I went to the gym with this on and after a 30 min run I had white sweat marks running down my face. So for gym-goers, beware! The treatment from acne.org does not give me this problem.

I use BP on my entire face twice a day and I think this is probably more suited for those who only apply it to problem areas because it's a small tube and comes out as a thicker cream.

This is a product which I've been using for years. I only just realized that I haven't written a review for it.

I love this product and it's one of the few products that I'm very confident of using. I know that by applying it, my inflamed spot will get smaller overnight, and it always does.

I'll cleanse my face with neutrogena blackhead eliminating daily scrub (because I like cleansers with a sandy feel), and usually use The Body Shop tea tree toner. Then i'll use this all over my face, usually concentrating on where I've spots. My face has got better over the years, but I have those tiny bumps over my forehead. Even though I pin up my fringe, these tiny bumps remain. They're not inflamed or red or anything, and can only be seen close-up, but they're pimples nonetheless. For my cheeks and chin, I get pimples sometimes (larger, more inflamed), but they are usually clear, with old acne scars.

I use this almost every day, and concentrate on any breakouts I have. For those REALLY cystic acne (I get a huge inflamed spot maybe once a month or 2 months), I just need to apply a copious amount on the spot itself and rub it in lightly. It does not disappear overnight but gets under control in about 3 days, and dramatically smaller.

If I find that I'm getting more small bumps, I just need to apply this GENEROUSLY, and everything is under control overnight.

Love this. Reliable and fuss-free. Does not stain your clothes and no icky feeling. It does not dry me out but I've oily skin. I usually don't have to apply moisturizer after, although at times my skin feels slightly taut. My skin rarely flakes off due to dryness after applying this. However, I use this only at night as I find that my skin is too dry for smooth application of foundation in the day. In the morning, I only use this on any cystic acne I have. Otherwise, I'll just skip this.

I'm also 40 years old and have had acne to one degree or another for almost 30 years. Lately, I've been dealing with terrible hormonal acne - cysts along my chin and jaw line that take weeks to clear and cause scarring. Not to mention that random white head here, there, and everywhere. I started using Neutrogena On-The-Spot as part of the acne.org Regimen (with over the counter products) about six weeks ago, and I'm here to tell you my skin is CLEAR. (O-kay, I still have a few blackheads on my nose, but that's it). In fact, I didn't even realize I was about to get my period because I didn't get a single cyst or pimple leading up to it. My face looks really good! I'm kind of blown away. I've tried so many products over the years and who would've thought I'd be back to benzoyl peroxide?!

I bought this product at Walmart yesterday.
Yesterday i had a couple zits having a party on my forehead, along with some healing pimples and some new and upcoming pimples around my nose and two whiteheads on my chin.

Smacked this little tube of wonders on all of them and BAM
next morning all of the zits on my forehead and whiteheads on my chin were either gone or shrunk dramatically (to just little bumps and the ones on my cheeks shrunk as well. Ill keep putting this on once a day and come back in about a week to see if it's cleared my skin or not *crosses fingers* :)

OH MY GOODNESS. If i could give this product a 10/5, I would. I'd like to start off by saying that i have genetic acne, my parents had horrible breakouts in their teens, my siblings do as well. I have dealt with some moderate-severe scarring for the past few months, i dont really get new pimples all that much now, but its the redness and bumps from previous years that were bothering me. this product is AMAZING!!! i am writing this review a week after i started using it. my skin has started clearing up and healing dramatically. the redness is disappearing and the bumps are evening out. i am not sure how this works, but this product is magical. if neutrogena is to ever discontinue this, i will be the first to fly to walmart and grab all the remaining packages. would definitely recommend it to anyone struggling with breakouts/looking to prevent new ones.

I've been using it for like 6 years and is my miracle savior. I dont get acne like I used to anymore maybe a little bump every month or so , but I still use it because I dont wanna take chances, its gentle if you use a good moisturizer over it .if not you might get just a little dry

This stuff has become so awful over the past yr. I used to love it and used it religiously for probably about 7 yrs on any zits that popped up but over the past yr it literally just stopped working. I don't know if they changed the formula of it or what but all it does now is irritate my face soooo bad. I'm talking peeling, itching, burning, bright red skin irritation. It does not heal zits at all like it used to. It used to heal zits within a few days now it takes a good wk for zits to go away using it. I decided to test out if it took just as long for my zits to go away without using anything at all and that proved to be true. This stuff does not make zits go away any quicker than not putting anything on them. All it literally does is irritate the heck out of your skin and does not at all speed the healing of your zits. It's really a shame because it really did used to work well. It worked so well before that it took me a yr of it not working before I finally gave up on it. I constantly had hope over the past yr that maybe the next tube I bought would be a good batch and it would start doing its job again but no such luck. I'm really convinced that they must have changed the formula because I can't think of what else could be the cause of this.

I'd always had totally clear skin up until I hit my early 20s. At that time I started getting the occasional hormonal pimple on my chin before my period. It didn't happen frequently and didn't really bother me. But for whatever reason, for the past two years it's gotten worse. I was on birth control (not for the breakouts) for a year which stopped them completely. When I stopped taking the pill, everything was still fine until I messed up my hormones with something else. The breakouts started coming at various times during my cycle, and the last one literally lasted my entire cycle. Typically I'd get a pimple and it would take a week/week and a half to clear up, and then I'd be left with discoloration for the next several months. But they were gradually getting worse and worse. These weren't just little annoyances; they were the huge, painful, under-the-skin type that sometimes never even come to a head and take a while to go away. My entire chin would swell when they'd start to form.

During my last cycle, I got one the very day after my period ended (wtf) and it *would not go away*. I tried every home remedy out there and *nothing* would even make the slightest improvement. I finally kind of gave up and thought it would be gone within a couple weeks and would just wait it out. Three weeks into my cycle I realized that wasn't going to happen. By that point I just wanted to get rid of the damn thing and started searching for a product that contains a low amount of BP. I had tried the really strong ones in the past and paid the price. My skin *cannot* tolerate them. I figured I was willing to put up with some minor irritation if it meant finally getting rid of the pimple. I found Neutrogena's On The Spot to be the lowest I could find at the store, so I picked it up. Within two days the pimple was less than half it's original size and was no longer sore and rock-hard. I applied a super thin layer once in the morning and once at night for the first two days, and then I noticed the dryness kicking in so I started applying just once a day after that. I never experienced any actual irritation and within about 4 days the pimple was gone. I still have the discoloration but that's to be expected.

This stuff is great and I'm definitely going to keep it on hand for when I start to feel the pimples forming! (I've been taking Vitex to straighten out my hormones though so hopefully the breakouts won't be a problem anymore. So far so good.) I would definitely repurchase and I feel a lot better knowing that I have a product that is actually effective against breakouts.

On the spot acne treatment vanishing cream really didn't do anything to my skin except irritate it and dry it out. i used only a tiny amount on stubborn white heads and it happened to irritate and aggravate the area even more. i suggest trying this if you do not have skin that is sensitive to benzoyl peroxide. also, it is important to only use it as a spot treatment and not an overall face treatment. i hope to find a night topical gel that can be used all over my face that isn't as harsh as benzoyl peroxide and salicyic acid.

I'm not sure if I have mild hormonal acne or mild folliculitis on my chin. It had gotten to the point where I would get a new lesion before the previous had healed, and it would take a long time for any of them to completely fade. This resulted in a beautiful spotty scaly chin. I tried calamine and neosporin and that helped speed healing, but was unsightly and caused my skin to flake (not to mention the day I took my husband to the ER with pink spots on my face- completely forgot I'd put anything on it). At this point I have had no new lesions and the remaining lesions are healing very well. I'm also noticing that the stubborn spots are starting to fade as well. I don't know that I would use this daily for a long period of time, but it is working very well without drying the surrounding skin.

I really disliked this product. I have combo skin, oily T zone, usually normal or occasional dryness everywhere else. I normally have pimples in the t zone (forehead, inner cheeks, chin) so I put a dab of this stuff on the 4 or 5 whiteheads I had, then went to bed. In the morning, they looked, to my disappointment, about the same. I kept using this to give it a chance, and eventually i saw improvement, but it took at least a week. Then, miraculously, my skin got really clear and all my blemishes were gone for about a month, which I'm guessing is because of my change in diet (less sugar, drinking more water). Then i got a little pimple on my forehead, so i tried this again. when i woke up, there was a dark, discolored, dried-out circle on my forehead surrounding the pimple! ahhhhhh! after a few days it faded and went back to it's normal oily state when it was there, it was so dark, it was difficult to cover with makeup! ugh, so annoying. now i'm looking for a new spot treatment, maybe clean and clear? and i will start drinking more water and eating less sugar again. Teens, thats your best bet if you have moderate acne. not buying this again.

I'm on my third tube of this. I like it a lot better than the proactiv benzoyl peroxide cream. I use this once or twice a day most days and it clears up blemishes pretty quickly. I have cystic acne on my chin sometimes and I pick. This does seem more effective on popped pimples, but that is usually the only kind I have. I will definitely repurchase this again and again.

Pretty good treatment for acne prone areas of your skin. I use it on spots of cystic acne, and it takes a few days to dry up the area, but will prevent recurrence in the same area. I use this under my makeup and it helps with my efforts to camouflage my blemishes.

I am 40, and have only had combination skin since my daughter was born seven years ago, so it's been a struggle; pampering my aging skin, while keeping it clean and clear. I've found if I use this in my t zone area on a daily basis, it keeps my skin clear.

I ABSOLUTELY HATE THIS PRODUCT. I put on this cream on a few spots on my cheeks and it gave me SUCH a bad allergic reaction as my skin is sensitive and I think it's because of benzoyl peroxide that I'm probably allergic to. My face has swollen up on those areas and my spots have increased. It has been 3 days now and the swelling has gone down by 40%. This stupid product has made my skin much much worse. None of Neutrogenas products have worked for me. If you have sensitive skin, DO NOT use this or buy it. Grrrrr

I love this! Its a bit expensive for the tiny amount of product you get but its worth it. It makes my spots vanish in literally one night. I only use it at night time and it is amazing! It gets rid of all my tiny little bumps and pimples. I had a huge blind pimple next to my nose for several weeks and I've been using this on it for about 2 nights and its almost disappeared. I only use this when my skin gets really bad which is a week or two out of every month. It makes my skin dry and tight afterwards but I always moisturise after using this. Love it and will continue to buy.

I can't express how much I love this product! I find that it didn't work as well over large red zits but it works perfectly on already popped zits or small zits that comes in clusters which are super difficult to go away. I'm 16 and I frequently get hormonal zits, but that doesn't mean that I don't try preventing it. Prevention is key! When i started having zits when I was 13, I used benzoyl peroxide 10 and 5 but both didn't work and made my skin flake so I thought that benzoyl peroxide just doesn't work on me. I've seen this product quite many times but I thought - If 10 and 5 didn't work, all the more 2.5 wouldn't. So I've used tea tree oil, witch hazel, salicylic acid (which worked well, until recently), apple cider vinegar, olive oil, hydrogen peroxide, honey cinnamon, aspirin and many various types of pimple creams (ive never taken oral medication because the breakouts are not bad enough) but nothing worked as quickly as this did! This took 3 applications (1 day - when I wake up, when I come home from school and before I sleep) and the zit is half gone! With other products, my zits usually take 1-2 weeks to go away so this is really a pleasant surprise! I bought it because I was really desperate and there is almost no more products for me to try. It is more expensive thab other products for such a small tube in comparison but its still affordable. You don't need much so it will last for a long time. Also, I was shocked by how watery the texture is, most products I've used are thick gel/cream consistency but this is a watery texture which dries matte and it does make your face feel a little tight but I don't mind. Also, this product allows me to put on concealer smoothly because its so thin compared to thick gels & creams which would cake on or slide off my face. LOVE THIS PRODUCT. No harm trying it if you have acne because its really good :-)

I'm currently using this as a daily treatment for my entire face. I use it in conjunction with Purpose Gentle Cleanser and Dan's AHA+ lotion.

I resorted to this because I could not find another 2.5 % BP lotion. I needed something ASAP, and didn't want to splurge on the pro-activ lotion or wait for Dan's BP gel, so I found this.

The product comes in a small tube and disperses easily. The cream is not moisturizing at all, and leaves my face very tight (as do most bp treatments- I come to expect this). Moisturizing alleviates this. I do not experience more breakouts from this, and I feel like it does help prevent pimples. I do not feel, however, that it is effective enough to spot treat big ones. The product doesn't have a distinct or noticeable fragrance, and is better put on when your skin is moist (like after a shower). It does not spread very well other wise.

Not really my favorite product, but certainly not the worst. Will buy again if I run out of other preferred alternatives.

Update: As of last week (today is 9/16) I've quit using this product and Dan's AHA+ lotion, and have instead switched the two out with apple cider vinegar. It has been fantastic, has lightened scars, kept pimples at bay, and has improved my skin tone already. And it's natural! Definitely worth investigating.
Update #2: I had some red spots (not pimples, just small red...spots) develop and persist on my face during the last stages of using this. I've also started using raw honey and jojoba oil (with my three step now being honey for wash, vinegar for toning, and oil for moisturizing), and my skin is healing much better, feels better, and looks better now. Today is 10/2/12. i started doing the raw honey about three days after the switch to vinegar toning.

I use the Neutrogena Pink Grapefruit cleanser on my face and it works wonders, but I bought this for the more stubborn pimples. I wanted something that I could put specifically on the um, stand out? Pimples on my face to try to get rid of them.

It works, but not overnight. I usually need to put this on the same pimple three days in a row before the pimple finally goes completely away.

It's not bad, but it's really not that good either. I'll use up the thing of it I have now, but will look for a new spot treatment after that.

UPDATE: Been using this continuously now and closely monitoring how it works. Sometimes it works well, and the pimple is gone the next day. Other times, it looks like nothing happened. It didn't get worse, nor better. And other times, the pimple/blemish didn't really get worse, but a new pimple would pop up near it. This treatment is very unpredictable and I'll be looking for a new one.

I've been using this for years now as a preventative measure... in the AM and PM. I still tend to struggle with breakouts, but this stuff works way better for me than salicylic acid, so I stick with it. Once I have a pimple, sometimes it makes it go away quicker... and sometimes it doesn't. So I think of it more as a preventative thing.
You just have to be careful because it will bleach towels, clothing, pillow cases, etc.
