Oh, how I love this. Kerastase has been around for so long - my Mum was a hairdresser in the 1970's and she remembers this being a very elite line of products and nothing has changed since then.

I currently have very damaged hair. In the last four years I have been switching my hair from platinum blonde to brown; receiving a full-head of foils every month for a year consecutively and straightening once every three days. As a result my hair has thinned dramatically and I have had to cut it very short. My hair is at its worst and my hairdresser says that if I put bleach on my hair one more time, it will all snap off, 100%. Now my hair is back to brown (my natural colour) and I'm getting regular cuts and growing it out again.

This is where Kerastase masquintense comes into play. I've been researching the best products to use on my hair, and this one came up. I can tell you after only two uses of this stuff that it is helping my hair unlike anything else ever has. What I do is I wash my hair with my regular shampoo and then put the masquintense ALL over my hair. I use a fairly large amount and rub it into my scalp and all through the rough, brittle areas of my hair. I put on a disposable plastic shower cap and leave it in for a few hours. Some people say that conditioner works instantly and there's no need to wait, but I'm not sure if I agree with that. After the four hours I hop in the shower and wash it all out. There is no need to apply a regular conditioner after this because this acts as a conditioner as well as a mask. When it's washed out, I let my hair air-dry.

Oh my god! The first time I used this I couldn't believe the condition of my hair. It was so smooth, soft, silky and shiny. It feels as though nothing as little as a hair dryer has ever been in contact with my hair, let alone bleach, peroxide and over 270 degrees heat which I have been exposing it to! I remember going to bed and feeling my hair flopping around at the roots because it was so soft.

Best of all, my hair is NOT greasy or oily and it isn't heavy. My hair, after using this, is purely soft and smooth. I liken it to silk.

I only use this once a week because unfortunately this is very expensive. $70 AUD for a 200ml jar is extremely pricey, but I'm willing to pay that much due to how it leaves my hair feeling.

If you're thinking about buying this, do it. I promise you, your hair will be thanking you after you do it.

One of worse masques I tried.

Pros: Makes hair very soft

Cons: Makes the hair very electrisized looking. Not sure how to explain, but hair looks quite bad in sense that there is lots of hair going in weird shapes and directions. I must use another masque on top of this one or it looks terrible.

I use this masque for 3 weeks already along with Bain Architecte masque (thee green one for damaged hair) and Elixir Ultime masque (the gold one for ultimate shine), I use Masquintense as my daily conditioner and leave it for 5-10mins. And use it once a week for 15-20 mins. Just apply a little amount and rinse it with cold water.

Anyway, my hair was thick, long, fine, sensitized, little split ends, frizzy, and dull.

I think this is one of my HG hair treatment. In just 1 application, it leaves my hair soft, silky smooth, untangled, light-weighted, straight, and I kinda love the soft baby powdery scent! And my hair is getting softer now.

I use this whenever I feel my hair's drying. However, if my hair got damaged cause iron flatting, I definitely goes to Bain Architecte for healthy hair.

I definitely recommend this masque to everyone with normal-dry hair and want their hair silky smooth and light-weighted! Will buy again after runs out.

This hair masque is awesome! This and the Kerastase Oleo-Relax masque are my favorite hair masques. I love the scent of this. I shampoo my hair, towel dry it, leave this product on for 20-30 minutes, and then rinse it out. It makes my hair super soft and really helps with damage. The Oleo-Relax masque helps better with frizz, but this one doesn't weigh my hair down quite as much. I use the Masquintense for thick hair even though I have fine hair, and it works great. I highly recommend this masque.

"First of all any idiot claiming this has protein in it, no, it really doesn't. NONE of the kerastase products use protein, that's redken. Moving on"

From Kerastase's OWN website:

"Proteins: Restore nutrition on the lengths, leaving the hair nourished and steeped in softness"

Those who are incapable of research, should never call those who are, idiots. But, I guess that just goes to show teenagers really don't know everything like they assume. Moving on.

This product works extremely well for me, but I just couldn't get past the fragrance. It's horrible compared to their other products. The Oleo-Relax smells absolutely devine and is a better product all around, but to each their own. As the Bain Satin and Lait Vital carry the same scent, I ended up giving them to my 16-year-old. She wasn't bothered by the fragrance, appreciated the way they worked, and isn't busy on the internet calling people idiots. I couldn't be happier.

First of all any idiot claiming this has protein in it, no, it really doesn't. NONE of the kerastase products use protein, that's redken. Moving on...........I ADORE this hair masque, not only is it a HG of mine, my mother has used this ever since i can remember (early 90's, im 19) and it hasn't changed much, no other masque conditions, detangles, smooths and overall just make's the hair feel like raw silk as much as masquintense does. I have platinum blonde hair that used to be rather fragile, and i definitely credit this for restoring my hair, you would literally think it was virgin hair it blow dry's so beautifully. if your hair is dry/brittle/damaged please use this masque, infact i beg you to use it, after just 1 wash you won't be disappointed.

IT STINKS! smells like INTENSE baby powder or old grandma smell. and just reaks really bad it is so strong. if it had a nice smell like the other types from kerastase i would buy again, in results, it made my hair feel pretty moisturized, i have split end hair all the way up my hair shaft, but the smell is just rank. i'm waiting on the green tub to arrive so i use the pink tub which doesnt restore, just makes it easy to comb. if the green one isnt good, i think i'l stick to morrocan oil, you cant go wrong. just if u use the orange lid mask, that is high in protien so dont overuse.

I was very excited to try this masque. At first it seemed to make my hair feel better but then I noticed some shedding. I did not want to associate it with this product but it only got worse when I started to use on of Kerastase's shampoos which I will do a separate review of. The shampoo had salicylic acid listed as an ingredient and I know that it is usually used on the skin for acne and exfoliating. I did not notice this until later at home. The two products together did not work miracles for my hair and there are surely products that are closer to a miracle than this one was for me. After rinsing the masque out, I needed lots of leave in spray to keep it from feeling so dry. It was not what I expected out of such a pricy masque, so highly reviewed everywhere. I will not repurchase or allow salons to use this in my hair. I do not think it is healthy. One woman in a beauty supply store said, "It's the French way. It looks good at first but is not good for you at all."
I would not recommend this product. I am so surprised because I like the drugstore L'Oreal Evercreme line, haha.

After trying the oleo relax hair mask and the chroma riche mask with great results, the next mask I wanted to try on my dry, frizzy color treated hair was this one.
I left it on for about 5-10 minutes in the shower and found it to be an intensely moisturizing treatment. I didn't love the scent, it's a little bit 'old lady' . It really gives dry hair a nice 'slip' feeling. If you don't wash your hair daily (like me), you may find your hair looking a tad greasy the next day. So, I would really only recommend it as a weekly treatment. All in all, a great deep conditioner, that will help moisturize dry, damaged hair. Very expensive, but worth buying if your hair needs it. For my hair type, I have found the Chroma riche mask to be my favorite.

This is my ultimate hair treatment. I use the one for thick hair, the one for fine hair for me is just like a regular conditioner.
I have extremely long, thick, dry, frizzy dyed,,knotty hair. If I use supermarket ( non salon) shampoos and conditioners my hair is matt and knotty and takes ages to comb through. This treatment is unreal, my comb just glides through my wet hair now. I wash my hair with Bain Satin 2 , towel dry, apply a very small amount of Kereastase, massage through, cover hair in a shower cap or plasticbag, then cover that with a towel and leave for at leasthalf an hour. I always leave for an hour.
I just let my hair dry naturally as it dries so smooth and shiny and smells divine.
Sheer indulgence!

it's a good mask , very nice scent and feels great in first uses.I had been using it for about six months, but in the end really didn;t work out for my hair. It has a lot of protein as other users mentioned and regular use dried my hair. I believe it was a fault of my hairdresser as well who didn't inform me of not using too often . I guess that if it is used not often it will probably give better results longterm. Yet,it's quite expensive and the result for me was not even close to equal to the price, i dont think i would buy again

HOLY GRAIL! I looove this stuff, it's like black magic or something. I use the one for fine hair, even though I have thick hair, just because I find that it works better. Anyway, whenever I use this it's a guaranteed great hair day. It makes my hair come back to life with bounce and shine, and I have thick, dry, damaged hair, so that's not an easy feat. Also, I know these are two points of controversy, but I personally love the powdery smell and the tub packaging. I've never had a problem with the tub in the shower, and for $60 a pop, I want to get every last bit of the product, and the tub lets me do that. This is an amazing product, worth every penny of the exorbitant price. Oh, and I love masque chroma riche also.

I got a free sample of this and i was very excited to try it as i love the oleo relax serum. However i was very dissapointed after first use,i only used the small sachet and my hair looked greasy afterward, especially my fringe. This is highly unusual for me because my hair is very dry and frizzy and never looks greasy. The reason for me giving it a high rating is because after i blowdried my hair it looked so smooth like i had already straightened it! usually its like a bush.I am desperate to try it again and use it just on the midlengths and ends and avoid my fringe. However not sure i want to pay so much for a full sized tub.I am due some extra money soon so i may treat myself. If i use it again will add to my review.

I have naturally curly hair which is prone to frizz. I was recommended this product as my ends are quite dry from when I blow dry and straighten my hair. This makes a huge difference when I wash my hair. It makes my hair feel soft and silky and it makes it controllable. It is fairly expensive- £30 for a tub but he tub lasts a long time. Only use a small amount as I've made the mistake of using too much in the past and my hair looked very greasy so just a coin sized amount.

***Sorry this is so long, the last big paragraph is the most important ***
.
Background:
I am East Asian (Taiwanese) , with lots of thick coarse super poofy and super frizzy dry porous black hair. I'm a junior in college now, and I started to Japanese Straigten my hair every half a year 7th grade, and switch to Japanese Digital perms in 10th grade. Now, because I go to college in the middle of nowhere in the States, I only get a digital perm once a year in the summer right before I go back to school in August. I haven't colored my bra strap length hair in 8 years.
.....
Two months ago, my hair was so poofy that I started to look into hair care. Briefly lurking on the hair board, I found out that Kerastase Masquintense is often recommended so I got myself one to try. Before this, I have been pretty much DS exclusive, with the except of a brief very disappointing stint with L'Occitane Olive Harvest products (helps less with frizz than DS).
.
First impressions was that it was denser and more concentrated than what I am used to. When I blew dry my hair it seemed softer, more moisturized, and weighted down than usual (a good thing in my book), but other than that I wasn't 6 times the price of my usual DS impressed. I used it three more times with the same good but not mind blowing results.
.
The real difference was revealed when I went to get my yearly Digital perm again, but this time the hairdresser messed up big time. I was using a different person from the same salon. By the time she was done, my hair *crackled* when I crunched my curls, and if I ran my finger through my hair, broken half-strands landed on my shoulders. If I took a strand and jerked at it, it would just snap off instead of stretching and bouncing back like it used to. I couldn't wait till my 48h wait was done to put Masquintense on it, and I left it on in a shower cap for at least an hour. I came out, put my usual hair products in, and blew dry, my hair was surprisingly soft again. When I took a strand and jerked, it stretched a little and bounced back!!! (although less than before, which is expected) My hair hasn't fully recovered yet, but this is some crazy miracle worker, and I'm completely 6 times the price SOLD.
.
EDIT:
I also want to say that abdollmohammadi (who wrote the most helpful review) was right! I put a few walnut globs into a spray bottle, added some water, and it was so much easier to apply! I also used around half as much of this masque than I did before with equally good results.

My hair was extremely dry after 4+ years of straightening it using a GHD (200+ degrees) without a heat protectant. Also, for the past year, I had been dying my hair without regular haircuts, so my hair was constantly breaking everytime I brushed my hair and my split ends are horrific.

I use this once a week after shampooing my hair and use a little more than a tablespoon on towel dried hair so that I can coat every single strand. Then I leave it to sit for an hour before washing it out. This product did bring moisture to my hair and it was a noticeable difference after the first use. My hair feels so soft - of course, the split ends are still there so the only way to help your hair to grow healthily is to give it a regular cut.

Downsides - the product cost me about $65 USD off ebay. Also, I don't enjoy the smell, but my boyfriend says he loves it, so each to their own.

I think I would buy it again, but I don't love it enough that it stops me from trying other high end products.

PROTEIN ALERT!!! This is a review for the masquintense for fine hair but I think it applies to the regular product as well. Of course, the product is not labelled with ingredients so you would never know this has protein- but it does and I really wish I has known that before I bought it. I've just wrecked, fried, destroyed 3" or more of my hair by using this product 3 times. I learned that my hair reacts badly to protein by using Joico K-Pak. 3 uses of K-Pak and I lost over 3" or hair due to it being thoroughly fried. After that I have avoided all protein, until apparently now. I wish I could sue L'Oreal and make them pay $1000 per lost inch since they didn't properly label this product. It did exactly the same thing to my hair that K-Pak did- it made most of my hair velvety soft but completely destroyed my ends. When I say destroyed I mean this sucked every once of moisture out of them and turned them into brittle cactus spines. It damaged my hair worse than bleach, much much worse. I'm currently babying my ends with coconut oil to try to salvage some of it but I think it's going to take 3-4" to make my hair normal again. This is a loss of 8 months growth.
So, please learn from my mistake. If you know your hair reacts badly to protein do not buy this product. You'll lose at least $50 and at least 3" of hair.

This is by far the best conditioning treatment my hair had ever experienced. Usually my hair feels all crispy & fried after heat styling and the condition & the dryness gets worse daily until I condition again...a vicious cycle. Well after using this for the first time my hair is so silky and healthy and retains its style, moisture, softness and flexibility like never before! This stuff is absolutely amazing! Expensive but worth every dime. Focus on your lengths & ends when applying this one and I typically leave it on about 15-20 min. Before heat styling I also use Kerastase Ciment Thermique & Fibre Architecte.

This stuff is a life saver! Yea it's expensive but it's beyond worth it. I used to use this as my daily conditioner because my hair is all damaged and frizzy and dry from coloring and it made my hair so healthy! Now I found daily conditioners that works really well too and so I only have to use this once a week or so but anyways it is absolutely incredible and revitalizes my hair but doesn't weigh it down. I really love the smell too. And it's not just a 1 time thing too my hair is like noticeably healthier every time I deep condition with this and I only leave it in for like 10-15 minutes. So yea I love this and yea it's $60 but I would pay anything for this. HG!! <3
