I have obnoxiously oily skin. I almost returned this, but the color was so perfect and I wanted it to work so bad that I broke down and tried it with a primer. Very glad I did. I've never used primer, but before using it with a primer, I felt it looked Cakey and makeup-ey. Now I use the primer and moisturizer before use and the end results are about everything I coud realistically aske for. It doesn't make me look too made up, lasts through the day, covers the redness in my face, and stays matte. I still have to blot but less than with my old standby....el doublewear.

When I first tried this foundation I hated it but I gave it another chance and I have to say that I REALLY like this foundation. A LOT! If your hesitant to buy this bc of the price, then I would suggest to try out the covergirl 3 in 1 foundation bc I think they are quite similar. I do have to say that you have to work quickly and blend well with this foundation or else it will look bad. I recommend working with a magnified mirror and a dense synthetic brush. After you blend it with the brush go over with a beauty blender and push the foundation into your skin.It looks so amazing when you know how to apply it so dont give up on it so easily. I dont mind spending extra time on my foundation bc to me its the most important part of my makeup routine.

My skin type - very oily
Skin tone - pale - NC10
I wasn't a fan of this. I purchased the shade Pearl for my NC10 skin and it was far too dark and beige. It's a very neutral beige without any discernible pink or yellow tones and actually looked completely grey and corpse like when I mixed some white in.
As for the formula, I have very oily skin yet it managed to make it look dry and cakey in certain spots and I ended up having to remove it from between my eyebrows and nose and just use concealer there because it looked so bad lol. It's also not buildable and sets very quickly, similarly to the way Revlon Colorstay does, yet dries to a powder finish. When I tried to put more on top, the foundation that had already dried underneath caked up..I wasn't able to spot conceal blemishes on top of the foundation because it was impossible to blend on top of the powder finish the foundation dries too.
Oh well, I can at least say that I am very impressed with the oil sucking abilities of this foundation. My face was completely matte when I came home after a 8 hour day. I may experiment with mixing it with some one my foundations that I find too dewy, or oily sunscreens.

Absolutely LOVE this foundation!! I have VERY oily skin to the point where even when i wear EL double wear i get shiny after a few hours! This has the power to keep me matte all day! My search for my HG foundation for work is over! This would probably last over 12+ hours although i haven't tried it for that long. BUT please! Application of this foundation is KEY for making this work for you! As the name suggests this is a liquid to powder foundation so it will not work or blend like normal foundations. When i first got this i HATED IT! It made me look cakey dry, would settle into my pores and looked awful to the point i wanted to return it! So 2weeks passed and it was sitting there and i thought i would give it another try! This time with a light hand i used a Mac 187 brush and with very fast motions buffed this all over my face and i was amazed! I looked airbrushed and well... Immaculate!! So please if u get this DO NOT use your fingers, a sponge or a flat foundation brush - please use a stippling brush or maybe a kabuki brush and buff this foundation and swirl it over your skin very quickly and you'll be amazed by this foundation! - MY HG!!! I do not recommend this foundation if you have dry skin - i would say if you have normal/combination/oily skin this will be great for you!! By the way the coverage of this foundation is one of the most natural coverages I've come across! Looks just like Skin! It starts out Light and can be built up to A high medium coverage however i think you would struggle to keep this looking natural if you build it up to full. Im NC 40-42 in MAC and Beige works great for me and has yellow undertones which is perfect for me! My only issue with this foundation is the pump tends to get clogged up! Its still pumps products but its just annoying because you'll get dried up products followed by foundation. Ive honestly tried so many foundations for my oily skin that need to last at least 9hours and keep me shine free and this is by far the best! Just an idea i have tried.. YSL Teint Resist, Shiseido sun protection foundation, Giorgio armani lasting silk, Estee Lauder Double wear, Lancome Teint idole ultra 24hr, Mac ProLongwear, Mac StudioFix, Chanel perfection lumiere, Chanel Vitalumiere, Bobbi brown long lasting foundation, Dior Nude, Mac Face and Body, Bourjois Healthy Mix, The list goes on and on and like i mentioned above the Hourglass beats them all!! But please if you do buy this or have bought this and are not pleased with it please look at my application method as this is make or break with this foundation! Thankyou HOURGLASS!!! :)

I wanted to love this product and was using MAC Pro Longwear foundation in NC25 and wanted to switch because of how much the MAC oxidized on my skin. Shell matched perfectly with NC25, however it does not oxidize on my skin so it is a bit pale. My skin did however get oily mid day and I expected better! I never have this oily problem with MAC Pro Longwear in the middle of the day so I will buy that from now on - especially at half the price! I do however love the color, the packaging, and the texture when applying this foundation. I will finish this bottle but its not worth the $65

I was really excited to try Immaculate after reading so many positive reviews. Their shade range is pretty limited. I got matched with Shell but not was still too light. Anyhow, I have acne prone skin but NOT oily. My skin is more like normal/combo/ some days it feels dry. The Foundation is definitely for oily skin. It looked really bad on me and accentuated every pore and as it dried to a lovely powdery finish (which is the only thing I liked about it) my face looked like an immaculate deserted island. I can see it being wonderful for oily skin though for real. So if u have normal or dry skin... Stay away from this foundation. I actually prefer Revlon foundation for combo skin as it also dries to powdery finish but doesn't look cakey.

Beautiful medium coverage foundation for oily skin. Feels like nothing, applies like a dream with a flawless finish, wears very well and by end of day looks radiant and healthy. No oxidizing, no sliding or melting, no breaking down into an oily mess.
No foundation in the world will make oily skin stop producing oil. You'll probably still have to blot, but probably less with this foundation than with others. Its not a workhorse, dont put it to impossible tests, but its very elegant option that I'm personally really happy with.

This foundation works best on oily skin like mine. It can look cakey on normal to dry skin. It dries quickly so you have to apply fast but it will go on evenly. it's lightweight. It's light to medium buildable coverage that is easy to build up. it does dry to a matte powder finish but it doesn't look powdery. It smooths pores very well. you can powder if you want to make it even more longlasting but it sets itself. throughout the day i still get some shine in mt t-zone but i don't need to blot, it just looks dewy not oily.
what makes this foundation better than other mattifying foundations from other brands is that this one doesn't break me out and it doesn't look heavy!!!!!

I dropped in at Sephora to pick up a concealer, and was accosted (I know this is a harsh word, but if you've ever been to Sephora, you'll know what I mean) by an associate. I told her I wanted to be matched for Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage. She did just that...but did she stop there? She asked me if I was using a primer before applying my foundation and I said, 'No". Big mistake. No. I got dragged (Walk with me) to the Hourglass display and she proceeded to 'school' me on primer and foundation. I got to experience the Sephora 'exclusive' Hourglass line. Primer and foundation were applied. She gushed over how great my skin looked and asked me to check it out in the mirror provided. It was all I could do not to scream...I looked like a Kabuki dancer. Firstly, the foundation was waaay to light. Secondly, I could SEE the foundation on the top of my skin. Was this problem with the Hourglass primer or the foundation. Not a clue, but I was not about to buy these products. After the associate saw I was not impressed, she was all about getting me checked out and out the door. As far as I'm concerned, I will NEVER set foot in another Sephora. What is their deal, anyway?

I was very impressed by this foundation. It's considered a liquid powder . Love that! One thing I must say is that you need to work fast with this one cause it sets fast! I like the mineral powder brush by sephora collection best. This foundation wore all day without a powder even! It gave me a beautiful doll like finish! The most impressive part is the ingredients inside this formula!!! Ill mention the 2 top ones. 1.) phytostem edelweiss ~ an active from a rare Himalayan plant that slows collegen degradation .2.) lavandox ~Spanish lavender I guess this is supposed to relax muscle contractions?

Love this foundation. I work 12+ hrs and require a foundation that is longlasting and needs minimal touch-ups. I prefer a satin matte finish that is not flat. I am also very pale with neutral undertones and many foundations run either a touch too pink or too yellow on my skin. This foundation ticks all the boxes. It stays on my skin, requires minimal blotting, satin matte finish that actually looks skinlike, and the shade Petal is my absolute best shade match ever! It is pricey-reminicent of my Chantecaille Future Skin days, but the packaging is much better. I prefer a sterile pump. I apply this with my fingers or the real techniques buffing brush and have no issues blending. No spf but I layer it over my Kiss My Face spf 30 for face and neck with no issues. If you have combo-oily or oily skin, this is an amazing foundation. Combo dry and dry skins would probably be better suited with another foundation. Definate repurchase for me.

If you're looking for heavy duty coverage for a special event, this is a good option but I think this is too heavy for everyday wear. It drys very fast and can look patchy if you don't blend immediately. If you're looking for a powder finish, you do get that with this and you don't need powder.

I love this foundation when it's mixed with Make Up For Ever HD Foundation. I'm shade "Sand" in Immaculate and #123 in MUFE HD. The finish is absolutely flawless and I find it to be the best mixture because it doesn't settle into my fine lines (my 'elevens' right between the brows). I find that, as it wears throughout the day, it looks even better. I've gotten so many compliments whenever I wear this mixture together. The price is something I can't splurge on again though. I understand it's because of the incredibly great ingredients its made with and "you get what you pay for", but my wallet can't support my love for this foundation. I think the thick, velvetty texture and the matte finish of it really works well with my skin type. On it's own, however, the color is off and I just don't like how it looks. But mixed with a more fluid type of foundation like HD, it is beautiful!! I often "cocktail" foundations together, but this has been the best mixture for my skin thus far. It's a shame Hourglass costs so much, otherwise, I would repurchase and get a back up of it too!

I recently have been on the hunt for a matte foundation with moderate coverage that does not make my oily with dry patches and acne prone skin break out. I think I had tried a sample of almost everything in Sephora and I was thinking I was going to have to settle for a foundation that wasn't a matte finish UNTIL a SA tells me about the new hourglass foundation the store just started to carry. After trying a small sample on my hand I was in awe of how velvety the texture was so I asked for a generous sample. Finally Friday night rolls around (I only wear make-up on weekends) and I could not wait to test it out on my face. Let me tell you, after trying countless products this is top 3 of best textured foundation and something even better I only had to use about a nickle size worth of product and that provided great coverage for the majortiy of my very spotty face.
Fast forward 10 Hours, 5 of which were at a club, with only one touch up and my face was looking really good STILL. Hardly any oil and still a great amount of coverage. This is a blesssing if I've ever had one.

My HG foundation and I have dry skin! I never get oily, but I rarely flake either (face oils solved that for me). I apply this with the Hourglass foundation brush and buff it on - the colour looks orange at first, but once buffed, I basically look completely smooth and with perfectly even skin. It lasts all day and I have had no breakouts, dryness or any issues. In the UK we're still waiting for the new pump - so can't buy another one yet, but I definitely will as soon as it's available. I have been using it for a few months and admit the first couple of weeks I did think too orange, but I think it must have those colour adjusters in it. Properly obsessed.

Wow, so many negative/ blah reviews for this HG foundation! :O
First off, let me just say that i am extremely acne-prone. Like, I can just look at a MAC foundation and break out acne-prone. To top it all off, my face oils up faster than a juicehead at the shore on spring break...not a pleasant combo. This was actually reccommended to me by a SA at Sephora when I told her of my little situation and got a generous sample from her and went on about my day.
When I tried it, my color match was off, but nothing a little bronzer can't fix. I was very pleasantly surprised and how I DID NOT need to blot 2 hours after applying this. Usually, in the past, im not even done with my entire makeup before I have to start blotting. The big test came when after wearing this foundation for approx 4-5 days (12 hr days) I DID NOT breakout! Immediately after that the sky opened up and I heard a heavenly choir rejoice with me... no, not really. But it was a heavenly experience nonetheless. :) I had found my HG foundation!
In short, ladies just give this a try! Coverage is moderate but very buildable, it's not going to break you out, and although the price tag may scare some off, the amount you get is really very generous. Totally worth it. ;)

PROS: This product has great coverage. I normally wear a concealer before putting on foundation, but with this product you don't have to. It stays on the whole day and touch-up is not necessary.
CONS: I had issues with this foundation going on blotchy. This may be due to the fact that I have combination skin so it might work better for someone with very oily skin. This is a liquid powder foundation so it needs to be applied quickly as it dries up fast. Because this product goes on blotchy and dries quickly, wearing multiple layers is difficult. You MUST use a foundation brush for this product; it goes on poorly with a sponge. Lastly, I find that $55 for a bottle of foundation is a bit pricey.
CONCLUSION: Coverage was the only thing going on for this product. The blotchiness issue was a big problem for me and I could not finish using the whole bottle. I will not be purchasing this product again.

This foundation was pretty disappointing to me, for several reasons--the first and most frustrating being how the pump was entirely nonfunctional :/ One defective pump I could understand, but the second one I received after returning the first foundation bottle was also broken! (To be fair, though, I hear that Hourglass has already re-released this foundation with an improved bottle and pump, so I hope that no one buying this now runs into the same problem).
So my product design griping aside, I had issues with the foundation itself. I had a really hard time finding a decent color match--everything ran too dark and/or too yellow, even the lightest shade, and even then while it was applied very sheerly. The coverage is decent, and the foundation's finish was nice and matte from far away, but up close the texture was totally jacked up--pooling into my pores and creating flakies that where there weren't before (I like what another reviewer said, calling it 'a 30 foot foundation,' lol!).
To top it all off, it smells kind of stinky too D:

I'm currently using a sample of this foundation in Nude. It has a lightweight consistency but delivers pretty pigmented coverage - I'd say this is solidly a medium coverage foundation, but it feels like nothing going on. Unfortunately, this gradually oxidized on me as the day wore on, so I can't say I'd recommend this if you have similar issues with other foundations. Aside from the oxidation issues, this is a good natural-looking foundation.
