This is a very pretty light warm brown. Not much shimmer to it, goes on fairly matte. NYX shadows are not highly pigmented so you probably need to build up a few layers of this. A great natural looking shadow for daytime. Lasts 3-4 hours. Pretty inexpensive.

I think this color would definitely suit warm-toned lovelies. It's a warm medium brown with a tawny, coppery gold sheen. Unfortunately, it's a tad warm for my neutral-leaning-warm skin, and tends to show up with a distinct orange cast. Not very pretty on me; orangey golds just make me look sallow. As with all NYX single shadows, the color payoff is incredible and the shadow itself feels buttery smooth to the fingertip and spreads evenly on the lids, whether with a brush or fingers. However, on my super oily lids, the shadow creases within 4 hours over UDPP (I find this is true with all NYX shadows I've tried). I do have extra oily lids, but for that reason, I'm docking a point.

I've read some lists that report that Utopia Gold is a dupe for Urban Decay's Gridlock, which was available solely in the Book of Shadows I. Admittedly, Gridlock is my most-loved and treasured shadow and the dupe report is the reason why I rushed to buy Utopia Gold, so disappointment tinges this portion of my review (does not reflect on my overall rating of the product itself). Nevertheless, I still have to say for the record that Utopia Gold--although a pretty color--is nowhere near a dupe for Gridlock. Under normal nighttime bathroom lighting and under flash, the colors look pretty dupe-ish tone-wise. Gridlock has a more metallic sheen, whereas Utopia Gold is more pearly. However, under both natural and bathroom daytime lighting, Gridlock is distinctly different tone-wise, showing up as a brown taupe with the tiniest hint of silver on me. Also, the lack of a metallic sheen makes a difference to me, as it gives Gridlock that special glow that Utopia Gold sadly lacks in comparison. The hunt for a Gridlock dupe continues! (Please just make my life easier and re-release it as a single, Urban Decay--Sidecar's glitter is just not cutting it for me!)

I took a lippie off only because the shadow isn't packed firmly in the pan and it crumbled in the post. The color is absolutely gorgeous!! Lovely warm golden medium brown that is a great crease color for me. I agree that the color isn't represented very well by the name or internet store swatches. Love this and will continue using my poor broken little shadow until it's all gone!

i like it..
The gold color is good. Not too goldy, not too yellow, not too bright... it's fix with any other brownish color. And it's pigmented, stay long on my eyelid (especially if i use e/s primer on it)
And the texture is velvety yet smooth.. just like it...

Utopia Gold is a very pretty warm, medium, golden brown. To me, I didn't notice any gold in this shadow. So, once again, the eye shadow name did not match the actual color, and the Internet doesn't represent the actual color either.

I have been on a never ending search for the perfect brown eye shadow. I own about 10 to 15 brown NYX shadows, and none of them are anywhere near my favorite. However, I will say that after my never ending search for the perfect brown shadow, Utopia Gold is one of the prettiest, and may be my favorite. My brown eye shadow search must be over, because my DH has me on a budget or what you all call a "no buy"...
