This is the first product i used when i heard og loccitane. I did not like it at all. Like all the other reviews as soon as i put my make up it started to flake. So i gave up and went back to dermalgica. Then i decided to go back to the tge precious range and i loved it. But i found its very rich for the summer. So i thought id try brightening cream again and to my amazement when u put serum on underneath and use a good foundation eg mac its dont flake and its amazing and works best in summer. It gives me a glow. Dont use ut witb body shop foundation as that also flakes. So i am glad i gave it a second go.

This cream is only good for night use in my opinion. Can't be used as a day moisturizer under make-up. It flakes off when i apply my foundation on top of it. other than that, it has a really nice smell. very hydrating to the skin too. my skin feels nice and plump the next morning when i apply it at night. however i have to use a different moisturizer under my make-up. brightening wise, i do not see much effect. im using the immortelle brightening serum along with this too. i have used this for a few months now at night and i see no difference. a disappointment, considering it's price.

NOOOOOO!! I am so surprised by the low ratings this product is getting ! IT"S FABULOUS ! Just to give you a brief history - I have uneven skin tone and freckles, but rarely get pimples and break outs and I have been searching for a 'even-tone' and 'brightening' product since the dawn of time. I have tried everything from Neostrata, Dr. Brandt, Murad, Estee Lauder, to Clinque just to name a few and have even done IPL once to even out my skin and fade my freckles. This is one of the only products (along with the Immortelle brightening serum) that i've used that's actually given me VISIBLE results from the first use! It probably won't fade my freckles, but boy does my skin look brightened and smooth.
Like the others have said, it is a gel-like texture and it's very refreshing upon application. I can't testify the flaking as I only use this at night. The smell is fresh and a bit herbal like which is similar to all the other L'Occitane immortelle lines. For those with dry skin types, you may need an additional moisturiser as it's very light and soaks into your skin straight away, leaving your skin matt to the touch. For me, as Australia is now entering winter, i just add couple drops of either Argon Oil skin serum and/or Rose Hip oil on top, and i wake to the smoothest and even looking skin.

Would I buy it again? HELL YEAH!!

This cream has a gel-like texture once applied. It is pleasantly fragranced and has a light texture.
I tried it in the hope that it might freshen my complexion. Unfortunately I found the reports about 'flaking' or 'peeling' were true for me as well. The finish remains in tact if you don't apply anything on top of your moisturiser. But if you are going to wear, say primer and/or foundation on top, it seems to peel off the surface of your skin in little white flecks. I thought initially that my skin must be dry and it was actually my skin flaking off (which would be very unusual), but i began to realise that it was the moisturiser itself.
I reverting to using this cream only at night so that this problem would be such an issue. After about a month I began to break out. Such a shame. Definitely not for me.

I did break out from this a wee bit, but after a few days my face felt brilliant, and even though I have only been using this product for 2 weeks, I find it delightful. The texture on my skin when the product dries is a cool feeling. What has it helped so far... the texture and tone of my skin, I finally have an even tone again, using this has also helped with my slight redness after a shower, I no longer have that problem. Overall, all I can say is Thank you L'occitane and Olivier Baussan!

My skin type is sensitive, with a combination to oily skin type. I'm occasionally acne-prone (the odd spot now and again or one clogged pore now and again). I wanted a change of moisturizer, suspecting that my old (and discarded) face cream had been breaking me out. The Immortelle Brightening Moisture Cream was recommended by a sales assistant, although she did warn me that the cream was 'rich' with essential oils and that a breakout might be expected due to the lack of oils in my skin, which to be honest, doesn't make much sense to me since my face wasn't dry at the time, but hydrated and dewy looking, save for the mildly shiny t-zone with no active spots and a smooth complexion. I've been using this a week, and had to stop using it yesterday. The cream goes on smoothly, and gives a matte appearance at first, but does not last very long if you have oily skin. It is moisturizing, although it doesn't feel like it's moisturizing you at all - possibly down to all the silica in the product, which gives the skin a sort of smooth but dehydrated feeling? I used it that very evening, went to bed, woke up and saw several clogged pores and inflamed white heads of differing sizes. Stunned, I thought ok, then by the 2nd and 3rd day, large sore whiteheads appeared on my usually clear cheeks! I thought surely I was mistaken, it must be my fault, what junk did I eat recently? (Absolutely none as I eat very healthily). So I stuck with it until the 7th day and my face was getting worse and more irritated by the day, so I stopped using it yesterday morning and instead used an oil free moisturizer I had on backup in the fridge :]. And this was the result: having ditched the Immortelle Brightening Moisture Cream and substituted it for a mild oil-free moisturizer, my breakouts stopped dead in their tracks almost immediately, and the red patches of irritated whiteheads and skin near my nose calmed down. This morning, I woke up and those clogged pores and whiteheads have either disappeared or dried up. I definitely will not be buying this again. Although the product states that it is non comedogenic i.e. won't clog pores, that does not mean oil free or free of other ingredients that might irritate the skin. Might not be suitable for combination to oily or sensitive and acnegenic skin types; this item is marketed for use by mature ladies with wrinkles :O

Edit: Found this info on cosmeticsdatabase.com on one of the ingredient listed - 'Benzyl Salicylate is an ester of benzyl alcohol and salicylic acid; this ingredient has been associated with allergies and contact dermatitis'.

I have normal-oily skin and was a bit doubtful about this product at first but it worked for me :) Despite it's titled "moisture cream", this has a gel-like feel on your skin when you apply it, quickly-absorbed and has a light aromatic scent. It doesn't cause my skin to be greasy and provides just the right amount of moisture. It doesn't become flaky afterward (maybe because of the climate difference). After several weeks, I did notice my face looked more radiant, bright and supple. In the morning I apply it before the immortelle brightening shield and at night on top of the essence. It doesn't clog pores or cause acnes. I also love the fact that it's natural-origin (not harsh on my skin), not tested on animals and organic. The price is average for a product that contains extracts of rare flowers :) I don't recommend it for those with dry or normal-dry skin combo because you may need heavier ones. Overall, I love this product for the fresh feeling, friendly with my oily-prone skin, moist without overdoing it and contains natural ingredients. Worth buying for.

Don't take me wrong, but normally I love L'Occitane's Immortelle line, in particular the Immortelle Precious Cream that is soft like whipped cream. But in this case, I am very disappointed with their Immortelle Brightening Moisture Cream which is a gel formula cream. It is supposed to be used during the morning and evening, however the first thing is that the texture is very light. And the problem here is that after it supposedly dries, the cream then "FLAKES" when touched just 2 minutes later after application!!! It does not absorb thoroughly into the skin like Precious Cream or even the Shea Butter Ultra Rich Face Cream (which in cold winter weather is far better than the precious cream). Well, I won't be buying the Immortelle Brightening Moisture Cream anymore. The brightening serum is good enough and works better than this moisture cream.
