I'm always searching for a good deal on rare/hard to find polishes and when I recently scored a bottle of the elusive Bad Fairy at a great price on Ebay I couldn't wait to get it in the mail. While I was waiting to get it I hoped that I wouldn't be disappointed with it. If you've ever bought a polish because of all the hoopla about it and when you tried it out you kinda wondered what all the fuss was about, then you know what I mean. Well, I'm very happy to report that Bad Fairy does live up to all the hoopla surrounding it! This polish has the smoothest, almost mirror like shiny finish of any foil polish I've seen. The depth of the sparkle is amazing, and the duochrome flashes from this color are just stunning. This was opaque in three coats for me, a top coat really lets the foil finish shine. I love it, it's definitely one of my faves!

I really like this color. It's nice and glittery, but fine glittery, not chunky glittery (you know what chunky glitter is...the glitter that gets caught in hair. Ew!) I like the way that it changes from orange to gold to red depending on whatever light you are in.

I'm going to forgo describing the color and all, so look to the other reviews here. This nail polish needs way too many coats to get the opague look that you see in pictures and swatches. The first coat is super sheer. For myself, I need up to 4, probably more sometimes. And even with serveral topcoats, it doesn't last very long before the inevitable chipping begins, either. I was lucky enough to not have received a "mangled" brush in mine. My friend got one with random hairs splaying out everywhere. The brush tends to pick up a little too much polish as well. All in all, it's very pretty of course, but I don't know if it'd worth buying into again. For me, a lot of work went into, well...making it work, and even then, I don't know if I succeeded.

I first saw this on thedailynail blog last fall and have wanted it ever since. I managed to receive it in a swap last week and didn't hesitate to wear it.
At first, sitting at my dining room table, I was a little underwhelmed. It wasn't sparkly, it didn't have that amazing duo flash that i'd seen in swatch photos. It took 3-4 coats to be opaque, but THEN I went outside and BAM! I was smacked in the face with it's awesome sparkly, orangey, goldy, red awesomeness.
This polish is gorgeous. It's definitely in my top 5 favorites of all time. I've had it on for three days and only noticing minor tip wear (I used LA calcium builder as a basecoat and Seche Vite (2 coats) as a topcoat). The brush/handle is a little more awkward than the other polishes I own (this is my first MAC polish) but it was easy to get used to. dry time on this was fast, and dried to a smooth and even finish even before I used the Seche Vite.
I love it. I'm going to wear it as often as I can. I've gotten more compliments on it than any of my other polishes. Even while lunching with a friend she stopped me mid-conversation and said "I'm sorry, I can't focus on what you're saying, your nail polish is too pretty. What is that?" ha!

This was my first time trying out a MAC nail polish. It is such a beautiful, unique color. I find that I can see the dual-chrome when it's on my nails..although I need 2-3 coats. I'm extremely dissappointed with its staying power. After 1 day of having it on, it started chipping on 1 nail.. it's been 2 days that I've had it on now and so far 7 nails are already chipping. Almost makes me wish I didn't waste 15$ on a nail polish.

While MAC nailpolish is not well known for its wearing power, I often use their polishes for photo shoots for the beauty of their colors. This color is FAB and photographs well. Dries quick...does the job I need it to do.

On me, Bad Fairy is a shimmery red (sometimes looks reddish-pink) with coppery/orange duochrome. It looks mostly red, the duochrome isn't as obvious on my nails as it is in the bottle. I really like the colour - it's like nothing else in my collection. I only needed to use 2 coats for perfect coverage and the polish did dry fairly quickly. The reason why I rated this 3 and why I would not repurchase is because of staying power. This polish chips almost INSTANTLY on me. I'll still wear it but it's definitely not a polish that I can wear all week with minimal chipping. Removal was ok, I did notice a lot of reddish shimmers on my nail after I *thought* I was done :) Not a big deal though. Very pretty colour, I am glad that I got it but I like my polishes to last longer than this one does.

I was quite happy with this nail polish after I purchased it but have since used it several times and I just don't see a WOW factor anymore. I'm not sure if it is me becoming used to seeing it once applied or if something has changed somehow about how it looks. I didn't buy the other two nail laquers from the VV collection but I am not so sure I'm happy I got this one anymore either. I think I'll use it for pedis over manis now.

I'm not disappointed with this product - the cherry pink colour is nice and not that common. And it doesn't bother me that it's a 3-coater. Many polishes are. My brush was OK in this one too (though my brush with Mean 'n Green was all splayed so I know what people mean).
But it's not half as duochrome as it looks in the bottle, so don't get it if you're expecting the major orange flash. It's difficult to see in real life. Only get it if you like the cherry pink colour, cos that's what you're gonna have to live with.
I haven't experienced any chipping, but it is quite tipwear-y. That doesn't bother me that much though as no-one else is likely to notice it.
A tip for those who are disappointed with the duochrome - layer Sally Hansen Hidden Treasure/GOSH Rainbow over it. It is absolutely STUNNING! It turns into the polish that perhaps MAC intended it to be - all cherry/orange/green duochromy goodness.

I love this nail color from Venomous collection. It's a metallic ruby red color with pearly shine. It is very festive, perfect for the holiday. It's not dramatic so I can wear it to work. It stays on pretty good, didn't see any chipping after two days. I'm glad I got it because it's sold out everywhere. Very happy of the purchase!

It may be because I used a black base under it, and two thin coats on top, but the orange duochrome part of this isn't as evident as I'd hoped/thought. In indoor lighting, it appears to be a really pretty deep berry color. In sunlight it has goldish bronzey flashes to it. Even though it's not exactly what I expected, it's still a really unique, beautiful color. I'd repurchase again. Though I must agree with the other reviewers who complained about the quality of the brush: it's horrible! I feel like MAC takes advantage of the MAC label and sometimes does not make the products have a high enough quality, because they know people will buy it anyway. My Orly dupe for Mean and Green (Space Cadet) is miles ahead of this one, quality wise. I probably would not buy another MAC nailpolish again, unless I found the color to be very unique (like this one).

After my first coat i was a so suprised at how little pigmentation this nail polish had, I had never had another polish with so little pigment and i have a lot of drugstore polishes. So of course i had to apply another coat, and it still wasnt opaque, so a third one i applied, and finally just barely opaque enough and i just left it like that, those who said its opaque at 2 coats i dont know how you did that since the cosisntency of this is so watery and thin, and at the first coat it came out very uneven and streaky, there was literally spots with no color. I love the final result tho, i do also love that it dries rather quickly. I hate the brush, its hard and hard to use and control, I hated the consistency, it does tend to chip after a few days. Ive had mine on my nails for 4 days today and i have 3 nails chipped and all of my nails have worn down a bit. The duochrome isnt always visible, its probably best to use this nail polish when the sun is out or when theres a lot of light because thats what u need to see the bronzey orangey color. Very pretty polish but for the price and all the negative things i delt with i would purshase this again :(.

i'm so with kricket on this one - the bad reviews on this simply puzzle & amaze me.....
i just dont get people and their expectations sometimes.......i am a duochrome/flip-flop polish junkie. I am always looking for new d/c colors., so i've got a ton of experience with them. With that being said., im only going to say this once - Absolutely NO NAIL POLISH I have EVER purchased duochrome or other, looks good with ONE coat.....god - it just drives me nuts. now, I can accept the entire "it just doesn't look good with my skin tone and the like, but what chaps my a$$ is how everyone is jumping temptalias arse on here because they're saying this polish doesnt look as great as she made it look on her site. To wit i say BS. I have all three of these lacquers and ALL three look EXACTLY like they do on temptalia....all 3 are STUNNING and hey- GET THIS - i EXPECTED to have to apply at least three coats. DUH. Any nail color with a jelly base like most duochromes are, REQUIRE multiple coats to completely bring out all of the flipping colors.
Now that my rant is over - I love all three of these colors. The only complaint i could possibly have (pretty minor) is the packaging, since they are part of the VV collection WHERE's MALEFICENT??? only that earned a 3 lippie from me. Maybe those of us that love these will get lucky and they'll be made permanent colors?!!!??????

I don't understand why this has gotten mediocre reviews, I LOVE the bottle i got. No bristles were splayed and the polish on my nails looks exactly like pictures i have seen from TEMPTALIA and ALL LACQUERED UP!!! I did have to use 3 coats, but there are alot of glittery colors out there that you need 3 coats for also.
I just received my bottle yesterday so i will update later about how the wear time is.
update: 10-15-10
on the second day of wear and absolutely NO CHIPPING but there is minimal tip wear and that's from typing and handing out money all day and washing dishes at home, playing with my son, and bathing.

It's a nice metallic berry pink color against my tan fingers. And it does show the orange bronze color in the light and different angles. I actually wish it was the orange bronze color instead of the berry pink. I like it but don't love it so it's going back to MAC.

I tried this on from someone else. Which I don't regret, I won't be buying this for myself. First of all - I don't get the quirky name - it really just is a glittery red nail polish. Very deja-vu. It looks really not interesting on my pale skin, maybe on darker skin it may look more exotic.
It's just not chic at all.

I agree with a lot of the previous comments about it not looking like it does on photos. I needed 3 good coats to get it to look opaque, but it is not a coppery gold colour on me, it's a bright metallic shimmery pink with some gold irridescent in certain lighting. Saying all this I do really love the colour but it is not at all what I was expecting.
The bottle is really quite small and the brush had quite a bit of splaying going on which I was not impressed with!

Well, talk about a disappointment! I was so excited to get my hands on this n/p as the online swatches (especially Temptalia's) made it look SO stunning. Don't get me wrong, it is a lovely color but not nearly as duo-chrome/reflective as I was hoping it would be. Most of the time, it's just a very pretty fuscia-ish color. Definitely not worth the $16 CAD I paid for it though. It takes AT LEAST (for me anyway) 4 coats before it is opaque enough, and (as many other reviewers have mentioned), this polish is chip city after only two days of wear. My brush was also a hot mess but I can deal with that. Mostly, I'm just disappointed in the quality of this n/p for the price. On the plus side, I will say that this polish does dry relatively quick and it looks pretty neat under a black polish. However, if I hadn't paid much for this polish, I wouldn't be nearly as irritated with it overall, but I did....so I guess I'm a sucker for hype. Lesson learned, will not be wasting my hard-earned $$ on MAC nail polishes ever again. Many of the drugstore polishes I own perform much better than this did.
