I got a sample of this most likely from a gift with purchase. I rediscovered it in my drawer recently and really like it! I'm going to buy the full size when I run out. It helps to give my straight lashes a bit of curl and a lot of length and volume.

I'll start out by saying that I completely adore the packaging. It's sleek and definitely elegant; it makes me feel pretty sophisticated whenever I use it.

That being said, I was really disappointed by this mascara's performance on my lashes. I have short and straight eyelashes and I was hoping this mascara would give me a nice boost in the volume and length department but it didn't do much at all. It barely gave me any length and I got some decent volume but it came with clumps. I'm pretty careful in applying mascara given my eye shape but this mascara will give you clumps. The brush itself looks pretty standard to me. The formula is very wet and it doesn't wear well in my opinion. I didn't get too much smearing after hours of wear. I will say that you can build up this mascara; it's smooth in my opinion but I don't notice layering being that effective. Also my lashes did not feel stiff with this mascara and still felt fairly soft, which was nice. However, the cost definitely does not begin to justify the mediocre to poor performance. Finding my HG mascara is still a elusive journey for me :(

Bottom line: Avoid this if you have short/straight lashes or dislike very wet formulas. I didn't enjoy this and there's a lot more affordable and effective mascaras out there.

I received a mini version of it as a gift from Estee Lauder. I really like the brush and it makes my eyelashes look great.

This mascara changed my life! Totally my HG.
First of all, my lashes somehow became longer. I don't know how, but after using this mascara, they became longer and thicker. I don't even need lash curler anymore.
Secondly, the price is not that high, because you get amazing effect. I don't have waterproof one, but it doesn't smudge or run off. Stays in place all day long even when it is humid and very hot outside. And it doesn't make my eyes red (I have very sensitive eyes).
Finally, the brush is excellent. You will get long and thick lashes all the time. My technique is to use curler first and then apply mascara, but looking to lashes from the bottom, using left-to-right motion. It's hard to explain, but you should get what I mean.
I would really recommend this Estee Lauder mascara!

The best mascara ever! Long, full lashes, comfortable to wear as my eyes are extremely allergic. I wear contacts too. I hope they never DC.

Makes my lashes longer and beautiful when just applied but what does it matter when it does not take long until it is all smudged under my eyes. To me staying powder is number one priority. It comes before lenghtening and volumizing. I use my bike to get around here in the Netherlands and the summers can be humid and hot and winters rainy so I need my mascara to be very smudge proof. The best mascara that I have used until this day is Kanebo Sensai 38 degrees mascara. Even tho it does not make my lashes huge it really lasts through heat and rain. This one is expensive I believe but I purchsed this in a small size but I will never buy the full size. I am only writing this review to remind myself.

This is one of the worst mascaras I've ever had. I have naturally long eyelashes so I need something that makes them look fuller and not necessarily longer. This mascara does its lengthening job perfectly but fails to have any sort of volumzing effect, it even devolumizes my eyelashes by making them stick together and look more sparse. I have tried brushing them through afterwards with no result...thus a No buy it again for me.

GWP. Love it. I normally use L'oreal but it can get goopy and flake. Not EL. Love.

I can't really comment on price because this was a free gift with a magazine, however I know it is a fairly pricey brand and that's one of the reasons for my low score.

The first thing I thought when I used this was that it was exactly like Maybelline Full n Soft. I've used it 3 times now and I still think it's just like Full n Soft. This gives a fairly natural look. I have good eyelashes and had to use two coats to make much impact. Even then, I used a third coat just on the outer edges of my upper lashes to add a bit of oomph.

The good:

Leaves lashes feeling soft and in good condition. Buildable and doesn't tend to make the lashes go spidery or clumpy.

The bad:

Overpriced for something that does the same job as Maybelline Full n Soft.

Overall Verdict: Really only for people who have decent lashes to begin with. This really doesn't have the wow factor that the word sumptuous brings to mind.

This is only for those with perfect, long, lush lashes. This completely weighed my lashes down and made them look spidery and way too gloopy, I was better off without it. Hence I don't recommend this if you have short, weak, sparse or asian lashes. There are a myriad of products out there that are so much better and so much cheaper. I like most Maybeline mascaras over this. This went straight into the trash. Please try before you buy.
