I used this both day and night. It does not have enough moisture for my skin, even over the EL Advanced Night Repair. My skin had multiple tiny wrinkles, plus any foundation slid off of my skin. Odd combination, I know. It might be a good product during the summer so will try it again in a few months.

PROS: No harsh scent (just a mild, natural scent.) Very moisturizing. LOTS of great ingredients to help with aging and healthy skin. Did not bother the sensitivity of my skin at all. Feels very nourishing going on.
CONS: This clogged my pores and even caused blackheads. I took it out of my schedule and put it back in to confirm. It happened again. (I've tried a LOT of moisturizers, even heavier ones, and very rarely have had this reaction.)
PURCHASING TIPS: Look around online. You can get this cheaper at places like SkinMedix and Beautybar.com
ALTERNATES: My new love is Derma e's Hyaluronic Acid line night cream.

I have combination skin, more oily than dry but not acne prone, though my pores easily clog (blackhead and whitehead city if I use thw wrong products!) Use this as my night cream. Perfect amount of moisture to replenish skin after exfoliation. Sinks in well and doesn't clog pores or cause break outs. Use with the AgeSmart system or Ultra Calming Cleanser, depending on the day. Leaves skin feeling plump and soft in the morning. Can't say enough!

I had previously used Dermalogica's Active Moist (for years I've alternated between this and Darphin's Arovita C) and had very good experience with it. However, incouraged by a supposedly better ingredients of Intensive Moisture Balance, I decided to try it.
This is definitely one of the best moisturisers I've used. It got my skin competely rid of dry patches while leaving it feeling very smooth and moist. I use it morning and evening applying a generous amount on my face that quickly sinks in without making my face look oily. The smell is sorf of chemical which I don't mind at all but some might. Packaging is, as with most Dermalogica products, very practical, letting you control how much you squeeze out while keeping the product safe inside the tube.

I love this stuff. I was on a hunt for a really good, moisturizing face cream that I can wear under my makeup and not cause any dry patches. I have been using a prescription strength lightening cream that contains kojic acid, hydroquione and retinol that is making my skin very sensitive and red with major flaking. I went to Ulta and looked around what seemed like forever and came across this line. At first i was skeptical since I had never tried the line and i was afraid i would end up with a huge rash from the ingredients. I normally use erno laszlo but I can't wear the balm during the day and the supposedly hydrating day cream is not hydrating enough. so I picked up the small size and i love this stuff! i have been using it 2x a day for about a month after i cleanse and tone and i love it. no breakouts, no rash reactions, nothing! no fragrance which i love. i only wish it had a spf but i guess beggers can't be choosers. i will continue to use this product and i will get the bigger bottle next.

Not for me. I found it took awhile to sink in and my pores are congested and huge. After it does sink in, there's no dewiness or glow. My skin looks dull. I will say I have no flakes, dry patches, or tightness, but I've used much better moisturizers that were able to relieve dryness and up radiance. If you're skin is fickle I'd recommend trying the sample size of this. I know I'm glad I didn't go full size the first time around.
Edit: It wasn't his moisturizer that was dulling my complexion and clogging my pores--it was my cleanser. Once I changed that and continued to use this cream I noticed a huge difference. My skin went back to healthy and plump, and no oilies! I still prefer Darphin's Arovita C for the glow it gives, but Intensive Moisture Balance is pretty good stuff.

This year, Melbourne's winter has been particularly BAD with rain, wind and biting cold temperatures everyday. As such, my faithful little La Mer Creme de La Mer gel-cream that was so good for me in Spring/Summer just didn't do it for me this Autumn/Winter. My skin was so dry and patchy, I had to resort to a whole new skin regime to get it back on track. I love Dermalogica for it's Microfoliant but I'm not a huge fan of its Active Moist. However, I was keen to try the Intensive Moisture Balance and seriously, it's the best thing since sliced bread. It's so hydrating without being heavy and sinks in almost straight away. I don't mind the tube packaging as it helps me control how much moisturizer to use and is definitely more hygenic than a jar. Initially, I only used this in the morning but quickly adopted it for night as well and my skin has been positively GLOWING ever since! No breakouts whatsoever.

I've tried all dermalogica products for anti-aging and sensitive skin. THEY ARE ALL BAD. Full of parabens, silicones and pepitides ( stimulators of colagens type of SCAR)
Very bad products. This is my sincere experience with Dermalogica products.

I am a dermalogica skincare user for the last 4 years... I've been using skin smoothing cream, however starting last year, my skin changed to combination.... So, i have breakouts at my jawline and facing this problem for a few months... I changed my diet, eating more veggies, fruits, but it only helps a little... The beautician advised it is due to moisture imbalance and insufficient hydration... She recommended me to change to intensive moisture balance, and guess what, all my combination skin problems resolved and no more sensitive skin!!! This moisturizer has definitely becoming my HG... Will definitely repurchase...

I got a sample of this and while i like squeezy tubes and the price of the normal sized for me is ok (because of dermalogica) it was so itchy! So, i thought the product in the sample was expired and I bought full size! It was itchy again! I gave it to a friend of mine and she says it's great and i should buy her another one (haha!!!)

I've finally found a replacement that my skin loves just as much as my beloved Dove Facial Lotion with SPF15 that was discontinued a few years back! I swear I've tried every moisturizer I've seen on the shelves with no such luck. It wasn't until I went back to school to become an esthetician that I discovered this moisturizer as my school is a Dermalogica Partner. I recommend this to just about everyone over any other Dermalogica moisturizer with the exception of those with oily or breakout prone skin. My skin is very dry normally but since I bought the professional size bottle of this, it's less flaky, tight and parched. I can almost feel my face soaking it up and after I'm left with glowy, smooth, flake-free, hydrated skin that I truly have not felt since my HG Dove Lotion. I'm very product picky when it comes to textures, smells and consistency in my facial products but I have zero complaints with Intensive Moisture Balance. It smells clean and calming (like most Dermalogica products smell) and is thick enough to feel more like a cream but once it's all massaged in, it feels just right in every way. Not too thick like night creams (even with dry skin I hate feeling like I'm going to sleep with a 5lb mask of moisturizer on) but not too light where you feel like your skin did t absorb anything at all either. I'm most definitely going to be repurchasing but a little bit does go far so with the professional size I'm betting I won't even need to repurchase till probably the end of the year. For me, as I said its not too heavy so I'm able to wear this both in the A.M and the P.M but I do know of some ppl who have found it only works as their day cream OR their night cream but not both. Definitely worth a try if you're skin is prematurely aging, dry, dehydrated, tight or flaky! So happy I finally found something that makes me flake-free AND YAY I'll never have to pay full price! ;)

Just got a sample and usually know within 2 days if a product works or not - this one does. It's great. Moisturises well, sinks in totally leaving my skin feeling plump and hydrated but no film or greesy feeling on top. Noticed an extra radiance too, which I wasn't expecting after a couple of days.
I didn't want to like it because of the price and was about to purchase the Clinique Moisture surge intensive cream, but will now be ordering this as I just love how it feels. Incidently I think if you have very dry flakey skin this may not be enough for you. Mine is dry feeling and tight all day, but not so much that it looks dry it (so dry/combo skin) and it works perfectly for me.
UPDATE – Ordered full size and was using this with EL adv night repair, but found my skin went flaky. Think it was too much retinol with them both so stopped use for now and will continue when using a non-retinal serum. Took 1 lippie off for that.

I was reccomended to give this a try after I heard so many people say it was awesome at giving long lasting moisture to dry skintypes, but for me and my desert-dry face it unfortunately didn't do much - except being an average moisturiser with a HUGE price tag... It's sad really, because I really wanted this to work. On the bright side it didn't sting upon application, and I think it has some beneficial ingredients in it, but this wouldn't be enough for me either for daytime or night as I would be dry within the hour again. AND it makes me shiny... So basically I only looked like greaseball, but didn't feel like one, does anyone see the obvious irony?!? I do honestly think there are better moisturisers out there, and at this price you could probably buy several of them. I sadly won't be repurchasing.

I ran out of my normal moisturizer (Devita Solar Protective spf 30) and was being lazy so I just started using the Dermalogica stuff my bf has and I must say this stuff is pretty nifty. I have combo to normal skin and it moisturized it really well, without causing any break outs. I used it at night, after cleansing and toning, and during the day, mixed with some Guerlain fdtn. It plays well with makeup!
I also have eczema and while I'm not sure it helped, it definitely did not make it worse and it kept the flakies at bay. All in all, I'm impressed and I might buy this for myself. I give it four stars only because it's not an HG, miracle worker, the packaging is crappy (tube) and it's really expensive.

THIS IS AMAZING!! It is supposed to be for dry skin, however it's works so well on my combination sensitive skin, which gets the occasional pimple. This doesn't cause any breakouts, balances my skin nicely, and makes it look calm and even. I was initially hesitant to try given that I get a few pimples a month and have an oily t zone (and this is meant to be for really dry skin) , but this doesn't make either worse, and my skin loves it. I have the most sensitive skin, and this works perfectly for me (no irritation finally).
Another huge plus is that it plumps up my skin and makes my acne scarring look heaps better...at first I thought I was imagining things, but even my dad commented on how nice my skin looked!! Maybe I'm just lucky, but I'm in love with this cream for that reason (in addition to the rest lol).
Whenever I run out of this my skin reverts back to it's uneven irritated self, and I always end up quickly repurchasing. It's also really cost effective given that an 100 ml bottle last ages, and therefore works out cheaper that a drug store moisturiser. In Australia it costs just over $100 for 100ml, but over the internet it's about $75, which is great. Anyway, I highly recommend this moisturiser and if you're hesitant to buy, go to your local dermalogica stockist and get some samples.

I'm a huge fan of dermalogica, in recent years it has completely got rid of my spots and made my skin look overall clearer. However, this is the first dermalogica product I've tried that I've hated. Let me start my saying that I break out somewhat easily to most drug store moisturisers, though active moist and skin smoothing cream have been really good. Yet this one broke me out bad within 24 hours. I thought it must have been something else but I have not changed anything else in years, this is the only new product. It consistently gives me full blown white heads on my nose overnight, I've had a new one every morning, 2 this morning! And now after using it for around a week 2 hard cysts formed on my forehead and one on my nostril. It is definitely this product no two ways about it. It made my skin soft but now it's ruined for the next few months while the scars from the cysts heal. Careful if you are acne prone, this did a real number on me in under a day!

I have oily skin and use Dermalogica Active Moist in summer, but this moisturizer is great for my combination skin in winter. Goes on smoothly and feels very soothing. I use it only on my dry patches during the winter months, with Active Moist everywhere else.....Love, love, love it!!

A very good moisturizer for my normal/combination skin with oily t-zone and dry areas. Nice and light consistency, easy to apply, not greasy or sticky, absorbs well and leaves a matte but dewy finish, it hydrates and smoothens the skin. I find it suitable for daytime because it feels light and hydrating! No perfume, so it smells a little weird since there's nothing to camouflage the smell of the ingredients, but it's not a problem for me. Doesn't irritate my sensitive skin. Hate that it contains PARABENS (propyl and methyl), I really want to avoid that in my skin care products! An spf version just a good as this moisturizer would be excellent for summer.

Just one word... AMAZING!!! I had a girly weekend and unfortunatly my friend had got a bit too much sun, her face was peeling awfully and she had forgot her moisturiser. I lent her some of the intensive moisture balance and in the morning all her flakiness had gone! Now i slept in the same room so i know she wasn't scrubbing at it or covered it up. I use it as after Accutane my skin became a bit dry, now i use this my skin has that dewy fresh glow. I would definatly reccomend!
