Medium-full coverage, long-lasting. This stuff comes in a bottle (which could annoy some) but I think the packaging's intended to make users aware of the amount of foundation being used. Also, this stuff dries fast. Use your time efficiently to blend. Little can go a long way in my experience; it didn't take a lot to cover my acne and blemishes.

However, as much as I controlled the amount of foundation on my skin, it essentially broke me out. I use this stuff everyday for work and you could see the tiny bumps that it caused under the light. Trust me, it was A LOT of tiny bumps. Also, although it was long lasting, it still felt a bit heavy at the end of the day especially since I live in a very humid country.

Overall, a good liquid foundation, but not compatible for my acne-prone/ combination skin.

3.8/5

I read reviews and this was voted the best for full coverage. So I paid £13 for it and I hate it. The coverage is medium. It's sticky and it's unbuildable. I have acne scars and I have medium coverage foundations that give better coverage that this one. I was so disappointed. I thought I would finally find a decent foundation. I was wrong. And now £13 is down the drain.

Okay, I have the oiliest skin possible. By noon most days my foundation is starting to look pretty meh and and that draws attention to my trouble spots (I tend to break out around my chin). I read a bunch of reviews of Revlon Colorstay and when it went on sale at my CVS I thought "Why not?". First day I thought I had found a miracle product. I won't say it lasted all day and totally prevented shine, but it was a HUGE improvement. Day 2 I was less impressed. I started to get small clogged pores on my chin which is weird for me - usually I have perfect skin texture with 1-3 bigger zits - I never get clogged pores and rarely get smaller pimples. All of those clogged pores turned into small whiteheads that took a week to go away. I threw this in the trash immediately. Keep in mind, I do NOT have sensitive skin. I have never broken out from any drugstore makeup before either. If your skin can handle the pore-clogging effect, I think this is a great product, but if you are even a little bit acne prone beware! Also this is definitely a product for "full coverage" - if you want the natural look stay away because this can look a little bit cake-y (which I what I want, since my skin needs full coverage).

My local drugstore was having a great sale on Revlon and I wanted to try my first longwear foundation, so I picked up ColorStay for normal/dry skin. The color range was nice and I found a good match with Nude. Once home, I tried a swatch on the back of one hand; it stayed on through several handwashings and even washing dishes without gloves. Tenacious! The next day I tried out a full face. My cheeks felt sort of warm all day, and I could feel the makeup tightening and pulling on my face. When I washed it off that evening (I used my daily cream cleanser -- twice, just to be sure I got it all off) my face felt raw; when I put on my nightly moisturizer, it BURNED! Into the trash ColorStay went.

What a wonderful shade... awesome coverage.... stays put... is matte but unfortunately after owning a bunch of foundations... this one wasn't for me. I have red acne prone skin that gets oily in the T zone but is somehow dry. I didn't put much of this foundation on but when I did put it on.... oh boy I felt like I was definitely wearing plastic or something on my face. Maybe because this is full coverage type? Definitely not for me, but I can definately see other people raving about it. I switched to Mac face and body now.... gonna give that a try.

I've always had trouble finding a good foundation because of my fair complexion; they always tend to look too orange-y or dark. I saw this one (I believe I have it in 'Buff') and it looked like it would be a perfect match. It was! I do find that this is a bit of a heavy duty foundation and since I don't need a lot of coverage (just for some redness around my nose, really), so I mix this 1 part foundation and 2 parts moisturizer and it works GREAT! Better than any foundation or tinted moisturizer I've ever used. This is really great makeup, comes out of the bottle quite easily unlike some formulas with the same packaging. I suggest anyone who finds this too heavy to try mixing it with some moisturizer; it makes a huge difference! The only thing I don't care for is the packaging; would be much better with a pump. It's also not the cheapest (I think I paid $16 for mine) but I find it's worth it. I would repurchase for sure.

Whenever I need a full-coverage foundation, this is the one I use. You can start with a fairly light layer, then continue to build up to as much coverage as you need. This works best applied with a brush, definitely not fingers. Though there are a lot of shades for this product, I use the lightest one (Ivory) and it is still too dark for me so I have to blend it down my neck a bit (for reference I am MAC NW15). The finish is sort of satiny, almost matte. It lasts all day long, which is also a plus. This is a great drugstore foundation if you need full coverage and something long-wearing on a budget.

I'm not sure if I can describe the way this product works for me - but something is wrong cause on me it's definetly not full coverage. But it stays on really well on my oily skin. If I mix it with another foundation that's more liquidy it really helps with the blending and it also helps with the coverage. If I don't mix it with anything it's so hard for me to get it to blend nicely with my skin. But the staying power makes up for it! The color 150 buff matches well with my skintone(bb sand, Laura mercier cream ivory).

I have heard nothing but good things about colorstay. I bought the combination/oily skin I felt like it was hard to blend out and I felt like it didn't stay on for very long even with a primer. Only wore for two weeks and it broke my skin out.

I heard rave reviews about this product, that it was one of the best drugstore foundations. I am on a budget so I thought I'd try it. I just don't like the way it blends to begin with. I also hate when you can feel your foundations on your face like someone just slathered a sticky substance all over you. It looks pretty bad by the end of my work day. It does cover up well, but I just don't think it was compatible with my skin which is sensitive/combination.

Ladies and gentlemen, there's a reason why this foundation has reached cult status. Allow me to explain...it has the coverage of a concealer and the staying power of a stubborn mother-in-law's opinion.
But, like all that is good, there's a trick, or, learning curve if you will, to getting the hang of it.
First off, blend blend blend fast! Fast drying is the reason why it's so long lasting. As soon as it dries it will not budge no matter what.
And on that note, once it dries it's just about impossible to build coverage without the dreaded cakey face. So the pros down at Revlon came up with the full coverage idea. No concealer or layering necessary.
And I know it's been said a million times but my goodness is a pump ever necessary. If LA Colors can put a pump on their $1 (seriously) foundation then, surely, surely Revlon can do the same.
When all is said and done, it's a nice little foundation. It's my go to when a new, over-hyped foundation fails to deliver, or when I know I'm gonna need to look good under pressure. It delivers pretty darn well.

This stuff broke me out so bad in painful under the skin cysts.

Much like MAC pro long wear, its basically the same stuff, so if mac doesnt break you out GO FOR IT.

Pros:
>STAYS on all day
>There like 64789321 colors to choose from
>Totally affordable
>Total dupe of mac pro long wear
>Matte finish

Cons:
>WILL break out acne prone girls like myself out, although I have heard otherwise, I guess it wont hurt to try?
>Way way way to hard to get off skin
>Comes off on clothes
>Doesnt really ever completely dry
>Broke me out in the first day......lol

All in all, its totally worth a try.

Overall, this (the combination/oily skin one) is a great foundation that I will probably use for years to come. I wouldn't call it my HG, but it certainly comes close to being that!
I never had a good experience with foundation in the past, so when I decided I wanted to wear it again, I did my research before I bought anything, which led me to this. I like liquid foundation over anything else for sure and I find the consistency to be pretty good, maybe a tad runny, but I don't mind. I know the smell bothers some people and it actually reminds me of the smell of some paints I used to paint sets with when I was younger :P it brings back good memories though, but now you know it smells like paints used to decorate sets for plays. I find it to be pretty blendable though it does tend to get caught around any flakes of skin you may have, and sometimes I find that especially on my forehead it doesn't look great (it's like it's getting caught around flakes of skin, but there aren't any?), but using a primer before and a setting spray after really helps.
I do have acne prone skin and I was using this in the midst of my really bad breakouts and it actually helped me deal with them because it kept my hands away from my face, which was admittedly likely a large part of my breakouts, but for sure it never caused them.
I do find that I look a tad dewy even by mid-day, and for sure once I've gotten to the 10-12hrs after putting it on, my skin looks oily, but I don't really mind. That's never been a big deal for me. It definitely is not a matte all day foundation though, so if that's what you're looking for, you should probably pass this one by.
My one issue, and the reason I took off a lippie, is that I couldn't find the right colour and often ended up mixing Ivory and Buff together, and both were a tad too dark for me, through the winter anyway.
So in summary, good foundation, especially for the price! Would definitely recommend to anyone who wants to buy a DS foundation.

This review is for the normal/dry formula.

I use Colorstay a little differently than most. I find it to be too heavy for what my skin really needs (minor acne scarring and some surface redness in my cheeks) so I mix it with moisturizer (lately I've been using Timewise by Mary Kay but you can use anything) and then stipple it on with my Real Techniques Expert Face Brush. This gives me perfect coverage and, best of all, it doesn't cling to dry patches on my face. I wear this through sweaty double shifts and it doesn't budge. I take it off with micellar water and some sort of oil on a cotton pad at the end of the night just to thoroughly remove it. I highly recommend removing it with an oil based remover just to really break it down. They aren't kidding when they say this stuff lasts and lasts. I, like everyone else, wish it had a pump because I always dump too much out, but otherwise, I think this product is pretty top notch. It is a great value especially on sale or at Target where you can get it for as little as 10 dollars. I've tried lots of foundations and this one really has been the most consistently impressive.

Just bought this for the first time yesterday and I absolutely LOVE this!!!! This is my first time using a long wear foundation, and I have to say, it's amazing!!! I wear 225 natural beige (I'm an nw20) & suffer from acne scarring and redness. The coverage is unbelievable!!! I'm speechless! I love how it still looks like skin & doesn't feel heavy (if you don't apply too much). My new holy grail foundation!!!! Also: incredible oil control & transfer resistance. I'm super oily and had to blot my face twice the entire day.

I haven't worn a liquid foundation in over a decade, and I'd probably not be bothering if it hadn't been for Lisa Eldridge's video series.

I must say, I LOVE this stuff. It's fabulous. It gives great buildable coverage, the #400 Caramel is a perfect match for my NC 42 skin, and best of all it doesn't break me out nor does it turn into a gross oily soup on my face, as had been my previous experience with liquid foundation. I love that there's a separate formulation for Combo/Oily skin (although I still use this with a primer and setting powder).

The only bad thing is the packaging. It just comes in a screw topped bottle. It would be nice to have a pump.

This product does offer wonderful coverage. However, if you don't blend it in super fast, it'll dry in a matter of seconds and good luck trying to get it off. for my skin type, I wouldn't have expected this to dry me out but it really did way way too fast.

I hate the way my face feels after I apply it. It feels like superglue. I think it'd be a great foundation for those with extremely oily skin but steer clear if you have dry skin. This stuff is so hard to get off...it feels like spackle. I had to wash my face pretty hard 3 or 4 times just to get it off! I don't think i'd repurchase it but since this is the only foundation that covers my blemishes very well, I'm not left with much of a choice.

I'm 40 years old with combination skin. I bought the oily-combination skin product, but wish I had bought the dry skin product, as this flakes on my dry areas, even in humid weather. I bought the lightest shade which is usually what I have to do with most drug store foundations, and lo and behold, it is actually a tiny bit too light! I will probably do what some of the other reviewers have done and mix it with moisturizer for more blendability as I use up this bottle. May buy the dry skin formula in a shade darker.

I have 3 of the deepest shades available in the oily combination formula 's I have to sag I'm quite impressed. The formula is thick so a little goes a long way. I just wished that it came with some sort of pump so I won't use too much product. This has a lot of staying power. I just moisturize, prime, and apply my foundation with a little bit of Bare Essentials in medium deep and I'm good to go.

It now has a pump! (In Australia anyway). The formula has also changed, no more soft flex components.... but it's still the best long wearing foundation I can find. Pity it costs a crazy $35 in Australia... and they can keep charging that now because we get a pump. Boo!
