This isn't a bad quad. I wanted some blue and purple based colors so I figured I'd get this and get 2 for 1 basically. I like the colors however they are chalky. They aren't nearly as smooth and silky as my Mocha Latte quad. I use brushes and I get the perfect amount of pigment from them. I don't like my purples, blues, and greens too dark. I like the softer wash of color and these work perfectly. I didn't think I would like the gold, it seems garish but it goes on very pretty. I put the blue color over my Cover Girl Shadowblast Intense in blue and the color lasts all day.

The photo of the model wearing these colors drew me in. But, I don't see how in the world I could get enough pigment from these shadows to do my eyes like that. The applicator included is a little rough on my skin and the colors just don't transfer to the skin very well. I don't imagine using an eyeshadow brush would make a difference. The compact is very nice, though. Black durable plastic that closes securely with a mirror inside. Very attractive overall, but the shadows themselves are on par with Wet-n-Wild (and even then some of Wet-n-Wild's eyeshadows are much better).

Maybe I'm spoiled? I'm used to L'Oreal, Laura Gellar and Too Faced eyeshadows which are very pigmented and soft (especially the last two). The golden eyeshadow from Laura Gellar's Toast of the Town kit is amazing, super pigmented and extremely easy to blend. Unfortunately, Avon has far to go to even come close to a professional eyeshadow. Great customer service, though. They refunded me for the palette and didn't have me ship it back.

The Avon eyeshadows seem to get good ratings on this site, but I was never an eyeshadow girl and, quite frankly, Avon's shade selection left much to be desired in my opinion. This palette was released for the holidays, which means it will be gone soon, but the colors were so good I had to try it. I'm glad I did! You get champagne, gold, deep purple, and royal blue - all shimmery, but very subtly so. I love wearing these with either black or colored eyeliner. The packaging includes a generously sized mirror and standard sponge applicator. Best of all, the color lasts all day - no smudging or creasing - and when I say all day, that can include into the night as well. I highly recommend trying these colors!
