I do like this, and the smell disappears after your hair dries. It does smell like some old perfume though lol.
Anyway, I dried my hair maybe 50%, and then sprayed this around the crown of my hair. I didnt go crazy with it. I truly felt it gave my hair some bounce.I am not sure if there is anything that will make your hair huge on its on without teasing lol, but this sure did help, and I didnt have that dreaded sticky coated feeling left on my hair like every volume product gives. I dont understand why most volumizing products are made to coat your hair to make each strand feel thicker. I mean, yes, that makes sense, but if your fine hairs are weighed down because they are loaded and coated with gross build up, then its still gonna be flat on top!! who cares about making each strand thicker, just give me some bounce and volume at my root please. lol. I loved it though because I felt like when I curled my side fringe, it really held good and I looked like I had that volume shiny bouncy hair.
I do think that your shampoo is extremely important though when it comes to volume and styling your hair. I just recently bought a lot of phyto shampoos to test, and I loved phytopanama last week, and this week I just used phytodensium, which gave more bounce than panama. But BOTH left my scalp clean and my hair shiny. The phytodensium just gave me a tad more bounce. but I will still use them both. I think this phyto line is truly amazing. I cannot wait to test the rest of the shampoos I got. I am testing them, one week at a time, to see how and if they build up on hair, and how they affect styling over a week.

This is great if I only use it (and their volumizing shampoo) every so often. It's like it completely ceases to work if I use it every time after I wash my hair. When it does work, it gives tremendous body, but it also makes my roots a little sticky (my husband says a lot sticky).

I have tried a ton of volume products because I have Lupus, which equals thinning hair. This product has helped give me back the volume I lost. I would advise anyone who has thin hair to give this a try. It helped me, so it may help you.

I'm on my 3rd bottle. I LOVE this stuff. It really gives me believable volume. To use, I just put some spritzes (the packaging is great) into the roots of my damp hair and blowdry with my hair flipped over. This stuff is AWESOME and lasts forever. I use about 3-4 times a week and a bottle easily lasts me 6 months. I really can't believe the low ratings!!!

To start off w/ a background of my hair....I have been having issues with my hair since moving to a house with a well and not sure if it's 100% the well, or the stress caused at the same time of the move...But I have noticed thinning and I already have fine hair. I use to have a TON of fine hair...now I notice that I can't even keep hair spray staying in my hair. It's so odd and it's been driving me nuts. I've tried countless products and I've spent so much $$ I don't even like to think about it. But I saw good reviews on this spray and I only used it once yesterday, but I could not wait to post a review. I am SO happy with it!!! Highly recommend atleast trying it. I used this, followed by Bumble & Bumble undressing texture cream. I was so impressed.

This might be a premature review but I am really enjoying this product! I got it earlier this week after my hair stylist used it on me. It's really great for given a lift in the front so your hair doesn't just lay flat on your forehead (a look I sported in High School when I was insecure about forehead blemishes...my mom hated it). I let my hair go for about 3 days and it still had that lift from the first day. I used it in my hair wet and then blew my hair dry upside down for some extra volume and brushed out the product so it wasn't crispy (I cannot stand crispiness in a hair product...it irks me to no end). I also went back when my hair was dry and sprayed a little more just from some more oomph in the front...and no crisp was to be found! I was very pleased. I have little basis for comparison for this product as I have only used one other root-lifter...the John Frieda Root Lifting Spray. But that product didn't do a thing for my hair. At all. So this is pretty fantastic in comparison and independently. It is pricey, I believe I paid about 27 dollars for the bottle and I will have to wait and see how far this bottle goes. But so far, so good!

Phytovolume Actif Volumizing Spray = fail.
I have long, straight, fine, blonde hair with layers throughout and around my face. This stuff did not add any volume whatsoever. I might have had volume for 10 minutes, but then everything flopped.
I tried it for 2 weeks, every time I washed my hair and on other days. I used it on almost dry, as a styling product on dry hair the next day, roots, all over. It did nothing. I don't get the hype.... And I, for one, didn't actually mind the smell!
It's hard core and takes some practice, but if you want real volume try TiGi catwalk fashionista big and bigger foam. Now that is what I call volume.

I have such fine hair...and now its thinning too. This spray-in volumizer is the best product I have used to add body to my hair. And I have tried them all...high-end products and drugstore products. No shampoo, conditioner, or mousse can do for my hair body-wise what this does. All day long and until I wash it out the next morning this stuff really gives my hair fullness. The only downsides are the smell (ick!) and the cost. But it works and so it is my HG hair product for volume/body.

Ok, I finally figured out the secret to this product. This doesn't work that well on wet, freshly washed hair. The secret is to use your regularly products on wet/freshly washed hair for volume (I use kerastase volumactive mousse) ..and on non wash days..after dry shampooing...spray this into your crown/roots...grab a blowdryer and round brush..and for a minute add some heat while lifting your crown with the round brush and wah-la...you get loads of volume that lasts all day. this is something i recently discovered after using this product randomly throughout the years...this is the only way it really works.

I'm shocked by the low rating on this product. After an awful experience at a salon, I lost about 40% of my hair. I'm in the process of trying to grow it back, and this stuff has been amazing. I spray it mainly on my roots, and it gives incredible lift and volume. Yes, it's quite pricey, but it's worth it.
I use it after I towel dry. I only need about five pumps. Great stuff, just rebought it. Only problem is that when I don't use it for a while, the pump gets clogged.

I have very fine thin hair. After I dry my hair I put it in velcro rollers for volume. After I put in the rollers in I spray them with the Phyto and then hold my blow-dryer on them for a few seconds. I let them sit for five minutes and then take them out. My hair has volume all day. It's great.

I've tried numerous volumizing sprays, mousses, gels, etc. and this one is probably the best so far. I'm sure this is not the best volumizer out there, but I will use it until I come across a superior product. I have thin hair that's usually lifeless and limp by mid day. With this product I can make it till the end of the day without having to find a pony tail holder. The bottle is pretty small so that's why I gave it a 3 for packaging quality. It doesn't smell great but the scent disappears when hair is dry. This product is definitely worth a try.

I bought this product as i saw it won a quite a no. of award. But to my disappointment, its volumizing effect arent that great, and don't last long. The LOreal mousse effect is actually better.
But if you looking for something not messy (like mouses and clay) and wont not make your hair too stiff (like hair spray or wax), i think this product is the one.

I bought this after reading the rave reviews prior to March of 08'. I agree totally with the previous few reviewers about this product. I have fine, thinning hair and this did absolutely NOTHING. I gave it 6-7 different tries and still had the same result. My hair felt like I used nothing at all!! As far as the smell it's due to all the alcohol that's in the product and that's what's irritating the others scalps. It reminds me of the what the old hairsprays were like that my grandmom used! Thankfully I didnt spent too much on this as I bought it on ebay but still at $17 with the shipping it's a waste of money. DON'T BUY THIS AWFUL PRODUCT!

SAVE YOUR MONEY. This product is ridiculously expensive. But I had a gift card for Sephora and they assured me it was great. I can't even tell you what a crappy volumizer this is. It does literally nothing except smell bad. My hair had no volume after using it and was a staticky mess. You'll get better results from Garnier XXL mousse for $2.99. This stuff is almost $30! What crap.

I got this product for free in a gift bag, and was excited to try it since it gets such great reviews in magazines and has won many awards.
This product is awful. It made my hair lifeless, I usually have decent body, but I wanted to give it some more volume and intensify the body.
I have used this product twice. THe first time, it irritated my scalp - so I don't recommend spraying it too close to the roots. But then again, I don't recommend it at all.
Maybe this requires a stylist to apply and style correctly - who knows. I'm mystified by the rave editorial reviews in magazines.

I heard great stuff about this and thought it would be great for my fine hair. I returned it this weekend. It wasn't bad but it wasn't good either. It really didn't add any volume...it appeared to add some shine and my hair appeared healthy but no volume. The smell is very bad. I am surprised and a bit worried that at some point along the way, somebody okay'd that horrible smell and sent it off to production. OLD LADY is a good description of it....which is actually not fair to any old ladies because I am sure they smell better than this product.

I purchased this after reading an article that Ken Paves uses this on Jessica Simpson's hair to give her that sexy volume. I had pretty high expectations of this product and although it wasn't awful, I didn't notice any outstanding results. It did seem to add a bit of volume to my hair but I have better results with B&B's Thickening Spray. The smell to me was actually pretty neutral and pleasant-- kind of a light herbal smell. The only thing that probably is stopping me from trying this product again is the hefty price tag. For the price of this, I'd rather try something else. Not awful, but not the best.

I think this gave my fine hair a lot of volume, but the smell is horrible. I wouldn't buy this product again, since the price is so high and it smells like garbage. I also think it made my hair feel like straw.
