This little beauty of a palette is a gift from the Urban Decay gods! It's absolutely my go-to for when I go out and need a sultry, smoldering, sexy eye. Or a "slutty" eye as one of my friends so delicately put it, haha!
I'm an avid fan of UD's Naked palette and I found myself using it a lot for when I go out. But, sadly, the Naked palette only can go so far with smoky looks. Voila! As if the magicians at Urban Decay were listening to me, out comes Smoked! While I'm a seasoned veteran when it comes to application and blending, I still found the look book to be informative and helpful. For newbies, I'd say start slow. Use the booklet for tips, it's almost obsessively detailed step-by-step instructions. The very back also has some awesome explanations on terms and application techniques.
The colors are wonderful. The neutrals are a dream for brow bone color and base. The matte brown and black are phenomenal crease colors. They blend beautifully. I'm more of a neutrals fan, so I haven't used the jewel tones as much. But I will say that Rockstar is a gorgeous purple that will look amazing on brown and green eyes! I was really disappointed with how Loaded applied to my lid, though. I had to wet my brush to get the deep green tone (and I was using UD's shadow brush, which is a great densely packed brush for shadows). Haven't used Evidence yet but then again I'm not a big blue fan. Might be nice as a liner? Asphalt is great on its own, same with Backdoor. The 24/7 liner is wonderful to use on the waterline, but I prefer my gel liner pot to line my top lid. I feel that the 24/7 liner gets too heavy. The primer is always top notch for UD as well.
But, like some users said, UD has a bad reputation for having bad fall-out with its shadows. I don't know why they haven't reformulated their shadows because I feel like UD is becoming notorious for this! Just have a large, fluffy brush handy to swipe away anything on your cheeks. But, overall, whether you're a newbie or a seasoned pro, if you love that smoky look, you'll love Smoked.

As someone who uses a lot of black and smokey looks I knew I just had to get this palette. The colours are really gorgeous and I love the bonus eye primer and eyeliner included in the package. Definitely a palette worth having in one's collection!
Age: 19-24 Skin: Combination, Fair Hair: Brunette Eyes: Hazel
love the packaging of this and the amazing quality of the shadows. urban decay really nail it when it comes to eyeshadows. 'evidence' is the only colour that let's me down though, it just doesn't seem to pick up and it can be really patchy. i don't wear blues though so i'm not that upset. I love the matte dark brown 'backdoor', I use it on my brows as it is the exact same colour as my hairs.
Age: 30-35 Skin: Combination, Fair, Warm Hair: Black, Straight, Fine Eyes: Blue
really like this palette, makes a change from the neutral naked palettes out there. love the little booklet that comes with it with guides for creating different looks, very inspiring for beginners and experienced makeup people alike!
Age: 25-29 Skin: Combination, Fair-Medium Hair: Black Eyes: Brown
Amazing palette. Colors are deep and dark. Even the gemstone colored ones go on your eye with a deep dark finish. It is my first eyeshadow palette ever, and definitely a worthy investment! I love coming up with shadow combos everyday! Very long lasting and smooth to apply. This has changed my life and I am so incredibly happy with it.
Age: 25-29 Skin: Dry, Fair-Medium Hair: Black, Straight, Medium Eyes: Brown
1. the variety of "black-undertone" colors make it easier to create variety of Smokey-eye makeup
2. The color last long and did not smudge easily
1. the color tend to fall down to the cheek, hence may make the application to be a little bit messy. To overcome, tap the color from your shadow brush before applying it onto the lid.
Age: 19-24 Skin: Combination, Fair, Cool Hair: Brunette, Wavy, Medium Eyes: Blue
While this palette is not one I would ever recommend for simple or neutral looks, I do have to say all of the colors are beautiful and of great quality, and for that, this palette is a very fine supplement to any eyeshadow collection. Loaded, Evidence, and Mushroom are among my favorite eyeshadow colors of all time.

excellent palette, exquisite looks, useful booklet - UD has done it again:)!
Age: 25-29 Skin: Combination, Fair-Medium Hair: Black Eyes: Brown
This is a very good pallet! You can create both an elaborate smokey eye or a very natural everyday look.the key is applying with the perfect brushes. Very very pigmented!
Age: 30-35 Skin: Combination, Fair-Medium, Warm Hair: Black, Straight, Fine Eyes: Black
I love this palette! Great for creating smokey eyes but versatile enough to tone it down to create everyday looks. It comes with a handy make-up guide that features several drawings with directions on how to create different looks using the different eyeshadows.
The colors are rich and buttery and very easy to blend. One thing I would have loved is for them to have included a shimmery base color since the 2 base colors are both somewhat matte. The rest of the shades are more metallic. It also comes with a 24/7 pencil in Perversion which has very good staying power, as well as a mini size of the Primer Potion which can come in handy during travelling. So far, I've created a couple of looks using different shadow combinations and I have gotten compliments to each and every one. The packaging is somewhat bulky in the sense that it's not a flat palette but it's compact enough and secure in its little zippered pouch. Over-all another great palette from Urban Decay!

Merry Christmas to me. My fiance', determined to maintain his status as the most phenomenal member of the human race, included the Smoked palette with his many gifts, and between it and my Real Techniques brush sets, I couldn't be flying much higher. (To be fair, he did go on his sister's suggestion, so she gets props, too.) I've had a chance to rock three looks--Cat Eye, Sculpted, and Midnight, from the enclosed booklet--and they were all winners, even on my puffy, cold-ridden, sleep-deprived eyes: dramatic, but not so deranged that I risked becoming the next Person of Wal-Mart. The collection features two base colours plus an octet of neutrals and blackened brights, each with a somewhat muted quality that renders even the intimidating choices (Rockstar, Evidence, and Loaded) gentler and more flattering than they have any business being. Both the mattes and the shimmers have a buttery texture that responds beautifully to most application and blending techniques, and though Asphalt, Mushroom, and Evidence did show a few signs of wear after six to eight hours of whatever I was doing, I have the oiliest eyelids ever so I didn't get too busted up about it. The included pencil, Perversion, is neck and neck with the majorly cheap Essence I <3 Rock gloss pencil as my HG black liner, so I was pleased to welcome another to my makeup drawer. In fact, if you were to cop one thing from this whole kit, I'd reccommend the pencil; it delivers a line as black as deep space in a single, unforced stroke, and inks out the waterline with little more effort. Overall, I can't say that I look forward to my future with Smoked as much as I do my future with Paul, but I forsee us having loads and loads of fun together.

Great palette! The colours are buttery, pigmented and easy to blend. The colour selection is wonderful and I enjoy the fact you can produce both a subtle and dramatic look from the collection. The packaging is pretty good and I loved the addition of the 24/7 eye liner and the how to book.
Age: 25-29 Skin: Acne-prone, Fair, Cool Hair: Brunette, Wavy, Coarse Eyes: Blue
These are great colors for all occasions. Both subtle and dramatic looks can be easily created. The pencil is a nice bonus. All shades are well pigmented. I would have preferred the palette to also include a light silvery-shimmery shade. Also, a plastic box would have been better than this cardboard. Overall, I am really happy with this!

I'm an eyeshadow freak but not one of those people who buy every Urban Decay palette available so it's saying a lot. I bought this on a whim and I'm so glad I did. It's a very versatible palette and all the shades are smooth and pigmented. There's a matte highlighter, matte dark brown that is perfect for the outer corners, and even a matte black eyeshadow. There's shimmery neutrals and your darker smokey colors. You can do a lot with this palette alone. I won't go into all the colors but I am surprised at how good they look on my NC40-42 skin. I usually do not like taupes (they unfortunately look like death on me) but mushroom is beautiful on me. My only real disappointment is in the green shade. It looks so gorgeous in the pan but looks like a shimmery black on me. =( Usually I feel the need to take 2-3 palettes and several singles on a trip (yeah I know that's crazy) but I can now get away with only bringing this palette. I dislike the perversion eyeliner..it's very black and smooth but has no lasting power at all but no real complaints about the eyeshadows. I highly recommend this especially if you're around my shade. It's worth your money.

I have a confession. I am about as far off the spectrum of a typical Urban Decay user or their targeted market as one can get. I am older than Iím comfortable admitting. I have never been hip, more like the pretty girl next door. I would be the nerd in the beginning of those transformation videos and end up rockiní a look worthy of the Urban Decay name. I do love watching videos of those you who can and do rock the smokiní eye. I just canít (or donít have the confidence to) wear them myself. I also LOVE this palette! On me and for my lifestyle, I prefer the Bobbi Brown look. I own countless of her palettes, LORAC, Tarte, Lancome and others. All have failed to look attractive on me - or my skills (more like a lack thereof) have led to their failure. Bobbi Brownís mattes and shimmers end up looking dry and powdery on me, even with primer. Tarte shadows irritate my eyes and the deep colors end up looking black and spotty. LORAC turns orange on my lids. Enter Urban Decay. In my wildest imagination I would never have thought of Urban Decay for mattes, flattering shimmers and great subtle looks. Sure they are the brand with the cult status Naked palettes, but most of the videos/reviews with these palettes (that I had seen) focused on the high shimmer/glitter and smokey looks. During a late night random search I came upon a review which mentioned how wonderful Urban Decay mattes and shimmer shades were. This blogger mentioned that the most of the shadows in the Naked and Naked 2 palettes were surprisingly friendly to aging lids. Hmm, off to Sephora and the Urban Decay websites for more reviews. Hmm, the quality of the mattes are mentioned frequently. What does this have to do with the Smoked palette? Well, it explains why someone like me would love this palette so much. Okay, cover your eyes. *whispers* I use the Smoked palette to do the most incredible clean, matte eye. With a splash of color that I love! Urban Decay has what Iíve been searching for. With the Smoked Palette I can use UDPP, Kinky from lash to brow as a base, Mushroom lightly all over the lid and slightly in the crease, and one of the deeper colors to line. I can also use UDPP and the base of Kinky, with Freestyle to subtly define my crease and a thicker line of a color (today itís Loaded) along my lashes. I can also use that same base of UDPP and Kinky and incorporate the Naked 2 by using Tease in the crease and a touch of BootyCall on the lid, and again one of the darker shades to line. Crazy as it may sound, this is perhaps the one palette Iíd take on a cruise or desert island. Of course, once the Naked Basics is released tomorrow that my change. I wouldnít NOT bring Smoked, but I would bring Naked Basics as well.

I do really like this palette but I wouldn't say it's my go-to one. The colours are very pigmented and true to what they look like in the pan (except some of the brighter looking ones appear slightly darker for me) and they apply beautifully but I do usually need to use other products with it to get a look that I feel comfortable wearing. I have done looks with just this palette but they're only really when I'm feeling particularly daring, but if that's your style then go ahead and make the purchase!
Also I really, really love the packaging. It's a zip up palette which I've never seen before and it's a really cute idea. I love it.
I do really love this palette but I don't think it's quite enough to use on its own. I don't think I'd repurchase but at the same time it's not something I regret buying.

This is the only palette I'm currently using, I think that says a lot. The colours are perfect for really neutral daytime looks, and really dramatic night time looks so I couldn't be happier with the selection of eyeshadow colours and textures in this palette. All eyeshadows are pigmented (the two lightest mattes slightly less so), soft, easy to apply and blend and stay on well. I find that Mushroom sometimes creases even with UDPP, but then I have very very oily lids. I'd say my favourite shades are Rockstar and Backdoor but I do like and wear them all lots.
As for the other things that come with the palette - I used to have problems with Perversion but now that I've learned to work it better it's really great. (Contact lense wearers beware, though!!) I would have preferred if the palette came without the eyeliner though, because I already owned it and didn't necessarily need another one. It IS very black and smooth and stays on reasonably well, but it's nothing mind-blowingly awesome in my opinion. Primer Potion is a staple in my makeup bag so I didn't mind getting a small tube of that, and I absolutely LOVE the look book. It's so great for getting inspiration and tips on how to use the colours in this palette.
All in all, as I use this palette almost every time I need eyeshadows, it was definitely worth buying and I've been very happy with it.

Beautiful palette. It was my first Urban Decay product, too! It also came with a free primer sample, which is nice because I've been wanting to try their primer potion too. ALSO comes with a 24/7 pencil in black (I think the name of it is Perversion) which is so black that I laid it down real heavy the first time...talk about raccoon eyes!
This palette is pretty wonderful. The two fleshy tone colors are perfect for highlight, and the other colors are so smokey and wonderful. I can't stop wearing smokey eyes now!
Age: 36-43 Skin: Combination, Tan, Warm Hair: Black, Straight Eyes: Black
Trumpet sound please! This palette is fan-tas-tic. The colours are absolutely superb. Not just the quality and staying power but also very blendable and simply put all colours just looks amazing. What I find is you need a little bit of the eye shadow to do a full lid. And the colours? Listen, Mushroom, Backdoor, Asphalt and of course Blackout are my absolute favourites! What would have been perfect if there would have been a similar colour to Bootycall (from NP2) in this palette. This because I love a glowing colour in my inner corner. Blackout is my absolute all time favourite black eyeshadow out there, Carbon who?! Blackout is pure blackness, so stunning. Mushroom is divine. Backdoor is elegant. What I love is that yes you can combine all colours but I'm more than happy to wear the colours on their own. I'm reaching for this palette every day and get excited when it's "make up time". I am a loooong time user of the Primer Potion so a new one is always welcome. The full size perversion eyeliner is fantastic, blendable and extreme staying power. So, not sure what else I can say. Just go and get your palette !!

What an absolutely fantastic palette! I've only purchased it about a week ago, but been reaching for it every single day. Though it was made for "smokey" looks, you can also use this palette to create more subtle, work appropriate eyes as well. Strongly recommended, though I feel it's a bit pricey. Favorite shades in the palette are mushroom (gorgeous taupe), evidence (probably my favorite blue in my collection), and loaded (blackened green). I also feel that the perversion eyeliner is amazing, I don't have anything else that goes on with such intense black pigmentation so it's perfect as a base under the smokey looks! I think everyone should go and check this out.
