid on. I can't not recommend trying it. Many, many people love this - if you're reading this, I hope you try it and do NOT have it turn on you. A 3 seemed a fair rating as I know this is not a horrible scent on the majority of the population!

Bleck. I LOVE grapefruit (and citrus in general) ... this is a no no. I don't love sickly sweet citrus/ grapefruit scents mind you ... I like fresh grapefruit scents but this one is not to me ... it is a very dry, dusty grapefruit (not juicy! at all) ... It chemically sharp and thin smelling to me - too masculine ... not a fave!

I am a citrus scent lover, and given that funds and cabinet space are limited, I had to pick just two to own. I chose Eau de Guerlain and Aqua Allegorica Pamplelune. I am not really good about understanding the notes in fragrences, but I smell something really gorgeously sweet in this, and I chose it because it has this sweetness while Eau de Guerlain is more herbal.

Reading the reviews below would probably put most off this fragrance, and that's a pity, because Luca Turin is correct when he says this is the best grapefruit fragrance ever. He famously dubbed it "a sunny masterpiece" and I have to agree.
When you first spritz the EdT, you get black currant, basil, bergamot and fresh grapefruit - a macedoine of citrus fruit. As it dries down, the neroli & petitgrain become more apparent while the black currant carries over. This segues into the patchouli.
At the final drydown, a lighter version of the Guerlain vanilla appears - and somehow the grapefruit returns! So at about 4 hours, you have a dry vanilla and grapefruit feeling.
The lighter version of the Guerlain vanilla makes sense because this perfume was made by Mathilde Laurent, who also made Shalimar Light.
All this talk of cat pee and armpits is the province of a very few. It's a best-selling fragrance - obviously the vast majority of women can wear it. The "earthiness" people are trying to reference is probably the musky, damp-dry-leaf background of the patchouli mixed with the end of the black currant.
Real patchouli isn't for everybody - most people are used to two cheap kinds, 1 that's sweet and hippie-ish, the other that's almost camphor-esque, like mothballs. You'll find neither here.
Since the concept of this fragrance is taking a walk in a citrus orchard, you're going to be led through the fruit, the scent of snapped green twigs, a sense of the fruit being carried on the breeze, the oils of the fresh green citrus leaves, and finally a hint of the pure, rich soil, the accumulation of mulched scented leaves just dry from the dew.
Then at the end, like a closing credit, there's the lighter Guerlain vanilla, as if to say "This journey brought to you by. . .G." But not everyone may want to take this walk - you might prefer to sit in the pink sparkly princess candy cloud so many scents are today.

Wow, this does *not* work with my body chemistry!
When I used it I got a blast of sharp pine needles.
This phase holds for about ten minutes then the grapfruit note peeks shyly around the pine tree....and stays there.
After about twenty min the notes develop into something that could turn into that cat pee smell but before that happens I am busily scrubbing this off.
Too bad, I had high hopes for this one; tangy grapefruit sounds like heaven on a hot summer day...

Lol at the "cat pee" references... lucky for me, I am 1000000000% dog lover :) (never owned a cat in my life).
On me, Pamplelune is a wonderful and fresh grapefruit/green fragrance that is in NO way candied/synthetic-sweet (yay!). This fragrance literally smells like you are in a very grassy field cutting up a grapefruit. I love the "realness" of Pamplelune... it is SO nostalgic and refreshing. I have just finished a small decant and plan on purchasing soon. A+

Delightful fragrance. I was afraid this would open with a burst of grapefruit soda, but thankfully, no. I would call the first impression something classy and dry.. cool and refreshing. That settles into a true grapefruit with a hint of warmth, but not too much sweetness. The scent stays truly fresh. Though I wish it had more depth and complexity, it is lovely as it is - it just keeps me longing for more of it...

Hi There! I bought this because the day I tested it, I was already wearing Miss Dior.
When I tried this on its own, it smelled like sweat and grapefruit rinds, so I was really disappointed. I tried to figure out why it smelled so good in the store and so sweaty now, and then I remembered, I was wearing Miss Dior. I immediately tried the two together (light spritz of the Pamplelune, medium spritz of Miss Dior), et voila! An absolutely stunning fragrance. Even the following day, I walked by clothes that I had worn the day before with the combined scent, and it still smelled amazing. This scent doesn't necessarily improve Miss Dior, but Miss Dior definitely saves Pamplelune and turns it into something stunning!

Obviously there are huge variances in people's chemistries and also how we perceive fragrances, or Pampelune would've been taken off the market years ago.
You cannot believe how HORRID this smells on me...forgive my rudeness, but it smells exactly like cat pee!! Huge ammonia note!
I rather like the Aqua Allegoria line as a whole though.

No.1 mood lifter for me!
The patchouli anchors the citruses and it's not as fleeting as many other citrus-based scents.
Absolute stock-worthy and a staple for all year round because in spring and summer it's refreshing and in winter it lifts your mood making you think of summer days.
The grapefruit is an aromatherapeutical and the herbal blackcurrant and smooth vanilla make it a true Guerlain blend. You cannot stop sniffing your wrist or sleeve and your face mirrors sunlight with its smile.
Versatile travel scent, too.

I call this my happy juice! Seriously uplifting and absolutely addictive. I have bottles stashed everywhere. I spray and immediately break into a smile. No other fragrance makes me feel this way so this will always hold a special place in my heart.

RIS - not sure of price, but guessing on the pricier side.
Defintely very grapefruit smelling. It's a bright and sunny citrus fragrance, with some warmer vanilla notes.

The topnotes are addictive and uplifting...a fresh burst of citrus quickly mixing with sweet blackcurrant and then sexy vanilla and patchouli. 30 mins it fades down to B.O. That's right...sweat smell. I couldn't get over this disappointment and had to return the bottle, no matter how great the first whiff is.

* OH * MY * GOODNESS *
This fragrance is truely magical... I also have the shower gel for this fragrance and when teamed together the result is just heavenly.. I do not get any of the bad smells reported by other reviewers, it is simply a beautiful fresh orange blossum smell with a lovely sweet yet smooth overall smell.. this really is now my favourite perfume of all time.. and I own a LOT of perfumes.. I have I think hmm.. maybe 8 others of the Aqua Allegoria range, all of which are delicious, but this one really does everything.. the smell is like walking through an orange orchard in the warm spring sunshine - it just makes you smile :)

Absolutely Beautiful Fragrance, picked this up duty free at an airport on my way to Denmark, the price was very cheap. In pounds about £17 but this was 40% off and duty free, so very very good price. I cannot describe the scent, its very Fruity Fresh and crisp, too fruity and fresh for maybe a formal night date, but never the less. it still smells absolutely beautiful! and you can wear it anywhere you like without it being 'overpowering'.
After a warm shower, spray this baby on. and you feel like a new woman, revitalises you more than the shower did.
The scent lasts for ages actually, when i first picked it up i thought it wouldn't last long on my skin. but it lasts a good 2-3-4 hour, plus as it wears off, it hints off a light floral fragrance, just a hint. and keeps you smelling fresh for ages, a tip too (hours after spraying on the neck and you feel the scent evaporating, rub your neck again, and it should hint more fragrance. )
I also tested the cherry blossom at the duty free, and really didn't like the scent much. as soon as i tried pamplelune i knew i had to have it!. plus it was cheaper than the cherry blossom. for some reason ://
The beautiful perfume bottle is stunning. leave it around the house, or in your bedroom. gives it a more posh art Deco look. like other perfume bottles cant :).
Other than that It's SUPER ZESTY, lemony, grapefruit and orangey with hints of a light floral or maybe hibiscus?, I cant really describe the scent more as its just absolutely divine.
you need to have this girls. Its a great pick me up scent. that will last!!
