Absolutely love this foundation.
I have oily skin that is very acne prone and this is the only foundation I will use . It has helped the condition of my skin so much, I could go on for hours. I have gone from an acne-scarred pizza face to being able to go sans foundation and feel comfortable in my bare skin since I started using this product. It has a whipped texture that feels great when you put it on. It has great coverage and I often double it as a concealer for a more natural look.
As soon as I tried another foundation after my makeup bag got stolen, BAM, I broke out once again. I went around trying varying foundations, but as soon as I came back to this one, my skin has cleared up and stayed clear. I'm afraid to play around with other foundations because I don't want to have to deal with a mountain range across my face again!
The only downside is that you have to know how to use this product. If you don't, it can slip throughout the day or make your pores look larger. Blend in a little at a time and build your coverage and try to use the least amount possible. If you put too much on, the color may not match! The $30 brush that is recommended to use with it actually made a huge difference to me versus other brushes. It blends nicely, leaving a more natural looking finish.

So I bought this because i've been hunting for the perfect matte full coverage foundation. I have really sensitive acne prone skin which used to be oily but is now kinda combo! But it tends to get oily around my t-zone. SO I got this foundation in I believe tan deep from Sephora. I apply it with a stippling brush than put the makeup forever powder on top of it.
LOVE: The coverage, if applied right, you look FLAWLESS.
How it makes me look kinda tanner.
It feels so smooth when applying.
Doesn't feel cake-y.
DONT LOVE: How there are only a few color options available.
I couldn't find my shade but wear one two shades darker than my tone.
IT CAN look cake-y if a lot is applied.
38 dollars which may be a problem.
Makes me break out if I wear consistently.

I was really exited to try this out since I heard so many good things about it. I went to Sephora and bought both the foundation and concealer. I have oily, acne prone skin and am currently experiencing some redness on my cheeks, so I look for coverage and staying power in a foundation. I usually end up looking super shiny by the end of the day. Unfortunately, Tarte's foundation had me looking super shiny by lunch time. I tried again the next day but same result :( so I returned it.

so recently i have tried 4 different foundations...didnt like any of them. i was getting so frustrated. i was searching the net looking for another one to try and this came up. i had never heard of it before but so many people had good things to say about it. so i scurried down to Ulta with little hope that i would be able to find my shade. i grabbed the shade deep and tried some on..and low and behold it matched! i wore it for the first time today...and i feel like the reviewer before me...OMG!!! i was so pleasantly surprised...TARTE where have you been all of my life??!! i kept checking my makeup as i always do the first time i wear a foundation..and everytime i looked in the mirror i was amazed at how nice and matte my skin looked. this foundation is EVERYTHING! i got the full coverage that i need, the oil control, spf, and it really is long wearing...finally a keeper!!!
P.S.
i will update this review in a few weeks when i've been using it longer.

O m g! This foundation is the BOMB DOT COM! I am so oily and acne prone with acne scarring. Good LAWD have mercy this is the LEAST expected life saver ever. I went to sephora JCpenney (it just opened in my county) and the managers showed it to me and I am a makeup fanatic and somehow I overlooked this. I was always hunting for a full coverage skin perfecting makeup. Usually ending up with MAC and makeup forever (which both either showed my pores or scars to much or after a while became a oily mess despite all the primer use). So I bought a bottle HD foundation AGAIN from MUFE and bought the wrong color and went back to exchange it and the people were like OMG TARTE has a full coverage. I was spectacle because its TARTE and I thought its probably for perfect skin people. BUT WAS I WRONG. IT WAS SUPER FULL COVERAGE WITH OUT EVEN FEELING LIKE IT MY GOD. IT stayed on my skin for HOURS and then I retouched the smooth operator translucent powder and BAM again it was perfect. I am so satisfied with this. I literally registered with MAKEUP ALLEY for this reason. Just to tell all of you that this make up is amazing. Yes I was lucky to find anything in my color because color range is small but it is a blessing. With the benefit porefessional primer under this...I am in makeup heaven...I got compliments. I have never felt so beautiful after wearing makeup before this. I use MAC 197 foundation brush for the perfect full coverage. I also use the tartes MATTE bronzer over everything. I tell you. All this: Benefits Porefessional, Tarte 12 hour foundation, Tarte Smooth operator setting powder, and Tarte matte bronzer in Park Ave Princess....IS PERFECT!! TRY THIS!

Nice coverage and beautiful finish. Makes my skin look nearly flawless. The HUGE application brush makes it fast. I got this as part of a set I ordered from HSN. I can't believe I've given up my longtime Bare Minerals foundation but this covers so well and is so fast!! Doesn't clog my pores and my skin great. My new go-to foundation!

I really like this foundation and I'm a BB Cream girl. I just fell in love with Tart's BB cream then I had to try this. I put this on with my RT foundation brush and I only needed the smallest amount to cover my face very well. I think it's medium to light coverage because I don't have many spots and it covered everything with one layer. I didn't have to build it up to get the coverage I needed. It can be built though for skin that needs more coverage.
I had it on at least 10 hours and my skin looked perfect. No flaws, blotchyness, spots,Etc. My skin looked flawless. It really impressed me that something that stays for 12 hours feels like nothing on your skin. It's very light on the skin and this is the only foundation that I will wear.
Right now this is my HG! No cakyness or it not mixing with my moisturizer and primer. I got this in a set but it's a huge amount but I will buy the regular size before I run out as this is the only foundation I will use atm.It also doesn't make me break out and it controls oil very well so it's the perfect Summer foundation.
Give it a try ladies it's really good and I hope you have the same awesome results.

I bought this product when I was in desperate need for something new. I couldn't find anything that would hide AND cover my acne at the same time until I came across this foundation. It works great! It covers any scars and over time actually decreases the amount of acne. I had it for about three months until I had to buy another one. It's pretty pricey, but definitely worth it.

The best foundation for
-oily breakout prone skin
Pros-
-skin stays matte
-full coverage
-stays on all day
Cons-
Can look and feel a little heavy If you over apply
-I cannot wear this in the winter because the clay that absorbs the oil and keeps you matte will also dry out your skin and cause flakes
I'd say this is the perfect summer foundation for skin that's normal-combination-oily.
It's also natural so it's so much better for your skin and won't clog pores even close to as much as cheap loreal/covergirl, ect foundations

If you have had trouble looking for a matte full-coverage foundation, look no further! I have tried everything from Clinique to MAC, and this is by far the most impressive. I have pretty oily skin, and living in a hot climate doesnt help. The staying power is absolutley phenomenal; only needing a touch-up after SEVEN hours! The coverage is very full, but you can work with it. I suggest using a very dense Kabuki brush, because that seems to give the best results. It provides an airbrushed finish that is unmatched. It is pricey, but with great packaging and a lot of product, you get some bang for your buck. Worth a try! It is my HG foundation!

This foundation is great, almost perfect! I have oily acne prone skin, and large pores! This seems to minimize my pore size (sure it's just an illusion but it looks great!) and makes my skin look dewy and clean and clear. I don't consider this a full coverage, more medium. For a fuller coverage I actually just use concealer in the spots I want more coverage then the foundation. I don't like the application when applied with my hands or a brush, I use the beauty blender I bought at sephora and it gives me a clean streak free air brushed look. Lasts about 6 hours but I find I need to touch up (maybe because of really oily skin!) It doesn't make me break out and I don't mind the packaging because I cut the tube when I'm done and seal it in a airtight Baggie (ziplock) so I can use every last little bit of product. I will continue to buy this, so far it's the only thing that looks great on my skin after trying *hundreds* of foundations over the years.

You HAVE to get the matching Amazonian clay foundation brush! I get compliments on my makeup all the time because this brush makes your skin absolutely flawless! It gives it the most beautiful airbrushed finish. I have 3 of these brushes! They wash and dry nicely.

I have this in 2 shades: light and medium. The light is my main shade and I blend in a little bit of medium based on how tan my skin is. PROS: light to medium coverage, excellent consistency, excellent blendability, good staying power, doesn't look cakey, there is a lot in the tube and it goes a long way, tube allows you to squeeze out the majority of product/no waste, it does help control oil, I've not worn it over 10 hours - but it works well during that time frame, no break-outs or rashes (I have sensitive skin). CONS: shade variety is limited. Hmm, I don't have a lot of cons for this product. A couple tips that work for me...blending two shades to get the correct shade for your skin is helpful as the color selection is a bit limited. I was never a foundation brush person until this product. When I used my fingers to blend I always ended up with a heavier coverage that what I like (I was moving from TM to this product), but the foundation brush allows me to blend it with a lighter touch. It helps control oil, but I also use a mattifying moisurizer (murad) and a light dusting of powder to set it (hd-mufe) and with that combination I do not look oily at all - even after 10 hours. I will keep buying this as I swapped for many products until I found this one and it does exactly what I want it to do.

If you have oily skin and you want a light-weight natural looking foundation with pretty good coverage, then this is the foundation for you! I love how the texture is moussey and creamy, yet it's not going to make you look like an oil-slick at the end of the day (unlike *AHEM* MUFE HD Foundation). It also doesn't seem to oxidize on me either which is a bonus! I don't recommend this foundation for those who are prone to dry skin because it can accentuate dry patches if you have any (and if you do, moisturize). It also has pretty good staying power.

This is my holy grail foundation as of right now, and that is HUGE for me to say because I have tried (probably hundreds) of foundations in my lifetime, both high and low end, and never felt this way about any of them before.
This foundation blends like a dream, and still gives full coverage with it looking natural, like you have perfect skin, and it lasts ALL DAY LONG. It is non-drying or irritating to my dry skin whatsoever, it does not break me out, and i'd say it leaves a semi-matte, kinda satin finish which is beautiful and makes me glow in all the RIGHT places!
The lasting power on it is really great. I get compliments on my skin whenever I wear this foundation (and the concealer) The formulation is absolutely perfect. I have a very high-stress job in retail where i am running around all day long and it gets quite hot, and I do produce some oil, but whenever I pass a mirror, i look flawless just as i put the foundation on in the morning. After using this product and the concealer, I am now obsessed with Tarte. I already bought their amazonian clay lipstick & bronzer and i plan on purchasing more from this line because i know i can depend on the products, they truly say what they're going to do and work so well on my less than perfect skin.
I am upset that I haven't tried Tarte sooner. I did not order this off of QVC, i just simply walked into my local sephora and picked it up. Great stuff.

I purchased this from QVC. I watched the models and the artist apply it and thought ok...it seems like a great product. It was a special puchase which included the application brush and product.
I have nothing but great things to say about this product. It is a full coverage foundation, which others that I have puchased are either cakey or dry and do not go on smoothly. This is so moist and easy to apply.
I actually went to repurchase this at Ulta and they were out, the SA made a suggestion that I should try another brand.... needless to say...I returned that with in 2 days and by then the Tarte 12 hour Amazonian Foundation was back in stock! I do use this when I really need full coverage it is my HG for full coverage, however I also do use the Tarte BB tinted 12 hour primer for days when I don't want to get too dolled up.
I like this product for the mere fact that it is full coverage, without drying out my skin. It covers the redness around my nose and cheeks. I start the application process from the nose and work my way out toward my jawbone. I use my MAC foundation brush to apply and then the Tarte bush (that is sold with this foundation) and buff, (in a circular motion) out any lines left when applying and to finish blending the product in to my skin.
My daughter, 20 tried to use the product. She claimed that it clogged her pores and make her break out. At the same time she was getting a facial and trying out a new skin care line. So it could of been anything that would of caused the break out.
However, I do recomend taking the extra time to clean your face at the end of the day. This stuff last and stays on strong. I set mine with fine translucent powder in the morning and the powder again in the afternoon just in my t-zone area. It is an oil free product, but my skin does get oily as the day goes on.
I would recomend this to anyone that would like to cover sun damage, redness and other flaws or imperfections.

This stuff feels really nice to put on. Thats a first for me since I've been using drugstore foundations that are quite dreadful. I tried this in a little 40$ kit with maracuja oil and mascara. Whether or not I'll pay 50$ for a fullsize is iffy (canadian prices suck) but it matches my skin (Fair) and stays on well depending on the primer (Smashbox photofinish) since it can dry and flake off, but that could also be the canadian weather. The coverage was impressive for me, since most blemishes I get are minor. For severe cases this might not do it.

I read a lot of good reviews of this foundation online. I have a lot of problems on my face. I have a lot of redness especially on my forehead and nose. My cheeks and nose also tend to be very oily. I also have a genetic disease which gave me a red, bumpy rash on my cheeks and chin. I've had it since birth, but it makes me incredibly self-conscious. I've tried numerous foundations. I've tried everything from super cheap to almost every mid-priced department store brand (Maybelline, Cover Girl, Almay, Avon, Mary Kay) and even a couple of higher end foundations (Clinique) but I have the same issue with all of them. They look great when I first apply them, but after a very short time (usually 4 hours or less) it is pretty much gone. The shine and redness come back. Even mid-priced brands that claim to last 16 hours or more don't last all day for me. When I read the reviews for this product, honestly I was skeptical. At $38.00, it is also more than I'm used to spending on foundation. I didn't want to commit to a full-sized tube when I wasn't even sure I was going to like the foundation. I got a free sample at Sephora. I was matched the the Light/Medium shade which was spot on.
When I first started using this foundation, I loved it. The coverage was great, and it lasted until I took it off at night. So I did end up buying a full-sized tube. But the longer I used this product, the less I liked it. This definitely gives you full-coverage. A little bit goes a really long way. I also wasn't crazy about the texture of this make-up. It's somewhere between a cream and a liquid, but it's not really either one. I also found it very frustrating to apply evenly. I would have some areas where there wasn't enough coverage, and other areas where there was too much. I applied it with a foundation brush, and with my fingers, but that didn't help matters much at all. Also, when this foundation dries it turns very cakey and powdery. I am 36 and am starting to develop some fine lines on my forehead. I never really noticed them until I started using this make-up. This make-up made my very minor fine-lines stand out big time! It also rubs off very easily. One day I was a store trying on shirts. I was wearing a turtleneck and a tee-shirt. When I took them off, I noticed foundation all over the inside of my turtleneck. At first, I didn't think coverage would be a issue, but as I used it I discovered it was. I would have patches on my face where it was flaking off. Not exactly attractive.
I did use up the sample I had been given, but I realized I had been hasty in purchasing a full-sized tube. After giving a lot of thought, I decided to return the full-sized tube. I would suggest getting a free sample of this foundation FIRST and using it for at least a week before you commit to a full-sized tube. I've decide this product just isn't right for me. I feel more comfortable with a liquid foundation. So I've decided to see if I can find a full-coverage liquid foundation instead. I have a couple of other products I would like to try, hopefully one of those will work out better for me.

This is currently the best foundation I've ever used. I want to label it as HG, but I'm not sure if I should or not. I have EXTREMELY oily skin along with very sensitive that I didn't develop until a few years ago, and I finally found something that I can relax about. I hate trying foundations because they never stay on me. On my days off I'm usually ok, but I work as an assistant manager in a retail store for long days and not only do I move around a lot, but I don't have time to go touch up. I'll have 12 hour days and this stays on very close to what it was when I first applied it. I do have to set it with powder, but I've been noticing that with other foundations I've had to do the same, so that might just what it has to be, but it's really no big for me. I can use this without a setting powder just fine, just doesn't last me the entire day, but does longer than any other I've tried. Very great coverage, covers all my redness and uneven skin tone. I have both pinks and yellows in my skin and it does a great job of blending in flawlessly. It kind of stains my skin when putting it on, I put a blob out on the back of my hand then dip my Sephora 56 brush in it and if I don't wipe it off afterward, it leaves it's mark, LOL. This is similar to Revlon Colorstay, which was my fave until I started to get sensitive skin and then the CS started to break me out :( I can see someone with dry skin or someone who only needs light to medium coverage not liking this, this is one of those foundations that only fits a small spectrum of customers, but I am seriously grateful for this!! I feel like I have to knock-on-wood, because if I like a product on here, it usually turns crappy for some odd reason... This will be my foundation from now on however.
EDIT: Looking at Sephora.com, I honestly am shocked I paid so much for makeup, I would never do that normally, but to me it's way more than worth it, and seeing me as I bought it a while back and I've made a small dent in it, it's going to last me quite a while.

I used this through the summer months last yr. This winter I switched to something more moisutizing.. My skin has done well over the winter! I will continue using up what I have this summer but don't know if I will purchase again. It is kind of picky about what is paired with it or it will ball up. The brush just did not work for application for me, Love it, but not for that, I use a sponge to apply. I also have to use a primer. I think I will look for something more simple to put on.
