This is the first and only Deva product I really like for my hair . It does exactly what I needed on my fine wavy/curly just above the shoulder (when curly) hair. I needed curl definition, frizz control, suppleness & something to give my hair some heft so the curls would clump nicely. Something that when the wind blew it wouldn't be like a thousand pieces of thread blowing in the air, but nice chuncky curls blowing around. I wanted soft, moveable summer hair. I am still figuring out the perfect product cocktail, but this stuff can be used by itself too (it just left my crown a touch flat). I would prefer to find a dirt cheap gel or something to mix it with so that I can use less of this very expensive styling cream. It has been playing nice with Dep & LA Looks blue gels & also works fantastic with ISO Bouncy cream (ISO is pretty cheap for a non drugstore product). I use this styling cream almost like you would a leave in conditioner. And unlike other creams that feel like they should be working like a leave in conditioner, but end up leaving your hair dry & parched feeling, this one leaves it feeling soft & controlled.
FYI - I tried the Volume Foam, and it felt like I needed to use a ton of that to do what the styling cream does with much less product. But the Foam does an even better job on frizz control than the cream (where you use it). If I had money to burn, I would use them together, but I don't.

Grail. This, A/G Beach Bomb and Noodlehead are my three never fail great hair day products. Of the three, the Deva is my favorite. Put it in soaking wet hair, twirl, scrunch, diffuse and my hair is perfect. A little more on dry hair if I need it. 3a/Botticelli curls and I'm on my third pump bottle.

I love this stuff! It's my go-to styling product in the summer, and it seems to make a looser curl than I get with gel.

I love this stuff! Free of silicone, and not greasy or heavy. The starch in the product makes for great second and third day hair, and great fullness and volume. I apply it both wet and dry, and get amazing results both ways. This is one of the best products for curls I've tried. I don't think the product really offers any hold, so I apply it with gel and mouse.

This is some seriously great stuff for my fine, below the shoulder 2a/b curly hair. My stylist gave me a very large sample (which lasted several weeks) and I just bought a full bottle. Gives me beautifully defined, full curls and reduces frizz. Has some hold but it isn't an all-in-one product-- I still need some gel on top. Leaves my hair in great condition, doesn't dry it out or weight it down, and can be used on wet or dry hair. Has a sweet-citrus scent (if you have Set it Free, this smells pretty much the same).

Not a bad product for everyone but nightmare for me. I love the Devacare products which have really helped making my super dry prone super pouffy frizzy naturally wavy fine to medium hair behave much better which is something no line on the planet I have tried ever has. I was so happy when they finally came out with a curl cream as the gels just don't work for my hair. However this cream is just waaaaay to heavy. Yes great for those with very thick hair but anyone with fine or loose curls stay far away as I might as well have put straight wax on my hair as not only was it heavy it coated and weighed down my hair like it was glue. I was dying to get through the work day just to get home and try to get this gunk out of my hair. I have used over moisturizing products before in trial and error realizing they of course weren't a match for my hair but none have ever left the waxy coating this did. Definitely not for my hair type and disappointing. Devacare didn't come out with a lighter curl cream as well. This one should be titled a curl balm/heavy cream as sadly a bit misleading since it in no way is for all curly hair.

I've only just started using the DevaCurl styling cream at the suggestion of my hairdresser, so this review will just be my initial impressions. I'll come back after I've used this for a while.
First: my hair looks fantastic so far and I've slept in it already. This product gave me a different type of wave from my usual, natural curl/wave. Usually, when I don't touch my hair and I just let it air dry with no product, I have very loose waves near my roots (perhaps 2 long waves in the top several inches) and then very piece-y twists from my shoulders down. Also, the top several inches tends to get frizzy. Now with this product, instead I have what I would call beach-hair with waves the whole way through, and it doesn't look frizzy (well, it does a bit more now that I slept in it, but all night last night it was not frizzy).
I used quite a bit of the product (entire palm), but my hair is long. I was told that my hair would NOT be crunchy, but, initially the curls were crunchy; however, once my hair was dry to mostly dry, I played with it a bit and shook out the crunchy sections. The crunchy part immediately disappeared and I ended up with the beach waves I mentioned above. I'm liking it so far, though I won't always wants this beach waves look. I'm going to play with this product over the next several weeks and see what else it can do - I'll be back after I've experimented for a while.
I paid $19.50 because I had a 25% off coupon. It's more than I've been spending on products these past couple of years, but I really wanted to try it out.

Update 4/26: I'm uploading a picture so that you can see how my hair looks after a day of using the product. The picture you see of me is the blond hair in the pictures above: on this day I washed my hair and put the styling cream in around 5:45am. I let my hair air dry, then I spent the entire day at work (I'm a teacher so I move around a lot!). At 8pm I took this picture. The closer up portion gives you more detail and for me there's a lot less frizz than I would have without the product. I like that I can touch my hair a bit without worrying about a major frizz-out (mostly doing things like moving my hair over one shoulder, tucking my hair behind my ears, and pulling it up in a pony tail with just my hands and then releasing it... random hair touching). I let you judge the frizziness and look of it for yourself, but I like it considering that it's just the styling cream and then airdry (i.e. no effort). I think it does look better when I diffuse it though because I can give the top more body/volume.
------
Update 6/18: I really like the styling cream.
My hair always looks good on the first day I wash my hair and then put this product in (good = almost no frizz, hair feels soft, curls are intact). After sleeping overnight (or if I have a crazy, hectic, active day) I develop a halo of frizz on the top of my hear. I figured out that I can wet my hands, put a tiny amount of the cream on my fingers, rub my hands together, and lightly wet down the frizz. That seems to work pretty well for a while, though I haven't really analyzed how long this lasts before I frizz again.
I'm not sure about the other posters comment about the waxy feel? Maybe there was something defective with their bottle?
I still haven't tried anything beyond applying the cream after a shower and letting it air dry. So I can't comment on how well it can be styled to look different.

I may finally have found The One as far as styling products goes. This stuff is incredible. My hair used to be straighter, but ever since I had children, I have had wavy/curly hair that forms somewhat loose ringlets. I got this product with a coupon at Ulta on a whim, and today was the first time I used this. Today happened to be a good test day, as I had an outdoor birthday party in the afternoon, came home for a minute or 2, and then left for another birthday party that took place in a hot Indian restaurant. I danced, chased my children, socialized, and sweat a little at times. My hair looked nothing short of amazing the entire day and night. It's about 11 PM now, and my hair is still silky, separated ringlety waves with incredible body and no frizz. I really can't believe it. This product is not cheap, but at this rate I can see it becoming HG material. My hair still feels and looks amazing, with no crunchy ends or frizz whatsoever. Love this!!
