I really don't know what I think about this gel to be honest. I live in Denmark so it's very cold here, especially in the winter time (which was when I started using this) and I don't have oily skin (combination, rather) so it gives me flakiness around my mouth and on my chin that I have to use another moisturizer on to keep at bay. I might just stop using this since I don't know about it keeping my skin clear either; I began using this at the same time as the rest of the Tea Tree line.
I won't be purchasing this again since I'm still looking for my perfect skin care line, and this just wasn't a part of it.

One of the worst day lotions I have ever used. A little went a long way, but it completely dried out my skin and left it irritated and sore. Very disappointed. Lovely, refreshing smell though.

I used to use this gel because of the lack of smell and the whole Body Shop politics. I have combination skin that sometimes breaks out on the T-Zone. After using this I realized that sometimes skin breaks out when it's irritated not only when it's oily. This made me breakout in the normal skin areas of my face, like my cheeks.
I don't think anyone with sensitive skin should use this. There are brands like Avene who make special products for oily/combination sensitive complexions.

For a while I really liked this product. It absorbed fast, you didn't have to apply much, and it smelled nice. But, it didn't really seem to be doing anything for my oily, acne prone skin. I later came to realize that it really doesn't provide any moisture at all. I know gels are supposed to be lighter, but oily skin does need moisture because if your skin is dry your pores will overcompensate by producing more oil. It also doesn't have any SPF in it, which I value in moisturizers.

I used to use this mattifying gel all the time, but now that my skin has changed from oily to combination, I only use this occasionally. As I put this gel on my face, I do notice a slight bit of the mattifying properties, but after about 2 hours my skin seems oilier than ever. I think this stuff just irritates my skin now that I've switched to products that are more gentle. Sigh...another Body Shop product that just isn't cutting it for me anymore.

Really good on acne and has a great powder-matte finish, and works really well with mineral makeup. A great mattifying primer, although my skin does tend to get a bit greasy towards the end of the day.

This is a pretty good product for acne prone skin, at a reasonable price. However, I find my skin to be too dry for it, and it doesn't moisturize enough, at least when I'm at home in Sweden's cold and dry climate.

So, here's the thing with this cream. You can't use it alone because it will NOT provide enough moisture, you'll just end up with encomfortable dry skin. But it clearly states it is lightweight hydration. So use it with a real good moisture cream and problem solved.
This product helped with any pimples I had and redness, which is why I love it so much. I say go for it. Just use it properly and you won;t regret it! I'm defenitely repurchasing

I never use this product alone - if i did my face feels quite taught & uncomfortable.

But I do use this underneath my sunscreen & makeup to keep my skin less greasy during the day. It's great as an oil regulator. Without this on, my foundation slips around with my sunscreen by the end of the day & I'm NOT willing to give up sunscreen for this reason. So I tried this mattifying cream & it works wonders.

Also, less grease means less zits. Yay to that =)

Used this for a while. Like the mattifying, but it really does nothing special for my skin. I think I'll end up swapping this or something :P

I got this in the starter kit and it's not too bad. After I tone my face I apply this and it makes my skin very matte plus it dries very quickly. Although it doesn't prevent my skin from getting oily (there's not much that can anyway) but it's not too bad. It doesn't break me out or irritate my skin since it's very light. It's not a bad moisturizer but I personaly wouldn't repurchase because I'm still in search of a good moisturizer for combination/oily skin.

The best thing about this product is the packaging looks great. I so wanted to like this, I thought it would have been a great moisturizer for my combination skin- (I've got an oily t-zone). I was also hoping it wouldn't be really strong as I have quite sensitive skin Sure, it did stop my face from getting oily BUT it didn't moisturize much. My skin felt really dry and then I'd feel like my face is stinging. The body shop tea tree oil range hasn't worked on me. I don't think I'll be repurchasing.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION: This light moisturizing, non-oily gel disappears into skin to give it moisture where it needs it while controlling shine. Helps to soothe blemishes, leaving the skin feeling fresh and conditioned. For use over the face and neck. Breakouts are minimized with regular use.

MY THOUGHTS: Originally my mom purchased a tube of The Body Shop's Tea Tree Oil Mattifying Moisturizer to treat my dad's rosacea. However, when my puppy demonstrated signs of atopic dermatitis he gave the tube to me to use on my puppy's rashes. Unfortunately, the gel didn't contain enough tea tree oil to treat the secondary bacterial infections, so I placed this tube on the shelf and forgot about it.

Fast forward a few months, I read online that tea tree oil is known for its antiseptic, antifungal and antibacterial properties. So I brought the tube out again to treat my mild acne and blemishes. It was alright, but then I read in Paula Begoun's review that there wasn't sufficient concentrations of tea tree oil in the product to do much. So, I added a few drops of 100% pure tea tree oil to the mixture and noticed a difference. My blemish-prone skin wasn't breaking out anymore. It seemed to work quicker than using Clean & Clear Persa-Gel 5. I also read that dermatologists recommend that people with oily skin should use gel products--cleansers, moisturizers--to prevent clogging pores while those with dry or sensitive skin should use lotions or creams.

Anyway, the moisturizer isn't too moisturizing; however, I simply use it as a medium to spread the tea tree oil on my face. After performing an oil migration test, I discovered this product had a negative result. In this case, the product had contracted 4 mm from its original test size.

PAULA BEGOUN: Average. ($11.50 for 1.7 ounces) temporarily mattifies skin due to its dry-finish silicone base, but unless you're excited about tea tree oil (and there's less than 1% of it in this product), there are more intriguing mattifying products to consider from Smashbox or Clinique.

INGREDIENTS: Water (Solvent/Diluent), Glycerin (Humectant), Dimethicone/Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer (Occlusive), Cyclomethicone (Emollient), Aluminum Starch Octenylsuccinate (Thickening Agent), White Willow (Salix Alba) Extract, Phenoxyethanol (Preservative),Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer (Thickening Agent), Honey (Natural Additive, Melaleuca altemifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf Oil (Natural Additive), C12-14 Pareth-12 (Emulsifier), Acrylamide/Ammonium Acrylate Copolymer (Emulsifier), Methylparaben (Preservative), Salicylic Acid (Exfoliant), Polyisobutene (Thickening Agent), Disodium EDTA (Chelating Agent), Butylparaben (Preservative), Ethylparaben (Preservative), Sodium Hydroxide (pH Adjuster),Limonene (Fragrance), Isobutylparaben (Preservative), Propylparaben (Preservative), Polysorbate 20 (Thickening Agent), Sorbitan Isostearate (Emulsifier), Chlorphenesin (Cosmetic Biocide), Camellia Sinensis Extract (Natural Additive), Benzoic Acid (Preservative).

I began using TBS tea tree line MANY years ago when I first learned of the benefits of tea tree for acne. I've suffered from acne (since puberty) I have super oily sensitive skin with mild, persistant, cystic acne (can't use BP, Retinol or AHAs) and now i'm aging so yes I'm a hot mess . . . anyway, i have nothing but good things to say about this product. It never "cleared" my skin nor was it mattifying for me, but it did not make things worse and is an effective moisturizer. I highly recommend this gel to those who need light moisture and the added benefits of tea tree. I have since moved on to using sulfur and pure tea tree oil along with a natural cleanser and that seems to be working. I still have some of this on hand and use it occassionally in the summer months.

I bought this as part of a starter kit at Body Shop. As a mattifying product, it works for me. I had qualms initially about it since in my experience, most moisturizers leave my face oily, so I usually skip that step altogether. This one was a pleasant surprise for me. It kept my skin soft while my face looked matte for hours. How cool is that! The downside is that it kind of stings my face when I apply it. Not sure if that has happened to other triers of this product. Also a bit on the pricey side considering you'd have to use it everyday.

I bought the whole tea tree line when it was on sale. This moisture gel is pretty good!! It keeps my skin mattifyed and it keeps my breakouts in control. But I won't buy it anymore because I don't have too much problem with acne.
And also, when you use this under a liquid foundation, it's really hard to blend.
Overall, it's a good product if you break out easily.

I really like this moisturizer. It really makes your face matt. i only use this during the day and apply a thick layer because otherwise it's not moisturizing enough. It didn't irritate my skin and i got used to the horribly smell very fast. I switched to this from using proactiv,
it worked great but i didn't want to bleach my face anymore
