This is one of the first mascaras I remember using and really loving. I kept a stock pile of these in my "young" stash. This was before the lash primer craze, and I loved how this came with a primer on one end. It really built up my lashes. I still have one of these in the package lying around and I'm excited to see if I still love it. Great mascara.

I have been using this mascara or years now. Sometimes I stray, but I always come back. Here is the key to this mascara - like a wild horse you have to break it in. The first two weeks, you get a 3 lippie product. Thickens and lengthens, but also is clump prone. Oh, but from week 2 till 12 - amazing!
Pros:
- relatively inexpensive
- noticeable, but natural, lengthening and volume
- no flaking
Cons:
- you have to break it in

I'm one of those people who tries new mascaras every time I need a new one. I never really stick to one, at least never one right after another! I tried this through recommendation from a friend and I bought it for about $9.99, which was kind of expensive. I bought the waterproof version.
This mascara is alright, however I've realized that I just hate putting on the white portion. It's just an extra step that takes too much time in the morning so I find I never reach for this. I've tried the black by itself and it's absolutely nothing special.
When you use both ends it does come out looking nice, but I've had mascara where it's much less work to make your eyelashes look great! I think the fact that I bought the waterproof one has a lot to do with how it looks too, it definitely holds a curl which is common with waterproof mascara. I haven't found that this smudges or anything.
This is just kind of a middle of the road mascara for me, it isn't awful, just tedious. It isn't great though.
Wouldn't buy again.

I really like this a lot. makes my eyelashes pop. lengthens them a lot too. it doesn't clump my lashes at all. you have to be good at applying mascara and know what your doing.

I'm a spoilt Diorshow Blackout & Lancome Definicils and Hypnose Drama user. Lancome Hypnose is by far my favorite.
I used L'Oreal Double Extend 505 black today, and here is what I think:
It's not worth the $$ to me. Yes, it does extend the lashes, but the fact that it doesn't spread out evenly, resulting in relatively clumpy, 'spiderleg' lashes makes it reason enough for me to bring it back. It is only like 11 bucks, but I rather spend about 20 or 25 bucks, and have flawless lashes. Even if it is relatively expensive, Dior and Lancome are worth every penny to me. Sorry....

Really good stuff! It makes my eyelashes thick and long. Since I have non existent eyelashes, this product really impressed me. You just have to be careful when you apply it. It doesn't have to be clumpy, but just apply a think layer and it won't be clumpy. It's also HOW you apply the mascara. If you do a zig zag motion on your eyelashes, it will work really well. Overall, I like it but I want to explore other mascaras too.

This mascara is okay. I wouldn't buy it again. It was a little overpriced for what it did. It made my lashes long but clumpy as well. I wouldn't repurchase it.

This product is really great for making thick looking lashes.
But the lashes are hard to seperate and they get a wet, shellacked kind of finish. When you try to take the mascara off, its pretty difficult since you get little latexy like bits that you have to pull off of each eyelash. No of which is my cup of tea.

I would never buy this again. The wand is too close to the cap, so it's hard to angle it properly for application. The primer does nothing to make lashes longer. Nothing. And the worst part are the FLAKES! Huge, uncontrollable FLAKES underneath my eyes at the end of the day. This also made my eyelashes droop. For $10, this is the WORST quality drugstore mascara I've tried in a long time. SAVE YOUR MONEY and spend an extra $10-15 to get a quality product. This mascara is horrible.

I don't have much luck with mascaras as I have hooded eyelids, asian eyelashes and oily skin. EVERYTHING melts off, smudges and transfers. Thankfully, these 'tubing' mascaras do what they're told. They do flake off during the day but it's so tiny that it's still at a better advantage than normal mascara. I get good length from applying the primer and the mascara although it can clump if you're heavy handed. I only wouldn't buy this again since it's so expensive in Australia and I want to try some other tubing mascaras. So far, the Kevyn Aucoin mascara has been the absolute best tubing mascara ever, and this has come second. It's worth a try if you haven't had any luck with normal and waterproof mascaras (waterproof still smudges all over the place with me - i can literally rub my eyes with this mascara and there's no transfering or smudging).

I bought this mascara about a year ago in plain black and didn't like it. I thought it was awkward to use too. After reading someone's review I decided to try it again and found out I really love it but I got Carbon Black this time. Years ago in magazines they used to tell you to powder your eyelashes before applying mascara to thicken and lengthen them. Basically Double Extend is the same idea only it's in a liquid form. I admit the white stuff is weird because it's so hard to see on your lashes. I have to look really close to make sure I apply enough. After applying the mascara I'm amazed at how long my lashes appear and they really fan out. I've learned to do it fast and really considering that many people apply two coats of mascara this doesn't take any longer. I don't think a second coat of mascara is needed since it lengthens so well. I gave it one star less than perfect because the mascara does glob a little bit but that's easily fixed because it's a fairly dry mascara. The only real negative as others point out is that you're getting half a tube of mascara for the same price - actually a bit more - than average drugstore mascaras. Still, I would buy it again because it works well.

I have short, thick, straight eyelashes, so I mainly look for a mascara that can hold a curl, give length, and give moderate volume.
This mascara, unfortunately, is your average mascara, so it doesn't live up to my expectations at all.
It only gives moderate volume and hardly any length and definition. Clumping is definitely a factor, but it doesn't clump as much as other mascaras do.
I found out that the primer (white) side of this mascara does nothing. Typically, eyelash primers are supposed to prep your eyelashes with a bonus of decent volumizing and lengthening. All the primer side did was make my eyelashes turn partially white. It was the black side that did all that moderate volumizing and poor lengthening/definition.
Would I repurchase? No.

I've used this mascara in the past. It lengthens very well & this is a good quality mascara. Using the primer plus the mascara takes too much time for me. This also goes really fast because the tube of mascara is small. I don't use this anymore, I prefer l'oreal's voluminous mascara over this. This is still a good one though, but I love my voluminous so I probably won't ever go back to this.

I'm surprised at the bad reviews on this mascara. Usually, I stick with Chanel Inimitable or a Shiseido, because I love a really smooth mascara that doesn't clump or smear. But, those are ... expensive. Double Extend isn't cheap, but at $10 it looked interesting with the attached primer. Surprisingly, I really like it! No clumps or smears. Of course, I apply slowly and carefully, as I could see how there are sometimes blobs on the brushes that could create stuck lashes. But this mascara lengthens great! I'm not concerned with volumizing. The amount of each product is deceivingly small, as each tube is about half the size of a regular mascara. And I wish they came with the rubbery type wands, as I think those clump less. I'd buy again, especially since drugstores have L'oreal on sale all the time.

I hate this mascara when I use the primer side first but love it if I just use the mascara side. I find using the primer it does clump and give you 'spidery' lashes so just don't use it. What I love about this mascara is that it stays on all I day. I have a bad habit of rubbing my eyes. I could rub all day and this stuff wouldn't come off or smudge. I noticed some people have a hard time taking it off but my face wash works just fine. As far as "extending" I don’t really find any mascara does that well.

I love this mascara. I've been using it on and off for years. The only time I really strayed was when I was using Volume Shocking and I'm STILL upset they discontinued that one. It was FANTASTIC> but since they did, I sampled many others and could not find anything that comes close. But then I remembered that before Volume Shocking, I used Double Extend and now I'm back. I even strayed again to try Benefit's They're Real and guess what? does not compare.
I love this one and hope and pray they don't get rid this one !!!!

This really does lengthen. It does nothing for volume. So, you have to use a separate mascara for volume. Overall, it the primer part does work really well. This can be a great mascara if you know how to use it.

This is not a bad mascara compared to l'oreal voluminous and lash out. What I like about this one is the base coat which make is real easy to add volume to the bottom lashes. Not an exeptional mascara, but still a good one. I got it at big lots for $3 because I really needed a mascara and had just a few dollars in my wallet. I probably wouldn't get it at retail since it is more expensive that my usual l'oreal brands. But it is just an average mascara since all L'oreal mascaras are pretty good quality.

Not a fan. Does nothing for my lashes. Save the extra $4 and just buy the normal L'Oreal Vouminous mascara for $5 instead.
