This stuff works like a charm. I don't necessarily have the oiliest complexion, but throughout the day my T zone does get shiny which I HATE. I bought this from Ulta, put it on right when I got home and my nose has yet to look the least bit oily. It's been 5 hours since so I definitely recommend this to anyone in need. Love it!

I love this product!! I have been using it since it first came out (I think; and back then there were a lot more ingredients). Back when I first started using this i had very very oily skin with terrible acne and my mom wouldn't let me wear any makeup, it was the only thing i used but it still worked fairly well. then for some reason i stop using it and started looking at other products, but i couldn't find anything that worked as well. And believe me, I tried every product i could get my hands on! Now I started using it again and it works great! i also use Mat Velvet+ by Makeup Forever liquid foundation and sometimes I use NYX Stay Matte But Not Flat powder foundation (in addition to the mat velvet); together they work fabulous! Although now (about 3 years later) my skin is slightly less oily than what it was before and my acne has almost completely gone away. Also, I have realized that there is no product that can make me perfectly oil free. but this product is the best one I have used. I would definitely buy this again, it also lasts a long time because you really don't need to use that much.

I bought this because I have excessively oily skin. However, I found that all this "primer" really does is create rough patches that are not suitable for blending foundation over. I hate wearing this under any kind of makeup, and if i wear it without makeup I end up with a dull grayish cast wherever I applied it. Also, it tends to fly out of the tube in little spurts that end up on the mirror or the wall, so be careful. ugh.

OBSESSED! I can't live without it. I have very oily dewey skin but a pretty good complexion. I hate wearing a lot of makeup because I have a nice patch of freckles on my nose and tops of my cheeks that I don't want to hide so I prefer to stick to concealer and powder and the occasional blush or bronzer, but I always get oily throughout the day! I moisturize so I don't overproduce oil, I use a toner after I moisturize, I've tried so many matte primers and lotions and they all are awful! But this is amazing! the trick is to put in on and gently smooth on skin when your skin is feeling a bit dewey-it corrects it immediately and will last me all day and night--even in Florida humidity and even when I'm out drinking with the girls or dancing! Please do yourself a favor and buy it, it's worth the money!

This is another product I have to use every day. I have extremely oily skin so this product is a must. There definitely is a learning curve to this product. And it does get chalky sometimes, which is why I took off a lippy. But still, this is a staple in my regimen. I use this after my bb cream and compact powder. I used a tiny amount, maybe 1/4 of a pea or less, for my nose, for each cheek, and my forehead. You MUST pat this product on, not rub it. And right when you start patting, you must distribute this as evenly as possible all over the area you are applying it to, or else it will appear chalky if there is a even a little bit more product in one "pat" than another. Even after 4 years of using this, a a few white spots still appear here and there. Also, having used this product for 4 years, I have found that wearing a moisturizer w/ spf will make getting chalky spots easier for some reason. To avoid chalky spots, just remember to use as little product as possible, and pat pat pat! Although my skin is so oily that it does melt thru this product in about 6-8 hours, it is the best product I have found that I have had any success with to control the oil on my face. Comparable, is Urban Decay's De-Slick in a Tube. It's about the same price, but the consistency is just a little bit more fluid, which might make it easier to apply evenly. Even so, the mattifying power of this one is definitely the best I have found.

This primer has a gel like consistency, and feel cool to the touch when you put it on. It dries quickly and leaves a very matte smooth feel to the skin. When I use this, I do think my foundation lasts longer. You can supposedly use this over makeup as well, but I never have. I rarely have the need to touch up. This is different than the usual sort of primer that I'm used to. I use this in the summer only. My skin dries out a bit in the winter so I don't find ths product necessary in cooler weather.

Is this product still available in Canada? I have had Sephora and SDM tell me they have discontinued this?
Worked well on my forehead but had limited succes in nose/chin/cheek areas (even with serum/moisturizer it turned chalky) Any suggestions?

This is a great product to prevent shine, and it works dramatically better than other similar products. This one doesn't have that silky, silicone texture that many other shine inhibitors have. It's been a miracle product for my skin, which gets really shiny. I find that it works best if you pat it onto the skin as a last step after putting on makeup. Unfortunately, it is tricky to apply, and if you put on too much it will dry as an opaque white colour. It's a good idea to put it on, let it dry, and check that it looks ok before you leave the house. Despite this issue, I still use it everyday because it works so well.

I am so incredibly disappointed with this product. I had high hopes after reading so many positive reviews and I finally went out and bought a tube of it this past weekend. I have incredibly oily skin and with my typical makeup routine, I can go about 2-3 hours before I have to blot. I've worn this product a few times and every single time I've become overwhelmingly oily within the hour! I've tried multiple different application techniques when putting on my makeup to see if maybe I've just been applying it wrong, but nothing seems to cut it. My makeup always ends up looking super cakey and unappealing with this. I'll give it another couple tries before I return it, but I can already tell this product isn't the miracle I was hoping for.

This is one of the standbys in my small daily makeup array. I don't have really oily skin any more, but I do shine on the forehead and across the nose, and this dulls it the perfect amount, without the dusty look, or ultimately pore-clogging effects (at least on my face) of powder or silicones.
The good:
Just a plain product that does what it says.
No scent.
Nice finish on its own.
Tube container makes it easy to dispense the small amounts I need.
The not perfect:
Dries out a bit towards the end of the tube -- when it starts looking flaky on my skin, I know it's time for a new one.
Can be a bit drying in winter, emphasising the forehead lines more than I would like.
No good for the rare times when I'm actually applying other makeup to my face; leads to sticking and pulling.

I've always had oily, yet unhappy without a nice thick moisturizer skin. This makes for an additional oily look as the hours pass during the day. Anti-shine does help mattify my skin, but only for a few hours at a time. I only use it on my nose and forehead. I would go ahead and put it on my chin and cheeks too, but unfortunately I suspect something in this occasionally makes me breakout (as I rarely ever break out on my nose & chin, but if I use this a lot I'll get a spot every once in awhile) so I'd rather not put it in my acne prone areas.
Not very fond of the high price tag for such a small tube, but since I use it sparingly it lasts forever. I also like that it comes in a squeezy tube instead of a pump, so you can be more precise with how much you want out.

This is a fantastic product, that gives my skin a smooth pallate for putting on makeup. It zeroes out my shine and makes my pores appear so much smaller! Definitely like the tube more than the compact.

I will never be with out this wee tube of magic ever! Here's my routine for keeping my face shine free. First I wash with what ever cleanser is in the shower, then I tone with Clinique #3 toner, then I apply SK-II essence, then moisterize with MAC oil control lotion. I let all the soak in while I do my hair or make my morning cuppa. Then I add smashbox's anti shine only to the areas I get oily (t zone and a bit on my cheeks) then wait I minute until it dries and goes very smooth to the touch - this is very important to stop it from "balling" up when you apply products on top, I then add benefits porefessional to my nose and cheeks, then apply what ever base I'm wearing that day (I'm wearing skin 79 hot pink bb cream alot seeing as its summer here atm) then conceal with benefit erase paste then power with benefit hello flawless and I'm done and stay shine free much all day which is something that has never happened before!

After reading many rave reviews on this primer, I decided to give it a shot. I've been trying to find oil-controlling products (powder, primer etc.) for a long time and I'm still searching.
This primer does give a matt finish at first, but within an hour, my face started to get oily, as usual. Really really disappointed, and I've wasted money on something that doesn't work.

Expensive but it last a long time (at least 6 months, im guessing) depending how much you use (which doesnt need to be much). I have oily skin but its not as bad as it use to be and this anti shine keeps the shine away for about 3 to 4 hrs! Will be buying again when I run out.

Great for soaking up oil and evening out skin tone. The plastic tube can make it hard to get the last bit out. I use it in conjunction with Estee Lauder Double Matte pressed powder. Overall, a great product.
UPDATE: I have now been using this product for a year (2 tubes). I started mixing it 50-50 with the Smashbox Photo Finish Primer SPF 15 before applying and it has worked MIRACLES on my very combination skin. I may have to blot once during the day (maybe one day a week), but otherwise I'm oil-free, even when my day ends up being 18 hours long! Before this product, I was blotting an hour after I got out of the shower. Mixing with the other primer has made the product go on extremely smoothly and has eliminated the pilling effect that used to happen when I applied makeup over it. This combination makes my makeup last all day, even through sun, sweat, heat and humidity. Truly a HG product for me!!
One lippie deducted because I have to mix it (not layer, MIX) with the other Smashbox primer as described above to get the HG results.

I love this primer! You only need the tiniest amount to cover ur whole face, not even pea sized, as a little goes a long way and if you use to much product it sort of flakes of your skin. It's great for mattifying your face, my fine lines were def reduced using this and it does make your foundation last a lot longer / all day! Its pretty pricey but as u only need the tiniest amount the tube will last u ages. Like the packaging, only downside is when you have used up most of the product it is difficult to get the last drop out. def buying this again!

This is the best anti shine product going, I have oily acne prone skin and although I have to dab my face once a day this stuff keeps the oil at bay and prevents my make up dripping off. It's kinda expensive to start with but I have had my tube since may and it's only just getting to the end ... That's 7 months! A little goes a long way! Foundation application is a little harder but you soon get used to it. I will be buying this product again ... If your from the , I purchase mine from debenhams.
