I took one lippie off because the packaging is annoying--sure the glass bottle looks cool, sorta like a little inkwell, but I foresee difficulty in getting the last bits of product out. Plus, this is freakin' E-X-P-E-N-S-I-V-E at 27 USD, not including tax.

The color is a deep, shimmering blackened olive--the kind of color I gravitate towards. It's definitely a dark olive, not black; if you smear it on the back of your hand, the color is unmistakable. I should add that I also have mark's hook-up liquid liner in "Nefertiti" and Urban Decay's liquid liner in "Smog" and if you have either of these two, you don't really need "Equus". Nefertiti and Smog are both a bit lighter and greener, but the first is more of a cooler green, whilst the second is more of an olivey, smut-green.

I didn't have too much trouble using this. I just dipped the included itty bitty liner brush into the bottle, wiped off the excess on the rim, and had enough to do one eye. I find the separate brush + liner work better for me (as opposed to a pen-style liquid liner) as I can control the amount I get on the brush. The liner brush does a pretty good job, but it is very stiff and pointy and scratches me as I use it--it's unpleasant enough that I'll be trying to find an alternative soon.

Lasted all day without smearing or fading and washed off easily enough at night. It is very expensive, as I said earlier, but the color is really lovely and neutral, the bottle will last for a long time, plus, an e-GC to beauty.com + free shipping = I only paid 7 USD for it! I might be interested in trying other colors, but that will depend on how indulgent I am feeling.

Finally getting around to writing a review of one of my favorite products - NARS liquid eyeliners! Thought gel eyeliners (MAC & Bobbi Brown) were great, until I tried these! They aren't actually true liquid, they're a gel in liquid form. Easy to use and truly do not budge until you remove them. Equus is a beautiful black base with gold flecks and a staple. Photo in my profile.

I love NARS Liquid Eyeliners and Equus is no exception. This is a gold-infused black that is easy to wear with a lot of the e/s colors in my stash. The packaging pretty much sucks, but I’ve come to grips with that. I usually dip the end of a skinny brush into the bottle and dip my brush into the product on the end of the handle. This way I can use an angled liner brush, a rounded or pointed fine liner brush or a push brush to apply the product. It’s wasteful for sure, but there is quite a bit of product in the bottle that I’m not too worried about it. As with all NARS liquid liners, the color payoff is great and the staying power is the best I’ve tried!

my feeling towards NARS e/l is always mixed. I hate its price yet love all colors which seem so complicated and shimmery. Imagine Stila's Holy Golightly and La Doulce mixed together, then you got Equus. It's very flattering to my FFF-GGG skin (NC30) and great staying power for summer. I give it a 5 for its color, but be ware it burns a little on the eyelids and watch out if you have sensitive eyes or skin. I have no pb with it at all and the burning feeling is what I bear for a great perfect e/l. All in all, will keep collecting NARS e/l...

It should be "Equus". But anyways, I was sooo disappointed with this product! I wanted to love it, cuz the raves and it's really a beautiful shade. The SA described it as a "seaweed" shade, dark green with golden and bronze shimmers. But this eyeliner is hard to apply (with the tiny brush that comes in) and the shimmers or glitters made this eyeliner hard to apply. Especially on my lower lashline, it just impossible to get a uniformly straight line. The shimmers/glitters clum together, and it doesn't last more than 1 minute on my lower lashline. I'm going to return it. =(

Beautiful color! Very unusual, it's a combo of gold, green, black, brown with a shimmer. I love liquid eyeliner, it does not smudge at all, I ran my finger through it and it did'nt move. The only bad thing is it seems fade a bit fast and it's very expensive. Otherwise, I love it and I love NARS liquid eyeliners!

I love this shade, very subtle dark greenish/gold/brown. It dries fast and stays put. My only problem with it is the applicator, the brush is very small which makes it a little difficult to apply. Still a great product though.

A gorgeous golden dark green with just a touch of shimmer. It lasts a long time!..very unique colour, and the bottle (which is glass, which i don't enjoy due to the fragile nature and lack of portability) will last a LONG TIME.

A bit similar to the Kyoto pencil and one of the Night shadows in olive green-gold, this is a gorgeous shade. I suppose it all depends on the effect you want to pull off, as you could go cheap with the pencil, or a bit more with the eyeshadow (Night Porter?), or go for this and create exquistely thin or artistic lines across your lids. I agree - BB's fine eyeliner brush does the trick best with this stuff which will probably last my whole lifetime which means I won't even need to repurchase this, ever. This is like a beautiful golden-olive sheen over a black-olive base.

UPDATE (11/04/03):

I've developed a nasty allergy to these liquid liners which some MUAers have experienced - a burning sensation on the eyelid. I told the Nars MA about it and, we tried to narrow down if it was because it was a)OLD, b)certain colors only c)really, just a newly developed allergy. So we tried most colors of new stock and they all burned. Unfortunately, there must be an ingredient that I'm now rejecting by sending burning senstation feelers to my brain. If you've not tried these yet, I would definitely suggest a trial first.

Oh, this is so beautiful. This appears to me as a shimmery antique bronze-green. Not quite as green as Sri Lanka, more gold-based and olive. Beautiful, and so sophisticated.

I dont see any green in this shade at all. Equus to me is a light black/dark grey with gold undertones and shimmer. Very pretty shade on. I like to use it when black is just a little to harsh! Lasts all day and the pricey $27 will last you forever!

How do I love the Nars. Let me count the ways. I must admit, I scoffed at the steep price when these liners were first introduced, but I must tell you, they last an incredibly long time (you get a ton of product) and the color selection is out of this world. Eqqus is no exception. I could hug Francois for this color! It is a deep shimmery olive green. Absolutely gorgeous, long lasting, and very easy to apply.
