Even though not many people like this product, I reckon it's an excellent base and top coat. The price is cheaper than OPI but it really does the job. When it applies as base, my nail polish goes on smoother and it prevents my nails from staining. As top coat it makes my nails look glossy and i find if i re-apply it every day, my polish stays longer without chipping that easily. Overall a good value, quality product. I would definitely re-purchase.

I don't use this as a base and top coat. I use it for top coat only. Its just 'Ok', i believe there are much better products out there. Revlon base gel coat is my go to, and after this bottle is done I plan to try the revlon gel top coat, or maybe another Essie top coat. My nails are pretty short and i like this because it dries quickly, but my nail polish only lasts 1-3 days. this may just be my lot in life, but I'm hopeful another top coat will help.

Horrible top coat. As a base, its okay, but top coat is more important to me. The top coat takes waayyyyyyyy to long to dry (I'm talking hours). If you smudge just a little by touching your nails on something the shine is gone and the color become dull. Will be returning it.

This makes my nail polish goes on smoother.. And it helps not to stain my nail which is what it's supposed to do

It worked great as a base, but as a top coat didn't really work. Chipping started within 24 hours, so not that great.

Well, I wouldn't agree that this is a all in one product. As a base, it does an average job helping the color stay on but I still get chips by the second day. As for a top coat...oh hell no. This stuff never seems like it never dries. It is so weird because to the touch, it appears dry and this is after an hour or so of drying time but it will smudge if I bang my nails. Also, three hours!!! After I did my nails, I went to bed and woke up with smudges and bed marks on 7 nails! I wished I saved the receipt and box but I didn't now I have to toss it. Back to Sally's for Out The Door Top Coat which so far is the best in my opinion and my hunt continues for a good base coat.

I bought this nail polish because I wanted my nail polish to stay on longer. I was excited to find it because Essie nail polishes are very expensive, and I didn't want to have to buy seperate polishes. I ended up really liking this nail polish! I put it on as a base coat and top coat, and my nail polish stays on for a really long time! It's fantastic!

Like the reviewer below me, I also don't understand the poor reviews.
I have normal nails & needed a base coat to protect my nails from yellowing. This has worked out beautifully for my needs!
-maintains a longer manicure

I'm not sure why this just doesn't receive more love but I am here to testify as to the awesomeness of this product. And awesome it is! I am a nail polish whore, I could never stay faithful to one brand so I have tried all base coats. Was switching between Orly Bonder and OPI Natural when I happened upon this at my local Wal Mart. It is an Aquamarine color (I like base coats to be distinguishable from top coats) and for the second straight mani - this being the only difference in my painting regimen, I have had my polish last for more than 7 days with MINIMAL tip wear. This has never happened before, so I know it is this product. I used this under OPI The Spy Who Loved Me and Essie Really Red with Seche Vite Top Coat and they both lasted for longer than 7 days. Give it a try. Well done, Essie I've found my HG.

This has got to be one of the worst bases I have ever purchased. I ran out of my Rimmel base so I decided to splurge and get this Essie base coat (in Canada it's not exactly cheap). I have used this for the past couple months but I think it would be better just to go without.
What it does:
1. My nail polish peels right off with this stuff - like right off the nail. I use a lot of Rimmel Pro 10 day polish, OPI and I just bought a few OPI for Sephora polishes and a day after I put on the base, two coats of polish and a top coat the polish literally peels off the nail so the nail is bare. I didn't do anything particularly strenuous with my nails either.
2. Doesn't protect my nails from stains!!!! I wore a OPI for Sephora red polish for a week and oh my goodness!!! I have huge ugly stains on my nails. This base did nothing! I paint my nails all the time and have never had this problem. My nails looks awful, like I've worn a cheap colour without a base!!!
Do yourself a favour and stay away from this product. I don't know about any of the other qualities the product says it has but the reason I bought this - to protect my nails and lengthen the time of the manicure - it does not do.
