Thanks to all the MUAers who inspired me to buy this shade! I can't really add anything that hasn't already been said about this classic, but it has a quality that I really like (though others may not). This color can go on very sheer -very easily. I like that, I can put a wash of color and easily build where I want more, versus trying to apply as little as possible and buffing most of it back off. This makes a beautiful wash of color.

Brun oh brun, where do I begin? I've recently purchased a 15 color mac e/s palette and this is the one color I can't live without, of them all.
Brun is a cool toned (ash/grey) shade which I find difficult to call brown, but well it doesn't come close to any other color so let's just call it brown :).
Excellent color payoff that is buildable, great lasting power and I see no fall out with this.
I apply Artdeco e/s base then MAC PP in Painterly first, then my eyeshadows go on top of that. I use mostly MAC brushes for the whole process.
Brun works well in a myriad of ways: crease color, lid color, outer V, all over (lid+crease+outer V) for a smoky eye, on the lower lash line and for my eyebrows too. Staple. HG. I'd say Brun is the cool toned version of my Bourjois Taupe Essentiel.
Suggested look: Arabic Smoky Eyes
I use Brun as a lid color and on the LLL, Texture in the crease deepened with Brown Script, Carbon on the outer V, Blanc Type as a highlight...and don't forget to add some false lashes ;)

A nice, dark and rich matte brown colour. It has a nice soft finish and it is easy to blend. I used to use carbon to fill in my really dark brows but I felt like it was way too harsh for me. I asked the MUA at MAC what she thought would look good on me and she suggested this. I love it so much, it matches my brows perfectly without making them look too harsh like carbon did. It is also a great colour to deepen the crease of your makeup with or if you want a smokey brown eye look you could use it in the crease. It is a very versatile colour and I'd recommend it to anyone.:)

I've had MAC's Brun e/s for quite some time and use it to fill in my brows every day. The product is rich on colour so you don't need much - I still can't see any sign of the pan :) this is gorgeous in the crease or under the lower lash line if you want to add some drama to the eye. I find there's hardly any fallout with this e/s and doesn't crease up on you. A true 'milk chocolate' brown. Not too deep, nor too reddy.

I use this as an eyeliner and I absolutely love it.
Black isn't my daily choice for eyeliner because I'm pale and it's too dramatic for daytime, so I tend to lean towards different shades of brown (MAC Embark or Handwritten (slight plummy undertones), TM definer in dark brown), BB Espresso.
Brun is a bit lighter than the colors listed above. It's a perfect straight up dark brown color that really enhances the green in my blue-green eyes. . I don't detect any red or purple undertones in this.

This is an absolute staple for me on the crease, it matches with so many different lid colours, and just finishes off any look perfectly. Brun is so deeply pigmented- its what I thought Espresso was going to be. I use it pretty much every single day. It should be in everybody's palette!

Great to fill in brows with a slanted brush. As an olive-toned person with dark hair and very sparse brows, brun fills it in and the grey-brown hue looks more natural than anything else I've tried. Has great staying power whether I'm applying it alone or over foundation.

I have very dark brown hair so my eyebrows are just equally dark. This eyeshadow is perfect to fill them in with. It is a satin but when applied it looks matte. I highly recommend for anyone who has almost black brows!

I have light brown eyes and black hair. My eye brows are brown. My skin tone is NC35 but not quite as yellow. Brown eye shadows make my eyes extremely tired and sick looking. This is the ONLY brown shadow that looks great on me. I love this with black liner. I will never buy another brown shadow. I am hoping that MAC does not discontinue this. Great shade.

LOVE this shadow! Its perfect if you want to wear something subtle for the day time as sometimes black can be a bit much.
I use the product on my brows mostly. I find it looks more natural then a brow crayon.

This is my favorite dark brown... I find that because it is a cooler brown I can use it with more looks, especially if I want to substitute a brown for black -- to make it more day friendly. I am blonde so I can't really comment on its use for brows but I do know that it makes for an AWESOME crease and outer V color. Check out my blog for pics:

This is my favorite dark brown color and it is cool enough to use on my brows! I am an asian with very dark brown/black hair (not jet black) and this works very well for my brow color. For a more natural look I'll use Coquette but I find that the pigmentation is much much better on this shadow, not because this color is darker, but Coquette doesn't seem to swatch very well. This is harder for me to pull off without eyeliner just because my normal brow hairs are very light and sparse, but if I want to use this, I can put it on and just brush it out with a brow comb to soften it up, and that makes it wearable. Helps to make my brows very defined.

This is one of my favorite eyeshadows, hands down. It's a matte cool-toned blackened brown. It's not a unique shade, but it IS very versatile. I use this everyday for my eyebrows as every single eyebrow product I try is either too light, too red, or, more often than not, both. I do have black eyebrows, but you should never use black products on black eyebrows! This eyeshadow is cool-toned, so that's what makes it match my eyebrows.
I also use Brun as an outer lid shade as well. I can apply it lightly for a more neutral look, pack it on for a dramatic look, or apply it with the MAC 219 brush for a sultry smoky eye (this is my go-to shade for the classic dark brown smokey eye). It's a little bit more difficult to apply it lightly, since it's such a pigmented eyeshadow, but it's definitely possible.
The texture is very smooth--not chalky at all!
Would I repurchase? Yes.

I find it very hard to work with this e/s. I love the color. It's close to my hair/eye color and complements me very well, especially if i wear something brown also. If I want to wear it as a lid color I need to use a soft pearly slightly lighter brown/taupe underneath (like the taupe I have in the NYX smokey eye palette) otherwise I can't blend it. I've give up using it as a crease color and I'm very upset about it. It would be awesome with Omega for example, but they just don't blend well together. It ends up a muddy mess. My Ulta Gold dust works better for that, though it's not matte and not as dark. I would not buy it again but maybe look for a better quality Inglot one.

I'm sure this colour would look great on if I could actually get it onto my brush. It seems like I have to work too hard to get any colour pay off with this and practically have to dig the colour out.
The only thing you could actually use this for is brows as the colour is fantastic for black eyebrows and the stiff eyebrow brush helps get some product out.
I really love the colour but MAC need to work on the formula for this one.

I love this color. It is so versatile. You can use it for a smokey eye when you really don't it to look harsh (as with black eyeshadow) or use a fluffy blending brush for just hint of color. I love the fact that it's a satin finish and not matte because it gives it great dimention. It's also a good value for what you pay because it isn't TOO expensive and they last you years.

Perfect brow colour for me - I have dyed black hair and feel like co-ordinating eyebrows would be a bit too much for my fair complexion. This is dark enough to fit with my hair but not too dark that it looks stark against my skin.
Also a perfect crease colour, blended out with wedge & swept under the eye, with shroom or vanilla on the lid and some winged liner is my go to neutral eye.
Would purchase again and again!

Try tro find "the perfect" Brown eyeshadow. There are a million shades of brown moving in the cool and warm directions. Brun is the most perfect Brown eyeshabow there is, PERIOD. It has no red or orange in it. It's not so cool as to appear ashey or greyed (which is an achievement in itself.) It's as matte as can be. It makes a perfect eyeliner shade w/the proper brush. ONCE AGAIN WE HAVE A MAC "CLASSIC" here also w/a "cult" following. This IS A must have for a makeup artist or regular person, period. If you have black you must also have brown. A beautiful brown shadow if ever there was one.
