A favourite foundation of mine. PROS: Covers everything and everything. Looks quite natural for a full coverage foundation. Easy to apply and blend. Only a small amount is needed. CONS: Transfers quite easily (needs to be set with powder). Staying power isn't as good as normal double wear. NOTES: I use my beauty blender or fingers to apply this. Fingers get a bit messy. I use this for moments when I want full coverage, but won't be out for as long such as dates, work meetings, ect. This may last longer on a person with less oily skin. I would definitely suggest this foundation to a person who is after a foundation that will cover.

I wish I discovered this in my teens, when I had really bad acne that made me very self conscious. No wonder this is a staple in Charlotte Tilbury's kit, I'm considering adding it to mine as well.
In a nutshell: covers ANYTHING and still looks natural, even in daylight. It's very longlasting and can be also just mixed into another foundation for added coverage. I like to do a first layer with a more natural foundation first (currently Urban Decay Naked Skin) and then go back with this one on problem areas. I do have acne and some post hyperpigmentation and after using this I don't need concealer.
I would recommend to keep your skin decently exfoliated to maximize the wear and the smooth finish.

What a thick foundation. Its great for covering age spots, blemishes and scars, even on your body. I will not be repurchasing as it is way too heavy and cakey. Great for stage actors, but not for everyday life.

I'm not rating this product as a foundation, because that is not how I use it. As a full coverage concealer (for acne/scarring, not for undereyes) Maximum Cover has been truly remarkable for me and I am very happy that I found it. It wears like iron and it covers better than any concealer I have ever used (Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage, Hard Candy Glamoflauge, Physicians Formula Conceal Rx). My only gripe is that the lightest shade is still a touch too dark for my N12 skin, but it isn't noticeable enough to the point where I'd stop using it. If you need a heavy duty, full coverage, long wearing concealer, I highly recommend this.

Oh gracious, where do I start. Okay. I used this for two days in a row, trying to work with it. The first day I applied too much, so that's on me. The second day, though, I was exceedingly careful and thorough with my application, using miniscule amounts and blending/buffing well. The finish of this foundation was definitely heavy and cakey. Furthermore, it settled into every pore and line. Even after I powdered, the stuff migrated in a very unflattering way to accentuate the worst of my complexion. Additionally, before too long, I had oily breakthrough like you wouldn't believe.

In short, this foundation made my skin look *terrible*. Too bad, I really wanted to like it.

WORST foundation I have ever tried. I REALLY wanted to like this foundation but ugh while it did cover EVERYTHING that's pretty much where the pros end. It's ridiculously cakey. Accentuates flakes like nobody's business and doesn't even control oil very well or last long. And the color selection is AWFUL. It was too dark and pink and yet somehow still manage to make me look like a ghost. Anything lighter than that would make me look transparent.

This is the best foundation for me! It's a very full coverage which I love yet feels really light and smooth on your skin :) It is one of those foundation where a little goes a LONG way! It is an expensive foundation but you only use a very small amount for your whole face so it lasts months (and I wear mine very heavy!) the colour selection is very good and I don't find myself having to reapply very much during the day at all... It is very long lasting! I really don't have one bad thing to say about this foundation...this is my perfect foundation! It doesn't make my skin dry or breakout!

This is one of the few full-coverage foundations out there that I’ve been able to find. It doesn’t completely camouflage my melasma, but then again, I don’t think anything will. It does a great job though. I took off one star for the limited color choices. I would say that’s the one thing I don’t like about it. I use the lightest shade, but it’s just a tad dark and yellow for me (although maybe the yellow is what makes it so good at covering things up). I also like that it’s not drying, like many of the other full-cover foundations out there, like EL’s Double Matte, which has fantastic coverage but dries my face out if I wear it every day. I like the tube packaging too.

I can't judge this as a foundation as I haven't tried it as one, but as a concealer, well, it pretty much rocks! I use this on my acne scars under my foundation (MAC Face& Body/Chanel Vitalumiere/Aqua) those are my 3 day/night ones. It stays put, it covers like a dream, it's not thick or gloopy but somehow it manages to just camouflage them! Magical, i wouldn't recommend for under eye but as an acne concealer, this and mac studio finish are the ones! I use this at night as its no SPF and translates great on camera and MAC in the day for sun protection. If you are going to use it as concealer, it will last forever which justifies the price for me :)

a little goes a long way - it doesn't cover my acne marks as well as my Lycogel (but then again my marks are pretty dark as i have brown-ish skin) but i actually quite love this product. putting some green concealer underneath helps heaps. by far my second favourite after the lycogel and doesn't make it me break out.

The best full coverage foundation ever!

At first I hesitate between this one and Laura Mercier Silk Creme and I choose EL finally. I have terrible oily skin, full of acne scars, super large pore, so the foundation that I look for is only the full coverage. The general light foundation on the market today is nothing on my face. I used to use Revlon Colorstay (old formula) which provided full coverage but so thick and broke me out crazy, Revlon Colorstay whipped which cast on my face during the day, people know my face was covered with paint and it didn't cover acne scars enough, and the last one Vichy Dermablend gave me full coverage but didn't last all day, it washed off, the nude shades (25) looked orange and most important it sinked into pores.

EL Max Cover gives me the look like Vichy, matt and cover well, but the consistency is better, high pigment so little goes a long way. It dries very fast and I think mixed with some moisturizers is better. It doesn't sink into my large pores and last all day. I love this foundation very much as I have bad skin so I'm very pleased with this one but for someone who has good skin may not satisfy with this foundation because of the coverage quality.

I was having a problem with cystic acne and its all cleared up now except for the occasional breakout every now and then. When I do breakout after it clears up it leaves a dark spot that eventually fades away. I went to the EL counter looking for a concealer that would cover up those scars and any other imperfections. Instead of a concealer the woman recommended this. She said a lot of clients use this as a concealer. She tried it on I and I loved it. Basically I put on my primer then I put this on wherever I need heavy coverage. It is a matte finish . Covers up VERY well and it doesn't feel heavy at all. Also it stays put ALL day. After this I put on very light foundation just to even everything out. This makes my skin look flawless. I really could not imagine using this all over my face though. Would definitely buy again. This is my HG concealer/makeup for scars and imperfections.

I love the tube it looks so classy and it really easy to use. Always fits in the make-up bag too! But, I have awful acne and oily skins and it stay put perfectly all day. I don't understand how people can use this as a foundation all over the face its simply way too thick for even the worse skin like mine (is so spotty). It feels heavy, it's a nighttime make up when u need extra heavy. I like full coverage but this feel discusting all over the face and looks very fake, and t transferred everywhere?! I love this however under my eyes and as a concealer on imperfections (spots ect.) I like full coverage but I find this looks very dull, fake and Cakey on myself and others as a foundation. It's water resistant so this stuff is great for concealer but drys out even the oilyest skin which causes more oil , more spots. It's too thick and I don't like the look. Wayyyy to fake and Cakey great as a concealer due to its consistency an coverage.

Amazing coverage, although I do preferred the discontinued version which I managed to get my hands on browsing through eBay. This product literally last me around 9 months! Although it is rather pricey at around £26 it's worth the money as it last so long and the quality of the foundation is outstanding!

Fave foundation. I have combination skin and also very sensitive skin- this product does not make me break out- unlike the other estee lauder foundations. Great staying power- stays put all day and looks flawless all day even over an acne flair up. You feel like a magazine cover model when you leave the house because it sets so well under powder too- gives you an airbrushed feel. I get sick and tired of cheaper brands that slide off and dont offer the coverage. A little goes a LONG way as well- the one I have has lasted nearly 3 months so its actually in the long run more cost effective. Dont even need a concealer for this. Mix with a moisturizer if you're needing a lighter coverage. This one is also waterproof- as I learned when I was jumping up and down at a concert and my face stayed flawless.

ONLY con is that is slightly transferable if you pull a jumper off over your head you must be careful as it will get onto your clothes. But for all the pros, ladies this one is a keeper. Make sure you blend well as it looks funny if you slap it on in the wrong light.

I had heard about Double Wear Maximum Cover from a friend of mine who is a makeup artist and likes it to cover scarring and tattoos. Since I have a lot of scarring and rosacea, I wanted to check it out. I read all the reviews here on Makeup Alley and followed the directions of using a tiny amount, working in sections, using a stippling brush, and making sure I was moisturized. Like many others, the coverage of this foundation for the discolorations on my skin was flawless. Unfortunately, after a week I found it was too drying and actually started creating more wrinkles in my skin. YIKES! If I used more moisturizer it would just turn into an oily mess. YUCK! I then tried the Double Wear Regular. I had to layer it on to get even a little coverage and the color was a little off. It also had no staying power. About half way through the day it was wearing off and I had to start layering concealer all over my face. I ended up with two foundations I couldn't use, so I decided to mix them together and WOW IT WORKED!!!! I got the full coverage of the Maximum Cover and the smoothness of the Regular. It did not budge all day and I still looked flawless when I got home from work. This also solved my slightly off color match. When I mixed them together I got the perfect shade. I recommend that you go to the counter and ask for some samples in colors close to yours. I got samples of the Maximum Cover in creamy vanilla and very light, and the Double Wear Regular in Ivory Nude. After applying wait for it to set, because the Maximum Cover makes the foundation dry a little lighter than it looks right away, and then check the color in various lights (indoor, sunlight, fluorescent). The perfect combo for me was Maximum Cover Very Light and Double Wear Regular in Ivory Nude, followed with a touch of Double Wear Ivory Nude powder. After years of searching I have finally found my Holy Grail makeup!!

I want to start by saying that I have terrible skin - acne, blotchiness etc. This product was recommended to me by a friend, and I'm so very glad she did! It has changed my life (I know this sounds extremely overdramatic but for anyone who has acne you will know what I mean!). It covers up EVERYTHING. Granted, it is somewhat mask like in that it is very thick, but if you have really bad skin this is the only foundation which will guarantee to cover it up completely.

Pros - *Lasts all day *You only need to apply a small amount so the product is very long lasting *Coverage is fantastic *Despite its thickness, it looks very natural and airbrushed-esque *Lovely packaging

Cons - *I am very pale, but the lightest colour is slightly too light and the shade above is slightly too dark - possibly need to buy the two and blend which is a bit of a nuisance *It is not cheap (but you get what you pay for) *Must be carefully applied so as not to look "cake faced" - I guess you could blend with a nice moisturizer if need be.

Every girl with problem skin needs this bad boy in their make up bag! ;)

I think this is the best foundation for covering blemishes and scars [if you accidentally picked!!]. It didn't break me out. I had first tried Mac foundation which completely broke me out. Then I switched to Laura Mercier which looked too cakey and wiped off so fast! This foundation does not wipe off, at least not for 12 hours at least ! It does look cakey if you don't blend it in. Just a little bit is needed! This foundation gives me exactly what I've been looking for!

I have been using this foundation for about two years. However i wouldnt dare to put it on my face without mixing it with another, lighter foundation as it makes my face look like im wearing a mask. It is cakey, the colour range is just horrible, none of the colours suit me therefore i use it in the lightest shade and mix it with a darker shade light foundation to balance it out. I dont agree with some reviewers saying it hasnt got coverage, because it does, i have bad acnee scarring and afer my foundation routine you cant tell that i do amd i dont use any concealer, so i do think it does have maximum coverage, but i highly recommend mixing a pea size amount of it with another foundation to not end up looking ill and caked on.

I purchased this foundation after coming across it in my search for a natural, yet full coverage, water resistant foundation for an upcoming vacation. I was a little wary of the "maximum coverage" label because I hate the "mask face" look and heavy feel that full coverage makeup usually presents. I am so happy I relied on the good reviews, and ignored the bad, and took a chance on this product. It takes a lot to impress me when it comes to makeup and I have to be either really impressed or really disappointed to be prompted to write a review. In this case, I was very impressed.
.
I use loose, mineral powder foundation daily and I love the finish and coverage it offers me but I wanted to find something with water resistant properties for an upcoming vacation that was quick to apply, provided spf, offered me great coverage and that still looked natural. I have yet to test the "waterproof" claims of this product but I plan to update once I have. I have light/medium, sensitive, acne prone skin riddled with acne scars, and hyper pigmentation left over from recently healed blemishes and I am very self conscious of my skin without makeup. This product gave me the illusion of perfect skin I can only dream of having.
.
I have read reviews that say this product is heavy or cakey and I didn't find that in my experience. I think the key is to make sure you prime and that you don't apply it too heavily. I used an amount about the size of a small, un-shelled peanut, slightly larger than a pea, for my whole face. My skin has a tendency to get oily so I generally don't moisturize before I apply my regular foundation so I didn't with this either. What I did instead was put some moisturizer on the pads of my fingers and rubbed them together to distribute the moisture between them, then I picked up a little bit of foundation and applied it to my primed face with my fingertips. I found that putting moisturizer on my fingers helped apply the foundation smoothly and easily without greasing my face up. To me, this foundation sort of has a powdery feel as it dries which is velvety and soft on my skin. For me, using this method, it doesn't feel heavy and doesn't look like I have caked my face on which is something that is VERY important to me. It does dry really fast so you have to work quickly and in sections to avoid building up too much product in one area. I did find that the foundation did want to stick to a few dry patches on my skin and it wanted to crease in my under eye area but I have yet to find a product that doesn't. Those are really my only complaints with it at this point, though. My t-zone did get a little shiny about halfway through the day but I have yet to find anything that resists that completely so a touch with oil blotting sheets and some spot correction were all I needed to refresh. It lasted all day and still looked good when I went to take it off.
.
It covers my skin flawlessly and makes my acne scars virtually disappear with just one thin layer, it gives me the skin I wish I had without makeup. It even looks good in day light which is a true test for me with all my makeup, it's not obvious and it looks like my skin but better. I cannot express enough in words how much better it made me feel about my skin, I am so impressed with the natural, yet full coverage it offers. I don't like how it wanted to stick to my dry patches but that's something I can deal with as they are only temporary from healing blemish spots. I can see myself using this foundation on days when I want a "no makeup" look but still want to cover my skin's imperfections. My mom complimented how nice my skin was looking at the end of the day and she didn't know I was wearing makeup! I am interested to see how it performs against the sun and Florida humidity when I go on vacation but I hope for the best because I am pleased so far. If you want full coverage and a natural look, I would give this a try.
.
I probably wouldn't recommend it for very dry skin but if you have combination skin, like me, it could be a good fit for you. I have light/medium skin and I got this in Cream Ivory Light which is the slightest bit yellow for my complexion but it's a pretty close match. My apologies for the long winded review but I always like reading reviews with a lot of details before I shell out money for a product so hopefully this is helpful to someone!
