I am on my third tube of this product. It is priced at $52.00 (NZ) here in New Zealand so its a higher end product ( I buy from Mecca Cosmetica at Kirkcaldie and Stains). It is an excellent mascara. Not a particularly lengthening product, but it makes my lashes thick and lush, no clumping and best of all no smudging, smearing or wear. And I have tried more than a 100 mascaras on the market over a number of years (as I have problems with smearing and smudging) and this is the only mascara that has stayed put on my lashes instead of my face! I will continue to buy it. It doesn't dry out quickly in the tube, and with every day wear a tube lasts me about 2 months. One small thing is that it takes some doing to get off. I use good old petroleum jelly (Vaseline) and that does the trick.

I had such high hope on this mascara but it let me down I have to say..

It gives good length, holds the curl and defined my lashes but it smears after couple of hours, so it is a no for me.

This is my favorite mascara that I've tried so far. I love that the brush is not too big and it separates your lashes beautifully. It works great on the top and bottom lashes. The formula is slightly dry, but I enjoy this aspect since it helps keep your lashes separate and it's almost impossible to make them clumpy. This gives me a very natural look with 1-2 coats, or I can build it up slightly for a made-up (but still not dramatic) look. It stays put for the most part, though sometimes if I'm outside a long time it'll smudge under my lash line a little (I have very oily skin though).

I'm usually very hesitant to try out a high end mascara because I feel like the drugstore mascaras are just as good as anything in Sephora for 1/4 of the price. But I'd never seen so many people rave about a mascara before I came across the Hourglass Film Noir, so I had to give it a try. This mascara is 100% worth the hype. Like all high end mascaras the Hourglass Film Noir is grossly overpriced, but the product itself is lovely. The color is rich and black without being sooty or greasy looking. The formula is perfect--not too wet, not at all dry--and the brush is amazing. Again, I was hesitant at first because I've never had an hourglass shaped brush and I was unsure of how my lashes would react. But the brush is the perfect size and shape to coat, separate and define every single eyelash. On top of that, I haven't had to worry at all about mascara getting onto my eyelid or my browbone as I'm applying this, and I've never experienced any flaking or smudging throughout the day. I did take one lippie away because Hourglass claims that this will add volume, which is something I haven't seen at all. Other than that (and the price), this is a top notch mascara that I highly recommend.

I really like this mascara. First off, found it at Costco for $9.97 and full price at Sephora is near $30, so I got an awesome deal. Hourglass cosmetics are extremely expensive, so $9.97 for an Hourglass cosmetic was awesome. The packaging is so sleek. I normally have to wait for a couple of uses for other mascaras to dry out a little, my short skimpy lashes HATE wet formulas, but this was awesome. It does not give volume what so ever, but it does give length... A LOT of length. My husband thought I was wearing false lashes. The way I apply it is; the first 2 coats are with Lashblast mascara and then 2 coats of the Hourglass mascara. My lashes look amazing, I must say. It wears really well too, never smudged or flaked. Some reviewers say the mascara dries out too fast, only had it for a month and so far so good. We'll see how long it will last, but I'm planning on buying back-ups before Costco stops selling them.

I got a sample of this from Sephora and while I usually am very skeptical of high-end mascaras, I loved this one. Great, thick coverage for my skimpy lashes and more importantly, no smudges or clumps. I have never spent more than $10 on mascara for this so for me to go buy the full size at $33 (CDN) is something else. A splurge but worth it.

This is the worst mascara I have ever bought. It lasted for only 1 month. I don't know if it was a bad batch but after writing to the company all I got was a sorry and no replacement or anything. In turn I will now be saying sorry I won't be buying your product again.

This may not be perfect, but it is darn close. Mascaras always smudge on me, and I mean virtually every mascara except the lash tubes. (And even they have left some color under my eyes before). This leaves no smudge 99% of the time, which is on a par with the tube mascaras. Flaking is not an issue. It thickens nicely and holds up great. Washes off no problem with Purity and warm water. It may take a second app of Purity to get it all. It is rather water resistant too. I like a super thickening & lengthening mascara and this may be where it isn't fully perfect. Still I took some shots and I think it is giving me more volume than I had been giving it credit for. I think it is outperforming my new Chanel Volume!

Received a small sample of this mascara... I like how it looks, doesn't clump, doesn't smudge or anything. However I have to remove a point because I have so much trouble removing it! I have 2 different eye makeup removers & neither are able to fully remove this mascara. It's a little too clingy!

It's not the blackest mascara I've owned, but it does give me full and long lashes. The curl holds up really well and this mascara has never bled or crumbled under my eyes (and I have oily eyelids). I also love its packaging! Sleek and sexy and chic ;)
I will not immediately repurchase it, but I will come back one day.

I finally found it.My HG mascara.I have tried lots of mascaras and ended up being disappointed, not impressed, or liking it just to later be disappointed by some problem. Not with this though. This is everything I have wanted in a mascara. Its super black & makes my lashes so long it looks like I have falsies on.I love the brush it comes with.Im able to wiggle it right at the root making my lashes look even thicker.Sometimes this mascara can look a little clumpy but I just simply comb my lashes with my eyelash comb and perfect:) There is no smudging or flaking with this.I have a mascara obsession so I probably will still continue to try others but I have found my go to.I have found true love.

Impressive mascara that'll definitely be in my makeup bag for years! Delivers fantastic length and definition, perfect for a fresh faced, natural look. Little volume, but a great dark color which makes up for it. Holds curl moderately well and does not clump a bit. A light application will deliver natural looking falsies! Such a versatile mascara, and is almost 100% worth the $28 price tag.

Best mascara I have ever used! I have very short, fine and blond lashes and this makes them long and full without clumping. The best part is how well it stays without being difficult to remove- I have oily skin and always have smudging under my eyes after a few hours, and this stays put all day without smudging or flaking. I'll never buy another mascara again!

EDITED: removed a lippie as this was pretty much unworkable after a month...the formula got way to tacky as it dried out and made lashes clump/hard to comb out. will not repurchase.

This is near HG status, though for the price, I did a side by side of Maybelline Colossal and could not tell the difference. Where this mascara really shines is in the durability - even when you splash water on your face, this pretty much stays on. I take it off with my regular cleanser and its a tad more effort than other non-WP mascaras I have tried, however it is worth it for absolutely no smudging, flaking, or fading throughout the day (and getting caught in the rain isnt embarassing). I would like to see this in a more inky black, although this is still pretty good...It does not give a grey tinge at least. This can be a little hard to work with after a while as the formula is tacky, however is a great summertime mascara for those who dont like WP

Really expensive for me but definitely in my top ten list. It does just about everything without being clumpy, flakey, or irritating. I can use this in a very natural feathery effect or play it up with lots of coats for magazine worthy lashes. It's not the darkest black though (which I kind of like since I'm so fair) so if you like an unnatural pitch black this ones probably not for you.

I got a tester of this at Sephora and am very impressed. Soft, curvy brush teases out lashes to make them long and curved without weighing them down with too much product. Adds good curl. Am hoping that the full size will live up to this experience --especially to help me swallow the $28 price tag!

This is a pretty fabulous mascara. I got the deluxe sample in my Sephora Lash Stash and fell in love. It lengthens my lashes so much, and you can keep building it up and it never gets clumpy or crunchy! This mascara makes my lashes look full, long, and defined.

I bought this from my local Sephora after reading a lot of good reviews on this mascara. It is worth the high price. The application and removal of this mascara is quick and easy. Love how this opens up my eyes :) This is now my HG mascara! :)

This is one of my favorite mascaras! Creates a dramatic and voluminous look that is probably not suited for everyday wear. No smudging or flaking, and comes off easily with eye makeup remover.
